| Hav0k02-01-05, 10:57 PM | Okay, this sounds wierd... but I am playing a 2nd level Tank/Chain fighter - but roleplaying him is extremely important to me. Here's a bit of the story. Mikkol Kamnarr -Human -Fighter - 2 (we level nearly every adventure until about 5th level.) -Uses spiked chain to trip opponents as often as possible. Okay, this guy is a clean-freak, first of all. He cannot stand dirt. He wears white satin pants and shirt, with white silk & leather studded leather armor. He's got a blood red buckler, and a blood red cape (of course both are going to become enchanted at later levels). He came from a fairly noble family, and only became a fighter because he wished to "clean" the world of evil. He is a flashy and pinache type of guy (the first build was Swashbuckler1/Fighter1), who will do anything he can to stop the battle before it gets to him (and woe betides the first NPC to dirty his pimp whites....). He figures if they are on the ground, then he isn't. This is pretty much all I can give for this guy. I can't really think of a way to be able to roleplay how he wants to go as he grows older and gains levels, what he does with his off-time (besides cleaning clothes, weapons, bags, and making sure the cleaning utensils are cleaned with disposable cleaning utensils...) So... Any ideas? |
| Mirikon02-01-05, 11:53 PM | You're well on the way already. Some questions. What are his interests, other than not getting dirty? Is there a significant other somewhere in his life? Are the players based in the area where this man is known as a noble? Is he a snob? What god does he revere, if anyone? How religious is he? Any quirks, character flaws, etc? |
| Trydan02-02-05, 05:15 AM | Combat can be messy. Blood, mud, sweat, grime, etc.. How would the character cope if, say, someone bled on his white clothes. After all, it is a spiked chain. Someone is bound to bleed. And what happens if the character himself becomes wounded? |
| Hav0k02-02-05, 03:45 PM | Mirikon - thank you for the questions to consider. Very helpful :) Trydan - Usually his opponent's blood will not get on his clothes, since he nearly always trys to keep at least 10 feet away from them. However, if an opponent should mess up his clothes (by bleeding on them, wounding him, throwing dirt, etc.etc...) then he completely spazz's out and attempts to rip through every enemy, royally getting blood and guts all over himself, in the moment of tensional releif that is granted by not being able to HELP his clothes getting dirty, he maxes out their dirty-ness. Of course, directly afterwards (when he comes to his senses , he will probably spend hours scrubbing himself, his clothes, his equipment (and/or buying new clothes and equipment). He is very serious about being clean :) |
| Morka02-02-05, 07:01 PM | Then he should always travel with a clean suit in his bag! Also... Does his cleanness frenzy only apply to himself, or to other characters? Is he more likely to attack a dirty orc than an hobgoblin with clean armor? What if his appreciation of good/evil be biased by his obsession about cleanness? Will he respect more the tyran with a clean jacket than the poor peon dressed in dirty rags, but fighting to save his familly? Still with this hook, will he try to give clean clothes to the next beggar and feel he did a good act? |
| Hav0k02-02-05, 07:16 PM | Wonderful questions, you have invoked deep thoughts. His frenzy will mosty apply to himself, although cleaner NPC's will obviously be treated to a better outlook from him. Dirty/nasty NPC's will be treated with contempt, and he will do anything to (mostly politely) get away from them or get them away from him. Should a fellow PC become dirty, they won't be that way for long, since his constant nitpicking about the smallest dirt spot would surely become quite annoying. As for alignment, he is more attributed towards good. He views ***Hell/Abyss/Whatever you wish to call it as "underground", while ***Heaven/Paradise/Whatever you wish to call it is in the skies. Obviously, he extremely dislikes those he feels will go to Hell/Abyss/Whatever. *** = multiple names so as not to offend the many religious DnD players out there. While others may war, the DnD players come together in peace. |
| Morka02-02-05, 08:05 PM | Another thought: he could refer to people of good alignment as being "clean hearted", and evil people, "dirty hearted". |
| Paravel03-10-05, 04:04 PM | Perhaps it's his ambition to gain an enchanted item that repels dirt from his near vicinity? |
