| ShoshuroKaigen08-01-03, 01:29 PM | Necromancy. I always wanted to create the necromancer, because of my own fear of death, and the necromancer was always a concept I wanted to delve into with more depth. I prefer being a unique character creator, and the necromancer is stereotyped very much. Of course, I still can't bypass all stereotypes. Makarios is an aristocrat, a man who has lived in the high soceity but has a deadly secret. Terrified of dying, he has to face death every day. Because of his crippling disease, one small scratch can kill him. He has hemophilia, a inherited disease where your blood is so thin t is unable to clot efficiently, was common in the males in the royal family during the 1600-1800s. In fact, only males can contract it, but females can carry the gene. After learning of this he has become so terrified of death he delved in the dark arts, searching for the key to immortality. His mother helped him along for that matter. He comes from a long line of wizards, so he was accepted into a mage's college with no problem. His mother, a necromancer herself, tutored him. He learned almost all his necromantic lore from her. But most of the rest will be revealed in the generic 100 questions formula and stuff like that. Basicly, I would like you to see my necromancer, Makarios Donovan. Part 1: The Basics What is your full name? Makarios Alastor Donovan Where and when were you born? It depends on the campaign setting. Who are/were your parents? (Know their names, occupations, personalities, etc.) Baron Alastor Donovan is a very powerful and famous wizard who was awarded the title of Baron by the local lord. Once an adventurer, he has a massive fortune and extensive manor and library. He is a kind and benevolent man (NG) who cares very much for his son, and would do anything to cure his condition. However, his son has become much more distant from his father when he left to go adventure, and has always loved his wife Diana Donovan but is sspecting something strange about her and his son. The Baroness Diana Donovan is a descendant of Wee Jas herself, and a competent necromancer and priestess to the Ruby Goddess. Unfortunately she is a fanatic against the church of Pelor after a childhood accident. In fact, Nerull/Myrkull/Cedric/ect. is corrupting Makarios's dear mother. She taught Makarios the secret of death. She was married to Alastor from a noble family betrothment when they were very young. But they loved each other anyway. Diana hides herself as a priestess of a goddess/god of Magic, like Boccob or Mystra, instead of Wee Jas, and nobody except the Wee Jas church knows of this as of yet. Do you have any siblings? What are/were they like? No, Makarios is an only child. His twin brother died during child birth, he was named Eren and the spirit of the unborn child is said to haunt Makarios's mind, but it is not true. Where do you live now, and with whom? Describe the place and the person/people. Makarios does not have his own place of residence he owns, but he is saving money to make his own manor. For now he stays at Taverns, his father's manor, or the dormitories at the Bleak Academy (the secret cabal of necromancers that he joined after his education at the Mage's College, different from the Tome and Blood Bleak Acadenmy). What is your occupation? Makarios is an adventurer at the moment, but he is also a sage of necrology and arcana, a master poet, and an aristocrat, being the son of a baron. Write a full physical description of yourself. You might want to consider factors such as: height, weight, race, hair and eye color, style of dress, and any tattoos, scars, or distinguishing marks. Makarios is a slightly tall and lean human, about 5' 9'' and 190 lbs. He has paled skin from his experiences with death, and his eyes are very deep and sullen. But he keeps a regal air and stays calm. He has dark red hair inherited from his mother and his eyes are dark blue with a blood red tint like his mother, creating a deep violet hue, as he is also descended from the goddess Wee Jas. He has no tattoos, but on his face is a small scar on his brow, from a time during his childhood when he fell down the balcony and almost bled to death. There is also a birthmark behind his ear that looks like a claw, called the "witches claw" and supposedly signifies that the person was born from dark magicc, which is untrue. He is attractive to an extent, he isn't gorgeous or anything but he has an aura of mystery that some find attrative and a handsome face. To which social class do you belong? Upper class, aristocratic Do you have any allergies, diseases, or other physical weaknesses? Makarios is hemophiliac, which means his blood cannot clot. This is one of the main reasons he is so fearful of death. He is also allergic to dog dander. He also contracted typhoid fever when he was young, and almost died. Are you right- or left-handed? Left-handed What does your voice sound like? It is melodious and calm, but it hides his true nature. He has a strong regal voice when he wants to, and can recite poetry with every emotion emphasized. But when he goes into a nervous breakdown, usually during a near death situation for either someone close to him or himself, he gets really shaky, paranoid, even psychotic. What words and/or phrases do you use very frequently? Death has no Dominion. -Makarios, after learning the secrets of lichdom- Aha! You did not expect a frail wizard such as me to know the mundane arts of war, but a true arcanist must train his mind and skill in the arts of war! -Makarios, in a good mood after defeating an enemy without magic- Because I could not stop for Death, He kindly stopped for me; The carriage held but just ourselves And Immortality. We slowly drove, he knew no haste, And I had put away My labor, and my leisure too, For his civility. We passed the school where children played, Their lessons scarcely done; We passed the fields of gazing grain, We passed the setting sun. We paused before a house that seemed A swelling of the ground; The roof was scarcely visible, The cornice but a mound. Since then 't is centuries; but each Feels shorter than the day I first surmised the horses' heads Were toward eternity. -Makarios's favorite poem, written my Emily Dickinson- What do you have in your pockets? Why are you asking me such trivial questions? Do you have any quirks, strange mannerisms, annoying habits, or other defining characteristics? Makarios often speaks in morbid poems when he is in a good mood, and his hemophiliac condition makes his absolutely terrified of death. __________________________________ More to come, please critique and suggest and ect., just gimme some feedback :D |
| Fiantha08-02-03, 12:03 PM | Wow. That is a very detailed and realistic and above all, CREEPY character. Does Makarios know about his mother being a priestess? I don't know if a hemophiliac could really be a capable adventurer, though I would think that a simple cure light wounds would staunch anyone's blood loss. How would he react to others? Does he see big, muscular fighters as hamheaded morons who think with their biceps, or does he envy them for their health, and likely longevity? What about the eternally cheerful? Basically, how does he react to other people with different attitudes and physiques? By the way, the interview style was genius. I usually don't post on these, because I'm too lazy to read all of them, but this was the exception. Good luck! --Fiantha |
| ShoshuroKaigen08-02-03, 01:17 PM | Thanks for all the feedback. His personality is oing to be much deeply examining today as I get the next set of questions down. But to answer your questions... Does Makarios know about his mother being a priestess? Yes, and he is trying to save his dear mother from Nerull/Myrkull/Cyric's corruption. While Makarios isn't a truly pious character, he regards Wee Jas as his patron diety in secret, but in public he is much like his mother in respect of hiding his true piety. I don't know if a hemophiliac could really be a capable adventurer, though I would think that a simple cure light wounds would staunch anyone's blood loss. Right. Basicly all slashing and piercing weapons are like wounding weapons to him. Whoever the cleric is will be busy, but he would rather stand far from the enemies. He will most likely have a protection from arrows item or spell ready. On a side note, the hemophilia I am saying comes from his mother's side. Also a carefully worded wish might be able to ure it if you have a non-evil non-chaotic DM :D . How would he react to others? Does he see big, muscular fighters as hamheaded morons who think with their biceps, or does he envy them for their health, and likely longevity? What about the eternally cheerful? Basically, how does he react to other people with different attitudes and physiques? Well, I will probally go more in depth with it next round of questions but as for the muscular fighters it truly depends on the person. If that person saved his life or something then Makarios would be very grateful and he is polite and will try and repay the debt. But if they are really stupid, then I would have to say yes to both statements. As for the enternally cheerful, he cannot stand those people/things. Something like his ultimate pet peeve. The pet peeve that makes you "miss" with your finger of death :D . By the way, the interview style was genius. I usually don't post on these, because I'm too lazy to read all of them, but this was the exception. Good luck! Why thank you  . |
