I have a Tiefling character in my new campaign I am struggling to come up with an good backstory for. Here are some of the applicable stats which may come into play, though I know this is Character Development.

This is after the racial adjustments.
STR-12
DEX- 15
CON-13
INT-20
WIS-12
CHA-15

Also, there are firearms in the campaign and he will be taking two-weapon fighting and other feats which can relate to handgun use.

Anyway, despite the stats, does anyone have an idea for a Tiefling Character who starts out in the slums of a much larger, tecnologically advanced city with a nack for gambling(profession) and gunplay?

The party consists of a Human Monk, Goliath Fighter, Aasimar Wizard and an Aasimar Paladin. Yes, it might not have been the best choice but it will be fun to roleplay.

Check out western movies like Tombstone (Doc Holiday played by Val Kilmer makes for a fantasic archetype) or Last Man Standing with Bruce Willis. Maybe something like this, your character enjoys games of strategy and matching wits with others in like games, but people don't like to lose, so they might attack your character, thus defending your self becomes a necessity. Your character wins a few consecutive games and gets attacked by a sore loser who uses firearms. Your character wins the fight (barely) and becomes enamored with firearms, so you either takes the ones from the guy you just beat down or buy some of your own.

Gambler.

Formerly in the army/city guard/police force, this tiefling fought a lot to suppress the evil within him, but despite his best intents he began feeling less and less satisfied when a criminal was caught, eventually that became disappointment and then it became anger. When he pummelled an orc to death over a minor crime he received a dishonorable discharge and found himself with nothing to do, he began drinking and gambling, a tired veteran who had already wasted so much time chasing after shadows that he forgot what he had originally tried to do.

Now he has stopped drinking and his gambling days are recent memories, but he is turning his life around.
