Tiefling Wizard bg help please? [Archive] - Wizards Community

05-23-06, 03:44 AM I'm drawing a blank for a background for her. This is very uncommon, so I decided to post here for some help.

Kia's cannot remember being told any details about her birth. Kia grew up on beautifull grasslands. she was raised by her parents in a small hamlet. Kia's family is noble, has a fair amount of money, highly religious, focused in its intent, and held in high regard by the community. In her childhood, Kia was bullied a lot. During this time, Kia's vengefull attitude surfaced, and influenced the way people looked at her. Kia left her life behind to live in solitude. Kia has some friends, none close.

That's all I have. It can be rewritten totally, i don't care, but I can't think of anything. She is Kia is 5'6'' and has dark blonde hair. She is slim, and fairly attractive.
She Casts no Shadow and has small horns on her head.

Anyhelp? I need a page's worth. She is a level 8 Wizard.
edit: important fact, She isn't evil. She's neutral good.

How did she come into studying wizardry?

How was her beginning levels (1-3) like? What adventures did she experience?

What were her latter adventures (4-6) about?
Anyone she particularly remembers? Perhaps a name and general class?
Any items that were more "special" to her personally?
Does she know any of the PCs?
And, what was she doing when meeting this latest group of PCs?

I have given some of the more generic answers, which may trigger some flow of thoughts.. not sure how to present things on this board yet. Hope they help.

First, she's a wizards... A typical Tiefling with that story would be a Sorc, unless you add something about getting her training... Getting training with no people around is a litte weird, unless she stumbeled across an old library or something...

You'd need something more on HOW her vegeful nature came forth... And why does she have a vengeful nature, as she is good? Does she perhaps enter a wild rage or the like when she is upset, so she looses control of herself?

Speaking about her early adventures (from level 1 -7) is also a good idea. Have you already her character made? In that case, look at her feats and skills and spells and equipment, and try to link as much of it to events in her life..
Eg.: She might have learned fireball from an old dragoon in the western mountains when she saved him from a evil dragon.

That justifies the level, why he got a lot of weird stuff, AND it gives story to play after....

Once he had died, and gone to Hell, Kia's mother met him, and decided to make him her slave. Kia was concieved purely by chance, and was given away without a thought purely at random. The fact that it was to a family who had prayed for a child, was mere coincidence.

That she should not hate them, but that she should pity them, for most people will never know more than what they can see.
Of what race were the family members (mostly)? I guess this is an adopted family? Her adopted mother, was a Grey Elf, and her father was a Half-drow. Soon after the arrival of a child, the mother was able to bare children again, and soon became pregnant, and gave birth to two wonderful children.

05-25-06, 05:07 AM I actually made a char very much like that a while ago, but never actually played it, but this thread has definatley inspiered to play her relly soon.

I was going for a more "good-hearted-but-dark-urges" type (and no, not those types of urges, the urges I'm talking about are to kill or maim those who offend or bother her).

She was also tormented by dark and disturbing dreams and images, stemming from her heritage.

Tho my char was a Warlock (more fitting due to demonic heritage I thought), my first few lvls were to be spent in the service of a wizard she met i a city, who explained to her what she really was (and where her powers came from), she stayed with him for qiute some time, and rarely ventured outside, fearing harrasment, and to a lesser extent, feared she would'nt be able to control herself if someone bullied her. The wizard tought her to tame her heitage, in exchange for the studying opportunity it presented. (tho in your case the wiz could simply be training her in the Art)

After gaining enough skill to be confident in her abilities and have gained some faith in mankind, learning (through her mentor), that kind and caring do acctually exist (tho she still assumed everyone was ignorant and judged her by her appearance). She ventured out into the world seeking aswers about herself and her heritage and to "find herself". She sometimes sent spare money home anonymousley(sp?), but her family always suspected it was her.
(she grew up and left home in virtually the same way as Kia)
