| DMJustbumper03-10-06, 05:29 PM | Okay so, I am playing a Lawful Neutral cleric of Wee Jas in a horror style campaign. To make a long story short my character is adventuring to find his long lost love, whom he only spent one night with and he believes whole heartedly that the woman was Wee Jas herself. In fact it is because of this love that he is a cleric at all. I am not that great at roleplaying a single character (I usually DM) but I did come up with some effects to my characters spells and abilities. One of the things I have come up with is that when he kills someone with his Death touch special ability he sees thier life flash before his eyes, and then he has partial memories of theirs, nothing too solid but enough to make him take on thier personality traits. So, the party just killed a murderer who enjoyed peeling the skin off of living people and tanning it as they watched. He then used it to appolster his house (told you it was a horror game!) He knocked the party out and was cutting up my characters buddy when after a while he struggled and broke free. My character had one good shot at him and no time to prepare or cast so my character just grabbed the man's face dug his thumbs into the sick-o's eyes and let the power of death flow through him. My character hates to do that. So anyway, after the orldeal I cant figure out exactly how my character would react, should I have him become dark and sick? I was thinking about just changing his spell selection to reflect the experience, maybe get the spell "Clutch of Orcus" from the spell compendium, or something to that effect. Some suggestions would help, maybe you guys can give me some new ideas! Thanks! |
| flipper133003-10-06, 06:29 PM | you could keep getting those visual's and they start haunting you and talk to your Dm about doing some dark deeds at night that resemble what you have seen in the visuals in the long run you become the main killer and your group will have to decide how to deal w/ you :D can get to the point where you are all actually starting to hunt you down at the end and dont know it until your good inside starts leaving clues that they have to piece together hope it helps! |
| Fithero03-11-06, 04:11 AM | thats actually a really good idea for a heroes of horror game (the memories and personality adaptation i mean)... perhaps some really freaky stuff starts happening to your character. Perhaps he starts finding slithers of flesh in his backpack or pocket when he wakes up in the morning... and party members find similar wounds on their arms and legs and what not. Or for something totally messed up and freak... what if you wake up really sick and throw up chunks of human... or your wearing clothing... made totally of skin... :yuck: damn... yuk Anyway, sorry if thats a bit harsh... just a thought Later |
| DMJustbumper03-11-06, 08:24 PM | good insights, I was definatly going to start to play him a bit more sinister but accutaly having him take over for a while would rock Ill have to pass the idea on to my DM. Thanks guys and if anyone else has Ideas im always open for more. |

I do like Fithero's concept of occasionally waking up and getting the feeling you did something really sick the night before. just dont make it too often-maybe only on full moons, or maybe the new moon, as the new moon is a void of light, which could be interpreted as symbolic of the killers darkened soul, or of the power of death your character is a part of. I dunno, I'm getting tired. while this incident definately should influence the way your character acts, he definately shouldn't become a psycho just because of this single incident. if, however, over time he kills alot of serial killers, then not only would it make sense, but it would be all the more horrifying for him to become a serial killer himself, assembled from little bits and pieces of all the ones he's killed :D mebbe I'll post some more ideas later...for now, sleep! |
