To Specialize, or not to Specialize-that is the question that my character faces. [Archive] - Wizards Community

07-05-04, 05:13 PM Ok. I am thinking of generating a new character-who is also a wizard, M-A-Y-B-E a sorcerer. What my question is is this:

I want a character that is a good role-player, and I have always toyed with the idea of an illusionist character. I am thinking of playing a CE male human or half-elf illusionist or an evoker or a N male half-elf wizard OR, and this is a pretty big "OR", a LN male human abjurer.

So many choices . . . care to help me out?

Notice I did not post anything about min/maxing save for this, so don't anyone say this is for the Optimization boards.

07-05-04, 10:27 PM After the optimisation note and the vehement reply after 3 hours, you're probably not going to find a lot of help. It's generally nicer not to try to alienate people from whom you want help with something.

For the question you're asking, there's two more pieces of information that you need to give.

1. What kind of story is your game trying to tell?
2. Who in the game world do you think would be best to tell this story through?
