Have you got any reason to betray him?

Did your human master mistreated you? Did he put you in harms way for nothing ? Or did he just payed you poorly :ahem:.
Is their a racial enemity between the elves and the humans? If yes, is your character a racist and if yes, how did your character became the bodyguard of the human.

I can't really think of a lot of reasons to betray your master, but if he mistreated you or you hate him (for any reason), you could consider it. But, consider your alignment. I'm not sure which alignment you've got, but if you're on the good side, you'll probably won't stick a dagger in his back. I'm not sure if the lawful-chaos axis comes into the picture here, though I'm inclined to say that you'll be more at ease with betraying when you're chaotic.

One last thing to consider. Is it worth it to betray your master? Which advantages and which disadvantages will your betrayal evoke?
Advantages could be:

You gain a lot of money or a buissiness opportunity :$$:.
You regain your freedom :w00t:.
You're able to work for a better master :emp:.

Disadvantages could be:

You'll be hunted down by the minions of your former master :mrt:.
You'll be hunted down by the autorities of the country you're in :fight!:.
Your reputation gets a big dent (sp?) because you betrayed your master. So you won't find another job as easy as the last one :allalone:.

Hope these things help,

Cheers

well he hasenent done anything is just that he will find a mysterious power from some magic stone that will call the gods power to one great thing.. he will use it for good and my character wants to use it for personal benefits. i am a chotic neutral alignment.. it ain't any racicm there it is just that the world of the elves has been separated so no one has ever been there exept for elves... i only want to betray him for his power oppertunity if i can call it that... thanks for the reply:)

Is this a solo-campaign you're playing in. If you are, you have nothing to worry about (except for in game repercussions). If you're not, you'll have your fellow adventurers that'll want some kind of explanation. I don't know what their stance is about this magic stance, but if you're having a LG companion, you might be in a tough spot.

I would say proceed with caution if you're not alone. If you're alone, go ahead and rock the house :D.

I still don't understand the situation fully. Are these humans fellow players? If so, you better discuss this with your DM. Some DM's don't like party split-ups or in-party fights and when these occur, they make the PC who started it an NPC.

I'm sure that your DM will be willing to help you out on this one.
