I'm building a troll character for a future game, and I've finished his background and all those things and then I hit a problem...his name. For some reason I can't come up with orc, troll or ogre names without making them sound stupid. So I need your help coming up with a name!

Anything gutteral should do. Lots of G's, D's, and R's come to mind, with a fair helping of A's and O's.

Basically, hock up a loogie and then try to spell the noise you made, and it'll probably make a good troll name ;)

If your friends aren't too well versed in the classics, you could always use Grendel (or, as Beowulf said: "Oh yeah? AND your mother!!!) :)

When I was having a similar naming block (which is all too often) I learned from a trekkie friend that there are websites dedicated to the Klingon language. Just about any Klingon word is a great sounding name for a troll or orc.

Guttural sounds work well a few of my past pc's and npc's;
N'Ghak
Trask
Ghaarok
Slag

Here's some from the Slayer's Guide to Trolls:
Borakk
Brakk
Brog
Grok
Vrukkus
Traag
Glung
Plokk
Muk
Kethka

Pretty much any gutteral-sounding collection of syallables should do. For example:

Gruknok
Nithnar
Slubdon
Griktor

And so on.
