| Kipple Snacks02-04-07, 03:33 AM | Anyone from Diamonds Coffee Shoppee, don't read. First, to put my character's stats: 16/13/12/18/11/18 CG Male Human Bard level 4, age 18 Feats: Extra Bardic Music, Captivating Melody, Versatile Performer. Skills: Focuses on knowledges and social skills. Combat: Bardic Music, random whip use(trip/disarm), some spells. Skill Tricks: Assume Quirk. Collector of Stories(arcana). Back story: Carthell met up with his group of adventuring buddies when hired to escort a sled shipment through the arctic(which is where everyone is from). His fellow employees are: Paladin, CN Barbarian, CN Rogue, LN Fighter/Rogue, and a NG(I think, may be N) Druid. Through out the adventure, it turns out that the barbarian's tribe had been wipe out by some strange acting neanderthals, so the barbarian has a thirst for revenge that myself and the paladin distaste. Through out the adventure, the Paladin and I wind up convincing the barbarian to revere the good gods, specifically Kord. We get to the ice cave with said neanderthals, we kill most of the warriors, including the one that killed the barbarian's parents, kill off all but two men, and send them off to fend for themselves with the women and children. Inside said cave is an underground magical research lab and a blue ice forge. Inside the lab/forge, we wind up running into a senile dragon(who is actually a form of construct like thing, so not so tough as a dragon), the barbarian rushes it, the rest of the party pulls him back, I charm him to force him to calm down and as soon as that happens I drop the charm. Little but later, the group winds up splitting up, I'm with the barbarian, while the rest of the group is fighting a dire bear, the barbarian and I run into some trouble, I stay back reading a book, nearly out of spells, while the barbarian fights, and winds up dying just after reinforcements arrive. Summary: Character feels both guilty at friend dying, blames himself for inaction, and maybe even not continuing the charm. Plus has some anger at the gods, specifically Kord, for not protecting his new found servant. Originally, I was planning on having my Bard go into virtuoso, be some nice support, with the occasional domination. Was going to give some good feats to improve spell casting along with it. However, now I see two logical paths to take: Supreme Righteousness: Redevoting myself to the gods as atonement, taking a more divine focused class. Perhaps the feat that lets bardic music stack with paladin levels, or just entering a more paladin like prestige class later. Corruption: Become overwhelmed with guilt and/or resentment towards Kord, the gods, and maybe even a little with the paladin of the group. One idea I've had so far is the Ur-Priest, but that's just due to not sifting through the classes well enough. Another is perhaps selling his soul, or trading something to devils for some form of reward, maybe even to raise his wisdom enough to make Ur-Priest viable(yeah, been reading fiendish codex II). All WotC books are allowed, and I'd likely be able to retrain feats, so I could qualify for a prestige class ASAP. Personally, I'm leaning towards corruption, though laced with revenge for his fallen friend, so he does a more "ends justify the means" deal than just going insane or "evil for evil's sake". Plus, it would be fun doing something a little more sneaky, especially if he can pull off getting some undetectable alignment stuff so he can stay with the paladin, maybe even being evil, but still like, and be buddies with the paladin. The party is not very big on char oping, but I would rather not give myself classes or feats that gimp my use to the party. |
