I'm moving in with a friend of mine soon and he wants to start running a D&D game when I get there because he hasn't gotten to DM one in a couple years so I'm trying to figure out a concept. I'll either be playing a Half-Orc or a Hellbred and originally was going to make a gambling Sorcerer that prestiged into Fatespinner or an abused Sorcerer that prestiged into Nightmare Spinner. I couldn't decide on one so I decided to combine them and settled on the abused backstory but I can't for the life of me figure out a good thematic reason to tae both of the prestige classes. His backstory, in a nutshell, is that he was origianlly a Half-Orc that was given up for adoption in hopes of a better life. The noble family that took him in, however, saw him as nothing more than a scullery maid and workhorse for their ammusment and in order to keep him in line placed a powerful curse on him that would conjure terrible nightmares on any night that the head of the household so chose. He wound up meeting an entity of some sort in this magical dream state that helped him retain his sanity through the long nights spent under this curse (If a Half-Orc) or slowly, over the course of many years, convinced him to slaughter his slavers (If a Hellbred). Either way the entity will teach him to control his fear and eventually qualify for the Nightmare Spinner class. Any and all suggestions would be appreciated. We're all starting first level so I'll have a while before it really becomes a story point. My stat line, before adjustments, is 17,17,17,12,12,6.
