I have a LG cleric with the saint templete and the polite and honest traits. It looks like he will be forced to work with some evil people to stop demon hordes from invading the material plane through several portals. I wanted to have him try to reform these evil characters through talking and preaching to them. I am looking for some good ideas to help me with this since I am not haveing very many ideas on how to go about this. Thanks for any help.

What type of evil creatures are they?

Why do said evils wish to stop the invasion? Do they care about something? Well Good is the force which protects what they care about, Evil is the thing which destroys it.

Do they work together? Play up the merits of loyalty and caring for each other. LG credo is "We help each other and everyone prospers." Show that that Good is also strong.

Do you have allies who were once enemies? Draw attention to them. Living proof that showing mercy works.

Remember the Code of Druss the Legend. Do not lie, cheat, or steal. These things are for lesser men.

Are you a diplomat? Make friends, in part through your compassion. Make offers to people which really cost you nothing. Let the Evil people see that you are the one people will help, because of your kindness.

Have people vouch for you. You are trustworthy. Evil is not. Therefore you are trusted. Evil is not. Trust is a very precious commodity, though not to be bartered for. When you give someone your trust, you give them power. Show that this can work out for the best.

Be proactive in healing your comrades. If you wait to be asked, you will be 'the healbot'. If you make an effort to heal people, they should respect you more.

Be sure to compliment them on each Good deed that they do.

Get in a non-verbal implication that tells them, "We're not so different, you and I..."

I agree with everything you said except for this-

Well Good is the force which protects what they care about, Evil is the thing which destroys it.

Evil destroys what they care about?

Somebody evil doesnt have to go around destorying everything. The way i always do it is good puts others first while evil put themselves first.

Usually works well enough, everything else just flows from that.

Evil is more destructive, possibly something to do with why a demonic invasion is a bad thing. Personal gain is Neutral, only evil when at the expense of others. In essence, evil requires someone to suffer.

Which has an equal chance of being you and yours.

Watch out Fithero. Stormbrand is a paladin... an excellent paladin, but a paladin none-the-less. Arguing alignment with him will lead to an intersting perspective.

As to the point of the thread. Work with another player out of game. Get him to keep careful track of the who-saves-who. Then make sure your character lets everyone else know that he is owed nothing when he saves them. Lead through action rather than preaching. Pay back when you owe another but aid freely. If any of the other players are at all interested in going good they will start following your example.

edit: Better yet, don't pay back. When someone says "you owe me" simply tell them you owe them nothing but will happily share what you have.
