| Talisian01-11-06, 11:41 PM | Ok, looks like our next game is to be set sometime after the start of the clonewars ..not sure how long tho... I'm trying to come up with a good concept for a Twi'lek Jedi Consular...so far all I have is that he's somewhat of a spoiled dandy...and his general appearance..but apart from that?? nada..zip.....warriors I can do...the paladinesqe man of virtue or the underhanded betrayer arent a problem, but I am not looking for either of these, so any good tips, suggestions.... I can't seem to grasp a good concept so I turn to you, dear reader..Help me,... you're my only hope.... |

As an infant, you were discovered to be a potential Jedi, you were taken from your family and began your training... You trained at the Academy until becoming a someone's Padawan, eventually becoming a Consular (knight). Other than that, think of some specific adventures you've had in your training and with your master in your Padawan days; WHO was your master, how was your relationship, did you develop friends in the early days at the academy... where/who are they now, what has led you to be the personality you are now? Ya just have to work with the system and make specific details to make your character who he is. In later eras, when there is no Academy, there's much more flexibility; basically a Jedi will have as convoluted (if not moreso) history as anyone else with the added enhancement of having to figure out the Force or find a mentor... but, you're in Republic era Star Wars, so that's not an issue :/ |
| Talisian01-12-06, 10:54 PM | ok, our hero, Rah'Ni is the product of a noble/well-off family, was taken to the temple at a young age, his master was an expert duelist and taught Rah'Ni the finer parts of duel/fencing, as far as technique... As a duelist, (his master) Va'Lon was poetry in motion, but he seemed to have a short temper for a Jedi......at some point undisclosed, Rah'Ni's master fell to the dark side/was killed by an unknown antagonist.....determined not to allow the same fate to be repeated by the student, Rah ceased all combat training once he was granted title of Knight..focusing instead on less physical means of accomplishing his goals... ..now.. by "fell" I am meaning killed by Maul/Dooku....this is all pretty much setting up his methods here.. but I am using his masters death as a catalyst for the direction he takes..nothing highly detailed, but just a few facts to get over why he is the way he is & to toss in some fun-sauce for the GM.. opinion? :D |

They are supposed to give up the emotional attachment or risk falling to the dark side eg. Darth Vader. Yoda councils Anakin and Luke both to "let go your emotions" (it could have be Obi Wan) If you tweak your motivation to justice rather than revenge it may work out better. I do however like the non combat approach to jedi work. It is not all waving your lightsabre around cutting down the bad guys. You may not want to give up your lightsabre just yet though. Yoda was all for non violent solutions but he still knew when to bring the lightsabre into play, it is the symbol of the Jedi after all.If you focus your skilling on influenceing weaker minds you may be able avoid combat all together or a handy dose of telekinesis would help as well. As Sluagh said, your background is fairly uniform but it is your approach to being Jedi that will make you unique and fun to play. You have said he is something of a dandy but prehaps whilst having a finer taste than many it is that gentle redirecting touch that averts a situtation. Be aware of the subterfugue and intrige and make yourself a master of such through the use of your force enhanced perceptions. If you take it seriously you may be able to complete your objectives without blood shed where others could not. make contacts with powerful people, politicians and underworld figures alike (be careful which ones and what you do with that however). But if you find that you cannot proceed with out bringing your lightsabre into play, look into the telekinetic combat feats (i think thats what they are called) that allow you to weild your lightsabre with your mind and not your body. This is my opinion so take it or leave it as you will. Harrow Blade |
| Talisian01-12-06, 11:58 PM | Thanks HB, yeah, I agree with you on the justice angle... but as far as giving up the sabre? no.. I am just planning more along the lines of what you outlined, ..less phys, more tk.. although I didnt realize you could fight with a sabre in that manor..hmmm.. but because of what happened to his master...that was basically "my" justification for going consular I wanted to have something in his past to sorta explain "why" he doesnt go in blade first, instead of just writing "Consular" on his sheet.. but you've given me more to think about.. thank you.. :) |
