Even if yu can heft the weight effectively, the length is to much to swing two effectively ... Even with Monkey Grip (whatever it does in 3.0)! Also consider the space requirement ... Sorry, as a DM if a player tried to get this one by me I'd slap them a few times with a wet kipper and tell them NO ... |

I have a hard time believing that people can channel divine power into fantastic spells, or make a monster appear by waving a stick and mumbling. It's fanatsy, I've seen worse in bad kung-fu movies. Also consider the space requirement ... What if he has a caddy? |
| Radijs05-02-06, 05:23 AM | You could maybe take 1 level of Barbarian. The rage will increase your damage output even better. The idea of 2 greatswords doesn't really sound optimum to me because of the penalties you take. Even with monkey grip you still take a -2 penalty to attack and adding TWF to that without using a light weapon increases those penalties to -6/-6. You'll have more strikes but you'll hit more often with just one greatsword wielded in 2 hands. Don't forget that wielding a weapon in 2 hands lets you add 1.5 times your strength modifier to damage rolls allowing you to add 6 damage to every strike. adding power attack will give you an even bigger advantage against enemies with a low AC since you can exchange your base attack bonus (or a part of it) for damage on a 1 to 2 ratio. 1 less attack bonus increases your damage by 2 points. So taking the -6 you'd get for oversized 2 weapon fighting you'd get +12 damage on your strike. P.S.: You'd be better off asking in the charopt forum. |

| Morka05-05-06, 02:45 PM | I have a hard time believing that people can channel divine power into fantastic spells, or make a monster appear by waving a stick and mumbling. It's fanatsy, I've seen worse in bad kung-fu movies. As per the D&D rules, or paradigms, a fighter is a warrior who doesn't use magic. What if he has a caddy? Then he would need Exotic Weapon Proeficiency: Caddy. It's a 2-handed weapon dealing bludgeonning damage, but on a critical hit, you add 1d4 piercing/slashing damage as well, because the teeth hit the monster. :fight!: greatsword and rapier A rapier in the off-hand still give a -4 penalty. What about a MW bastard sword and MW shortsword? Wait... am I talking about a Samurai? |

| Pan_Ai_Khan05-09-06, 08:39 AM | Just to open another can of worms - a Half-Giant character could use a Greatsword in one hand, without any of that monkey-grip nonsense. Extra feat to offset the HUGE minuses for the non-light offhand weapon, perhaps? |
