| Gideon_Gideonson09-27-06, 11:14 PM | I have two characters in reserve who both need backstories/traits/etc., and I've uncharistically drawn a complete blank, so I thought I'd come to the experts. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. 1: based on a villian idea from Heroes of Horror (my DM should have never let me borrow it), a elf druid or non-magic ranger (unsure yet) who sees no difference between sentient races and animals. Slightly feral, but appreciates nature greatly, apologizing to mother nature before shooting prey. As a result, she often apologizes before shooting and eating commoners, etc... Probably spends a lot of time in wolf form. Yeah, its slightly sick, but its from HoH, so...maybe I have an excuse. 2: Auspician/Fatespinner. Basically a lucky bastard, but I have no backstory at all for him. |

Let`s say, he is a member of a nomadic tribe which found an area that provided so much food that they finally settled for a few years. 5 years after settling, the character is born. He/She is the firstborn child of a family that always led the hunting partys of the tribe. She also has two brothers that she never had much contact with because they were born a long time after her. The problem with this area is, that underneath the settlement there was an growing evil, slowly nurishing on the positive emotions and the magic of the tribe. As time went by, the former good-hearted people became more and more corrupted, so the normal mental borders of sane humanity started to crumble. Additionally, after two decades of comfort, the forest couldn`t provide any food at all because the growing taint turned this former paradise into a hell on earth. Thus, the tribe had to leave the area and find new hunting grounds. After a month of wandering without magic support, all supplies were depleted, so the tribe made a harsh decision to save their lives: one person had to give his life so the rest of the tribe could survive. After no volunteer was found, the oldest person was selected and slaughtered with a death curse on his lips: "Mighty ....... (select demon/devil/evil god), hear ye servant, never shall they come to rest when sinning against me." People started laughing and feasting on his corpse, when his last wish was fulfilled: ever since, no person of this tribe can survive without feasting on another humanoid being once a month. 8 months and about 15 corpses later, the tribe chose you to be their next prey. They bound you and discussed who may eat your heart when your brothers helped you to escape and died in your place. Now you are 23 years of age, and at every end of a month, you curse your people for sinning against sanity, which you nearly fully regained after consorting with several druids, but the one taint remains, you have to feast on humanoid prey once a month, a taint you try to fight against. You´ve heard of an oracle in the far east that could provide a cure, but it is about a years march away from here. Maybe you like the taste of humanoid flesh, but your sanity dictates that you should fight against this taint |
