| Tiefling_Warlock01-13-07, 11:07 PM | I am starting another game one Monday with two other friends (3 people overall, Friend B is DM, J is player, I am player) It always takes J forever to make his characters so I asked him if I could make one and optimize it. He said ok. So he is a level 3 Cleric Human. I decided a Grey Elf Beguiler. I decided instead of being snobbish I'd have an abused childhood and be rather anti-elf. In fact I'd dress up as a human. Then I made J's character and had him worship Corellan Larathan(sp?). So then I though, "This is interesting" and decided to make a backstory for J because he won't (but will appreciate it) and he doesn't need to take it if he doesn't want it. So now, there is one elf who dislikes them and thinks they are trash and one human who thinks elves are awesome. I am going to make the backstories tomorrow but wanted to put this out there. This should be interesting. I don't think it will rip the party up though. I mean it's really just like arguments about if we should trust someone. |

I havent the slightest clue as to what your asking of us. :P The idea sounds cool enough, tension in the party, but then again, tension as a result of racism usually results in the racist person realising how stupid and pointless being racist is, and they amend their ways (or continue to be stupid). Better off finding something else to stage conflict over, perhaps the elves father was part of a party that attacked the humans ancestors several decades previous... make him hate that elven family line in paticular... not elves as a whole. Just a though. Peace |

I was playing a sun elf psion who got kicked out of Evermeet for daring to study psionics. He hated his own people with such a passion that he changed his name to Essdagnir (lit. Elf-bane). My friend was playing an elf supremacist who thought all humans were stupid animals incapable of civilized thought. We never had too many problems. We had alot of fun playing out our various predjudices. Ok, it didn't end well but that wasn't due to our predjudices (it had more to do with me being dominated by an evil wizard and killing him along with half of the party). Opposed characters leads to much more active roleplaying. Intra-party dynamics are a good thing. |
