I am not sure about level development of the character I am creating. It's a 1st level sorcerer transformed into a vampire. If I understand the rules correctly (using version 3.0), the effective level of this character is 9 (1st lev. warrior and +8 adjustment for beeing a vampire).

Now, the question is - how does such character's level progress after gaining enough experience? Does she hop through the levels as warrrior after gaining 1000XP, 2000XP, etc.? If so, I have a problem with too quick development of the character, as she will be a member of a party of characters with levels 9-11, who are progressing more slowly and the vampire would soon be the strongest character of all...

Can anyone tell me if I am right about the speed of level advancement?

HINT!!!!!

Get the libris mortis book, it has level advancments to play a vampire character!
I don't have it on me right now, otherwise I'd take the time and post it for you. I am playing a vampire character myself! Ask the GM if he is willing to make the vamp change in game or if your going start that way. Also do an XP Requirment change
The XP to go to level 2 should be equivalent to level 10. Your level will be one, but when calculating exp. its as if you are 8 levels higher.

Dire wolf form....*giggle*
Go from gaseous form, mold to appear like a demonic presence, lunge towards your enemy, and use your free action of transformation into Dire Wolf. Depending on what your against, works great to strike in fear and make battles easier sometimes.

Well, my libris mortis book is hopefully somewhere above the Atlantic Ocean now, as it was dispatched by amazon yesterday :D

Anyway, thanks for the explanation, it makes more sense than what I thought before. I am actually the GM in an unpleasant position to explain the situation to the player - he has been exited by the idea of his vampire quickly reaching higher levels...
