| nightwyrm12-06-06, 03:50 PM | Just wondering if it's possible to justify a vampire or half-vampire paladin. How would he play out? |
| Agent Graves12-06-06, 06:31 PM | imho you can justify almost any character with a good backstory. what alignment were you thinking of? the half-vampire paladin is a classic 'fighting against the demons within' character. You can look at blade- a half vampire stuggling with his own hunger, fighting not only the demons within, but also the demons without. You can play the character as a cursed soul, always wandering trying to atone for his sins. You could play him as a vigilanty using the disease as a tool for his gods work. Maybe its a schizophrenic thing, and by day he is a righteous warrior, but by night his inner demon takes hold and he can't control it. |
| Doomed_Penguin12-06-06, 06:40 PM | A half-vampire paladin could be fighting against the vampires that did whatever to his parents, and turn out to be a very good character, and fun to play. A vampire paladin has alignment issues (vampire: any evil / paladin: lawful good (assuming you aren't using unearthed arcana variants)). |

| nightwyrm12-07-06, 12:31 AM | Thanks for the great ideas. My DM is gonna run a urban campaign that's heavy in role playing. I'll run the half-vamp idea by her and see if its ok. |
| Kitaki12-07-06, 08:06 AM | Here is a question, if you play a half-vampire, will you drink blood, half-vamps have the option to drink blood or not, but if you choose to you have to in order to live. I ran a half-vampire rogue once, worked out really well, most of the time I just drank the blood of an animal, in a large town or city I went after the criminals, gave the paladin issues. He had to deal with "he just drank someone's blood, but that person was just about to murder someone else." PS I never killed the people I drank from either, just because it gave the Paladin more issues. |

Each time you beginning drinking a humanoid's blood, you should have to make a will save to stop drinking. The more blood you drink, the higher the DC. And the more you drink from the same person, the higher the DC, because your inner demon wish "more" from this person... |

Actually we did that, I just didn't tell the paladin when I failed to stop (go Bluff checks). |
