Here's the character history I wrote up for an evil campaign. Tell me what you think. The reason he joined up with the theives was for the plot so our characters would know each other. Couldn't really get descriptive as to reasons I joined, as that will probably be roleplayed out.

Victor Grimm was born into a poor family, the youngest of 3. His brother Samuel, was his elder by 5 years.. Melody, his sister, was born 2 years after him, is an assistant to a dressmaker. His father, Nicolas, was a hard working man, doing several different types of manual labor, such as mining. His mother, Maia, was a housewife until the time of her death, caring deeply for her husband and children.
Samuel Grimm joined a bandit group at the young age of 12, never knowing where it would lead him just 6 years later. He ran away from home to join the bandits, not even leaving a note for his family. The leader of the group had promised him much glory in the future, much more than he could get by staying at home. Those promises stayed unfulfilled throughout his stint, but he decided to stick with it in hope of becoming wealthy. One fateful day, only weeks after he turned 18, him and several co-bandits were routinely stopping a group of workers heading off to the mines. The workers all had hoods over their head to guard them from the heat. The miners refused to give in to the bandits’ demands and attacked with their picks, causing a small battle. Samuel had gotten very skilled with a bow, and aimed at the foremost of the workers, striking him in the heart with pinpoint accuracy. Several bandits died, but soon they overcame the workers, killing them all. While looting the man he struck with an arrow, Sam caught a glimpse of the man he killed, and to his dismay, it was his father. He abruptly took off the necklace hanging from the neck of the victim, stuffing it in his pocket. He snuck into town one night and left a letter in front of the door of his old house, revealing what had happened to his father. Along with the letter was the heirloom. His body was found outside of town, and his death was apparent suicide.
Melody Grimm’s history isn’t so grim, pardon the pun. She always was a nice girl, helping around the house, doing what she could to help her mother, before and after her father’s death. When she was old enough, she got a job as a barmaid to help her mother out with money. She got sick of all the men in the bar trying to woo her and generally treating her like they would a cheap prostitute, and one day a man offered her a job as a seamstress to help him make dresses. She is not married, and she doesn’t get around. She is a shy woman, but very beautiful. She still lives with her mother, helping her out however she can.
Maia Grimm lives a normal life. She has never held a job, as her parents and eventually her husband and children took care of her. She never got over her husband’s death, never remarrying or even dating for that matter. She thinks about him every day, and even spent what little money she had one month to pay for a painting of him, which hangs in the kitchen of her house. Nicolas was the only man she ever loved.
Nicolas Grimm was a good man in most people’s eyes, always taking care of his family’s needs before his own. As a young man he spent a few years in the militia, earning a high rank before leaving to pursue a career in manual labor. He met Maia in a tavern while drinking with a few buddies. He was very proud of his children, and went out of his way to spend time with them. He never expected the last image he would see would be that of his oldest son releasing an arrow into his heart.
Victor Grimm was never really a good kid. He got into trouble at school often, and often stole things. He wasn’t ever happy with anything, and ran away several times before returning home. He was 8 with his older brother ran away, which is a likely influence on him. When he was 13, he heard of his father and brother’s deaths. He dropped out of school so he could provide for his mother, but the way he went about it wouldn’t be something Maia would be proud of. He stole bread from merchants, clothes from tailors, and sometimes a money pouch off of unsuspecting people. One day, he was quite drawn to pickpocket off of a man in all black that was taking a shortcut through an alleyway. It seemed he was one step ahead of Victor, though, and grabbed his arm and covered his mouth before a scream could escape his lungs. A simple “come with me” was all the man uttered. Victor was too much in shock to decline the command, and followed the man until they finally reached the temple of Hades. Victor was quite confused as to what was happening. Soon, three clerics came into the room where he was left and explained that he was a favored soul of Hades. Victor laughed, but as the clerics explained further he began to realize that they were speaking the truth. When he heard that he was able to use clerical magic, it hit him. He recalled a point in time that he had skinned his knee, and held it out of pain. By the time he had lifted his hands, the knee was fine. When he asked if that was one of the powers he was granted, the clerics just nodded. They told him to return when he was ready to undergo training and learn more about Hades. They promised him a salary enough to let his mother have everything she needed and more, while still keeping some for himself. He ran away from home, leaving a note that he had found a way to keep her financially healthy, and joined the temple of Hades. He was groomed by the high ranking members there to get the most out of the powers Hades had granted him, and eventually earned a high rank before joining a group of interesting personalities that performed heists and the like.

To be continued…

The start doesn't seem too bad, except there's two inconsistencies that I noticed.

1 - Victor is the youngest of the three, but you have Melody born 2 years after - making him a middle child.

2 - At age 13, you say he hears of the death of the father he kills 5 years later.

Beyond that, it seems fine as far as backgrounds go. It's not too heavy, but it has solid story potential. I would, however, like to see Victor's persona (and the rest of his background) before commenting in depth.

Didn't notice that I put him as the youngest up top, supposed to be middle, thanks. Also, his brother was the one that killed his father, and is 5 years older than him. I can see how you got confused though. Thanks for the feedback, I'll write more later after I get some sleep.
