This is just something I want to write up on one of my newest BBEG for my latest campaign. My players don't read the forums so the chance they'll see it is slim to none, however I would greatly appreciate any help with making this guy more vile and believable. Firstly, a bit of bio information Real Name: Aldan Dering Taken Name: Aurion súl-Vecna Race: Human Class: Wizard Age: 68 Family: Ruling Family of Rowley Living Relatives: Several Cousins, Younger Brother Height: 5' 8" Weight: 160 lbs. Hair: Grey/White Eyes: Smoke Distinguishing marks: Missing Left Hand, Scar Around Right Eye Brief Approximate Stat Rundown (Note this is after item enhancements) Str 10 Dex 10 Con 12 Int 26 Wis 16 Cha 20 Background Aurion is a man driven by an intense lust for power, a need to outdo his late father's expansive kingdom of Rowley. This is derived from his expulsion from the very kingdom he loved and would do anything to make more powerful in the days of his youth. He sees the horrible experiments he committed in secrecy on both man a beast a necessity that would have made the nation nearly unstoppable. Upon discovering this vile secret the king was forced by the law to kill his son, but the kindly King Hollis III could not bear to destroy his eldest son. Instead the King faked his son’s death and exiled him from the fertile valleys of Rowley never to return. [/INDENT] The salvation at the hands of his father only made Aurion bitter, as he knew a powerful ruler would have neither killed him nor set him free, but used the knowledge he had found to empower the nation. He set about on a quest for power in order to overturn the throne and take his rightful place atop it to make the nation truly prosper. In his long search he found a god in the Maimed Lord, with secrets of power whispered into his soul. At the cost of his left hand he pledged himself as the son-on-earth of Vecna and followed the Master of Secret’s whispers into the Drowning Dark (AKA the Underdark). At the age of 28 he began to slowly enshroud Rowley in a web of influence as his father stepped down from the throne and his younger brother took up the crown. He sought to manipulate every aspect of the nation he could perceive as being of use, his influence growing secretly in the shadows. He sought out monsters and outcasts, using his sway to bring them unknowingly into his fold, using them like tools and tossing them away when it served his needs. He now has a hand in almost everything in the nation, though his methods are unclear, perhaps even to himself. His latest steps take him farther and farther from sanity and closer to the whispered secrets in his own mind. All he needs now is the one driving force to bring everything together, something to weaken Rowley enough that he can unite the separate forces under his true command and wash the current ruling family from the land to start anew and rule the nation that should have been his. So he watches and waits, for he knows he will soon grasp the power he needs, as the whispers tell him so. PS. Sorry about the length and the slow decent into a rambling story, but this is the first villain I’ve made I actually LIKE.
