| Christman05-30-06, 01:03 AM | I'm working on a few adventures for a campagin of mine, with the tying aspect from them all being a duo of Drow villians. A brother (Assassin) and sister (Wizard). Their exact reasons for being above ground and after the party aren't ironed out yet, but I'm having some serious trouble with another aspect of them, their names. I've been trying to think of two names for them that would make it obvious they were brother and sister, while still being a good, memorable villian name. So far, I've got nothing. So...can you good folks help me out here? |
| Fithero05-30-06, 03:51 AM | Well... first names are whatever you want.. but its the last name that counts... just for the sake of making themselves seem different and alien, id choose a complicated last name. "Illumiska'dae'othii" (Ill-um-iss-car'-day'-oth-e) "Villuwhin'mareskobar" (Villu-win'-mayor-esko-bar) "Jym'thil" (Jime'-thill) Im not sure if this is what your looking for, but i hope it helps... just throw together a random assortment of letters.... should work out :P Later |

The siblings were young then, and somehow managed to survive together. Perhaps the brother is older and hence has some schooling in the ways of combat, hence he manages to bring the youngest of his sisters running from the underdark. You can then form a 2-3 near-impronouncable syllables each for their given names, and then repeat their house names. Eg: Benrrzz (Ben-riz) Hallin'nm (Ha-lin-nim) and Shkkll (She-kull) Hallin'nm I personally do not fancy overlong names for mortal characters, reserving uber-tounge-twisters for outsiders. |
| club2bash06-04-06, 08:24 PM | Marath (mar-ath) for the Brother Kythia (keethia) for the sister |
| Pan_Ai_Khan06-06-06, 08:20 AM | The names don't have to be Drow. Any 'dynamic duo' type names will suffice (the surface dwellers don't have to know their real names (and the Drow would probably prefer it that way anyhow)). 'Cloak' and 'Dagger' immediately spring to mind (cliche'd I know). How about 'Malice' (a listed drow name) and 'Hubris' ? I could probably think of a few more, given time. |
| FIREBLAST3DRAGONMASTER06-06-06, 02:41 PM | First off Malice won't do because it is Drizzt's mothers name and i is forbidden to use tht name now tht she has been.....disposed....try something like arcania the forgoten (arcane-ia) for the wiz and pilfer the cold-blooded. Obviously these are surface names given to them strictly by reputation from the locals. And for the record females in drow society are forced to study the ways of Lolth, the Spider Queen and made to become clerics. However, this could be why their house was destroyed. For she did upet the balance and Lolth doesn't look to kindly upon that. |
| Fithero06-06-06, 10:03 PM | First off Malice won't do because it is Drizzt's mothers name and i is forbidden to use tht name now tht she has been.....disposed..... Its not forbidden, how many people do you know with the name James? Im quite certain there are dozens of drow with the name Malice, the one you speak of is just the most famous. And for the record females in drow society are forced to study the ways of Lolth, the Spider Queen and made to become clerics. No thier not actually, there are female drow who are warriors (House soldiers etc) aswell as a few who are wizards (think of Gromph's daughter). I will agree that nick names that are connected to their reputation are a good idea though. Later |
| FIREBLAST3DRAGONMASTER06-07-06, 12:06 PM | Thanks for fixing my perceptions on Drow society good sir for Pelor looks down upon thee with the highest regard. |
| Pan_Ai_Khan06-08-06, 08:20 AM | Thought of another couple of duos: Discord and Harmony Pandemoneum and Despair |
| Ouranos Harpy06-09-06, 01:37 AM | If you're looking for duality try these out: Layla and Noor; Darkness and Light. Boaz and Jachin; I don't actually want to explain this. To those who know good for you, to those who don't...that's ok...it's not that interesting. But something Drow; Ghayba = Male assassin. Root word Ghayab meaning invisible in Urdu. Ja'uda= Female spellcaster. Root word Jadu meaning magic in Urdu. |
