| Wizards_White_Knight05-10-05, 03:05 AM | I would like my next character to be Chaotic Neutral. However, my group never really roleplays properly, even though we do try. It's jsut we liek the storyline to move on, or the next combat to happen, so we roleplay as little as possible sometimes jsut to keep it moving. I would liek ot actually roleplay properly for our next campaign, and I have a character concept of a slightly unhinged character. To avoid the pitfalls that I read all over the boards of Chaotic Neutral characters, I wrote a brief passage explaining my characters view on life. I am Roewyn. Life to me is a game. It’s an adventure. My goal is to live as much of life as possible. Boredom is my biggest foe. My body is a weapon and a tool. To get what I want, all is fair. There is no wrong in anything I do, just means I am better at the game. Not all players are enemies, and not all players are allies. Sometimes the best part of the game is trying to decipher when to play an ally and when to play an enemy. If allies prevent me from doing what I want to do, they become enemies. Never take the game too seriously. No sense in holding grudges, unless someone holds one against me first. If they can’t handle the game, they shouldn’t play. Take them out of the game. Then everyone is happy again. Laugh. Smile. Never cry and never frown. Life is too short for these things. When everyone is playing the game, be wary what allies you let become friends. Perhaps they are just masters of the game. A friend should never be suspected of trying to backstab. I will never backstab a friend. Is this a fitting description of Chaotic Neutral? Her backstory is she is the orphaned child of a Good aligned Teifling and an Aasimar, whose relationship was obviously not accepted by anyone. SHe was raised by a bard (Her class) and is very skill sorientated. She uses a whip and throwing daggers, so she isn't overly comabt orientated, but really high rolls have left me with an awesome charisma (Despite being a Tiefling) and Intelligence. She has difficulty struggling with her blood, unable to be swayed either way, and it leaves her feeling lost and quite often confused with life. Her strengths will come in social situations and stealth and intrigue missions. So is my outlook who you would expect a Chaotic Neutral to act? Any tips how to roleplay her? Any quirks you can suggest she has? It is very important that she coems out always seeming confident, and let ehr actions show how confused and lost she feels. |

It can be really funny, as it can be really disruptive. I mean, if most of the players want to go to city A and you go to city B just because, then the party is splitted, and there's no fun. However, if most of the players want to go to city A, you could decide that you have something to do before going to city A, and steal an light horse to catch them in the run for city A. In general, try to avoid fight in the party. If you suddenly decide to join the orcs you were hunting, tell them that the other PCs are more valuable alive than dead... |
| Wizards_White_Knight05-10-05, 10:35 PM | Yeah I would really like to avoid "I want ot do this because I am chaotic neutral and I can." Thats why she views teh world as a game. She has no REAL purpose, other than to live life. AS far as she is concerned, teh party she is with shares her goals, because they go out and ADVENTURE! So in that way, she will pretty much always follow the PC's. I do intend to steal items from them. (The DM insisted we play evil characters. This is my compromise) However, she realises that she isnt the greatst combatant in the world, so she wont take everythign all at once, as she needs the PC's as protectors, and she views this as a clever manipulation. Mainly gold and jewelery which she can sell to anyone. She is one of the chaotic neutral that is likely to jump off a bridge than to cross it, simply because she has never jumped off a bridge before. But probably only once, cause she isnt suicidal, and loves to live. Any character traits or quirks to suggest? |
| Tonymitsu05-13-05, 05:11 AM | Any character traits or quirks to suggest? Daredevil, risk taker, trouble seeker. Any of those. A very fun personality quirk. She would be the one to walk up and try to pull the 8 inch diamond out from underneath the sleeping dragons right claw when the party has already loaded half the hoard in the wagon outside. Just to see if she can. And an accent. Give her a really thick, annoying, English accent and use it when you talk in character. I did the same thing for the first chaotic neutral character I played and it was great. :) Try to keep this in mind when deciding if doing something would be with your alignment: Later, if a party members says, "Why would you do that?!?!", respond with, "Well it seemed like a good idea at the time." *innocent shrug* Chaotic neutral characters that aren't lunatics tend to be that way either because they like to try new things (as you suggested with the bridge jumping) or because they don't fully think about the consequences of their actions. |
