Hes a little stereotypical being a bit of a glory hound (has taken the as of yet unproved monicker of "Thaden the Glorious) so only a little bit of one. I'm having trouble with a non gimmicky backstory that includes his school but I'm a bit stuck on as of what to do with it. He's human if it makes any difference. |

| elliott2003-31-08, 10:20 AM | try this angle: WHY is he a glory hound? BTW, "Glory Hound" ended up being the name of one of our superhero NPCs in our superheroes game. (The players played not the heroes, but the clean up crew FOR the superhero destruction) When you ask the why, you get the how. Maybe it's his way of finding acceptance among his peers in a culture that finds value only in combat. Maybe he's like Jen from Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, where she has fantasies about the life of a wondering swordsman. (in the story, those expectations ultimately ended up falling apart) Maybe he's not REALLY a glory hound, but just has a dramatic flair within him that he can't help. Maybe his martial arts style is flashy because it believes that if you can feign confidence, your enemy will feel it too and it in turn will turn things towards your favor. Or maybe, he's just your generic shonen comic hot head who has a hard time understanding why a little humility could do you some good at times. Explore the reasoning for that personality, and if you can think of a good reason for it, drill on it until it's almost a little perverse! |

Quiet an awesome book and has made for an interesting character guide for my Warblade. The Eastern flare of the books thoughts can be easily converted into a more fantasy line of thinking. |
