| TheAngryFish03-24-07, 09:48 AM | What would be a good background story for someone who attempts to spread pestilence and destruction in any way possible? That really sounded weird now that i think about it, but anyway; I was going for a character similar to warlocks of the warcraft universe, who try to summon demons, and have all kinds of death and fire spells. I was mostly wondering what class or classes to chose, and also what kind of person would become a warlock. |

Anywhere from your one demensional evil for evils sake cult. To trying to restore balance in a world where magic is curing so many diseases that people are actually getting sicker from immune systems that are becoming atrophied and if it keeps up a common cold may become a deadly disease. Maybe you have been wronged somehow and are willing to do whatever it takes to get the power to strike back at the person that harmed you even worship an evil god/goddess on a contractual basis. They give you these abilities you do this much evil and agree to serve them in the afterlife for this long. Well that's three concept ideas now for the build. There are a couple of ways you could go about this but I think the best bet is gonna be cleric/malconvocker (complete scoundrel)/thaumatergist(DMG)/Malconvocer. Lots of deamon summoning fun. A host of poison spells and some good fire based spells. Though your definatly looking at evil dieties and creatures. Another way to go might be Wizard(or sorcer)/master specialist(complete mage) (not important, you can just get it quick and it adds something for nothing if our already a specialist wizard otherwise ignor this part)/ Bonded Summoner (mini.s handbook). This gives you the feel of having a major entitiy at your beck and call but it looses alot of the flavor. Or Wizard/master sp/maloconvoker/Master Spec. less poison based spells and disease but and a conjurer with acess it Unearthed Arcana you can get rid of your feats for Augment summoning and yourf amiliar for rapid summoning. Of course there is not reason you couldn't also do this with the above build also. The augment summoning is a feat your going to need anyway and really after the first couple of levels how many scrolls do you scribe and at low level, low level scrolls are relatively cheap. As for the lost future feats, well your not going to be a wizard long enough to get any of them because you get more out of multiclassing to PrC.s with classs abilities. Rapid summoning is a huge ability that basicly adds swift spell to all your summons for no cost. This allows such wonderful things as casting moving and getting some damage done on the first round of combat when summoning and perhaps my fav. DM: roll init. You(on your init.): Do I see anyone that looks like a caster. DM: roll spot at -x to scan the battlefield and see if you see anyone DM: Yes you see someone with an ornate staff in the back and no weapons digging through pouches in the back. You: I hold my action to cast summon monster Z when he starts to cast a spell to try to disrupt it. .... DM: He's starting to cast a spell you quickly finish the summons you had prepared for this moment. You: I summon (d4+1) whatever around the caster all of them flanking with eachother. DM: roll your attacks DM: Okay you didn't disrupt his spell so he's still castering You: Hold up a sec. then all my monsters get attacks of oppertuny because he's not casting defensivly. The best build flavor wise but is impossible umless your DM lets do some tinkering to get the requirements would probally be druid with their host of fire and poison spells. but again you wouldn't be able to summon very good and I get the feeling that is mostly what you want. (though my warlock on WoW only uses his succubi to augment his mana supply). |
