One of my players had their PC die, and the player wants to play a warforged cleric, starting lvl 1. I told him I would help with the crunchy and fluffy bits, as he is new to Eberron. However, we are both a little fuzzy on how a being created for war can start channeling divine energies.

We have agreed on the following:
Name: Pike
Country of Origin: Breland
War-Time Function: Medic (for the fleshies)
Domains: Artifice and Community (these can be changed but the player likes them)
Feat: Adamantium Body

We were thinking that he wouldn't worship a god or pantheon. Rather he just sort of stumbled upon the realization that he could do all these new things, i.e. cast clerical spells and turn undead. That just doesn't sit well with me. Perhaps he draws his power in his belief in the existence of souls for all warforged?

So I am asking you folks to help us find some sort of reasonable way or belief/faith system for a warforged to gain clerical power.

Thanks :)

No stumbling - his medic training was given by a no-deity-specified cleric.

During his off hours the cleric would often sit with his pupils and discuss many topics religion amongst them.

***

These discussions and the rapt attention the warforged paid to the cleric's actions and words lead him to an epihany ( the erureka moment ) There must be a force for good that would accept his worship, and he found it.

As he was being trained primarily to take care of others - and as the discussions were often about the betterment of the whole - his first domain and spell was community based
