| Fithero03-18-07, 06:34 AM | I got the latest Dragon Mag and it has an article on how to randomly generate the appearance of a Warforged. Now, although the one i rolled up seems to have been born purely to be a druid, i had a rather odd idea that i wanted to run by you all. (i might get flamed for this) Has anyone ever considered playing a warforged based on Bender from Futurama? A sarcastic, foul mouthed, alcoholic, chain smoking, chaotic neutral Warforged rogue? How could that ever NOT sound fun? :P If anyone has any ideas on this sort of character, drop em off... Peace |
| Need_A_Life03-18-07, 06:10 PM | Has anyone ever considered playing a warforged based on Bender from Futurama?Never having seen it, no. A sarcastic, foul mouthed, alcoholic, chain smoking, chaotic neutral Warforged rogue? Sarcastic. Check! Alcoholic. Not w/ a warforged. Chainsmoking. Not avaliable in setting, unfortunately (I checked). CN. Yea, of course. Rogue. No, it was a mage. 2/5... *snif* |
| Fithero03-19-07, 11:06 AM | Well... there's smokeable's in the world that im going to be playin in, so that wont be a problem. And how havent you heard of bender? As for the character in general, does anyone have any ideas as to what sort of background he could have? Peace |
| Terjon of the Blue Rose03-20-07, 02:55 AM | Oh most definitly. Try starting him with a military background. He lived all 3 years of his life side by side with the good ol' boys, the grunts, the "another day older and deeper in debt" boys. He can't be alchoholic is true since warforged are immune to poison (read alchohal) but that doesn't mean he can't drink. As a matter of fact he's probably won more drinking contest than his dwarf seargent did. Remember when designing a warforged that they were created for war. Any people he's met in his life were one of two things to him Creator or Comrade. Well that or dead after the battle. |
| Fithero03-20-07, 03:12 AM | Im thinking that he was probably used as part of a post-war clean up crew... carting the dead bodies of humans around so they could be burnt/buried or whatever. He would have gained his sarcastic nature from his self-demeaning jokes and his flare for theft from stealing items from corpses. Im going to play up the fact that he totally doesnt understand humans at all, not realising people are in pain and laughin at them because they look funny as they writhe in agony. He will drink alot just to show that he can do it... and make fun of humans who suffer the nasty side effects, and he will smoke because he saw a warrior doing it once and he thought he looked cool. I think ill have him take the fearless feat aswell, he doesnt quite understand that your meant to be scared by some things. He will live totally for the 'now', with no regrets from the past and no regards for the future. All in all he is very child like... but im not sure, does he seem to much of a robot? Chiers |
| Terjon of the Blue Rose03-20-07, 03:20 AM | watch the episode where bender gets a chip that forces him to feel what leela feels. |
| Fithero03-20-07, 06:35 AM | Coulpe of quotes ill steal from him. "What the hell are you looking at?" "Im not allowed to *insert action*, court order." "Im back baby" "Who are you and why should i care?" "Everybody was doing it, i just wanted to be popular" "What do you mean 'we', flesh-tube?" "What kind of moronic plan is that?" "Only one way to find out" "Thats a complete load" |
| LoneStranger03-20-07, 01:16 PM | Honestly that sounds like a bloody funny idea, don't forget to write in the occasional run-in with the law for some of the scams he's tried to run. another quote: "I'm 40% <insert substance here>" |
| CrimsonDeath03-20-07, 03:03 PM | And the big one: "Bite my shiny metal..." |
| Fithero03-20-07, 08:42 PM | "Hey, if i thought there would be a whole other life after this one, id kill myself right now.":D Does anyone have any idea of what class/s they recon he should be? (At the moment im thinking fighter/rogue... no idea of prc's though) Another point im fussing over, is what weapon do you think he should use? Cross-bows for something unique maybe? (suped up ones of course) Peace |
| Terjon of the Blue Rose03-21-07, 02:00 AM | This is bender and you've got a slam attack. Try enchanting your slam with some sundering magic. (enchanting yourself can get a bit iffy so you may have to get permission for this) |
| Fithero03-21-07, 08:45 PM | Im not up to date on Ebberon, but ive heard that warforged can attatch certain weapons to the end of the limbs. If this is true, could anyone jot done a short list of these weapons, not their stats, just what they are (more for flavor than anything). If i dont do that, then i might go with the good old slam attack, and possible get that powerfull jaw feat too... then stack up on the multi-attack feats. Anyway, as for names, i was thinking of either Dragin (Sounds like Dragon) or Carter (Cos he used to 'Drag' or 'Cart' the bodies around :rimshot:) Chiers |
| CrimsonDeath03-22-07, 04:42 AM | This is bender and you've got a slam attack. Try enchanting your slam with some sundering magic. (enchanting yourself can get a bit iffy so you may have to get permission for this) Or get a Battlefist (Warforged component, price = weapon enchantments +600gp, makes your slam deal damage as if you were two size categories larger). Im not up to date on Ebberon, but ive heard that warforged can attatch certain weapons to the end of the limbs. If this is true, could anyone jot done a short list of these weapons, not their stats, just what they are (more for flavor than anything). Aside from the Battlefist, I only know of the Armblade (bastard sword), Armbow (repeating light crossbow), and wand sheath (holds a wand), all of which are in the Eberron Campaign Setting book. |
| Fithero03-22-07, 11:04 PM | At the moment im kinda tossing up between these two weapon ideas - Takes the Second Slam and Jaws of Death feats and just focuses on using his natural weapons OR Wields a sword and shield (very knight-esque) Im thinking that for his background, he wasnt made to be corpse disposal unit... there was a mix up and he was placed there by accident. He was destined (and designed) to be a body guard for some noble's child. He has the mithral plating as armour which has been crafted with intricate designs. Im thinking some sort of a motiff of dragons or a great battle or something... help with this idea would be appreciated. The knowledge that he was actually destined for something (a hell of alot) greater that transporting corpses will also add to his negative/sarcastic outlook on life. Chiers (Ps: Now he can say "Bite my shiny metal a$$ and mean it :D) |
| NerdNumber103-22-07, 11:21 PM | Actually he is powered by alchohol ("it fuels my power cells") and he only smokes because it makes him "look cool". He never did any real fighting but stole a lot and could bend metal like it was rubber. He was never made for a combat adventurer, so a D&D PC would have to be greatly altered. |
| Fithero03-23-07, 12:33 AM | Has anyone ever considered playing a warforged based on Bender from Futurama? A sarcastic, foul mouthed, alcoholic, chain smoking, chaotic neutral Warforged rogue? And he did fight... he fought Flexo :D |
| Terjon of the Blue Rose03-23-07, 02:37 AM | If he was destined for something more does he know yet that Flexo, who was meant for corpse disposal, got sent to his destination?;) |
| Sphyre03-26-07, 04:47 AM | Has anyone ever considered playing a warforged based on Bender from Futurama? Yes. I have seen it many times. Joked about it many times, and the warforged I'm playing will be saying "bite my shiny adamantine ass" sometime. But beyond references, I won't ever model my characters off an existing character. I much prefer to be creative, rather than play something someone else essentially made, and put it to shame by pretending I'm playing a character I didn't truely create. Someone's rolling in their grave somewhere everytime someone makes a clone. |
| Fithero03-26-07, 11:05 PM | Sphyre, im not playing bender... im playing a character that has the basic concept of bender, but has been warped and changed to such an extent that my character will never be recognised as bender. I am being creative, everyone who has posted here is being creative, were just using the concept of bender as a stepping stone to a new character. Im not making a clone... Say something useful next time please. Now that thats aside, i totally didnt think about what he would do when he found the warforged who was sent to be the body guard instead of him. How do you think he would react? Would he be outraged at being cheated by the corpse carrier, or would he act non-chalant and act as though he didnt care (would he actually care at all?) Peace |
| CrimsonDeath03-30-07, 02:58 AM | Hmm... It just occurred to me that, as the guy stocking the corpse wagon, this character would be particularly free of moral quandaries regarding the average adventurer's two favorite pastimes: graverobbing and looting corpses. |
| Fithero03-30-07, 07:52 AM | That is a very good point... perhaps that could be one of his character traits (perfectly fine with robbing the dead). He is going to have some pretty odd views of death, if a party member dies, their loot is up for grabs... if theyre later raised... well, their items became his when they were dead, so they are still his. They can have them back when he dies :P Robbing the tomb of some ancient king who united a kingdom... or robbing the grave of some great paladin who saved the world... its all the same :P Oh, i also remembered... Bender was in the URFL (Ultime Robot Fighting League) and he also fought against the cast of Star Trek... so he's had plenty of combat experience. As for adventuring... its Bender... hes always getting into wacky adventures with Fry and Leela Any other thoughts? Peace |
| Prom04-08-07, 12:05 AM | Hi Fithero, What an entertaining game it would be with a sarcastic, foul mouthed, alcoholic, chain smoking, chaotic neutral Warforged rogue. Love the idea. Prom:clap: |
| Potantsuem04-10-07, 11:17 AM | Never having seen it, no. Sarcastic. Check! Alcoholic. Not w/ a warforged. Chainsmoking. Not avaliable in setting, unfortunately (I checked). CN. Yea, of course. Rogue. No, it was a mage. 2/5... *snif* This may already have been mentioned, if it has sorry for saying it all over again. There are actually smokes in Eberron. Some of the most famous cigars come from Korth. If you are wanting evidance of this in the rules you probably will not find them. However if you read some Keith Baker (creator of Eberron of course) novels you will see NPCs sharing cigars and talking about them in his books. |
