First of all, this is not a thread asking about examples of Warforge names. I've got the general idea of how to pick names for the 'forged.

However, I've created a Warforged (Fighter 1/Paladin 5) character with the designation Fourteen with the idea that one of his goals if to find himself a name that fits him. A quest to find (or perhaps earn) a True Name of sorts but ignoring all the True Name Magic stuff.

I'm just a little lost on how to play the character. The only idea I have is to just ask for people's names... but that comes off as more of a quirk and makes the whole life goal as frivolous.

So any tips?

Someone told him he has a name, that will be revealed to him when he is ready/finds the secret temple where the name is written.

I named my warforged artificer Iron. He in turn named his homunculi Anvil and Smoke. I tend to see warforged as taking their names from their literal qualities. Consider having him take new names whenever he discovers a new quality within himself. For example when faced with a choice of potentially betraying his friends he does not. He then starts asking to be called by the name Loyal. When he stands against all odds and wins he changes his name to Stalwart. Continue to change names until you find or someone gives you a name that you feel is a good defining one and then take great pride in it.

Aaarrrgh's idea is actually a good one. My GM has this big story line going and I have an idea that would result in my character getting a name.

Incidentally, I have already prechosen a name for him. Sterling. I just wanted an interesting way for him to find it.
