| AlphaMagic08-25-05, 01:49 AM | I was reading through Both the Complete arcane and Races of Ebbron, And i thought how awsome would a Warforged Warlock be. Then i go back to read over the Warforged Chapter and then the Warlock class only to find that I needed to trade a part of my soul to get these powers, and seeing that i dont have any ancestors How am i suppose to write a background that will make it possible for me to be a Warforged Warlock? |
| Fithero08-25-05, 02:19 AM | Warforged are living constructs if i recall correctly (not an ebberon player im not 100% sure) so the key term in that is "living". He has a soul, and a constitution score aswell, so he is alive as any of the fleshy races. Perhaps when he gave up his soul (or part of it) he became cold and calculation, more like a normal construct than a living creature. Later |
| Gingerbread Guy08-25-05, 10:19 AM | It's not written in stone, but any creature that can be resurrected essentially has a soul. This happens to include Warforged. In short, your Warforged has a soul that he can therefore sell for nifty beam shooty powers of doom from hell. ~Ginger |
| Smiley08-27-05, 08:45 AM | Don't forget to give him the AOE-Level drain spell he gains later on  I hate warlocks... immensely.. As for your question.. consider this; what does your Warforged have to offer? Not much, so maybe if you took one of the armor-enhancing feats (Adamantine), the demon/devil could've stripped you of that in a ritual, to gain it himself, thus granting you powers... This would cause you to loose a feat, but hey as powerful as you'll be, you wont need it anyway. Maybe your creator (I don't remember what house made them, cannith?), made you as an experiment (as most warforged are is seems  ), and maybe they struck a deal with a devil/demon to enhance your abilities. Kinda like it "isn't your fault" and you were forced into becomming one.. |
| Rathis Darkwielder08-27-05, 08:51 AM | Or you would just make an alternative background for the warlock class :) For example, it has been suggested on the Eberron boards that warlocks with warlock levels might have been produced to be more or less living artillery to attach to 'normal' warforged squads. In modern terms, these guys would be the machine gun teams between the regular soldiers, capable of pumping out a continueous hail of firepower towards the foe, even while advancing along with the rest of the regular soldiers. Of course, these 'forged were only produced near the end of the last war and most will not even have seen actual combat during the war, since they were still prototypes at that stage. |
| Moon-Lancer08-27-05, 11:42 AM | the first thing when i thought of warforged warlock, is give him some mecha arms with lazer guns attached and have them fire the eldritch blast and whatnot. fell flight... blaster boots. Invisibility... cloaking device. He could be a demon robot like in wildarms or a robot like in chrono trigger. Man... i like the idea of a warforged warlock and the mecha thing im going to have to do that sometime. Also dont forget warforged can get wand guantlits that fire out of thier arms. He could be a new model and the plant he was made in was distroyed right after he was built. or maybe an old inventer created him and was killed becuse he created you. also you could get struck by lightning like in shortcircut the movie. You could also and or be a animal that has been awakend and your in the mecha body. and your mission is to distroy all technology that threatends the earth, and when your mission is compleat you can distroy the suit of armor. |
| red_scare8708-27-05, 09:39 PM | I think you're interpreting the Warlock class incorrectly. It's not that some person sold his soul to some outsider because measly "lvl 1" characters aren't able to contact demons and devils and demons and devils aren't interested in contacting them. It's more that Warlocks have fiendish or fey(or something of that nature) heritage which grants them powers. It's kind of like how sorcerers supposedly have draconic blood. This means that a Warforged couldn't really be a Warlock...although you could always say that whoever created the warforged created him/her/it using some sort "evil unnatural magic" thus granting the warforged warlock abilities. There are also some flavor things that don't make sense with a warforged warlock, such as the fiendish resistence. Warforged don't have skin so it doesn't make much sense for them to gain resistance to certain elements in that way. Of course, you could get around that somehow, just think about it and make things fit. I'm sure it's possible. :D |
| Nurgan_the_drunked08-30-05, 05:14 AM | It's also possible that a 'forged could have absorbed some of the dark power of the mournlands, somehow, so his dark taint comes about that way. To be honest, the backgrounds in CA are suggestions. Anything that provides a dark taint to your character works fine for becoming a warlock. |
| Manyfist08-31-05, 10:02 PM | Lord of Blades has teamed up with Merrix d'Cannith, and started to create the next step in Warforged. Yet the Forge malfunctions as such they try to fix the forge. It's three days intill they could get it running again. LOB and Merrix are confused on what happen, yet the next batch of 'Forge that comes out have no souls. What could be wrong? The bodies are just unanimated bodies, so the 'forged are stripped down and added to the next batch. Yet a Demon/Devil or Fey comes across the discarded Scraps (One's not Worthy to be stripped) and a whim, descides to take it home. Of course if it's a Demon/Devil, they end up passing through Dolurrh, inorder to take shades into createing Demons/Devils. A Dolurrh shade hops into the Warforged, and then the Warforged has a soul and is a Functioning 'Forged. The Demon/Devil Shocked and needs an agent on Eberron to grant him power, so he makes a deal to infuse a bit of his demonic/Devilish aura into the 'forged in return to service. The Warforged, doesn't understand the words that are comming out and nods his head up and Down following the jaw of the Demon/Devil. As such the Demon/Devil trained him to speak Abyssal/Infernal...etc. And is leveled in a Warlock lvl. Yet he needs back up so the Warforged 'X' reanimates the forged forgotten by Merrix and LOB and with the glitch fixed (Souls from Dolurrh were being raided by Devils and Demons) and as such the Demon/Devil comes down and offers you his essence for your service. As such Warlock 'Forged 'Y' is born. ;) |
