Been playing a long time, looking for a challenge. On the Warlock I know he/she is very restricted on spell selection, but did I read it correclty there is no spells slots? I mean they can go all day long using their spells?

Battle mage seems cool but what is the down side, there mus t be a down side.

Thanks in advance

First off wrong side you want this on char. opp. not Car. Dev.

But the once you get into it Warlock vs warmage.

Warlock Pros:
-unlimted blasts - you can blsat all day and night if you want
-3/4 BAB - keeps you in line with rouge and scout classes who are you contemporaries as far as dmg dealing
-DR - Later in the game this is ually more important than actual armor becuse let's face it the attack bonus on most creatures cr 15 or better is so high they are gonna hit unless you've pushed your armor the entire game and have an AC of 50. They also have alot of attacks, so taking a coulple of points out of each can add up to a good totatal each turn

Warlock Cons.
-Strictly Par Damage output - Since we are comparing it to warmage we will assume you are looking for big damage
- Multi-classing problems - your dependent on your warlock progression like a rouge on sneak attack but in ways moreso. Unless you plan on being a sneaky warlock you might want to stick to warlock PrCs.

Warmage Pros
-Armored mage - Allows the use of shields and light armor and medium armor at higher levels with feats to expand this further.
- Damage - Strong front runner for the highest damage dealing class in the game. Warmage edge adding extra damage to already powerful damage spells and free feats to increase that damage further puts warmage on the pre-eminant side of one round damage dealers. (at 20th level you can do 16d6 + 192 + int mod no save to one target up to 24000 feet away with a 40 foot splash radius dealing an additional 12d6 + 144 + int mod save rel. for half or in other words kill an army and it's general 2.2 miles away useing metorswarm and just the feats you get from warmage [you would need to blast for 6 rounds getting max damage on half your dice in order to to mette out the same kind of damage using base warlock])
-more dynamic abilites - warlocks get invocations but warmages get advanced learning. they are able to add things to their spell lists that provied alot of utility. ex: wings of air - fly, cast gust of wind and featherfall.

Warmage Cons.
- 1/2 BAB - I missed. damn, missed agian. missed again screw it FIREBALL!
- limited outside combat - Okay we need to sneak in avoiding the guards otherwise our patron is in be trouble so I'm gonna start off by blowing open the doors with shout and chain lighting the gaurds from there (companions shove a rag in his mouth) murthhhturrrrth
- Advanced AC useless at later levels - Player: HA! hit me now I have an AC of 34. DM: Okay I roll for my old black dragon (cr16)so I need a 9 or better on claw claw bite wing wing tail (and it just keeps getting worse and worse at later levels)

hope it helps some.

i apologise for posting in the wrong area, but wow you gave won hell of a pro and con comparison!:D

Great job, I am looking for something that is basic and just average, therefore making it more challenging for me to play. You know..kinda of tired of all the high powered characters that just roll over everything.

Warlock it is.

Thanks a ton. You rock!\
