| Karish03-21-07, 05:11 PM | Okay... Well, I'm entering a campaign that has already started, but is only at level 2. My character is a Warlock 2, and he'll be joining the party because the DM is planning a meeting in the next town, where my character, who has basically gone bounty hunter as an adventurer, is going to team up with them hopefully when they all realize they're going after the same guy, and that he has hidden in a rather nifty dungeon. All I know. But yeh, basically, I'm trying to think of a good backstory for the character, since this is a fairly strong role-play environment I'm going into. If you need it, he's a human warlock, who is going to split his specialty between his abilities using eldritch blast and stealth. So invocations/items/etc that let him hide, go about quickly and/or unnoticed, or make it harder to sneak up on him are the big list. His stats are Str 12, Dex 16, Con 8, Int 14, Wis 10, Cha 16. He wears a suit of leather armor, and he uses an oversized sickle (upgrade to a medium-sized weapon). The sort of world he lives in, as far as how things go, are pretty much similar to any Greyhawk campaign world as far as what sort of place this is. Where things are and the names of things change, but mostly similar stuff. As far as appearance goes, he's 5'10, thin, not really athletic but not completely out of shape. Pale, blue eyed, and born with white hair due to what we in the real world would call a genetic anomaly, nothing special about it, keeps it about neck length and styled so its sort of combed back and all. Charisma comes mostly from his personality, he's not a particularly attractive or ugly guy, maybe slightly above average, but despite his being a warlock he tends to be fairly nice and polite. He's also CG, if you need. But yeah, I'm not asking for a full plot or anything, just some ideas for me to write one up. DM tells me she'll be using the PC's stories, personalities, and their roleplay styles to mold the world as we go to be enjoyable, so yeh. |
| LosGunD03-21-07, 09:46 PM | I've always loved my warlock idea that I never used. A young man grows up in a remote village and lives a wonderful life, is married and has kids. One day, however, orcs or something similar attacks his village. He's about to be killed by an orc when he is saved by an otherworldly being. The otherworldly being offers assistance in killing the intruders for a small price. The young man accepts without thinking twice because he fears for his family and immediately is given amazing powers (a la the warlock) and he slaughters all the orc invaders. When he realizes his victory he returns to the otherworldly being who says nothing but, "Now pay in the blood of your family and friends." The warlock proceeds to be driven to kill his entire family and the entire village he grew up with. When the deed is done, he left to watch what he now knows is a devil laugh terribly at him. His entire life is now dedicated to revenge against all who serve this devil and one day the devil who caused all this in the first place. The devil leaves him alive meerly because he now has to live with the knowledge that he killed everyone he ever loved. I've never used it, so feel free. Just an idea. |
| Terjon of the Blue Rose03-23-07, 03:56 AM | I am playing an aasimar warlock and playing up the details of his two opposed blood-lines. You may however be able to use a quirk I put on my character. In order to obtain the warlock powers his ancestor agreed to a deal with a demon. The deal states that if ever these powers are used to promote the cause of good that the character undergoes an irreversable curse. If he is of good alignment when a child is born those powers will immediately pass on to the child.... and he himself will die horrifically as his soul is torn from his living body and delivered to hell. The powers pass on with death to the eldest child (or newborn if the curse is invoked) but each gains these powers with full knowledge that if he goes good he will pay. As a result my character starts off as very self-serving and mercenary and it will take some work before he even starts looking for a way to avoid the curse. |
