Warlock Shifter Need Help [Archive] - Wizards Community

06-08-05, 03:44 PM I'm making a Warlock Shifter, and I want to keep a alignment of Chaotic Good and I don't want to have much to do with Religion. I was thinking it would be easiest to have my character gain his powers from a Fey, as complete arcane mentioned fey often gave warlocks thier gifts, but I couldn't think of a reason a fey, or for that matter any thing other than a devil/demon, would bestow magical powers on my character. So, if you can help me brainstorm a backgroud that includes a member of my character's family that was a lycanthrope (Its a shifter), and how he got his warlock abilities (when, who gave it to him, and why the gave it to him).

06-08-05, 04:31 PM Write in a unicorn somewhere, it touches you with its horn and you feel strong primal magic flow through your body... BAM! You're a warlock...

Also where does the Shifter race come from? Does it have an LA? And does it have something like polymorph at will?

06-08-05, 05:09 PM Shifter is from Ebberon, it has no LA, it is a race that has lycanthrope blood that was passed down from it family and can 'shift'. The shift give you certain bonuses that you choose from.

06-09-05, 11:48 AM Do you absolutely need to have a lycanthrope in your direct familly, or could it be some vague ancestor? Which shifter variety do you want to be?

I don't know shifters too much, but I think they are usually hunters; when you were young, you might have gotten lost, and met an unicorn. Being a child, you were not really threatening to her, so she helped you. She remarked you were really brave, so she gave you some "powers."

I feel the powers bulge beneath my frail body, giving me the strength needed to do what I must, for the sake of all that is good in this world. I must even if it means leaving behind all that I cared for and may never return to. Farewell my friends and family, now I must go,'

What do you think about that? This even allows for your family to be alive, so to break the monotone 'orphan' trend that adventurers seem to have. It also lets you wonder what he holds more important than his family.

06-19-05, 12:42 PM Wait a minute, are you playing one of the lycanthropic shifters, or the doppelganger descended disguing changelings? Becasue you character sheet says changeling and has all the changeling abilites written down.
