| Pillow_Pants01-30-08, 06:02 PM | After having a character booted from the campaign because of excessive munchkinosity (almost accidental, and no great loss to myself, as his backstory was poor, and thus he was boring to play). I am working on a new character. So far I have this- He is a water halfling who grew to maturity in the monster infested partially submerged catacombs underneath the BBEG's (not an enemy in this campaign, but our god and greatest ally, its a little strange) home. Growing up without anyone to teach him about his inate magical abilities has made them more chaotic than normal, while the constant danger has heightened his ability to react before the fact, hence his Wild Mage/Fatespinner status. He is Chaotic Neutral, with little understanding of social mores, but far from unlearned, because of the wealth of magical and mundane texts present in his subterranean home. Recent events have released him, and he has become one of the BBEG's most devout disciples, treating him as a god from above. However, I have trouble knowing exactly how I would play him, and I want to flesh out the backstory further. |

That being said I see two extremes that the character you describe could fall into. The first is the nervous, twitchy sort. Always expecting something to jump out of the shadows because in his experience something usually does. He barely survives each experience by sheer force of will. He doesn't believe in luck but in preperation. The other extreme is the dead opposite. Laid back and certain that "It'll all be good in the end" He relies on his luck and posseses an absolute certainty in his own success despite any odds against it. Nothing bad has ever really happened to him because in his experience he can always just slide away in the nick of time. |
