Turquin is a human fighter. He is loyal to his friends unless he is wronged, and vicious when he meets an enemy, and particularly enjoys inflicting pain upon them.

As far as personality, he is usually calm and benign, but occasionally he will lose his temper and go into a sort of rage.

He is distrustful of, and takes extra pleasure in killing those enemies of his that happen to be, sorcerers and wizards, though he can't deny that magic can often be extremely useful. If ever given the opportunity, he would wipe all magic from the face of the multiverse.

He trains daily to further his skill with the blade, and enjoys testing it against other warriors.

He lives by two mottoes: "The strong live, and the weak die." and "I'll do it if I feel like it." He relies solely upon himself.

I figure he's most likely Lawful Evil, bordering somewhat on True Neutral.

True Neutral. Definitely...

He just has some very strong opinions but does have that "indecisiveness" that Neutral characters have.

The thing about him that made me consider Evil alignment instead of Neutral is that he enjoys killing. Like, a little bit too much. He enjoys nothing more than seeing the head of his enemy pop off and roll a dozen yards.

Despite that whole 'benign' remark, the rest of it just screams 'neutral evil' at me. He seems like a competetive, self-absorbed malcontent who desires little contact with others.

True...maybe if you limited his "love of killing" to evil wizards and sorcerers or magic users who are too arrogant...then he would be straight Neutral.

Otherwise, I am really leaning towards Neutral Evil after seeing the "loves to kill" factor.

He isn't really competitive. Like a lot of people, he enjoys competition just for the sake of competition once in a while, but most of the time he's too focused on his training to take every challenge of whichever bumpkin happens by. Although, if he feels like it, he'll teach the bumpkin a lesson as to why you don't mess with strangers.

He doesn't kill indescriminately. He only kills those who deserve it (that is, those who are trying to kill him), or his enemies. Even when he loses his temper (which isn't often, but it happens more frequently than it does for most people) he strikes at the person or thing that made him angry and leaves the rest alone (unless of course they stand in his way). When he does kill, he takes more pleasure in it than any Good-aligned character should, and probably more than most Neutral characters.

As far as being antisocial, he actually quite enjoys the company of others. After all, training is often boring and repetitive. And having an ally at your side when crunch time comes can mean the difference between life and death.

He doesn't much care about arrogance. He admits that magic users can grow extremely powerful and can do things that are impossible without magic.

His particular enjoyment of killing magic users stems from an incedent in his past. Specifically, his great-grandfather and mentor (who was, incedentally, a dwarf) was killed by a wizard.

We need More Information.

It depends on how he decides who "deserves" to die and who his "enemies" are.

Also his two mottoes can be interpreted in different ways

"The strong live, and the weak die"

Is this an expression of contempt for the weak, or a regretful judgement of a cruel universe?

and "I'll do it if I feel like it."

What does he feel like doing? Helping old ladies across the street or robbing them?

But id say his blanket condemnation of magic-users is an Evil trait.

When explained like that, Tentacles, I still have to think Evil tendancies. It's my opinion that no good creature should relish in the death of another living being any moreso than to be relieved that his task has come to an end, or that a menace has passed. Also, I'd think that most neutral characters would have little opinion of killing, unless they had a strong hatred for them. Your character fits that neutral description, but those mottos really point towards at least slight evil tendancies - unless he just *****es about people not being able to stand up for themselves while begrudgingly helping them. Then he'd be a decent guy, but a real arse most of the time.

All being said, he reminds me of a character I used to DM for. The character was more or less completely morally ambiguous. He'd give everyone crap who didn't give him exactly what he wanted, and was always trying to pick a fight, and he was CN. Now in d20m, his player has the same kind of character. There's no pleasing him. An NPC gets his back, he's pissy cos the NPC 'saved' him. He as to rescue an NPC, so he completely treats said NPC like crap. If the d20m book didn't cost so damn much, i'd evilly massage his brains with it! :headexplo

um... carry on. :twitch:

"Those who deserve to die" are basically anyone who tries to prevent him from reaching his goals.

He considers anyone who has wronged him in the past and still lives to be an enemy. He doesn't kill over minor slights, like having his foot stepped on or a pitcher of mead being knocked into his lap. But a friend who betrays him and anyone who attacks him without reason will immediately and irrevocably become an enemy.

Also his two mottoes can be interpreted in different ways

"The strong live, and the weak die"

It's more like a "This is the way it is, and nobody short of the gods themselves can change it" statement. Sort of like "the sun is bright" and "water is wet".

and "I'll do it if I feel like it."

What does he feel like doing? Helping old ladies across the street or robbing them?

But id say his blanket condemnation of magic-users is an Evil trait.

That basically means that he'll keep his promises if it suits him (and usually it does, because he doesn't make promises lightly).

And yes, he IS supposed to be Evil. Not all magic users are immediately his enemies. In fact, he used to be friends with a wizard until they parted ways. But it takes less form a magic user to become his enemy than it does from anybody else. He is immediately distrustful of magic users until they prove themselves trustworthy.

I would say either CN or NE, depending on his environment. If he grew up in some well organized city, his taste for killing make him NE. If he grew up in a huge, barbaric land, where there is no law to protect you, then he is CN. Remember that Ysgard, where battle is a day-to-day basis and where the stronger live and enjoy, is CN(CG).

"Those who deserve to die" are basically anyone who tries to prevent him from reaching his goals."

Once again, it depends what are his goals. Does he just wants to leave a life of pelt traders, or does he wants to rule the world?

The mottos suggest chaotic, although the rest of the character doesn't suggest it. As for good/evil, I'd put him as evil, but only just.

Non-good does not equate evil. Kill off threatening foes isn't an evil act, though inflicting pain on helpless enemy can be.

Neutral characters CAN perform evil acts, so you know.
He acts upon his own whims, but neither inherently destructive nor malign.

I say Chaotic Neutral.
