| bradikus08-20-04, 03:14 PM | We are starting a new campaign, which will apparently be located in the underdark. I am looking for ideas that would give me a fun character to role play. Our adventures tend to get stuck in the hack and slash mode a lot so I want to have a charater that lifts us up out of that, at least a little. |
| Morka08-20-04, 08:10 PM | At what level are you starting? Is it an evil campaign? Is there any race restriction? If you want to be less hack'n slash, perhaps could you play a bard or a rogue. |
| bradikus08-21-04, 12:51 AM | We are starting at 4th level and the races are limited to MM1&2 and Forgotten Realms. The party is looking to be good/neutral. So far there is is a drow fighter, doppleganger rogue and drow mage/cleric. |
| Morka08-23-04, 08:10 PM | What about a Deep Ismakar (Ismakeri?) wizard/loremaster? I'm not sure about the source, there is one in the Character Concept compilation. Or a kobold sorcerer, eventually becoming a Dragon Disciple... Svirfneblin alchemist? A tiefling could be cool too. |
| Lackadaisical08-24-04, 03:11 AM | A Svirfneblin Druid. Grab an Ironwood lance, a wolf animal companion, and charge around the underdark stabbing things. As you progress in levels take a Ring of Animal Friendship, an animal companion strengthening feat or two, and the obligatory charge feats to round out your druid. Use druidic spells to enhance your mount and other animal companions, summon some elementals, and charge with your personal army. |
| bradikus08-24-04, 09:36 AM | The Druid sounds like it could be fun. I can't remember ever playing a Druid before. I might even be a Svirfneblin. I am starting to imagine the fun. |
| Hero of Sshamath08-24-04, 10:04 AM | I would start out as a Duegar Rogue,...You get immunity to paralysis, phantasms, and alchemistral/magical poisons, invisiblity 1/day, and some other neat stuff I don't care to type up for you....Look in the Underdark book...page 11...Although they are generally evil....so are drow, so I'm sure you could think of an "in game" reason why they have shifted from that to a more neutral or good alignment... Jack's Smirking Revenge says :smirk:.o0( But, if your DM will let you get away with playing LE...Not Stupid Evil,...but Evil with a strict code of conduct...Then duergar make AWESOME assassins...and can be one by level 3 or 4) |
