Im trying to make a character to fit my personality, he is a Half-elf named Xavben. Reading the discription in the PHB I fit the personilty of a Half-elf raised by humans standards. PG: 18

What do you guys think his class should be? (I have not rolled anything for him)

please include deity too

Personality test: Chaotic neutral

What do you want him to be able to accomplish? And how do you want to go about doing it? We haven't met you, so we don't know what your personality is like. We might need a bit more information before we start giving you advice.

shouldve seen that coming okay, hmm. I want to be most effective in dealing a nice amount of damage yet without taking much in the process. (in FPS Im always a sniper)

I like to smoke 5+ ciggerettes a day (Salem Lights)

I been known to be even tempered and patient with people which makes me get along with people who are usually hard to be around.

Even though Im a good people person, I do not have that many that I can call a friend. (lack of trust I suppose)

I try to ignore those who demand attention, and give attention to those who are quiet and shy.

I have a Military family background, and tried to keep the tradition going by joing the army but was sent back because asthma

I prefer exotic pets over domestic pets (Hawk vs. kitten i would choose hawk)

and I have a evil side like all of us, hince I would buy the kitten too and feed it to the hawk well maybe not that evil but around there.

I cannot sing to save my own life.

^ thats what Im giving you about my personality now what I want to accomplish

I want some healing magic but thats all I really want under magic

I want to be able to be more strategic than run up to the enemy and start slashing and gashing its chest open. but if I have to I will do so.

If I have a range weapon I want to be able to make my own amunition out of the enemies I conquer

I aslo want to be able to sneak around in dungeons

also anything that would really go well with my half-Elf even though its says any class some classes do better than others.

Ranger, although, depending on the severity of the DM, a dip into Paladin would help with the smoking, since Divine Helath would also help with the Cancer Sticks.

Dragon Shaman.... is a decent front line fighter, has healing abilities, decent force of personality which is backed up by their draconic aura's

Plus they get breath weapons, so there is your ranged attacks covered :P

Its in PHBII, pretty wicked class :P

Peace

I'd say you are a Rogue/Fighter with max ranks in UMD.

You want Ranged Combat that can deal loads of damage, hence Rogue. You need feats to supplement that style, hence fighter. You want Healing and some magical abilities (probably buffs and ranged damage spells) so UMD is necessary.

As for God, you would probably choose Hextor, if we're sticking with Core Gods. He's militeristic, has an evil side and generally supports your outlook. :D

When in doubt make things simple. Go for a single class ranger, with ranged combat specialty. He'll eventually get minor healing abilities, he'll be able to do damage, without taking much in return, minimizing the need for healing, his animal companion will eventually allow you to get your pet hawk.
I suppose you could combine craft checks with knowledge(dungeoneering) checks to make arrows out of the bones of slain enemies, which would be even more badass in RP if he did it with only the bones of his favored enemy.

Scout would also be a great choice, since it would impart the military tradition, human armies need scouts, but now he's able to get into the wild and do his own thing. The scout's incredible defensive abilities coupled with the ranged focus would further increase his lack of dependancy on healing magic. Plus he would retain the stealth abilites and what not of the ranger.

In melee combat the ranged capabilities of both classes would enable you to open up with daggers as you closed to melee, furthering your ability to damage your opponents quickly without getting hit in return.
Perhaps throw in one or two levels of rogue early on, maybe even first, to give you more and higher ranks in your skills.

Not sure what the smoking has to do with anything, it's not really going to adversely affect your character, this isn't real life.

But there ya go.

Personally, I prefer the Bard and Rogue classes. They allow your sneakiness, ranged damage, tactics( with d6 for health its a bit hard to hack and slash in my opinion.) but don't force you to constantly hide in the background. Any DM with half a will to have fun will incorporate traps and the like to make your character useful, so that is never a problem. They also fit your alignment well, chaotic neutral, that is.
But, that is just my opninion and having read the others, ranger could work very well with what you want. the making armor or weapons outta your enemies is pretty sweet too. Good luck with it.

oh god... just a random thought. A suit of armor constructed from the bones and skins of your slain favored enemies which grants you an aura of fear which affects only those creatures... =) and possibly a scimitar or saber crafted from the rib bones of a favored enemy, treated with alchemicic silver, and reinforced by adamantine... heh... yummy.

I'd go with scout or ranger like the others suggested. Try looking up deepwood sniper if yer in 3.0 or order of the bow initiate. A half elf can even qualify for arcane archer though it is more for the raised by elves sort.
