| Lo77o09-29-06, 09:37 AM | Ok, iv been working on a 6th level charecter for a while now, and finaly worked out all the classes/templates/spells/powers and so on, and as it is, its accepted by my GM. There is a few sidderent templetes mixed in here and ill do my best to explain it. The thing is... im ok at making charecters, in the sense that they are numerical playable, but the whole backstory, and charecter motivation is a big stumbling block for me, and as such most of my charecters in the past has been less fun. Now a few months back i came to this board get some help fleshing out a charecter and i was very happy with the feedback i got back then, and im hoping for the same now. Well, i should post what iv got so far, and what iv got in mind for the leves ahead. --------- Name: Haruun Craven Race: Lesser Tiefling Corrupted Half Fiend (Basicly a mortal devil) Classes: Domain Wizard (Transmutation)1 / Telepath 3 / Cerebremancer 2 Feats: 1st Scribe Scroll 1st Practised Spellcaster (arcane) 1st Precocios Apprentice (Command Undead) 3rd Speed of Thought 6th Improved Initiative Using a 35 point buy i end up with the following stats after racial mods: STR: 16 DEX: 12 CON: 24 INT: 24 WIS: 14 CHA: 6 Psionic Powers: 1st: (5) ; Mindlink, Charm, Deceleration, Force Screen, Inertial Armor 2nd: (4) ; Ego Whip, Share Pain, Aversion, Id Insinuation 3rd: (4) ; Touchsight, Telekentic Thrust Spells Known: 1st: (8) ; Expeditious Retreat, Mount, Magic Missile, Ray of Enfeeblement, Disguise Self, Color Spray, Magic Aura, Grease 2nd: (4) ; Levitate, Command Undead, Rope Trick, Ghoul Touch Allso my race/templates gives me the following special qualities; Special: Type: Outisder Speed: 30 ft; 30 ft fly (average maneuverability) Damage: Bite (1d6) Claw (1d4) Smite Good (Su): Once per day Haruun can make a normal melee attack to deal extra damage equal to his HD (maximum of +20) against a good foe. Spell-Like Abilities: Haruun has spell-like abilities depending on his Hit Dice, as indicated on the table below. The abilities are cumulative. Unless otherwise noted, an ability is usable once per day. Caster level equals Haruun’s HD, and the save DC is Charisma-based. HD Abilities 1–2 Darkness 3/day 3–4 Desecrate 5–6 Unholy blight 7–8 Poison 3/day 9–10 Contagion 11–12 Blasphemy 13–14 Unholy aura 3/day, unhallow 15–16 Horrid wilting 17–18 Summon monster IX (fiends only) 19–20 Destruction • Darkvision out to 60 feet. • Immunity to poison and acid. • Resistance to cold 10, electricity 10, and fire 10. • Damage reduction: 5/magic (if HD 11 or less) or 10/magic (if HD 12 or more). • Haruun’s natural weapons are treated as magic weapons for the purpose of overcoming damage reduction. • Spell resistance equal to Haruun’s HD + 10 (maximum 35). Racial Skills: Haruun have a +2 racial bonus on Bluff and Hide checks. Disruptive Attack: +1/2HD damage on attacks (vile damage) Enhanced Power: +4 DC on special attacks. Fast Healing: ½ HD Darkness (Sp): Haruun can use darkness once per day (caster level equal to HD). Automatic Languages: Common, Infernal. Bonus Languages: Draconic, Dwarven, Elven, Gnome, Goblin, Halfling, Orc. Natural Armor Bonus: +5 -------------- Now this is WHAT i am, now i just need to figure out WHO i am. My initial thought when i started this charecter was that i would love to play a Devil, with alot of innate abilities i could use to "mess" with people and their minds. (hence the psion/telepath levels), but i allso wanted a spellcaster, someone who used his infernal knowledge to dig deep into ancient arcane lore and unearth powerfull spells. So that basicly set me up for cerebremancer since its a PrC that mixes both arcane and psionic's. Now down the line i expect that ill take leadership at around lvl 12 so i could get myself a Nightmare as a cohort/mount and a bunch of low level followers that i could make into some kind of cult for one of the arch-devils in BoVD. Allso next level i expect to take a 1 level dip into Mindbender for the 100 ft telepathy and then back to cerebremancer. ------------- Any suggestions or even full flegded backstories would be imensly wellcome.. Ohh and the books iv got access to is in my sig. |
| Orchomenos09-29-06, 11:13 AM | Name: Haruun Craven Race: Lesser Tiefling Corrupted Half Fiend (Basicly a mortal devil) Classes: Domain Wizard (Transmutation)1 / Telepath 3 / Cerebremancer 2 First question: How is it that a Lesser Tiefling has 3 Feats at 1st level? Second question: I thought you had to be able to cast 2nd level arcane spells to be a Cerebremancer? Now, you're: 1) Lesser Tiefling: That means one of your ancestors has some Demonic or Devilish blood. Lesser suggests it's very diluted. 2) Corrupted: Did you stay too long in a bad place? Did you have too many evil spells casted on you? 3) Half Fiend: Usually, that means one of your parents is a Fiend. The problem is how could you be only a Lesser Tiefling if one of your parents is a true Fiend? Optionally, it could mean you merged with some part of the Lower Plane. The template is inherited, but in your case it would make sense to acquire it. (As per the RAW, this build is correct, I'm just talking about backstory issues.) Perhaps your mother was part of some Cult bent to summon devils. She mated with one of them, became pregnant. She died upon your birth, but she was happy to sacrifice her life to the Cult. You were raised by some cultists. You were a cunning and cruel child, enjoying inflicting pain on small animals and other children. But you were naturally disciplined, respecting the hierarchy of the cult; probably due to your Devil blood... You are strong, you are monstrously intelligent and resilient, but you have a really low opinion of yourself. Your high intelligence suggest you can craft incredibly cunning plans, you can learn anything, and you remember everything. Your high constitution (and Natural Armor, Resistances, and Damage Reduction) suggest a blow from a sword make you laugh. Your low charisma suggest you don't consider yourself very powerful; you could be jealous of either mortals' beauty, or fiends' power, or both. I hope this helps. You could perhaps craft a few NPCs in and/or outside the Cult. One who taught you magic, one who taught you psionic and told you you should betray your first teacher, etc. |
| Need_A_Life09-29-06, 02:00 PM | Pick up Fiendish Codex I, if you can. As it says under the character type of manipulator (quoting loosely from memory, so to avoid OGL violations): Appear marginally competent, no one wants an ally who can't defend themselves but try to stay in the background and try to look like a noncombatant; you're not a threat, you just want to be let alone. If possible, keep both sides guessing about where your loyalties lie and somehow end up on the winning side. If seriously threatened, pull back the cloak a bit and show a little of your true power. But, as I have learned, the more templated and multiclassed a creature is, the harder it is to justify. Perhaps your mother was part of some Cult bent to summon devils. She mated with one of them, became pregnant. She died upon your birth, but she was happy to sacrifice her life to the Cult. This part should be one where the reader feels the blood splatter on their faces as the infernal creature breaks out of its mothers belly, extinguishing her life in an instant. You were raised by some cultists. You were a cunning and cruel child, enjoying inflicting pain on small animals and other children. But you were naturally disciplined, respecting the hierarchy of the cult; probably due to your Devil blood... Perhaps make it a bit less irredeemable, you have to play the character after all. A moment where you simply watch a person choke to death without feeling anything should imprint the impression in people's minds. Your high intelligence suggest you can craft incredibly cunning plans, you can learn anything, and you remember everything. Memory is more based on wisdom IMO, but "I like". Your high constitution (and Natural Armor, Resistances, and Damage Reduction) suggest a blow from a sword make you laugh. Indeed, this is a part that's always fun to play up. Your low charisma suggest you don't consider yourself very powerful; you could be jealous of either mortals' beauty, or fiends' power, or both. Don't try to be a leader; you aren't. You aren't the silvertongued trickster, the charismatic leader or the likable cohort. But you have power, and no one can deny that. Cut to the core of things, you know the manipulations of others, but find the best way to reveal them to openly express your opinion. ("Hand it over or I shall rend you apart.") |
| Lo77o09-29-06, 05:04 PM | Thanks.. some nice suggestions here. Orchomenos the way i see it is like this: 1) Lesser Tiefling: I long way back in my bloodline is an ancient evil, most likely a lesser fiend or devil. Something like an imp since it has polymorph as a spell like ability. 2) Corrupted: This would be great if used as part of my birth. The ritualistic sacrifice of my mother as i was born, and my soul giftet to a dark and powerfull devil. 3) Half Fiend: And yes, this is normaly inherited, but it could allso be a "gift" from this dark entity that my soul was giftet to by the cultists. Now i just wonder how im going to "justify" working with the rest of the group im playing with. None of them is "paladin" good, but i do suspect that some are N.G or C.G maby. However most would be CN;N;LN. Allso, i would love to work in some kind of hatred towords some kind of evil, something that i could hunt with the rest of the group and still be true to my evil nature. Maby demons ? Hell if i took one of the arch-devils in the BoVD as my patron i could even plot against cultists of other devils aswell. |
| Lo77o09-29-06, 05:22 PM | Allso, iv got a picture that i think realy "captures" what im going for. http://www.fantasygallery.net/nemo/kargalak.jpg |
| Stormbrand10-02-06, 12:16 AM | Ever hear of the Blood War. Demons and Devils HATE each other. Not based on ideology or belief or reason or what they see in the other, but they just have an inherent instinct to rip the guts from their blood enemy. Anyway, you will need something about the rest of the group before you can justify working with them. What you will also need is GOALS. Maybe just power? Then think up plans for a power base. Maybe you will 'tolerate' the good characters for the chance to sway the others. |
| Roivas10-02-06, 01:54 AM | Your character should be a more tragic figure to be more playable. His coruption, the fiendish template, the tieflingness can all be explained as a dark force corrupting you within the womb. Something like this, The midwife had given up on the young woman after her being in labor for over two days, both her and the child were going to die. As [insert your mother's name here] strained exhausted from the hours of intense pain a form began to appear in her eyes, it became clearer as the hours past. This creature appeared to be nearly three times her height with massive wings, cruel sharp fangs dripping foul ichor, and pits of corrupt hate buring in it's eyes. After standing over her for two days it at last chose to speak, "Shall I end your torment?" [mother]: What are you? Fiend: I am the one who can save you from your pain, and save the life of your child as well, without my intervention you both will die by sunup. [mother]: Yes, I wish to end this.... but save my child. Fiend: It shall be done. The fiend uses it's wish ability to change you into the monster you are, which gives you enough strength to burst from your mother's womb. The midwife tries to flee, but even as an infant your mind was inhumanly sharp, she never made it to the door. The fiend then leaves awaiting to hear of the mayhem you create. Somehow your character survives childhood using his natural abilities to find food. The fiend granted you with knowledge at birth so as to have you live, but taught you nothing of how to interact with others. This led your charcter to a life as a tormented outcast wandering alone with only his own unpleasant thoughts as company. In time even greater powers were granted to you by an unknown force, with a thought you could read the minds of others, and destroy them from the inside with a thought. This leads you to have a weak view of other creatures, as those of lesser intellect are nothing more than toys to relieve the pain you experiance everyday. You wander the world alone seeking out creature that prove resistant to your complete domination, and in that you fullfill your destasty as the fiend that spawnned you watches from hell taking each soul you slay for himself to expand his power there. |
| Dagoriath10-02-06, 12:25 PM | Help me guys, i want to find a way to convince my DM to let me make a character with devil blood, wlile he says that it is not fair. Can you suggest me a character with some statistics that he cannot deny. What is more i want you to tell me what class fits more to a devil-human character.I am new player and i don't know much, that's why i need your help that much.Pleaseeeeee...:weep: |
| Lo77o10-02-06, 03:55 PM | Im sorry, i dont see a way around your DM.. if he flat out tells you your not allowed to play a charecter with devil blood in him, it will not be easy to "trick" him, and if you manage to do it, he might just kill your charecter off. |
| Dagoriath10-04-06, 04:13 AM | So my effort is dead??? |
