what would be a good explanation for my Succubus Paladin becoming good.

I can't think of a good way for a Demon to be come redeemed like that.

Any help please.

An alignment changing magical item. If it changes from one extreme to another you'd be lawful good.

Not the most complicated or fresh idea, but it's simple and doesn't need too much explination on why your character is one out of hundreds of thousands of sucubuses to be completely and radically different. You could have it that for some reason or another your character as a young baby was left in the material plane and happened to be left their, the local village church found you and was ready to end your evil life except that a paladin that was in the area had them spare your life since you hadn't been totally consumed by evil and prehaps efforts could be made to send you to the right path of good.

So the paladin took you to his order (probably a LG or a NG order) to have you watch and trained in the ways of good and should you happen to end up being close to the dark side, to put you down so you wouldn't cause harm to the innocents. So you stayed at the church for years until you became an adult and earned the trust, if not the tolerence of the people around you.

And now you've embarked to do the LG stuff. You don't hide your apperence (since thats not the paladin thing to do) but the fact that your a demon and a paladin gives people you meet mix feelings.

Since she is a demon, you've a lot of time to work with in the way of backstory happenings. Are you familar at all with the BoED? There's a high level spell that traps an evil creature, purifies it, and makes it good with some cool powers thrown in. You can give the story that she was purified, and let your DM feel he/she is getting a break when you don't ask for those extra powers as well. The reasoning would vary with the cleric who cast the spell, who would probably be a cleric of the god your character worships (if she has one, which I always think is a good idea, especially for a characterization reference point). Do you have one in mind?
