| Need_A_Life09-12-06, 03:40 AM | So as my current backup character is basically out the window as our GM has said he'll bump us down 15-20 levels next time there's a TPK, I have decided to prepare. In a background I am currently writing, I decided to start my character in a city known as the Gray Metropolis. My idea was that my character was the innocent victim of a former character of mine (who has since retired), whose family was slain and turned into undead shadows by my character while she was enjoying a night out. Now, I've written that part; it came easy as I already knew exactly what had happened, but since I want my character to reach above a homeless beggar, I need a plot twist. Thus far she has just been told that a "Tibbit necromancer" has killed her family and that her home has been claimed by the local government (as the owners are now dead) and she's left on her own. I am thinking of a quest for vegeance against my former character, but I also wanted to work in being hired for a cult by some low-rank cultist and being apprenticed (possibly to gain more powers against her 'arch enemy'?) by him. You would be unlikely to think of her as a combatant, though she is deadly in combat, but her weapon of choice is a "poison ring" (: dealing 1p of damage plus poison). She uses sneak attacks and supernatural speed to defeat much stronger opponents, hoping to appear a non-combatant until she is ready to move in for the kill. Thoughts? Ideas? |

In fact, your true father is one of the Thieves Guild lieutenant. You do not know exactly who, and you have no proof of that, but you know that. So the word was given to give you jobs that could have been given to any homeless children: message delivery, guard patrols watching, etc. Eventually, you grew up in said guild, etc. Option 2) You were hired as a servant by the bureaucrat who bought your house. After years of working 15 hours a day to live in the house that should have been yours, you decided it was enough. You decided to take vengeance on everyone who did it to you, beginning with the fat and dirty bureaucrat. That job was easy. Now, the hard part is to take vengeance on the one who killed your parents... |

If you're poor, no one cares about you. When no one cares about you, you aren't likely to last the week. Your father wasn't your real father. Actually, while I'd have to modify it, seeing as how my character is not exactly a thief, it could be a nice introduction to a cult. ("Oh, and my dad happens to outrank both me and my boss. Unfortunately, he won't admit to being my dad."). You were hired as a servant by the bureaucrat who bought your house. You decided to take vengeance on everyone who did it to you, beginning with the fat and dirty bureaucrat. That job was easy. Now, the hard part is to take vengeance on the one who killed your parents... With this one, I'd probably make her have been a servant at the Citadel of Darkness (don't laugh; I didn't come up with the name, the DM did. I guess no one told him about clichés, eh?) for a few years, before getting contacted my a cult, probably a schism within the worship of the Dark Lord and then deciding to use this new connection as a way out of the city? Any more ideas? |
