(The names corny I know... but oh well  )

Elona sighs and continues to look away speaking into Tarran's mind, "I was stunned because of what my father told me about you, he mentioned something and I couldn't believe it was.. well.. you! My father was wounded a long time ago Tarran, not physically but mentally. My mother was killed in a war against the vampires who sought to take over our palace, as you know, the palace never has sunlight hit it due to where its located."

Elona lets out a soft sigh and continues to watch the land roll past them.
Lord Tarran

02-05-04, 08:01 PM
I was thinking about the lack of sunlight in Wakenia. During my travels I met a mage who could create reall sunlight. If I can find her, I;m sending her to Wakenia. Also, what is wrong with your father's mind? What has happened since I last saw him.

He says to Elona in thought.
Dai'Morra Clayrentha

02-05-04, 08:06 PM
She continues to mindspeak with Tarran, "I was getting to that... Well, the sudden loss of my mother really upset him. He refuses to leave the palace for business runs or travels, and ocassionally speaks like she is still there. Please Tarran... its horrible, I don't want to speak of it anymore."

Elona sighs and then slides out of the wagon and rolls on the ground and then starts walking behind it, not having any problems keeping up. Her eyes now looking downward and now her wings are spread out behind her. They are white and feathery and have a glow to them.

Seth rides quietly, contemplating a great many things, and coming first to the conclusion that Tarran may well exist in an entirely different realm of power than himself, with more versatility, and considerably more physical power, he is likely Seth's better, and that is cause for a readjustment in perception. Until he can observe Xavim's innate powers, he cannot be accurately placed in a spectrum of power. However, if this is something Elona could not handle alone, and with beings of this power with her, it is highly likely that this adventure may actually present them a challenge far beyond simple navigation...
JasperDm

02-05-04, 08:14 PM
Seth looks back, and actually, for the first time since you have met him...-blinks-.

"Wings? Those are more than a vestigial aasimaric trait...you are a near second-generation celestial, aren't you, Elona...everyone around me seems to be more directly connected to their powers than first assumed, it may even prove that a necromancer who has mastered two arts to the 9th Circle might be the weak one among us..."
Dai'Morra Clayrentha

02-05-04, 08:22 PM
Elona walks up to the wagon close enough to speak to Seth without yelling, "Yes, did you not know I was indeed part Archon angel?"
Lord Tarran

02-05-04, 08:24 PM
Tarran reclines his head, sad to here that prince he had known had become a confused king. One of these days, he says to himself, I have to get over to the palace and stop this. He glances at Seth, seeing the mortif become visual, and for the first time, smelling disturbed.

My friend, don't worry about supposted weakness. Your abilities, the mastery of both divine and arcane magic is amazing. You call yourself a necromancer, but you have delved into the vivomancy powers as well. Your powers surpass mine in the spellcasting field, why do you doubt yourself?
JasperDm

02-05-04, 08:33 PM
"It is not that I doubt myself, Tarran, it is more of a curiosity. It is rare I encounter others who parallel a single one of my arts, much less does so as well as mastering physical combat. It appears that all four of us border on the legendary, if not surpassing it, and that four of such power should gather in one place is, if you will pardon the superstitiousness, an ill omen on this journey. The strong are often confronted with the strong. Bards do not tell tales of when the archlich met the housecat, they sing of when the archlich meets the tarrasque."
Lord Tarran

02-05-04, 08:36 PM
The werewolf laughs heartily

Remind me to introduce you to a bard I know named Amaliaa one of these days. She would say the opposite.

He glances at Xavim, who continues to brood.
Dai'Morra Clayrentha

02-05-04, 08:38 PM
Elona falls behind the wagon a bit as she realizes the more important conversation between Tarran and Seth surpass her own talk with Seth.

"'Elona, your mother has died today, I hated to have to tell you that.' Father told me that the day she died, it was hard for him too as he had to raise me alone. At least I turned out well right? Should I speak to Tarran of my brother? Would he know of him.. no, I doubt it.."
Lord Tarran

02-05-04, 08:46 PM
Tarran feels the disturbance in Elona, sending a message back to the back wolf, Rare

Keep her company, my girl. Also, did you just feel that power ripple.

The wolf nods as she moves up next to Elona, responding:

Yes, I felt it. You think its Blair?

Tarran nods, as he smiles. He looks at Seth:

In a moment, a small black wolf will shot out of the plains in front of the wagon, looking all frightening. Don't do anything, just watch, and you will be cheered up.
Dai'Morra Clayrentha

02-05-04, 09:34 PM
Elona looks to the wolf who now walks beside her and she smiles softly.

"What beautiful creatures they are.."
JasperDm

02-05-04, 09:34 PM
Seth looks out ahead of them, hands tight on the reins, and with a casual move that seems to not even be a matter of conscious thought, he removes the simple gloves on his hands, and as the simple brown leather passes his knuckles, his own personal mark is revealed...his left hand is bereft of muscle and skin, and is in fact skeletal from the wrist forward, the bones dry and yellowed. He flexes the hand oddly, the joints popping as if under extreme muscle pressure, and he slips the gloves into the interior of his cloak. Without looking at them, he adjusts the silver ring on the central finger of his undead hand, and grips the reins with his right.
Lord Tarran

02-05-04, 09:52 PM
The werewolf glances at the hand, and then looks forward, not slightly suprised to find that this was the reason for the gloves. Suddenly, a rustling is heard, as the predicted jet black wolf slams out of the brush into Jaerl, the front wolf. The wagon stops, as Tarran whistles, and leaps forward in his faster wolf form. Running as fast as possible, he slammed into the jet blakc wolf. The obviously younger wolf bounces and slides along the ground, like a puppy on a wooden floor. The three wolves continue play fighting in this manner for a few moments, before the dark wolf and Tarran walk back over to the wagon. They come into human forms, both laughing heartily. You are greeted when you look upon the once pup, a girl of no older than 20, with the same piercing blue eyes of Tarran, and the same wavy blond hair. Her skin is lighter, younger, but she walks with the same controlled grace seen in the older Veran. She has a earthen beauty. She leaps into the wagon, sitting and facing Xavim, beginning to bombard him, like the teen she is, with questions about him, and who he was. Tarran climbs up, back next to Seth, with a grin and a twinkle in his eyes. He whistles, and the wagon begins to move again.

That would be my pack-daughter, Blair. Suprising how much she looks like me, considering before her transformation we weren't related. She has the same powers I do, slightly weakened, and she is bound to me in the way a daughter is to a father. I asked her to join us for two reasons. One, I think that all Xavim needs is a female companion. Second, a second femal would be nice to have on the trip, company for Elona. Another Veran is always welcome when expecting trouble, when it comes to me, and my own pack daughter is perfect for it. She's a bit young, and a bit naive, but she has a good heart. Hopefully good enough to crack into Xavim.

He glances backwards, staring Rare down. He nods, a signal to start conversation with the princess. She says, staying in wolf form, but actually speaking

Anything on your mind, my lady. I'm glad to listen, and offer what I can in the way of solace. Don't worry, I won't tell Tarran anything you don't want me to.
Dai'Morra Clayrentha

02-05-04, 09:56 PM
She nods smiling and speaks into the wolf's mind, "My father told me something long ago, but now that I hear that Tarran has a daughter I doubt it will happen. Well, he told me that he wished for me to marry him, and that was years ago, many years ago. I do like him, but I don't know." She shakes her head and keeps walking.
Lord Tarran

02-05-04, 10:07 PM
Rare laughs in that way that dogs laugh.

Pack-daughter, my lady! Tarran isn't married, but merely made Blair into a Veran. We can only spread our gift to one of our choice, once every twenty years, and then only on that twentieth year. Tarran chose Blair to be his successor in the guardianship of Lu, and gave her the Veran power. He loves her as a daughter, and the two are bound together like a daughter and father. Tarran, as far as I'm aware, has never even flirted, not even with the more beautiful of the glade's wolves, or any Veran as far as we know. We keep a close eye on him when he's not among us, for his perchant to like non-Veran and forget his duties, but now that he has you as a charge, he will most likely not have to be so watched. When he guarded Lu, he never made any meaningful, meaning romantic, advances on anything. That is, if you ignore the erinyes he fought a while back. I don't know what he told you his first baatezu was, probably a osyluth knowing him, but it was an erinyes. It actually seduced him, making him believe that it was a paladin as I recall. Before,...um copulation, Tarran stumbled on his paramours dark altar, where he promptly came out from the spell, and slew the devil.

By the way, my lady, I'm Rareni, pack-sister of Tarran. His mother, birth mother mind you, because he's a true born, created me. That's why I'm merely Urver, because his mother was. His father was a Lulyrver, and that's why he's a truver.
Dai'Morra Clayrentha

02-05-04, 10:27 PM
She smiles, "It is a pleasure to make your aquaintence then m'lady. I do like your son, perhaps in love should I say. Though if he has never been interested before then I doubt he will be interested in a woman now. I should clear my mind of that now. My father was so set on me marrying him or someone like him. Well, off of that. It must be nice to still have a mother around, mine died in battle."
Lord Tarran

02-05-04, 10:41 PM
My dear girl, I'm his step sister, not his mother. I too know the feeling of loosing my mother. Tarran and I were on a group hunt with our mother, Lali. The master vampire that Tarran later slew came at us suddenly, and slashed Lali across the ribs. She wasn't strong enough, and her regeneration was not powerful enough. She died in my arms as Tarran fought the vampire. Tarran brought Lali's body back to the glade, her last words to him, don't follow the wrong path. He was 11 when it happened, and he still beats himself up about it. He shuts himself away from love. He's afraid. Don't worry, he'll fall for you eventually, but give him time. Don't try to make it apparent, he'll know. He's pretty good at detecting emotions if you hadn't noticed. He also has the bad, or maybe good, habit of falling in love with his charges. Why do you think he left Lu? He was so attached he wasn't willing to make any mistakes that would costs life in the Town. He was much better for guarding people.
JasperDm

02-05-04, 10:58 PM
Seth calmly slips the gloves back on, coming back to himself, and his self-consciousness overwhelming the old ache of his dead hand. Others' friends were still strangers, and a mortif necromancer must maintain a healthy respect for that fact. He wonders absently if Xavim is behind him tugging on his own cloak, and listens, then falls back into contemplating the plans for his masterwork...he opens Libram quietly and flips to the notes in the back, about combining several spells into one.

Clone, Polymorph Any Object, Animate Object, Permanency, Incarnate Construct, Magic Jar, Limited Wish...the powerful spells seem to have some sort of connection, a kind of synergy, but what the end result might be, one can only guess, though the diagram of a humanoid's brain, spinal cord, and nerve system do not seem to make any sense when attached to a diagram of a chair...

The mortif's mind is his own, as always, but it is clearly something more than most simple spellcasters might envision.
Dai'Morra Clayrentha

02-06-04, 10:46 AM
Elona looks at her, "Please forgive my mistake, I must have gotten your words mixed up. I am sorry to hear of your loss, I know how it feels. I will take your advice and just let things be, which is how I should act anyway. Rareni, that is not all that bothers me though. I do ask that you not speak to the others of this, but I fear that I will not make it to the mountains. I have a feeling deep within me that feels like death, like its fighting to take over my body and soul. If I mention it to them, they will think I am silly and not listen; however, I also think if I do mention it they will give up and stop trying to help. I need their help and if I do pass on before we make it, then this will all be for nothing."

Elona looks to the wagon and those within her eyesight. She lets out a soft sigh and shakes her head,

.oO (..And I will feel bad for dragging them into this..)
JasperDm

02-06-04, 03:10 PM
Seth makes a simple note in the page's border, one of many, and closes the book, and thinks a moment.

"Tarran...a question. Your zooanthropy is contagious, is it not? I had wondered if there are strains of other animal forms with your power, such as the wererats? Ones who can channel their ability into gaining their opponent's talents."
Lord Tarran

02-06-04, 10:26 PM
Rareni looks at Elona with a strange look before saying:

My dear, tell Tarran of this feeling. He will try to sort it out, and find the cause. YOu would be suprised at the depth of his knowledge.

Meanwhile, Tarran turns back to Seth:

Yes, there are strains of wererats with the same powers, called Verrati. They are like us Veran, but wererats instead. Verur are the werebear form. Veref is the cathcall for felines. No other forms have been found as far as I know.
Dai'Morra Clayrentha

02-07-04, 02:00 AM
She nods, "Thank you Rareni, you are a woman of wisdom. I enjoyed our talk very much and it was very uplifting, I feel somewhat better now."

Elona begins to mind speak with Tarran, [i]"Tarran, I need to speak with you, are you and Seth finished with your conversation?"
JasperDm

02-07-04, 02:50 AM
Seth mutters something in Kadati, then looks at Elona, and swaps back to Common.

"I have the information I require for now, go ahead."

As they begin to talk, he begins to speak to Libram in ancient Kadati, and they begin to converse about some subject.

(Kadati is the language of the Necromancer Kings, an ancient forgotten tongue of Toril, and serves as a parallel and opposite to Druidic. Let me know if you happen to speak it.)
Dai'Morra Clayrentha

02-07-04, 02:53 AM
Elona looks to Seth, "Perhaps we should speak first m'lord Seth. Everyone will know soon enough anyway. Would you listen?"
JasperDm

02-07-04, 03:07 AM
"Go ahead, Elona. I listen." With that Seth palms Libram closed, and turns his ebon eyes to her.

(BTW, you might have noticed I posted Seth's stats and origin in the Char thread.)
Dai'Morra Clayrentha

02-07-04, 03:12 AM
Her eyes look downward as she speaks to him, "Seth, I fear that I won't make it by the time we reach the mountains, even with all the healings. I fear this trip may be a waste of all of our time."

She sighs shaking her head and her rainbow coloured hair falls over her face while she continues walking.

{ooc: Yes I did notice ;) }
JasperDm

02-07-04, 03:18 AM
"I sincerely doubt it, Elona, unless you are still suffering from some damage my treatment did not heal...or is the deterioration accelerating? If so, I will step up my treatments, I can potentially bypass my usual methods and use the Lesser Wish, I keep one prepared at all times."

He reaches into the folds of his clothes and pulls forth a gold sphere, and clutches it in his left hand.

"I can actually cast the spell once without suffering soul burn, but it would extinguish this...receptacle. And I would avoid that if I can."
Dai'Morra Clayrentha

02-07-04, 03:23 AM
Elona sighs again, "I do not want or wish for you to do that. I'm not that important, maybe the next heir to the throne but that doesn't matter. My brother is all that..." She stops abruptly realizing she had confided to much in Seth and stops talking.
JasperDm

02-07-04, 03:41 AM
"The conundrum lies in the nature of your curse, Elona. The creator is a curse master, and has insured that without a dedicated healer of at least my power, you will suffer. Only a true 10th circle Master could stop it, and though I can keep it at bay, it would prevent me from doing much else. Which I can do, if you wish. There will be no loss for me, apart from materials. Once a day should keep you hale and hearty, and ready for whatever battles we will face."
Dai'Morra Clayrentha

02-07-04, 03:46 AM
She nods, "If anyone else needed your healing then we would be in a tough situation wouldn't we? I'd hate to do that to you Seth, I really would. I can cast a few healing spells, I can't do many for a major wound."
JasperDm

02-07-04, 03:59 AM
"I am beginning to form a theory, Elona, that I am in fact the sole, non-paragonic being among the four of us. The resilience of such beings renders standard healing magic, short of additional support in mid-combat, useless. I would theorize that short of outright instantaneous death, my powers would merely accelerate already miraculous levels of self-sufficiency. Give me a few hours to design a treatment plan, but I believe I can minimize it to a mere two spells, Greater Dispelling and Heal, by the standard nomenclature. If so, I can do so without seriously impeding my combat ability, or my ability to support the group's more martial members."
Dai'Morra Clayrentha

02-07-04, 04:09 AM
She nods again, "That is most interesting Seth. I have a question for you, completely off the subject, but one I have pondered for many years."

Elona looks to Tarran and wonders if he is listening then turns back to Seth.
JasperDm

02-07-04, 04:14 AM
"Go ahead, I believe our time allows for us to address any issues." Seth looks ahead, and sees they still have plenty of time before they reach the foot of the mountains.
Dai'Morra Clayrentha

02-07-04, 04:18 AM
"Well, you remember Brenan right? He is actually my brother Seth, though he no longer knows it. He has had that memory removed while he was up against a few psions. They took the most precious memory he had... the one that I cherished. We were inseperable many years ago. If you saw one, you'd see the other of us close by. We'd stick up for each other and fight side by side. However, it cannot be anymore. He believes he is now a messenger for the castle, and that we are only good friends." She pauses and looks to Seth, then after a minute decides to speak again. "Is there anything that can be done to restore that memory? It breaks my heart to know he doesn't remember and I'd pay greatly to have it restored."
JasperDm

02-07-04, 04:31 AM
"I can actually give you an answer there. Lesser Wish should most definately present a possible cure, and as we have entered a condition in which it is necessary, I have begun focusing my research into my arcane studies, so as to master the 10th Circle and True Wish as soon as possible. Once I have learned to control that spell, I will not hesitate to use it to assist you, or your brother's mental condition. Furthermore, I have hesitated to mention it thus far, but..." He draws forth a black vellum page, and unfolds it. "...this scroll is my sole copy of True Wish. Once I have mastered the runes hereupon, I will scribe them and cast them. However..." He pauses, as if deciding. "...if I deem it appropriate, I will cast it from the scroll. That, however, is a final option."
Dai'Morra Clayrentha

02-07-04, 04:39 AM
Elona, growing tired of walking, turns herself into the size of a pixie though instead of pixie wings she has her angelic ones. She flies over to Seth and lands on his lap. She sits down and looks up at him, "I don't want to be a burden to you Seth and be your sole patient. That is not my wish nor objective. I do ask that you do your healing on me once a day to keep the curse from damaging me more. Furthermore I would hate to use up all your magic, I would be devastated if I were the cause of it. I do want you to know how appreciative I am of your help, I don't know what I'd do without your help." She offers him a warm smile, "Anyway, I hope you don't mind me resting on your lap. I grew tired of walking so much."
JasperDm

02-07-04, 04:50 AM
"It is of no concern, I have no reason to protest."

He casts his eyes towards the distant mountains.

"I have learned that we are on the Prime, on a world called Oerth. From what I understand, it is the world upon which my grandfather, Marik the Damned, lived. He was transformed into a wight by the ice lich Frostbone here. I have a theory that the two liches in our past may indeed be one and the same. If this is so, I should very much like to speak with Frostbone, to learn of my grandfather, and their battle. However, I will understand if your desire brings you to attack before I can question him. If the lich we contest is not Frostbone, then I will still assist you."
Dai'Morra Clayrentha

02-07-04, 04:59 AM
Elona looks at him in thought then finally speaks, "If they are then I will hold back my attack as long as I can for you, but I won't promise anything. If it is not then I shall only attack him because he has chosen to attack me first, not because I wish revenge. To want revenge is to want death; death is a relief and I don't wish him relief, I wish to bring him to justice."
JasperDm

02-07-04, 05:09 AM
"So be it." Seth realizes as his eyes begin to ache and burn that he is tired. "I spent the night meditating and preparing spells. I require sleep. Take the reins." Without another word, he heads into the back of the wagon, and curls into a warm bedroll, quickly falling into a sleep not far from death.

(It behooves me to mention that the "ice-lich" he is mentioning is functionally identical to the Scourge Lich of Warcraft d20, a combination necromancer/ice elementalist, with a dangerous combination of offensive, defensive and preperatory magic. I have the Warcraft d20 books, and they make for a nasty foe or twelve.)
Dai'Morra Clayrentha

02-07-04, 05:23 AM
{ooc: Sounds like it! ;) }

As soon as Seth heads to the back, Elona changes to her normal form and takes a hold of the reins happy that she had experience with animals. Elona looks to Tarran and Xavim, "Well, its just us guys. Anything interesting on your minds?"

Elona wanted to mention her feeling to Tarran but heeded Rareni's advice and kept her mouth quiet about it.
Lord Tarran

02-07-04, 09:54 AM
Tarran's brow furrows, as he glances at his pack daughter. She takes the hint, jumps out of the wagon, and begins walking alongside Rareni in wolf form. He takes a moment to collect himself, before speaking. He whistles to the horses, who continue on their path.

The Lich I had told you I had killed. His name too was Frostbone. But I thought I destroyed him. I should have recognized his magics feel when I flute dueled with him earlier. I remember gaining power when I killed him though. This is very strange.

Don't worry about healing for the rest of us Elona, I'm a quite capable healer, I'm just not as effective as Seth is. I can put the rest of us back together is need be. Plus, I regernate pretty quickly, and Blair's healing rate is off the wall. The Urver won't need any help either. Just Xavim, Seth, and you will need it, and possibly one of the Veran should we get truly thumped.

Also, I do have something to share to everyone. We will be recieving a little more aid a few miles up the road. A couple of friends of mine, and a true pain in the ass who is a friend of Blair's. A few Verur, a Verrati, and yet another True Veran, named Blake. He glances at Blair, shakes his head when he see's her brighten at the sound of her boyfriends name. He says to her: Yes, Logan brought him along.

Anyway, he glances back at Rare, and then forward at Elona. Rare told me about the feeling. Come here, I'll see if I can sort it out. If it was magical, I would be able to feel it, but its not, its something else.
JasperDm

02-07-04, 04:40 PM
After a time, Seth sits up slowly, and flexes his left hand, popping the joints. He moves into a simple sitting position, and lays open Libram, and prepares his spells, garnering necromantic spells proper for rending the living or dead asunder. Once finished, he draws forth the skull-symbol of the Dustmen, and begins to pray for his clerical spells, healings and devestations of the most severe nature, sure to affect most anything short of a true golem.
Dai'Morra Clayrentha

02-07-04, 04:59 PM
Elona turns around hearing Seth stir in the back and smiles, then turns back around watching the path ahead of them.
JasperDm

02-07-04, 05:21 PM
Having finished his spell preperations, Seth calmly ungloves his skeletal left hand and reaches for Elona's shoulder...
Dai'Morra Clayrentha

02-07-04, 05:24 PM
When his hand touches her shoulder she looks down at it and screams out, dropping the reins, spreading her wings, and appears to be mere seconds away from flying upward.
JasperDm

02-07-04, 05:27 PM
He speaks quickly, invoking the raw anti-magic of the Greater Dispelling, and as it washes over her, he speaks. "Still, child, you fly and I cannot heal you before the dispelling is overwhelmed." He begins to cast again.
Dai'Morra Clayrentha

02-07-04, 05:54 PM
Elona calms realizing it was only Seth and sits there while his magic takes affect.
JasperDm

02-07-04, 05:57 PM
Latching both hands onto her shoulders, he invokes the Positive Energy Plane, flooding her body with healing force, sweeping away the damage the curse has thus far done, leaving her safe and whole.

(Heal)
Dai'Morra Clayrentha

02-07-04, 06:28 PM
She smiles, "Thank you Seth, it is much appreciated."
Lord Tarran

02-07-04, 10:46 PM
Tarran glances at the proceedings between the mortif and the aasimar. He shakes his heads, in a patronizing kind of way, before all the color left his face, and he was suddenly in bear wolf form, onto the ground. The horses froze in fear, but not of Tarran. The Veran growls, as his Urver friends close around the wagon, keeping close. Blair is out next to her pack-father within seconds. Both look and sniff around growling. Both are obviously battle ready. Rustling is heard around the wagon, as red eyes are seen peering out. A flare of light explodes out of a howl sounded by Blair, and the creatures are seen. Shadowy creatures with red eyes, a little smaller than a normal elf. On the outer edge, men in familiar red robes are seen. He sends a yell in though speech backwards.

Urver! Keep you posts, guard the wagon. Seth, the black things look undead. Do something. Elona, those guys the assassins? Blair, wake Xavim if you can. Otherwise, get a barrier spell up around the wagon!
Dai'Morra Clayrentha

02-07-04, 10:53 PM
Elona looks at the men in red robes and her face goes ghostly white, "How did they find me?" She flies upward and then lands down in front of two men standing beside each other. Frowning she places her hands on her hips, her crystal sword appears in her hand glowing.
Lord Tarran

02-07-04, 11:04 PM
Said to men reach for axes, and find a very angry black wolf ripping out one of the throats, and a GIANT rat slaying the other. Tarran lets loose a triumpant howl. Suddenly, several giant bears spring up, taking several of the red men with them in a chage towards the wagon. They die, but the bears begin to circle the wagon alongside the Urver. The Veran leaps into the wagon, and a cheerful yelp is heard. Tarran rolls his eyes, charging towards Elona. He throws her into the air, and onto his back, before pounding back to the wagon. The Rat had already pounded towards the wagon, pulsing with dark energy, alongside the mortif. The shadow creatures were obviously waiting for Seth's actions. The red assassins were regrouping, not sure what to do, with 12 massive, intelligent animals guarding the wagon.
Dai'Morra Clayrentha

02-07-04, 11:07 PM
"Tarran.. no! I need to..." She stops speaking and lets Tarran do what he thinks is best for her. Though she doesn't seem to be having fun riding on the back of Tarran. Her eyes looking around her at the men gathered around wondering what has brough them here, to seek her.
Lord Tarran

02-07-04, 11:46 PM
He glances at her as he lets her off. He says in thought speech.

Need to what! They are a bit violent, if you haven't noticed. I don't know how they tracked you, but I have an idea. Once we are done with this, I'm going to show you what it is.

He glances at the wagon, as Blair jumps out, followed by a boy who looks like her made male, Blake. Tarran yells in thought!

You two, stop courting! Urver form now, twin blast howling, now! Take the men over there! Keep one alive. I'm going to need to talk with him.

The two nod, taking bear wolf forms. Flying forward as a howling blur, a twister of anger running around the men. Four drop, two stand. An axe slices one of the blurs, and a yelp is heard. That man drops to the other, as the other is stunned by a howl and a headbutt in the head. He drops, unconcious. Its Blake, and he runs to Blair, licking her wound. She seems hurt, as she takes human form, and slumps herself over the now human Blake. He calls out:

High Druid! She's been hurt badly. The axe's are enchanted! Someone knows about us! Someone gave these men Veranbanes!

Color drains again, as Tarran charges towards them, throwing his pack daughter over his shoulder. He charges back to the wagon, as she begins to convulse as he lays her on the ground. Blake is nearby, looking like a nervous father. Click! Something when off in Tarran's head. Nervous father. He clears his mind, willing to possibly deal with a pregnant sheveran later. Right now, his daughter was inn danger. The wound was festering already, her body shuddering, death rushing over her. Tarran whacks her on the forehead with the flat of his hand, her body freezes. He lays his hand on her head, his palms glowing blue. His face contorts, as he concentrates to still the wound. The wound stops festering and bleeding, but she is obviously still dying. Sweat begins to pour off him, as one hand goes over Blair's heart, another over his gut. Thunder pours down his arms, making the body of his daughter convulse more. His eyes pop open, the piercing blue replaced by disturbing white. He also begins to convulse. The wound seals, life thundering back into Blair. Tarran explodes into the air, his body shuddering with electricity. Blake rolls to the ground, taking Blair out of the way and into the wagon, as Tarran slams into the ground. He groans, and stands slowly. He trys to take wolf form, but comes out of it howling, in much pain. He limps towards the wagon, raising a hand up, creating a blue bublle around them. He falls next to Seth, giving him a look.

I need putting together please. My magic is gone for a little while, and my powers have kicked out for now.

He winces every time he moves.

Elona watched Tarran the others in sympathy at such a crisis, she couldn't do much for them, however she did remember one thing, her feathers...

She walks over to Tarran and kneels beside him, "Pull a feather from my wing, just yank on it, okay?" She places a wing between them and steadies herself waiting for him to pull out a feather, as it hurts her just as much as stabbing someone in the gut.
Lord Tarran

02-08-04, 12:08 AM
He shakes his head, as his hand reaches out. A cool feeling pulses into Elona's wing, as no pain is felt as a feather is plucked. The light of the feather comes over the werewolf, the pain disappears from his system for a moment. In that second, he changes to wolf form. He stays there for a few minutes, cringing every few moments. When he comes out, he is very pale, but obviously no longer in pain. Tarran walks over where Blake laid Blair down in the wagon. He plops down, motioning to Elona to walk over there. He lays a hand on Blake's shoulder.

Congratulations, your a father. The pup will be fine. But you and her need to get out of here. Teleport back to the glade, we will be fine on our own. Guard her, your son is on the line.

Blake nods. He lays a hand on Blair, and the two disappear in a flash of light. Tarran waits for Elona.

Seth stands, and black whisps of energy trail from his fingertips.

"Everybody get clear...this is going to be painful."

Seth begins to mutter whispery words of power. His fingers trace runes of power in mid-air, like tracery in the sand, and quickly, circles of power form. He slides his hands into two of the circles and spreads his fingers, and similar circles appear beneath the attackers. He finished with a screamed "MEMORY OF WOUNDS!"

The attackers strive to dodge, but to no avail. They begin to scream and bleed, as their bodies erupt in deep, bleeding wounds. It is as if every wound they had ever experienced re-opens, and seeps their lifeblood across the grass.

"The Dead Truce is empty here, fiends. You will find no victims here today."

(Based on Firebrand and Phantom Wounds, the spell is maximized, and hits one target per level for 1d6 damage per level and 1d4 wounds, as per a wounding weapon. Fortitude for half damage, and negate the wounds. In this case, 15 targets, 60 damage, 4 wounds each, and Seth is officially cheesed off.)

The werewolf merely whistles at the display of magic power. He gives the mortif a patronizing look.

Non-paragonic, my friend? I think not.

Elona smiles and follows Tarran and watched as the two disappeared. Her blue sapphire eyes look to Tarran showing great happiness but that soon fades when Seth does his attack on the men.

Elona hears a voice within her mind and looks around suddenly she begins cringing on her knees, holding her head, screaming out in pain.
Lord Tarran

02-08-04, 01:49 AM
I knew it! Tarran roars They are tracking you through the curse. No wait, he spots a glimmer on the back of her neck. this!

He slams the flat of his hand down on the back of her neck, the glimmer soldifying into an eye tattoo. He puts his hand flat on the tatoo, flooding Elona with piercing blue light. She convulses as the power overrides her body, but the tatoo lifts. He continues to send through her pulses of light, each sending a shockwave through her. He stops finally, both winded. He laughs,

Sorry about that. The soothing spell I had placed earlier interacted badly with the curse. Had to remove it. They were tracking you with a psionic tattoo that was placed on the back of your neck somehow. I erased that. Also, I just about obliterated my own spell, and the curse will be down for a few minutes. But I got the distinct impression that the lich intervened. Its definitely my Frostbone. Come here, you look shaken, let me comfort you.

He takes her in his arms, cradling her like a newborn. She hadn't realized how big he was until now, he carrying himself in a way that would betray his size. It wasn't that he was big and muscular, just tall and well built.
Dai'Morra Clayrentha

02-08-04, 01:56 AM
Elona half smiles and wraps her arms aorund his neck and hugs him, "Thank you Tarran, you know your taller than I realized." She smiles up at him, then starts to close her eyes, she was exhausted as well. "Let me rest while the curse is down.." Her body relaxes against his as she slowly succumbs to the sleep.
Lord Tarran

02-08-04, 02:06 AM
He smiles, watching as she falls off into slumber. He sings, a lullaby, glad to have found someone to sing it too. As Elona fell off, Rareni spoke to him through thought.

That's the song you sang to Blair when you rescued her before her transformation. You aren't...?

No, no. The thought of changing Elona into a Veran hadn't crossed my mind. I wouldn't want to burden her with it, no matter if it would break the curse.

So, its Frostbone. Your blood could heal it.

Yes, but that would transform her into a Veran, which I don't want to do. She's to important to be changed into one of us.

You actually care for her... don't you. Love possibly, Tarran?

Don't be ridiculous, Rare. I wouldn't allow myself to fall in love with a charge. It clouds vision. I do feel a certain...affection for her though. Like a dog to his master.

That's known as unconditional love, Tarran.

Tarran closes the link, as he rocks the Aasimar in his arms. He thinks though, about how his blood could heal the curse. He looks at Seth, and says to him in thought.

The lich is definitely Frostbone. I'm immune to any spell he could throw. That trait is in my blood. I think, knowing your skill, if you could isolate that, you could heal Elona. How does it sound? A bit of a long shot I know, but it could work.
Dai'Morra Clayrentha

02-08-04, 02:21 AM
Elona soon begins to have dreams that she had feared for so long, the other reason to why she never slept.

Elona stands just outside of the kingdom's walls, talking to her brother. A stranger walks up to them seeming friendly and lost. Elona and Brenan began to speak to him seeing if they could help. The stranger said the name of a place they hadn't heard before and they tell the stranger they've never heard of such a place. The stranger laughs at them saying that they will soon enough. 5 beings surrounded each one of them, Elona uses her crystal sword and starts fighting. She catcher her brother's fight from the corner of her eyes seeing him failing in his fight. She tries to hurry through the fight but they were strong, a great deal more than her. The others begin to gang up on Brenan and they all place their hands on his head, Elona tries to run over to him but two of the beings grab her by her arms and hold her back. Sadly she watched as her brother went from her brother to a stranger in a matter of seconds. Elona fell to her knees screaming out to him but he didn't recognize her. The strange beings left and she ran up to him, he pushed her away, breaking Elona's heart.

Elona woke up and clutched onto Tarran's arms, "Brenan! Tarran..!"

Elona looks around her and up at Tarran, realizing she was reliving her worst nightmare. Tears roll down her cheeks and she tries to get out of Tarran's grasp.

Seth turns, and now that the caravan is safe, draws forth his faction symbol, and begins to mutter something, and the caravan's members are washed with positive energy, and healed.

(Mass Heal, sorry so curt, it's my table-top Vampire night, only posting during breaks.)
Dai'Morra Clayrentha

02-08-04, 03:25 AM
Elona scrambles to Seth, "Please Seth...heal my mind! Save me from my memories!" She looks up to him, her eyes begging him..pleading him to help her.
JasperDm

02-08-04, 06:01 AM
Seth sighs, and speaks a word of Power, and she suddenly is overwhelmed with drowsiness, and struggle as she may, the True Word of Sleep saps her consciousness. As it does, Seth draws forth Libram, and speaks.

"Libram...turn to the black pages...it is time for the dark magics."

As Libram's pages turn, they stop on a black vellum page, edged in red, with the words "A Spell to Conquer and Pillage the Mind" gleam in gold.

"I hesitate to use so blasphemous a magic as this...but I see little alternative. Give me time to prepare, Terran, watch her as she rests. And as for your blood treatment plan, that depends on whether I can cure your strain of zooanthropy without eliminating the resistances gained by it. Else she will trade one curse for another one, no matter how seemingly beneficial."
Lord Tarran

02-08-04, 10:10 AM
Tarran nods. He speaks aloud.

My pack-sister said the same thing. Also, you would be unable to cure the strain from my blood, I'm a true born. Blake is also a true, but Blair is a formed. Maybe, after the pregnancy, we can give it a try.

Also, close Libram. Dreams and memories of charges are my specialty. I might look like a brute, but I'm also a born empath. Let me deal with this. While she sleeps, I can work with fair immunity and bias from her voice. I'll tell you if I can't deal with it.

Tarran holds Elona ever closer, his eyes closing, his breath and hers coming to a match. Both look utterably relaxed, but the internal workings of the mind of the Veran are not so. He looks at his charges most recent dream and thoughts. He looks over her memories. He sees suddenly, why such a problem has occured. He says to her unconcious mind:

You never talked to anyone about that day. You were never true with your feelings. So, for years, the feelings of anger and despair pile onto you. They enter your dreams. They disturb your mind. Let them go. The only way for your brother to be truly healed is if you let it go, and search for a cure. I might be able to release some of the binded memories, but I refuse to allow you to have your own bound. Release those feelings, they will only hurt you.
Dai'Morra Clayrentha

02-08-04, 03:45 PM
Elona hears him but makes no response to him, though she stirs a little her body moving just a bit. Her rest wasn't natural but deep within her she was happy to be at rest.
Lord Tarran

02-08-04, 03:55 PM
He sees she is fully asleep, and happy, but he knows that she must be able to sleep normally, without magical aid.

Elona! Listen! You must not use magic to guard your feelings. You must learn to deal with them! Pay attention!

He prepares in this mental stage a dispelling spell, ready to keep the body of the aasimar asleep, but awaken the mind if she chooses to ignore him
Dai'Morra Clayrentha

02-08-04, 03:58 PM
Elona finally answers Tarran after a minute in his mind, "I need to Tarran, I'm not strong enough!"
Lord Tarran

02-08-04, 04:13 PM
I am your guardian, he states. I refuse to allow any harm to come to you, and am here to help. I will guard you with my life in the face of physical danger, and with my empathic abilities in the mind and soul. I will be the strength you need to get through this. It is the only way you will grow stronger, Elona! Otherwise, you are crippling yourself. Trust me.

He stares her mental eyes down with his own, waiting for a reply.
JasperDm

02-08-04, 04:37 PM
Seth watches silently, secretly relieved that he need not use a spell known to most mages only as "Mind Rape". Seth has always been of a mind to use whatever tools are necessary for a job, but the spell was unclean, even in its simplest nature. He sighs, and looks to Libram, and Libram sighs as well.

"Honestly Seth. You have to get it out of that empty bonebox of yours. You are not the strongest one here. Rest, and let the others do what they do well. In fact, if I was under the impression you EVER listened to my advice, I'd recommend you go determine the dark of your previous attackers, while the werewolf works."

"For once, Libram...I think you are correct."

Seth jumps down, and goes to examine the area of the attack for clues.
Lord Tarran

02-08-04, 04:42 PM
The Urver named Rareni seemed to have had the same idea. She glances at Seth as he comes to where he slayed the creatures, transforming into a human form. She looks somewhat like what Blair might look like in 20 years. She asks:

I didn't recognize though things except as undead. The smell they gave off though, is unmistakable. They have soemthing to do with the Corvera. Maybe they were.
JasperDm

02-08-04, 04:52 PM
"I am unfamiliar with your terminology, so I do not know what a Corvera is. However, I am going to attempt to determine the nature of the beings, and thereby determine, possibly, who created them. Terran theorizes that these are the servants of Frostbone, the ice-lich. I should be able to determine their nature, weaknesses, and possibly, whether I can negotiate with them peacefully next time."

(Taking 20 on Knowledge(Religion) to determine the nature of these undead. Taking a +2 synergy from K(arcana) and a +2 circumstancial from experience for a 53. Talk at me about some undead.)
Lord Tarran

02-08-04, 05:03 PM
Sorry, I forgot I'm no longer at Lu.

Covera are Veran who sacrificed some of their live force to a vampire or other greater undead in return for some of the power they would gain if they slew the creature. But these were dead already. The were small enough to possibly be Verrati Covera, had they not been dead. This could be a problem if they are. But you slew them fairly easily. Tarran obviously didn't even guess what they were, by the way he had us stay close to the wagon.

If it truly is Frostbone who is behind this, I could see him giving Verrati the curse of Covera, killing them, and bringing them back even stronger than before. That would also explain why he gave those other men the Veranbane axes. She shudders at the thought. As far as I know Covera aren't weak to anything. Maybe ask Tarran when he awakes if you don't have a guess.
JasperDm

02-08-04, 05:15 PM
"If they have somehow gained a power from a lich, there is only one ability that matters, compared to what one might gain from a simple skeleton...the phylactery's bond. It is through that bond that a lich returns from the dead again and again. If they have gained phylacteries, then they will return. However, I am beginning to recognize the spells used here, and I think I can grasp the end result. They may be akin to vampire-spawn, the red eyes were a sign of vampirism, of undead predatorialism, and only the vampire is the most predominant lichform outside of the Outer Planes, and I doubt that Frostbone has access to Blood Fiends. However, as the attack occurred during the daytime, there is a good chance that they are infused with the power of Shadow, to protect and hide them, and if so, this lich has mastered lifeshaping to a degree that we can no longer assume anything about his servants.

"But in this case, I may be able to subdue one, and interrogate it."
Lord Tarran

02-08-04, 05:19 PM
Rareni suddenly springs forward, picking up the man who had been knocked out earlier.

Will he do?
Dai'Morra Clayrentha

02-08-04, 06:04 PM
"No, I dare not rely on you for so much Tarran, you do not need the extra burden. I will continue to hide behind the magic for as long as I can." Elona's voice tone was that of determination, one which is often hard to persuade someone to do something other than the original thought.
Lord Tarran

02-08-04, 06:15 PM
I am here specifically to take that burden, that is my job. And I won't allow you to hurt yourself in that way. I might techinically be your servant, as your guardian, but I refuse to follow orders right now. I'm an empath, I can deal with a little despair. I watched my mother die. Rare won't tell you this, but I watched her die to. I raised her back from the dead, but there wa no hope for my mother. I watched my first pack-daughter get ripped limb from limb. I watched my father burn at the stake in a prejudice village. I saw my best friend get murdered. I, when under the control of a vampire, slew my brother. I know despair. I know anger. Whatever you are feeling can not begin to compare to the pain I have gone through. You need to trust me. I am thinking for your best interest. The only reason I function is because I was able to let it all go. You must do the same, or you will die. This is the cause of the feeling. It was not the feeling of physical death, but the feeling of emotional and mental doom. You must release. Magic is a crutch, not a cure. RELEASE!
Dai'Morra Clayrentha

02-08-04, 06:23 PM
Her voice saddens, "Whether it be a crutch or not I will use it! I have to live day to day knowing what I LET happen, I could have stopped it Tarran! I didn't fight hard enough nor long enough, its all my fault! He no longer remembers because of me!"

Elona's body tenses as the emotions within her magnify.
Lord Tarran

02-08-04, 06:28 PM
You can't blame yourself for the past Elona! Its over and done with, and there is nothing you can do but move on and find a way to fix the problem. Mourning over it only hurts you. The past is the past. Now is now Elona. This is not the only thng that plagues you, tell me what else is on your mind that is impeding your judgement. Let me in Elona, I want to help.
Dai'Morra Clayrentha

02-08-04, 06:37 PM
"I can't tell you Tarran, if I tell you, things will change. I refuse to speak of it. The last time I opened up a lot of emotions ran high and people got hurt, nay.. I shall not speak of it Tarran."

Elona's body breaking free of the spells casted upon her she sits up quickly and tries to break free of Tarran's grasp.
Lord Tarran

02-08-04, 06:42 PM
Tarran lingers a moment more in her mind, saying the words that have crippled so many.

I know what you feel towards me, and the feeling is mutual, Elona. I'm willing to share with you my help, my dear. I am a Veran, and I am an empath. I can deal with anything thrown at me. You're only hurting yourself.

His image fades from her mind, as he allows her to stand up. He shakes his head slightly. Walking out the wagon, towards a tree near the still wagon. HIs aura gives a very, follow me feel.
Dai'Morra Clayrentha

02-08-04, 07:01 PM
Elona watches Tarran leave and follows him her walk a bit slower. Her blue sapphire eyes looking around at the others then back to Tarran,
Lord Tarran

02-08-04, 07:05 PM
Why won't you release your emotions, Elona?

He asks, fairly concerned.

You know what I am capable of, and what I have been through, but still you resist. Tell me, what is it?
Dai'Morra Clayrentha

02-08-04, 07:19 PM
Elona looks at Tarran, her eyes devoid of the hapiness that normally shines behind them, "Tarran.. if I let you help me, if I let you in, if I let it all out then my protective wall will be down, I'll be vulnerable.." Her eyes now looking into his as she steps up to him and hugs him, "Don't ask that of me... I beg you Tarran..."
Lord Tarran

02-08-04, 07:28 PM
We must all be vulnerable at some point Elona. Look at me. I completely forgot the shadow creatures the second Blair got hurt. I put myself in an extremely weak position just to rescue her. Unfortunately for me, I don't have a guardian. You do. I will be the wall as we sort out the emotions and the memories. You are more vulnerable with the emotions then you would be without them.

He gives her a look.

And you know it.
Dai'Morra Clayrentha

02-08-04, 07:40 PM
She steps back and nods, tears fall down her cheeks, and she falls to her knees. Her hands now covering her face as she weeps.
Lord Tarran

02-08-04, 07:45 PM
He swoops down in wolf form, engulfing her in his warm fur. He licks her face, lapping up the salty tears. He radiates comfort, as he holds her in wolf form.

Elona, don't cry. Just release. i'm here for you.
Dai'Morra Clayrentha

02-08-04, 07:53 PM
As Tarran licks her face and would expect salty tears hers are sweet. Elona looks up to him, "I.. I don't know how Tarran.."
Lord Tarran

02-08-04, 08:02 PM
Lets start with telling me everything you can think of off the top of your head. Then we will see what needs addressing.
Dai'Morra Clayrentha

02-08-04, 08:06 PM
"Well, okay.. I'll just list them then I suppose... my father, brother, you, me, and the others whom travel with us." She looks up to Tarran, resting her weight against him, and waits for his response.
Lord Tarran

02-08-04, 08:14 PM
Lets start with the immediate problems. You, whats wrong?
JasperDm

02-08-04, 11:59 PM
Over by the battle site, oblivious to their almost romantic moment, Seth works. He presents his faction symbol to the unconscious thing and negative energy flares from it, black and ominous. It flares like an anti-sun, and the black energy sinks into the thing's body.

"Rise, servant of Frostbone. Your master is far, and your will is now mine. You will obey me until I am done with you. Do you understand?"

The creature stands shakily, and you realize with a twinge of fear that Seth is a necromancer in truth, for his is the power to command the undead. Seth steps forward, placing a hand on the creature, and mutters a few phrases. Greyish clinging magics swell and flow into the creature, healing it as only harming magic can do.

"Now, creature, you will tell me who and what you are, to the best of your knowledge and understanding."
Dai'Morra Clayrentha

02-09-04, 07:44 PM
Elona looks to Tarran, "Its my mind Tarran, I just can't stop remembering things. I don't want to remember them, the thoughts slow me down and make me vulnerable."
Lord Tarran

02-09-04, 08:13 PM
Unfortunately, my dear, all of us have those memories. The best we can do is simply move on. We allow them to slow us down. It has been a long time, let it pass. The memory will always hurt, there's nothing we can do, but binding them is lying to yourself, which is simply not healthy. Okay?

Now, what bothers you about the others. I to just felt that chill radiating from Seth, but suprisingly, he means well. What's wrong?

Rare simply stares at Seth, as the conquered man (the guy was alive!) simply stares at the mortif.

Who are you? Where am I? Who am I? What's this axe? Whats an axe?

This man does not seem to be pretending. Indeed, it seems he has no memory.
Dai'Morra Clayrentha

02-09-04, 08:19 PM
"I don't know.. like you I know they mean well, but I just can't place it. Perhaps it is just my celestial side trying to take over.." She sighs and shakes her head, her rainbow coloured hair falling around her shoulder.
Lord Tarran

02-09-04, 08:43 PM
As I remember, I said the same thing when I first came into the Tavern. Anyway, I still don't trust Xavim, but Seth is okay. Trust your instincts, but don't alienate anyone right this moment. We might need them at some point.

Now, what is bothering you over your father and brother? You have been hinting several times, but what's actually going on.
Dai'Morra Clayrentha

02-09-04, 08:50 PM
She stands up and looks at him, "No.. I can't speak of anything else now. I can't..." She slowly begins to walk back to the wagon, her head hung low, and her wings half folded behind her back.
Lord Tarran

02-09-04, 08:57 PM
Elona, come back here please. If you don't wish to talk of your father yet, tell me of me. What troubles you so about me? I am saddened to hear that I contribute to your unrest.

He steers her back to the tree in wolf form.
Dai'Morra Clayrentha

02-09-04, 09:02 PM
Elona lets him lead her back to the tree and sighs. "Tarran, I know you wanted to do this, being a guardian and all, but..." She lowers her eyes, "Are you sure you want to do it Tarran, is there no doubt in your heart or anywhere else within you?"
Lord Tarran

02-09-04, 09:15 PM
Part of having canine blood in me in stubborn preserverance. I said I would do this, and I will carry through. I have suufered enough emotional pain on my own, I'm not particulary worried about a little more. Come, come. Tell me, what troubles you with me?
Dai'Morra Clayrentha

02-09-04, 09:18 PM
She stood close to Tarran as the air seemed colder all of a sudden to her, "I feel that perhaps that maybe you should be doing more things with your pack daughter."
Lord Tarran

02-09-04, 09:33 PM
Tarran also detects a sudden shift in temperature, and once again engulfs his charge in warm fur. He smiles in his wolf way.

Why is that? Sure, she's my daughter, but she's grown up now, with a chrage of her own, and a boyfriend, and slightly to my dismay, a child growing in her belly. Amaru better wed them when they arrive at the glade. I'm going to be a grandfather. But don't worry about my pack life. I called my daughter to me to help, but when she got injured, I sent her away for her protection. I need to be out in the world, she needs to stay home and continue to learn. Lu is a quiet town where that can all be done for her. Traveling with me is not. I also can't stay there anymore. I've put Lu in too much danger. Constantly on the move, or simply somewhere different keeps my loved ones safe.. Except for you, which I need to keep an eye on.

He smiles again, using some of his power to warm up the air and himself for Elona's comfort.
Dai'Morra Clayrentha

02-09-04, 09:40 PM
Elona smiles, "I suppose that takes care of that worry, thank you Tarran. Just no more of this today, I can't handle it okay?"
Lord Tarran

02-09-04, 09:53 PM
Fine with me. These things take time. Those its suprising how I can already feel a change in your emotions. I think we should stay here for the night. Give me a few minutes to set up wards around the camp, and you can set up whatever you are planning on seting up for yourself. My friends will sleep on the edges of the wards.

He stands, taking human form, and begins working spells as the sun falls. Within a few minutes he has spent the last of his energies. He sits in wolf form a few moments more, collecting his energies again, before trotting over to Elona.
Dai'Morra Clayrentha

02-09-04, 10:00 PM
Elona nods to him and then turns to look around her. She sighs and then watches as Tarran comes back to her.

She sits down at the base of the tree and uses her pointer finger to make golden symbols in the air that hover in the air then slowly fade.
Lord Tarran

02-09-04, 10:03 PM
The wolf wraps around the angel, laying his massive head in her lap. He gazes at her, smiling in his eyes.

Anything not life changing you would like to talk about?
Dai'Morra Clayrentha

02-09-04, 10:18 PM
She shakes her head while continuing to make the golden symbols appear as she makes a line of different symbols mark the air. "No dear Tarran, we have spoken a lot today, many of which has opened my eyes up more clearly." She smiles to him, then continues writng the symbols.
Lord Tarran

02-09-04, 10:24 PM
His tone changes to one of very young as he says:

What cha doin'?
Dai'Morra Clayrentha

02-09-04, 10:27 PM
She grins, "I'm sending a message to my father. Each symbol represents a word and as it disappears it is written in a book my father keeps close to him at all times. This is how he knows I am safe and well. It would be useful for you to learn as well, if you ever wanted to learn."
Lord Tarran

02-10-04, 04:29 PM
He glances at the symbols appearing and disappearing, smiling in his way before saying.

I don't think I would be able to learn. I'm not particulary arcanely adept. It took a few years for me to master the most basic of my sorcery, and I still have many troubles when using my powers.
Dai'Morra Clayrentha

02-10-04, 04:32 PM
Elona nods with a smiles, she traces a symbol carefully in front of Tarran, "That one is your name..." She smiles at him and yawns a little, "I am unusually tired for this time, I don't know why."
JasperDm

02-10-04, 06:11 PM
Seth sits the man down, realizing the inflict critical wounds was an error in judgement, pushes through his ponderous list of spells, and casts Heal on the man, and sits him down. As he does, Libram slaps open and speaks to Elona and Terran.

"Seth's powers do not lend themselves well to enchantment and mind-control, you two. And his skills in dealing with the living are a bit short of average. So if you don't want him ending up losing your one chance at some information to Seth's belef that the easiest way to learn is through "Speak with Dead", I recommend you go help."
Dai'Morra Clayrentha

02-10-04, 06:15 PM
Elona grins and stands up then goes to find Seth. The wind whips at her bare arms and parts of her legs that show. She shivers and continues walking.
JasperDm

02-11-04, 05:56 AM
Seth looks up from the languid man, and sees Elona, and completely abandoning the amnesiac, walks over to her.

"Elona. I have found a survivor from the attack. He is not undead. I have healed him and set him down there." He points. "I am going back to the wagon."

Without further preamble, he leaves them, and heads off.
Dai'Morra Clayrentha

02-11-04, 11:09 AM
Elona smiles at him and nods, "Thank you Seth, that was most helpful. I will inform you of what we find out. oh and Tarran suggest we camp here for the night."She then walks to the man and sits beside him, seeming not to care of the dangers of doing so. Elona watches him for a few minutes before doing anything else.
Lord Tarran

02-11-04, 05:16 PM
Tarran walks over, looks the man over, and places his hand flat in the man's skull. Violet lightning pulses down his arms, slamming into the man's head. The man shudders as if electorcuted, as Tarran continues to fry him with his magic. Suddenly, Tarran stops, the man dropping to the ground, groaning. Tarran snaps his fingers, as the plants spring to life, tieing the man up. Tarran says, highly annoyed:

I freed his memory from the prisons they were placed in. He knows whats going on, and who he is. I'll question him in the morning.

He turns back into giant wolf form, curling up near the tree, giving Elona the come here look.
Dai'Morra Clayrentha

02-11-04, 09:42 PM
Elona watches Tarran in horror and frowns, then sees him giving her the look and walks over to him. Gracefully she sits down beside Tarran, her eyes looking curiously at him.
Lord Tarran

02-11-04, 09:50 PM
He lays his head in her lap again, looking at her mournfully. He says:

I'm sorry that I frightened you. I tend to be brusque with those who would dare threaten my charge, especially this one.

He nuzzles her, as his aura changes to one of love and care.

See, wolves aren't big and bad, just always hunting enemies of charges.
Dai'Morra Clayrentha

02-11-04, 10:10 PM
She smiles while gently petting him on his head, "Its alright, I just didn't expect it is all. Next time I shouldn't be so surprised. I've never thought badly of werewolves or the like. I only think bad of the people who give me reason to, like those men.." She nods her head in the direction of the man that Tarran has tied up.
Lord Tarran

02-11-04, 10:14 PM
When you see a werwolf, always assume the worst. Most lycanthropes are evil. As long as I'm near, you don't need to worry, but at any other time, never trust a werewolf. Veran, maybe, but only if his aura is like mine. Otherwise, he's corrupted.
That's the first time in a while I had to use that kind of magic. It doesn't feel good, let me tell you.

He snuggles a bit more, now looking up at her.
Dai'Morra Clayrentha

02-11-04, 10:21 PM
Elona rests her hand on his head and the other is placed behind her to help hold herself up. "I will remember that Tarran, though you are the first werewolf I've met. It is a pleasure for it to be a good one on the first encounter." She grins at him then turns her gaze back up to the sky.
Lord Tarran

02-11-04, 10:26 PM
You're the lucky one? I thought I was lucky, running into a paragon in this chaos.

He follows her gaze.

What cha looking at?

{This is probably my last for the night. I might post once more in the fortress. Night :D}
Dai'Morra Clayrentha

02-11-04, 10:35 PM
She smiles and shakes her head, "'Tis nothing Tarran but memories that are brought forth to my memory, they are good ones and I welcome them."
Lord Tarran

02-12-04, 04:55 PM
May I know what you think? Happy memories are always welcome.

He smiles deeply, that is, if a giant wolf could do that.
Dai'Morra Clayrentha

02-12-04, 05:06 PM
She sighs, "Perhaps another time Tarran for I grow tired, but I still fear rest..."
Lord Tarran

02-12-04, 05:22 PM
Don't fear sleep. I'm near. I'll keep you safe. You and I together can work through the dreams. Rest now, Elona, tommorrow will be a busy day.

HIs aura strengthens, warmth and love flowing more.
Dai'Morra Clayrentha

02-12-04, 05:28 PM
She half smiles at him, "Thank you for being so kind and understanding with me Tarran."

She then curls up on the ground her wings wrapped protectively around her, almost as if acting like a shield for her.
Lord Tarran

02-12-04, 05:31 PM
HE makes a knocking sound with his teeth, looking mournfully at her.

Why are you leaving me out in the cold? I wanted to be near you, not your wing shield.

{The guy is essentially a big puppy at times.}
Dai'Morra Clayrentha

02-12-04, 05:34 PM
She sits up, her wings folding behind her and disappears into her back. "I'm sorry, its a habit. When I traveled around my wings were the only protection I had while sleeping."
Lord Tarran

02-12-04, 05:37 PM
The wolf nods knowingly, as he wraps himself around her like a strange living coat/blanket/warm thing. :D. His aura remains what it had been. He says.

Your wings guarding us again wouldn't hurt. I'm afraid that I won't be able to watch Xavim while I sleep, so a little extra beside my barrier would be nice.
Dai'Morra Clayrentha

02-12-04, 05:56 PM
She smiles and nods making her wings fold back out and surrounds them in soft white feathers. "My dreams Tarran, what about the dreams? They shall only wake me and I won't be able to go back to sleep."
Lord Tarran

02-12-04, 08:24 PM
I'm near, don't worry. I'll guard you from nightmares. ANd if one slips through, I'm right here to make it all better.

His breathing calmed, came to a calming rhythm, waiting for Elona's response.
Dai'Morra Clayrentha

02-12-04, 10:27 PM
Elona smiles and nods, "Thank you Tarran, I shall try to sleep..." She lays her head down close to him and closes her eyes, waiting for sleep to take over her mind.
Lord Tarran

02-12-04, 10:29 PM
He smiles and says:

Good night.

{Done for the night. See ya later.}
Dai'Morra Clayrentha

02-12-04, 10:31 PM
{ooc: See ya! ;) } Sleep begins to blanket her mind with a type of resting she hasn't done in a long time. She scoots as close to Tarran as she could get, her white wings still wrapped around them.
Lord Tarran

02-14-04, 11:18 AM
He returns the snuggle, allowing his body to sink into sleep, but his mind up and alert near Elona, watching for nightmares.
Dai'Morra Clayrentha

02-16-04, 12:34 AM
As she sleeps, its almost as though she cringes from something, her body seeming to withdraw from Tarran.
Lord Tarran

02-16-04, 11:43 AM
His aura intensifies, as he tries to discover what is making her cringe.
Dai'Morra Clayrentha

02-16-04, 11:25 PM
He soon finds that she is dreaming, her dreams showing images of a dead woman who has been cut up and wounded badly. The woman reaches to Elona, but Elona steps back and looks repulsed by the woman covered in blood.
Lord Tarran

02-17-04, 04:04 PM
He begins to cast a healing spell, and then remembers its a dream. He enters the dreamscape, invisible to Elona, but visible to the dream beast. He stands between the woman and Elona.
JasperDm

02-17-04, 10:29 PM
Seth sits at the front of the wagon, reading silently, doing his best not to listen in to their words and actions. He mutters in the Old Tongue to Libram, and they appear to be conversing about some subject that, according to Seth's gestures, are depicted in the book. Strangely, the aware might catch the word "Verrati" used rather often.
Lord Tarran

02-17-04, 10:32 PM
Rare hears, and marches over to the mortiff. She sits next to him quietly for a moment, before saying:

I've heard you say Verrati. What's up?

{Nice to see your still around, my friend. By the way, have you seen Xavim?}
JasperDm

02-17-04, 10:42 PM
Seth looks up.

"The Verrati interest me, I am well acquainted with various strains of lycanthropy, and that of wererats most of all, as they were rather common in my city of youth. I had at many times considered them to be powerful, and possessed of very useful talents. I had wondered how the Verrati strain is transferred, and its repercussions for a set of projects I have coming up.

"Can you give me some details concerning this? I have gathered it is a combination of birth transference and infection."
Lord Tarran

02-17-04, 10:48 PM
Verrati are the most interesting strain of Verbeast. They can pass their abilities on through birth, which become true Verrati and have the same power as True Veran, or through a rite of inductment, which a willing participant is given the gift. Or, once every hundred years, one of them goes rabid, and anything it bites becomes merely a common wererat. I'm not exactly the expert however. Either Lil' or Mel would be the ones to talk to. They are our glade's resident True Verrati, serving as our scouts. They were around, I remember, but I don't know where they are now.

She whistles a complex code, and the male Verrati seen earlier fades in behind her. He says in a shadowy voice:

You called? What is it that I may do for you, Milady Rareni?
JasperDm

02-17-04, 10:57 PM
"I have a few questions for you. I am Seth Marik, and I am a student of the body. I should like to know about the wererats and the Verrati in particular. Transference, abilities, and any religious or spiritual significance in your culture. I am interested in studying the details of the strain..."
Lord Tarran

02-17-04, 11:08 PM
He gives the mortif a hard look, scanning Seth's brain with pure psychic force. No cranny is left unlooked at. The verrati backs away from any truly private deatils, but everything else seems to be fair game. HE sighs for a moment, before continuing:

We transfer our curse, as we refer to it to outsiders, through our children. Before they bear children, they may choose one normal human, and induct that person into out ranks, as a lesser verrati, equal in power to the Urver. Well, kinda. Otherwise, we can't pass it on. We must want to. Once in a while, when the race dips low, one goes mad and transforms many.
True Verrati are made mostly for sneaking about, hiding, learning, spying. Our powers are otherwise the same as True Veran, meaning our absorbtion. We are prone to shadow magiks, however, as well as psionic powers, which are somewhat inherent. We have no widespread religios beliefs. My wife and I are both followers of the goddes Hin, a goddess of light and joy, contrary to her mastery of the shadow energies, and my powers as a Telepath and Pyrokinetic. I apologize for the mind pry. You just didn't feel right to me. Now knowing your heritage however...

He trails off. He seems to fade at the edges.
JasperDm

02-18-04, 03:53 AM
"I see. I had wondered if I could get a fully-functional sampling, but I see that it would be difficult. As for your telepathic questioning, I would be deeply suprised if you garnered any sensitive information at all, my mind and emotions have oft-times been referred to as adamantine.

So, while you are true wererats, infectious as normal through bite, the enhanced powers of the Verrati strain are only inherited. Hence, short of wish-level magics, creating a new Varrati from a non-blood relative would be nigh-impossible, correct?"
Lord Tarran

02-18-04, 06:42 PM
The verrati grins wickedly.

Not even gods can recreate true Verbeast status. We are outside their reach completely. Why do you think we have no clerics? The gods want nothing to do with us, just watching out not to anger us. You see, certain powers, when garnered by one, travel between the others. Take Tarran as an example. He might not have told you, but he and his brother Amaru are the patriachs of there branch of true veran. There father bestowed this on them. Whenever a truly unique power is gained, all of his bloodline gain it. Tarran killed a demon prince, which though it is little known, are lesser gods. You realize what this means? Those with divine blood are wide open to all of Tarran's blood line. Tarran's blood is orginal Veran. Every Verbeast is descended from his blood. Think.
JasperDm

02-21-04, 10:12 AM
So, what you are telling me is that the zooanthropy you have is not much different than others, but that you have inherited what amounts to some sort of, for want of a better term, phagic sorcery, that copies the powers of your opponents, and the opponents of others of your lineage. The two forces are somewhat exclusive, but the phagic sorcery requires the zooanthropy to activate. Furthermore, should a "true Verbeast" actually infect someone or something, it would transfer a more mundane strain of their particular zooanthropy. Is that an accurate summary?
Lord Tarran

02-22-04, 01:44 PM
The Verrati glances upwards muttering under his breath, thinking it over. He says:

Nearly. We can, once in our life time, transform an non verbeast, into a true one. Othherwise, yes, you are correct. We're a bit scary. If it means anything, I know the populations of each species.

True Verur, werebear, number 2000 strong, with lots of lesser werebears under them.
True verrati number about 2000 as well.
True Veran number merely 1000, but the other two breeds of Veran are quite common, and still have abosorbtion, just not on the smae level.
Tarran lied to you on the nonexistence of Vercats. There are Verer, were tiger, which are only about 100 strong. There are no other recorded Veran Races.
JasperDm

02-22-04, 02:33 PM
"You mentioned that you have no clerics. How do your religious beliefs interact with your state, you have compared your race to quasi-deific beings yourself. Would you say that it is considered important, to an individual, and your society, who a Verrati gives this enhanced rodenthropy to? Furthermore, a secondary question: Has any of your number become undead, or included in a construct, and if so, have they retained their Verrati abilities?"

His words are blunt, but seem almost academic. He seems completely indifferent as to the answer, only that it is learned and documented. (+29 on Bluff, taking 10)
Lord Tarran

02-22-04, 02:54 PM
When we die, we leave no remains, we merely shatter, and scatter to the winds. Those that we sire are improtant, and when chosen, it goes under council. Also, I don't understand you first statement. But what butgs me is you haven't told me the truth. Why do you want to know all this?
JasperDm

02-22-04, 03:03 PM
He looks right at the shapechanger.

"Three reasons. First, academically, I study curses of the body and mind, and more education on the subject is always welcome. Secondarily, I had considered attempting to contract the 'Verrati strain' myself. Tertiarily, I am working on a project that would benefit from such a infusion of permanent, versatile power. Though, it is in too early of a planning stage to discuss in detail."
Lord Tarran

02-22-04, 10:07 PM
I'm afraid, good sir, that contracted Verrati might be fatal for you. You are not fully human, but touched by the creatures we were destined to annihilate. But should you need great power, and versatile and portable, I have a greater solution. You said earlier I could not read much from you. Unfortunately for yourself, I could. I am Melior, head of the Verrati clan Mindplague. We long ago mastered the psionic arts. I long ago bestowed my siring on another, a human female, now my wife, Lil. I would, however, be willing to teach you the arts of the mind. You, I learned, are nearly in complete mastery of the 10 schools of the Arcane and Divine. Soon, I suspect, you plan to excel into the master spells, the epic spells, as soon as you fully conquer the 10 circle. I offer you the exploitation of your mind as a weapon, adding to your already exponentially huge powers as a spellcaster. I can bring you to the fifth circle within a few weeks. Past that, it would take years to learn through teaching, and you will be on your own to learn. Do you accept?

{Before you ask, Mel is a 25 level Psion(Telepath) a 5 level fighter, and an extra +5 to ECL because of being Verrati.}
JasperDm

02-23-04, 01:47 AM
"I must master True Wish before I continue into a new Art, and test myself against the arts of psionics.

However, learning the rudimentary theory now is acceptable. I have learned of the psionic Mind Mages, and have considered learning how to copy their abilities. I am your student."
JasperDm

02-25-04, 04:42 PM
(Been a couple of days, anyone still watching the thread? I say it's about time we discuss reaching the mountain, and beginning the adventure?)
Lord Tarran

02-25-04, 08:32 PM
((Sorry, Ive been a little distracted, and Dai'morra's been MIA for a while. I'll check with Ava, to see when she's getting back. Also, could you contact Xavim through PM and Email, he's ignored me.))

The wererat smiles, and places his hand on the forehead of the mortif. OVer the course of the night, he begins to unlock the psionic powers in the wight touched. (Effectively allowing you access to all talents and psionics through 2nd level powers, as a 4th level psion.)

The woman in the dream turns to Tarran. "This is not your battle! This battle is for Elona alone! You must not meddle with what her mind wishes her to see and remember!"
JasperDm

02-26-04, 02:36 AM
"Interesting, I feel a new clarity of thought, and less encombered by the failings of Dust. I feel as if my mind is more able to percieve form and function than before, and I can plot out more complex systems and functions of my own mind.

"While the feeling is deeply interesting, it will have to wait before I can address it in more detail, as I must complete my studies and breach the 10th Circle of Magic, to avail the celestine of a casting of True Wish, as that was our agreement. I do not break my agreements, and I feel so close to a breakthrough, I daresay I can almost taste it."

(Turns out he's Metacreative, who knew?)
Lord Tarran

02-26-04, 04:02 PM
Dream Tarran stares at the woman. He says in a growling voice:
There is a strict difference between dreams and memories, and demons that plague the mind. I wonder, which are thee? You feel evil...and I felt something not fully her fault in her mind? Well creature? What are you?
Leenaria The Pixie

02-26-04, 11:00 PM
"I am nothing of importance to you, move and let me go on with my business. This does not concern you! What I am here for is not of your business! Move creature before I shall seep into your mind. I warn you, your bodies are not unwatched! Leave before yours no longer is in one piece!"

02-27-04, 12:00 PM
Seth slowly pulls forth the golden sphere he had earlier, and peers into it deeply. He mutters in Kadati again, and stares at the sphere, so intently that his black eyes begin to glow a fearsome yellow.

Libram speaks, a low whisper. "Is it a good idea to keep that out around the others? It's crucial for the project, and if the others learned of its nature, it is very likely they would act rashly, to the point of destroying it. Put it away, Seth. The day to use it is far away, and you have much studying to do. Furthermore, initiate, there is a greater note to be made. Your precious mountain is ahead. You should reach it by morning, perhaps you should make preparations."

"So be it, Libram, but forget not who is the master here, and who the familiar. You may have been Factol Skall's old familiar, but that does not mean you carry his authority. And as for the importance of that mountain, we will go, and do this, despite the fact that the key for my Plane Shift spell is almost done. I have become interested in seeing if Frostbone is indeed here, and what can be gained by encountering him."

Libram claps open, irritably. "Most likely a quick test of your own progress towards the True Death, boy. I have never known you to buy trouble, why have you started now?"

"To quote a certain prime, Libram...'I have promises to keep...and miles to go before I sleep.' Now reference my anti-undead spells, I'll be loading up on them, and my healing retinue for Elona."
Lord Tarran

02-28-04, 08:47 AM
Dream Tarran glares at the woman, detecting the demon within. He shakes his dream head. A dream demon was not truly a problem for him, but the friends of said demon might be. He blinks out for a moment, raising several defensive spells on the outer bodies, before returning and growling at the monster in wolf form.

You might not be aware, demon, but I am her guardian. Things that hurt her are my business. Now I would like you to calmly leave Elona's dream scape forever, or I will rip you out of the dream right now, and finish you in the prime. If I have learned nothing, its that dream creatures removed from the dream, are quite weak. I'll give you 10 seconds.
JasperDm

02-28-04, 09:09 AM
Seeing magic shimmer around the two dreaming forms, Seth raises an inquisitive eyebrow, and rustles through his cloak for a small tuning fork, colored like oil on water, a shimmering, mobile prismatic effect. He strikes the tuning fork against the wagon, and casts a Plane Shift, targetting the local border between the Prime and the Demiplane of Dream. The spell wraps about him, and with a violent intake of air, he vanishes!

Deep within the shared dream of Elona and Tarran, a black blot appears on the dreamscape, and from it, steps the dark-robed form of Seth. He calmly places the tuning fork back into his cloak, and, with an act of sheer will, transports himself to Tarran's side.

With a simple gesture, five scrolls are jerked from his robes, and begin to float in a slow orbit around his head, like ioun stones, but suspended by spectral hands. They contain some of the fiercest, most destructive death magics ever scribed by necromancer or death priest. Slowly, his gaze falls out into the void, in the direction of the voice, and he grasps two scrolls..."Dimensional Anchor" and "Planar Harpoon".

"Greetings, monster."
JasperDm

02-29-04, 04:19 PM
"Tarran. What I am about to do involves pinpoint accuracy and clinical timing. Do not falter in your course. If you are to bring conflict to this being...close with her and grapple. I will insure your success. If not, say so now, and I wll disengage."
Lord Tarran

02-29-04, 06:45 PM
Tarran glares at the dream demon, ready to spring, he says:

Do nothing. Get ready outside of us. She will have demonic friends outside, which you will need to deal with while I fight here.

With that he springs forward at the creature.
Leenaria The Pixie

03-01-04, 01:02 AM
Elona stands back glaring at the woman then sees Seth and smiles.

The woman glares at Tarran then at Seth when he arrives. "I shall not leave!"

As he jumps toward her she gathers a fireball in her hands and launches it at him.

Outside of the dream world wait demons in the shadows of the trees. Their glowing red eyes waiting for the right moment to attack their prey.
JasperDm

03-01-04, 11:43 AM
"I beg to differ. My companions, prepare to awaken and join me."

Seth waits, and touches the spell scroll "Planar Harpoon". He points a bony finger at the creature, and the moment Tarran has got her grappled, casts the spell. A prismatic barbed spear of energy gouges itself into the creature, and as Seth opens his eyes once she begins to scream, he begins to fade back into the waking world. Strangely, as he does, the dream fiend seems almost jerked across the border into the Prime, as if some invisible cord has attached her to the necromancer!

Seth appears, standing on the wagon, and floating there, as in the dream, are the rest of his scrolls, and as she appears, he is just finishing the words of the "Dimensional Anchor" spell.

"Not only are you here, you will not be leaving for some time."
Lord Tarran

03-01-04, 09:48 PM
Tarran awakes just as explosively, blasting outward with a blue bubble, warding of the demons for now. He turns to look at the dream demon, to see what she is in the prime.
JasperDm

03-02-04, 04:39 PM
Seth turns his gaze upon the foe, not frantic, like Tarran. IN fact, his calm is eerie, if not completely disconcerting.

"This has become troublesome."

He raises his hands towards the fiend, and begins the gestures of Phantom Wounds...but strangely, the limiting sigils are nowhere to be seen. Without those sigils, a spell is not restrained to a certain degree of power. The stronger the caster, the more complicated the invocation, the more power to the spell. The spell begins to form in his hands, as green words of eldritch power begin forming in thin air around him...and from his thin lips comes a whisper...

"...phantom...wounds...limit...breaker..."
Leenaria The Pixie

03-03-04, 09:58 PM
As the demoness leaves Elona, Elona stays asleep, her body slightly limp and her dream ends leaving her to look at darkness while she sleeps.

The demoness looks at the two in her form, she appears to be a shadow with wings. The smell emitting from her body is like that of a rotting corpse and maggots squirm around the ground she steps on.

"Dare you look upon me with such eyes? Can your stomach handle such smells that would cause any to retch upon their shoes?"
JasperDm

03-04-04, 01:05 AM
Seth seems utterly nonplussed, but for those who associate with the rotting dead, and foul ghasts, this stench is nothing more than a remembrance of home.

"Creature, you are nothing more than a phantom, stranded in a land which will not support you. Your vaunted stench and appearance is as nothing to me. You face one of the Dustmen, and his companions. Before I send you to wallow in the next horrid incarnation you will inhabit, I give you one chance to spew out your foul nature, and reveal who has sent you against Elona. Though know, you have attacked my friends, and the Dead Truce has no haven for you. You are going to die, do so with your master's name on your lips."

Seth holds the black and green flickering rune towards her, ready to rend her asunder.

(30d6 non-elemental damage, and 1d4 wounds incoming)
Lord Tarran

03-04-04, 04:06 PM
Though Tarran's keen nose detects the awful stench, he laughs internnally, seeing how it does nothing. THe looks, he had seen worse. He prepares for Seth to loose the spell before leaping, instead spending the time to reinforce the shield.

The demoness frowns seeing Seth's intent on killing her, but a slight smirk crosses her face as she realizes something.

She summons a wall of blades (or something like that... I don't have any of the books with me to tell you what it is right now.)

Elona continues to lay where she was left, her body still alive, but her mind blank and full of darkness.

"So be it."

He gestures, and the runes disappear, only to be forgotten as wounds begin ripping open across the flesh of the demoness, every cut, tear, or nick she had ever experienced before reopening into fresh, jagged bleeding wounds...her body tries to resist, to clot, to fight back, her spell resistance staggering against a necromantic onslaught that even Elminster could not muster. Seth maintains his concentration, finishing the spell, keeping the pulse of magic strong despite her struggling resistance. As he watches her stagger from the pain, he looks aside to Tarran.

"Be ready, she surely can bypass that wall as if it were mere mist and shadow. Empower yourself to melee, I shall fell that blade barrier."

(30+1d20 to beat her SR, Fort DC of 19 to half the damage and clot the 1d4 bleeding wounds)
Lord Tarran

03-09-04, 09:02 PM
The great wolf nods, his armor coming to the fore, as he begins glowing in the three aura's Elona had seen long ago. During this time, he reached into Elona, searching for his lost charge, and somewhere deep in that furry shell, his ... no mustn't think of that now! He searches her mind, trying to find her spark, to awaken her. But he stays ready for Seth to give him the signal to charge. He calls into Elona's mind:

My dear! Where are you! Can you hear me? Come to the sound of my voice!
Leenaria The Pixie

03-09-04, 09:11 PM
The demoness hisses a few curses beneath her breath, her rage building up with each passing second. Her eyes looking upward and she spits out two words, "Raining Fire!"

Elona's body tenses at the words of Tarran as in recognition of him. Her mind seeking the strength to go toward the voice, her own voice trying to call out to him but not finding any strength to do so.
JasperDm

03-09-04, 10:05 PM
"Damnit! Otiluke's Dispelling Screen!"

Seth's hands gesture quickly, and the shout is followed by muttered, rushed words of power, as a transparent wall appears in midair over the wagon, more of a lens than anything meant to support weight, and as the spell of the demoness forms, so does the defensive barrier, a wall of pure dispelling magic, ready to tear apart any spell that hits it, protecting Elona and Seth on the wagon.

Once the spell flickers into shape, Seth turns, and jerking his head around, he blinks once, as the Raining Fire begins to pound down, he prays to the True Death the dispelling barrier holds, and his hands move to drop the blade barrier that keeps this fiend safe from Tarran's claws...

(Any spell besides his own that passes that wall, a hemisphere over the wagon, takes a 15+1d20 Dispel Magic effect...it will last a minute and a half.)
Lord Tarran

03-14-04, 09:37 PM
Tarran continues to try and find the Elona spirit within the body, calling out with intensity, while his body prepares to leap, as soon as the barrier drops. Tarran calls into her mind:

Elona, come to my voice. Come to the light. It's Tarran. Come back to the waking, come back to me, so that we may fight this demon.
Leenaria The Pixie

03-14-04, 09:42 PM
The demoness watches Seth with amusement and a hint of rage burning behind her eyes, almost waiting for him to attack her. She watches him for a moment and then begins to whisper words inaudible to those who aren't standing right beside her.

Elona hears his voice still trying to call out to him and this time manages a small whimpering sound but that is all.
Lord Tarran

03-14-04, 09:46 PM
The small whimper, even in dream state, is enough to call Tarran. He "runs" to the noise, trying to reach her.

((He will, unless the demon can beat a psion of 30th level, who specializes in dreams and inner mind experiences))
Leenaria The Pixie

03-14-04, 09:51 PM
When he reaches her she is cuddled up in a corner of what looks like a white room, though one wall is missing... which is where he walks up to her at.
Lord Tarran

03-14-04, 09:54 PM
He trys to pick her up, and cradle her in his arms. As he does, he whispers soft words, and changes his aura to one of warmth and love. He says:

Let me take you away from here. We will deal with your true problems when the demon is dead.
Leenaria The Pixie

03-14-04, 09:57 PM
She looks up at Tarran, her eyes empty like they have no recognition of who or where she is nor of who he is.
Lord Tarran

03-14-04, 10:00 PM
Tarran groans, knowing he should have recognized the white room of memory erase. He first removes her from the room, before starting a spell to reinstill her in her body. As the spell begins to take hold, he starts a spell of memory restoration, blasting through the locks that the demon placed to try and keep one combatant down. By the time the first spell had taken effect, her memory would be restored, and Tarran fully in his own body. Soon after that, Elona should wake.
Leenaria The Pixie

03-14-04, 10:03 PM
After the spells did their magic on her, her body begins to stir and her eyes open. With a groan she sits up and looks around wondering how long she had been sleeping. Quickly she starts to look around for Tarran hoping he had not left her while she slept.
JasperDm

03-14-04, 11:17 PM
(Damn, there must have been a serious flurry of activity!)

Seth looks back a moment, the mental activities lost on him, but he raises a hand, and focuses a Greater Dispelling upon the demoness' blade barrier, shattering her defenses and dropping the wall for Tarran to attack. As she reacts, he shouts, "Tarran! I cannot affect her defensive magics without releasing the Dimensional Anchor! Attack now, I shall counterspell her magicks!"
Lord Tarran

03-15-04, 09:36 PM
Tarran comes out of the psionic games, and full into his body. Trusting his magic resistance, and his innate immunities, he leaps, fangs seeking the throat of the demon.
Leenaria The Pixie

03-15-04, 09:48 PM
Elona looks around and sees Seth and the demoness, she lets out a sharp gasp seeing the woman. "I know this woman... why does she continue to haunt me?"
JasperDm

03-16-04, 03:54 AM
Seth's dark eyes narrow at the amount of effort he is having to put forth to keep the demoness in check, he begins to cast again, and he flings forth a Hold Monster at the thing, almost without serious effort, as he watches her, trying to determine what she is, and what her powers are, dredging the depths of his mind for memories that might match up to the current events.
Leenaria The Pixie

03-20-04, 08:09 PM
The demoness holds still by Seth's spell and stares evily ahead of her. She waits while almost anticipating a spoken word from him.

She seems to be a succubi mixed with something else, perhaps a shadow monster.

Elona looks to Seth and then to Tarran, "We must hurry and not linger here to long, it is pertinant that we get the circlet as soon as possible."
JasperDm

03-20-04, 09:05 PM
Seth's voidlike eyes narrow, watching the "corrupted umbral succubus". His hands go up, readying the final blow, a casting of Finger of Death coming to mind, knowing his necromancy can punch through even the fiercest of spell resistance, if not her bodily resilience. He glares at her, reading her face, her expression...

"She's planning to counterspell me... somehow... Tarran, finish her off. I don't trust that look."
Lord Tarran

03-20-04, 10:03 PM
Tarran sinks his fangs into her, bringing True Death to the succubi. As the powers wash over him, he sees that indeed this creature was a Tanar'ri succubi, mixed with what felt like...no it couldn't be. Tarran says:

She had be planning something, felt somewhat like a disitegration spell. Her companions, I feel are retreating from our shields, probably to the Abyss to go see their mistress. I killed her with True Death however, and she will never rise again. Her blood, and her powers, taste funny however. She was obviously succubi a few generations ago, but she has been mixed with, well, I've only met one creature that felt like that, and I killed him.

He glances at the sky, somewhat distraught, as he says in a low whispers, barely audible,

Taatsael.
Leenaria The Pixie

03-22-04, 10:26 PM
The demoness cries out in pain from Tarran's attack at her. Not long after his bite her body explodes in a bright red light then followed by a loud sound which reminds one of glass shattering. Her loud ear peircing wail resounds around them before slowly fading away.

Elona crouches down in pain from the sound. She looks up, "She can't be dead, can she?"
Lord Tarran

03-22-04, 10:32 PM
Tarran glances at his charge, his own mind still swirling, but he says:

She is dead. Normally, when a creature of the outer realms dies on the prime, they return to their home. My teeth pull them fully into our world, making it that upon slaying, they are dead, just as if i stabbed them on their home plane with a sword. But that one tasted of something I had hoped never to see.
Leenaria The Pixie

03-22-04, 10:36 PM
She nods to Tarran after slowly letting go of her ears, "If you say so then I trust your judgement, I just want to leave here... we've been in the same spot for a while and that leaves us open for a lot of attacks on us again. Let us head off toward the mountain and find another spot to stop if we have to."
Lord Tarran

03-22-04, 10:40 PM
I wish we could. There are several demons that I want to deal with right outside a shield surrounding us. But it will have to wait til daylight.

He whistles, and all of his companion Verbeast, come closer to the wagon. They all sit, in vigilance. Rare takes human form, hops in the wagon, and begins to meditate, as if maintaing the shields.
Leenaria The Pixie

03-22-04, 10:46 PM
Elona walks toward the wagon and sits in the back waiting to get going again, "I will be here until its time to leave. I don't like being out in the open in front of all to see."
JasperDm

03-23-04, 06:07 AM
"The spell shall hold, but that thing is very dead. Once our foes' siege is broken, we will make haste for the mountain, as we are not far from our goal as it is. Tarran, I must rest and recover my spells, I am coming close to running out of scrolls, so I must keep myself at my best. Since you two seem to have slept well, I will take to my rest. Be watchful."

With that, Seth lowers his head, and pulls his hood over his eyes, and begins to sleep.
Leenaria The Pixie

03-25-04, 11:15 AM
Elona nods in Seth's direction and looks out around her before lowering her eyes and looks to Tarran. She half smiles then decides to go lean against the side of the wagon. Elona stands and then leans her back against the wagon while keeping a watchful eye out for any approaching danger.
Lord Tarran

03-25-04, 09:03 PM
As he has become acustom to, Tarran walks over, takes wolf form, and wraps himself around Elona, protecting her. He smiles in his way, glancing at her every few moments.

((OOC: If you don't mind me ask, Leenaria, what does the first bit of your sig mean?))
Leenaria The Pixie

03-26-04, 09:42 AM
Elona looks to Tarran with a bright smile, "Well, I wondered when you were going to come over here." She smiles and then looks straight ahead of her then turns back to him with a serious face, "Hopefully we won't have much trouble along the way, though I doubt it."

(ooc: Its just about some stuff I went through and now getting past and moving on. ;) )
Lord Tarran

03-26-04, 05:45 PM
The wolf smiles, and says:

Well, for now, or at least until morning, we will have no problems.

((OOC: oh, ok. ))
Leenaria The Pixie

03-27-04, 09:04 PM
Elona nods, "I am thankful for that Tarran, very much so." Her eyes look toward the direction they will be heading out when they leave, "I just want to hurry and leave..."
Lord Tarran

03-27-04, 09:09 PM
The wolfs smiles, closes his eyes, and snuggles a bit. He says:

That sounds like a wonderful idea. Rare will keep the wards til I wake. I doubt the demons will want to wait til morning. We all need a great deal of rest. I think your mind, for the frist time in a long time, will be clear, and happy. Rest now, Elona, dream of good things. I will be here just in case.
Leenaria The Pixie

03-27-04, 09:12 PM
She looks at him with a warm smile, "No, I will not rest now. I have had enough for the time being, you may rest and I will find time during the trip. My mind is to anxious with us leaving out not to long from now."
JasperDm

04-02-04, 02:54 PM
Slowly, the life returns to Seth, and his hand slowly moves his hood back, gazing up into the sun. Libram slowly opens itself to his spells, and Seth rememorizes his most potent spell, the Limit Breaker Phantom Wounds, and a fresh casting of Memory of Pain. He retouches his control over his other spells, and begins his prayers, and looks over at the dead succubus, frustrated.

"I could have used that. My search continues."
Lord Tarran

04-09-04, 11:09 PM
((Just curious, are we gonna continue?))

Awaking, and seeing that Rare was still maintaining the shields, Tarran glances outside of them. Knowing his eyes wouldn't lie, he sees that no demons stayed the night. Waking Rare, and the rest of the nearby Ver, Tarran prepares his magic for the day.
JasperDm

04-11-04, 03:03 AM
They evacuated earlier, a few resisted, but your zooanthrope kinsmen cut them down. Are we ready to begin?
Lord Tarran

04-11-04, 12:37 PM
As soon as Elona wakes up, we will be.
