Welcome, ladies and gents, to the betting window of Sorcen's Baator! With the o.k. from Sorcen, I've established this gambling thread so that you people can make bets on the arena matches! The medium of exchange at present is HellSilver, tiny, spiky little coins best not touched by normal characters. Thus, they will be all handled here. The idea is that they are a specialized form of currency, only for betting, and maybe some other specific uses in the future.

Anyway, here's how the betting and banking will go (sorry if I'm too controlling, but I'm gonna try to make this easy for everyone to follow and easy for me to manage)
1) This is an in character portion of the arena. Put OOC posts in spoilers or parentheses, please.

O.K., that's the only real rule for posts. Here's how to start betting: First, have your character set up a HellSilver account with the banker. Then, if you so choose, post a bet. If you lose, the HellSilver is added to the winners account, or if you bet the House, you lose the cash, and it might go to the arena winner's account, provided s/he has one.

And, no betting on Training room matches, so that way we can keep the arena awesome. Thank you, that will be all.

You stand outside the arena, in a shoving crowd of demons and beasts. All of them are moving towards a small, barred window right next to the massive arena entrance. Finally, you manage to make your way to the window. "Ye'll want yerself and account, 'm assumin', zurr?" growls the tiefling behind the window. Past his chair is a small room, with a desk piled high with sharp, silver coins. On the other side is a hammoc, and in the back is a small window that looks into the arena.
"HEY! Whatcher lookin' at? Youse one a' them magic-users, ent ya? I've got me a 'volver fer magic-users, you take a step back, hear?".
Calming him down is simple enough, but it takes a moment or two to convince him not to shoot you.

Who's in the next arena match? I mean, I know there's already on going on, but that one is going a bit slow, isn't it? :D

I'll see if I can get my charecter over here sometime to set up an acount, it would be fun to bet on the tournament.

A medium-sized silver dragon with the dispropotionate measures of young age come sauntering up to the booth whistling an innocent tune. As the revolver is thrust before her eyes, she replies

"Come now, prove to me that you have some brains. Do I really look old enough to manipulate that kind of energy? Put that thing away."

As the gun is lowered she states her buisness

"I'm here to open an account for lord Doran. I understand there is to be some betting on the battles down below."
LostMage

K'Teeb lowers the revolver slowly, and stuffs it under the counter, out of site, but not without a noticable twitch.
"Any 'un could run around using magications, ye'll learn that soon 'nuff. But aye, thers bettin' on the toruney. Yer lord Dorin'll be havin' 'is account quick, hurr."
The former pirate walks over to his desk, and pulls out a handful of spiky metal coins, seemingly ignoring their barbs. Fetching a wooden box from under his desk, he scrawls a few words in Undercommon on it, and begins to count out the coins. "Two, four six, eight..."
Alright, that should be all set. Thanks!

Oops, my bad. Charecter name was Doran (with an A), I've fixed this. This request is going to seem a little wierd, but this is Nimbrixion talking, and shes a little fed up at the moment:devil: her plan to lose all of Doran's money in one fell swoop before he gets back; although I'm biased towards hoping that I win soo...

"Right then, I've been authorized to place it all, every hellsilver, on that misshapen one down there."

She points down through the prison window to Sevifor.

"Now, what was his name again?"

"Aye, then, beastie. If ye know best. I'll take it tha' yer bettin agianst the house, are ye?" the tiefling grumbles. He then withdraws a small, worn notebook from his belt, and sets it on the counter. He opens it, and you can see for a moment that it is filled with surprisingly precise trade notes: "Silver, Month of Frostfell, 130 oz., alchemist fire, 60 bottles, soulgems, 1,900 gold bits wort...". The pirate flips through several pages of these notes, to a clean one, and carefully records the wager.

A swift little psudodragon flies down to the counter. "Hello, I am Enix. I'd like to open an account for Kurthix." The little dragon jumps impatiently. "I'm in a bit of a hurry."
LostMage

03-06-07, 07:17 PM
"Well, yer a wee one, ent ya?" K'Teeb growls. "Now, yer not a mage in disguise, eh? No, hurr?"
The pirate takes a long look at the little psuedo-dragon, and slowly and deliberately turns to count out the hell silvers.
"The yer go. Take yer time on the way back ta yer master, hear?"
NerdNumber1

03-06-07, 08:12 PM
"Master!" Enix yells. "Kurthix never uses that vile insult on me! I am treated as an equal and am may leave whenever I wish." The dragon grabs the coins and flies away.

Nimbrixion clambors up to the window and tilts her head to indicate the direction of the arena.

I do believe my competitor just won, add it to Doran's account until I can figure out what I want to do with it.

She leaves, wondering now that her initial fury is over whether or not she still really wants to lose all that money.

K'Teeb grunts once in acknowledgement to the creature, and deftly sorts out the proper amount of razor-sharp coins.

The coins he counts out fountain up into the air before falling neatly into stacks on the counter.

"Welcome!"

Coin pushes open the doors and walks up to the counter, waving a hand non-chalantly. A large pouch of gold materializes before him, and he lays it down with a thump.

"There you go. Should be about 1,000. I'm in!"

With that, he turns and walks out to find the elusive Shaman he searches for.
LostMage

03-23-07, 10:48 PM
K'Teeb twitches noticiably at Coin's magic, and grabs the pouch of gold. Withdrawing a piece, he bites it clean in two. "Blasted magicators, hurr." He eyes the sorted coins warily, as if afraid they may bite him. Overcoming his superstiotion, he then scoops them into the proper container, and counts out another amount of spiked hellsilvers for the man whose name is on the pouch - Coin.

Looking out the window, and behind him warily, K'Teeb quietly pockets the gold that Coin conjured.

Alrighty then, Coin's account'll be set in a moment.

There is a blur in front of the betting window, and a bag is left on the sill with a note attached.

"Dear Creepy Gambling Guy,

This account is in the name of Brisinaria Ragefang, who will be placing five hundred of its thousand on one Diedre Shadowsoul. I'm afraid I couldn't stop to chat - I don't want to miss this fight."
LostMage

04-21-07, 09:58 PM
K'Teeb falls off his stool as the pouch appears. He takes some salt from his pocket, sprinkles a circle of it around the pouch, reads the note, then looks inside the pouch. He weighs the gems he finds, then pockets them: he's no intention of telling anyone they don't need to pay for hellsilvers if they don't ask.

A familiar sight comes walking into the edge of K'teeb's view. Nimbrixion, the silver wyrmling moves at a brisk walk toward the betting window. She seems to be favoring her left side just a little, and there is a small spot where a scale fell off, a mark of her run-in with Kovalistraz.

Hello again, I figure I'll let you keep your money this time, so I'm going to be placing two bets with the next two people who come by the window, four hundred hellsilvers each on the same person, whichever gets offered first I guess, though I've heard good things about that Diedre on the way here, overheard that she's running the show, a good sign. Perhaps I can get a bet where we each pick two of the four combatants to represent ourselves. Just hope they dont start the main event without me.

04-22-07, 10:09 PM
K'Teeb scrathes his head, and you swear you hear synapses sizzling as he tries to sort out the dragon's request.

So, you'll be placing a bet with on the opponent of whomever happens to bet on first, and the second bet on the same, with the house if they're betting on the same person?

04-22-07, 10:17 PM
Giovanni strides up to Nimbrixion.

"I'll take that bet. Four hundred says Lyra wins."

He takes out a puch of coins and jangles it before setting it down before K'Teeb.

Sorcen floats over to K'Teeb's window and patiently waits until the ones before him finish their transactions. When he reaches the window he pulls out a small bag of Hellsilvers and hands then to K'Teeb with a smile. "Here you are, I bet 300 Hellsilvers on Lyra Argent. By the way your running a fine establishment here."
LostMage

04-22-07, 10:20 PM
K'Teeb shrugs, pockets the gold, and arranges the bet: "Note to self: Giovanni,400 hell. ag. Also, fools still think they need to pay for h. ag. Must hide goods form Master Anenooata-" he hastily snatches the book from the table, and suspiciously hides it in his shirt as soon as he sees Sorcen: "Hurr, uh, thank 'ee master Sorcen, I'll, ah, be placin yer bet, an...an... I an't rippen' the betters off, sir, good day to ye, an' all that!" he says, twitching incessantly.

Sorcen smiles knowingly and winks, "Ah I know your not. I wouldnt hire anyone dishonest and untrustworthy for such a financial position as yours." The voice of the archfiend rings in K'Teeb's head, Dont worry its safe to do that, just beware if you get caught.

The fiend's form shimmers as though the air around him had gotten extremely hot. He shimmers from view, leaving behind his usual fiendish smile which slowly fades from view. (Sorry I just loved the shimmering of the demons from Charmed and the Cheshire cat's grin thing.) He reappears at his throne and looks at Aya and returns his attention to the matches below.

Very well then, I'll take Diedre to win. I suppose if neither emerge victorious then we get to keep our money yes? Excellent.
Lord_Bahamut

04-22-07, 10:37 PM
"Agreed. May the best man, or woman, in this case, win. And may the best creature collect the money."

Giovanni spreads his wings and flies back to the bar.

I like that one, he seems awefully considerate, if a little too quick to fumble over his words.

She look a little over her shoulder so she can meet K'Teeb's eyes.

After hearing all the previous bets, I don't think I'll take that double bet after all. Even if the maximum bet is won by my fellows, that still puts their hellsilver account at 1500 hellsilvers. If I stay where I am and lose, I get to keep 1600 hellsilvers, and still be in the lead. I very much like being on top, so lets keep it that way for awhile shall we?

She turns around and proceeds to walk back to the tavern so she can get a comfortable spot by the window away from all the adverse arena effects. She stops a little ways out, as if she had forgotten something and then turns around and sits on her hauches, hlding up a paw with her index finger held upright; in a human, this would be seen as a "tsk, tsk" gesture, and she says

You're wrong to keep taking these people's money, and you should stop it immediately. I can attest to a love of treasure, but this is the wrong way to get it. But I won't go talking, I'll leave that call up to you.

When she finishes scolding the teller, she turns and walks off just as coolly as she came in.
Orshallen

04-23-07, 09:12 AM
With Orshallen occupied for the moment, a greasy, foul-looking little imp flutters up to the window in his stead. The imp peers around the currently unoccupied window, then notices its staffer reclining in a hammock and counting the contents of what looks like a bag of gold.

"Mortal!" it calls out. "Get your lazy ass to the window! I am here to open an account for the contestant Orshallen, and to place a 300 hellsilver bet on the contestant Lyra Argent, against the house!"
LostMage

04-23-07, 06:41 PM
"Why ya little critter, I'd put yer 'ead on a toothpick if Master Sorcen'd let me!" K'Teeb glares at the imp, then counts out the hell silvers for Orshallen, and writes himself anther note: Orshallen, hag 300 v. house. Note to self: watch silver dragons, also, sharpen some toothpicks.
Orshallen

04-23-07, 08:16 PM
"Like a stupid, clumsy mortal like you could even come close!" the imp retorts, while quickly scrabbling the remaining hellsilvers into a leather bag. "I'll rip out your heart and feast on your soul before you even got closeeeeeEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!"

The imp's boasts turn into a terrified wail as the magic sustaining it drags it back to its master. Before K'Teeb's eyes the imp dissolves into nothingness despite its frantic attempts to hold onto anything solid - the barred window, the sill, and even K'Teeb himself.

Ziel walked up to the window "I'll open an account here, the first bet will be 500 on Loex in the battle between Loex and Alkuth"
He made a few moves with his hand, and a big blood red gem appeared on the desk. The gem seemed to light with a pulsing light
"you're right, this isn't a normal gem, it's a soulstone with the soul of a demigod inside. Its a gift to Sorcen, but he seems to be buisy right now, so when he happens to be in contact with the finances again, see to it that he gets it. Your fee for the service."
He conjure up three fist-sized diamonds.
"And be aware that if you do not deliver this to Sorcen, your soul will be the next one to reside in a soulstone in my possession."
LostMage

05-06-07, 03:37 PM
K'Teeb hefts the ruby expertly, and raises an eyebrow. "I dun' have a soul ter take, yer lordship, so ye'll 'ave - " K'Teeb's speech is cut short as he sees the three diamonds clatter to the counter. "Hurr, I'll see this ruby makes it ter Sorcen awright, I'll open yer 'count post haste!"

K'Teeb suspiciously pockets the diamonds, along with the other treasures the gamblers have been 'giving' him, and quickly begins to count out Ziel's account. Pulling out his notebook, he writes: Ziel, bets house on Loex. Note to self: find soul, hide it from arena goers in future.

Ziel begins to take his leave, but meets Dragor and Dramuk on their way in.
Ziel greets them "I see you have arrived for this too, well best of luck to you and lets hope we don't end up fighting each other too soon."
Dragor reply "Greetings Ziel, yes we arrived saftly." Then he turn at K'Teeb "Open an account for me, Dragor, bets will be coming later." He pick something up from his pocket. "and give this to your boss." he toss an amulet at the counter, its shaped like a drop of blood. A rune is carved in it, showing that it belonged to the master of the 1st ring of baator in Soulforge. "and this to your self" He throw a knife at the counter getting stuck deep ((I persume that the counter is made of somehting that's not harder than granite)). Its a fine piece of art, the handle made of electrum and embedded with jewels, and the blade is made from adamantine.
Dramuk enter the conversation "Hi, you're right in that we should hope not to match you too soon. We know ho will win anyways. Hey bankier, open an account for Dramuk and place 200 on Alkuth vs. the house."

EDIT: all of them then left the betting window, chatting about the world they originate from.
