| Lord Tarran03-05-05, 02:50 PM | Deep in the Underdark, deep within Menzoberranzen, the dark city of the Drow, there is an inn. It is a three story building, not particularly amazing in any regards, but obviously an inn. Warm firelight pours from the windows, lighting the street ahead. Above the door is a sign, with the emblem of a of a iron gate, painted black. Inside the inn, behind a black marble bar, much like the Darkhole, is a man in his mid-twenties. His skin has some color to it, suprising in the Drow City, his eyes green, and his hair is brown. He dresses all in black, a symbol of Shar hanging from a chain around his neck. His name is Johnathan. He has no guests at the moment, though he is awaiting some. He has recieved word from his cousin Christopher closer to the surface, and is ready for the coming war. ((This is the more evil version of the Darkhole. Normal Darkhole rules apply, but now we have a city, and evil. Bwa Ha Ha ha ha! Just a note, Johnathan is known in the city, so you may play a character who is a regular to the inn. However, make sure that I have some idea about the character, so I can respond in turn. John is not a telepath like Chris, but the inn is enchanted to automatically tell John the name, favorite drink, first emotion, mentally. Yes, this power was given by John's mother, Shar. Note: John is a work in progress. If I ever show an inconsitency in my writing of him, point it out, so that I can solidfy him. I'll post his levels sometime in the next few weeks.)) |
| Arcuna03-06-05, 06:24 PM | There is a faint flash of light from the center of the Inn, and a colorful orb appears (if you have played FFX or FFX-2, you could compare it to a pyrefly). It does not have a physical body; it is nothing more than a soul. The soul's name is Avernus. He does not need physical sustinence or sleep to survive, considering that he is nothing more than a soul that ascended past the need for a mortal body. Telepathically, he says, <Hello. My name is Avernus. I was wondering if you could tell me which gods plan to reside here during the upcoming war.> |
| Lord Tarran03-06-05, 09:50 PM | Only my mother plans to stay here personally. The other gods which shall use the city are unknown to me at the moment. I am awaiting a friendto return to tell me the others. John looks the soul over, eyes cold. I don't suppose I could provide you with a body to reside in while you're here. I have enough trouble attracting customers without a ghost thing scaring them off. The door opens with a creak, as several drow warriors enter. Johnathon makes his way around the room, saying hello and dropping drinks to their owners as he goes. As he returns to the counter, a small girl enters the inn. Her skin is very pale, her eyes very wide and very blue, her hair very long and very blond. Her image screams of innocence, but her prescences is unnerving. She makes her way unmaligned to the bar, where she leaps to sit on the counter nearly twice her height. The drow notice her, smile slightly, and return to their conversations. John places a hand on her shoulder, looking at the floating soul unnoticed by all but he and the girl. He's our newest guest, Eletia, sent fresh from Cousin Christopher. Play nice for now, my pet, we can't bother offending my cousin until after Asmodeus is put back in his place. Did you deliver the message to Baern? She looked at him innocently, a hint of malice passing over her eyes as she spoke in a voice similar to her expression. Yes, Johnathan. Your message has been delivered. The Matron says that as soon as Lolth and the other drow deities respond to her queries, she will send you a list. Will your mother be arriving soon? John looks up for a moment, thinking far away before he responds. Yes Ele, I believe she will be. |
| Taeldrin Laesrash03-07-05, 09:44 AM | Slowly, the tavern door opens, and a figure walks in. It is a drow. Before anyone notices, the drow dashes into a corner. Several wierd noises erupt from the corner, and a completely different figure walks out. An elf, clad in a cloak of fine cloth like material, under which is a scarlet vest. He sighs, and walks over to the counter. "I may be a surface elf, but please don't rat me out. I swear I'll cooperate. What I really came for is that I heard that this is the site of a holy war. Gods will be here to fight, because of Asmodeus. Have I missed anything?" (This another character of mine. Kito will still be active at the Darkhole.) |
| Lord Tarran03-07-05, 04:14 PM | What reasons do I have to not 'rat you out'? The head of a surface elf found within the city would make me more gold than I've made in all the years I've owned the inn. John's eyes gleam with malice, as he traces his hand over a knife he procurred from under the counter. And I have no reason to not allow my drow friends over in the corner to not take your life. What can you offer me that I might want. Eletia looks at him with a slightly hungry look. She whispers gleefully, What about a piece of his soul, and all gold? Or how part of his soul, and servitude to you? John smiles at the idea, but says nothing. |
| Taeldrin Laesrash03-07-05, 07:42 PM | Tealdrin turns to Eletia. His voice carries a commanding air, but with an underlying terror. "Twisted, aren't you? Well, I don't see use in killing someone with years upon years of plane-traveling. I've magic up my fingers of which the gods tremble at. And if you want to send your friends over, I'll kill them. And..." He leans down at the counter, intently staring at John. "I myself have a few dietic claims." |
| Drizzt03-07-05, 08:19 PM | What appears to be a Drow opens the door of the inn and enters but the perceptive can see tiny horns poking up from his head and sharp pointed teeth show when he speaks( Tiefling-drow). He wears tight leather that forms his body and a black cloak. Johnathan knows this is Londo G'kar, A noble from the 6th house and master wizard and thief. He is a regular at the Gate and takes the faerun equivalent of scotch. He is usaully a angry and hateful man but today he seeems cheerful and Johnathan's spell shows him that Londo is in fact happy today. " Hey Johnathan, little El, My usaul drink please" Johnathan notices that the usaul curt and abnoxious tone and his rude attitude seem to be gone, hes even been polite." I finally figured it out and it was so simple". Johnathan knows that Londo is talking about a alchemical experiment he has been trying to perfect for a while. Londo walks over and sits on the bar stool. " All I needed was some salt, that was all, simple,eh". He looks around the bar and stops on the light elf, having not noticed him. It takes him a moment to process what hes looking at and then turns to Johnathan. "you know theres light scum in your establishment right John?".( Johnathan if john is not acceptable) Londo leans over the counter and whispers " you've been good to me John and while I have made many friends enemies, you've stayed true but...a light elf, I don't know; I will stand by you if you want to keep the...thing but..." Londo trails off there and sits back down, waiting to see what Johnathan is going to do. |
| Lord Tarran03-07-05, 09:38 PM | Pouring the drink for Londo, John and Ele glance over to him. Ele says simply: We were actually trying to decide whether or not to keep him, Uncle Londo. I want his soul, well at least a peace. He's been trying to threaten us into backing down, even threatening the Troupe of Spider Slayers over there, which would be very bad for his health, even if he managed to slay all of them. He seems to think that his magic scares the gods. John laughs softly, and Ele giggles. Faster than lightning, she reachs up and holds Taeldrin close to her face, as she says: We are gods, you fool, and you're not that intimidating. I suggest you think quickly of what you have to offer us, before I take your soul by force. She lets go of him, no harm done, except for possibly the fear of feeling a young, innocent girl have a grasp that put golems to shame. ((Sorry, if I violated FoD there, but I needed to for the effect. Hope you don't mind Taeldrin?)) |
| Arcuna03-07-05, 10:20 PM | Avernus watches the commotion silently. He has seen worse fights before, but he is not stupid enough to get involved in something that isn't his business. Furthermore, it might be fun to watch a disguised god kill someone simply because she got ticked off. He responds to John telepathically, <I suppose that I could inhabit a body for a while. Shall I go and find the first person I can, or do you have someone in mind?> |
| Drizzt03-07-05, 10:31 PM | Londo smiles content seeing the little girl pick up the light elf and putting him in his place. " I see you have things handled, but you know you could sell him to one houses fora pretty good price." he eyes the light elf as he says this" I hear the matron of house Baenre has been running low on torture victims and a light elf could fetch a price over there." Londo laughs as he says this. he takes a long gulp of his drink and looks back at John. " so the question is, do you want to make a gold off of this or have Ele take his soul, they both sound good to me". |
| Lord Tarran03-07-05, 10:46 PM | I'm honestly not sure Londo. I'm waiting to see if he has anything to offer me. Though I know Ele won't stop until she has a little taste of his soul. John smiles evilly. He looks over to Avernus You may take anyone you find, though not within this inn, or on the way to this inn. I have to respect my patrons. Anyone whose never been here however is fair game. ((Night y'all)) |
| Drizzt03-07-05, 10:56 PM | " hmm, I don't know what a light elf could offer anyone but, it is your inn." He shrug and went on." But I have perfected the serum, my friend, It is the most potent I have ever made. Imagine though, just a pinch of salt to keep the victim concious, the pain of a thousand stinging bees and the burning of a dragons fires spreading through the body and now they don't pass out" Londo Laughs Maniacally, it also seems that he just might go over the edge but brings himself back and says. " The houses will pay for this little commodity and it doesn't kill them. Great isn't it". he smiles as he thinks of his new concoction. (night) |
| Arcuna03-07-05, 11:32 PM | You get the feeling that Avernus would be smiling, had he a face. <Understood. Don't touch anyone who has business with this Inn. I'll be back shortly.> Avernus leaves the Inn. Less than five minutes later, a young drow female with two sheathed daggers enters the Inn. She smiles to John. He determines that the woman's name is G’eldriina Hunneld, and that her body is harboring Avernus inside of it, in addtition to her own soul. She sits down at the bar across from John. How's this? ((Good night.)) |
| Taeldrin Laesrash03-08-05, 09:47 AM | Taeldrin is now fuming with indignance. He pulls out a longsword. It is completely made of a purplish obsidean material, with three prongs at the hilt. "Gods, eh? Well, so am I." Taeldrin closes his eyes. In a small flash of light, he becomes a drow. Walking over to a side wall, he waves his hands in several odd motions. A small table comes out of nowhere, with a glass of wine on it. He sits down, his sword still out, his eyes fixed intently on the small girl. |
| Lord Tarran03-08-05, 03:41 PM | See, silly man, thinks he's a god. Tee hee! What a fool, what an utter, utter fool. What should we do, John? Ele's eyes flash with malice and hunger. John looks thoughtful, as he comes to a decision. Well, Ele, I'd say teach him a lesson, but he's so obviously completely harmless, I don't see the reason. But, I'll back you if you wish, pet. Johnathon watches as Ele approaches without another word to the table at which Taeldrin sits. She places her hands on it, her eyes, though still innocent, filled with promises of torment, suffering, and the signs of utter evil. Suddenly, the table breaks in half, as the glass of wine shatters where it stood. We've asked you quite politely to tell us what you have to offer, elf. Now please, quickly, offer up what you have. I really don't want to bother taking the effort of forcifully ripping your soul from your body and depositing your shell to the Drow Matron Mothers. |
| Taeldrin Laesrash03-08-05, 06:29 PM | "If you really want to know, fine. I am a demigod. My domains of influence are two things: Spell creation, and," His body starts to melt down, and forms an extremely precise replica of Jonathan. "And charades and tricks. If you do indeed want me, and not to take my soul, sell it to your god, and give my shriveled body to some noble as a trophy, then I will give you dozens upon dozens of my own spells, and that many techniques to con and confuse. But, in all honesty, if you don't want me, I'll be happy to leave, a say that this never happened. Now then, where was I?" He waved his hand. Another table and winebottle popped out of nowhere. |
| Lord Tarran03-08-05, 07:02 PM | Those spells might be able to appease Johnathon, if he is able to use them, and I'll settle for nothing more than a shred of your soul. The evil is apparent in her eyes now, the facade of innoncence thrown away. Her voice is older now, and a great deal more evil. You see, my guardian is a Shadow Weave User, and a mighty one at that. However, the use of his mother's creation makes it difficult to use Mystra's Weave. I hope that you can find some way to change that. I merely want a portion of your soul. You won't even miss it. Otherwise, my elven friend, demi-god or no, we are going to come to blows. ((You understand that this is IC only right?)) |
| turalisj03-08-05, 07:04 PM | the door opens silnetly and a strange creature walks in. his, atleast you think it is a he, looks like it is made of mithril. a large blade and a shield is strapped to his back. one of his eyes glow red, the other a deep blue. on his forehead is a arcane sigil, closer inspection reveals is as a worn out symbol of correllen, though carefully disguised. "i am zygax, master of the katana. do you have anything for constructs? mybe some moondrop." |
| Lord Tarran03-08-05, 07:11 PM | I may, golem, but I wish to know first why the is a symbol of Correllon Larethian on your head. Johnathon smiles softly, blessing the interesting luck of having two enemies of the Drow enter his inn. Your body and magic could fetch me a hefty price from the Matron Mothers. ((Quick note on Johnathon. Though I have yet to work out his levels yet, he will be a rogue/shadow weave wizsorc/cleric. His alignment is NE.)) |
| Arcuna03-08-05, 07:25 PM | And I wouldn't mind a new set of mithril daggers. G’eldriina smiles eagerly. |
| turalisj03-08-05, 07:58 PM | I may, golem, but I wish to know first why the is a symbol of Correllon Larethian on your head. His alignment is NE.)) i was built by these elves that inhabit this city long before they turned on everyone. i have dedicated all of my 600,000 years of my life to wiping them out. they cannot see me though. if you dare harm me, you will die quickly. the so called matron mothers are nothing more than fools who would rather see thier kin die than fight fairly. my blade has seen a great many of them fall. there are also many of my allies spread through this city. killing me will mean the death of the drow. i no longer serve any diety, not even correllen, who breathed life into my shell those thousands of years ago. now, i suggest you just ignore seeing that symbol. for the good of all. |
| turalisj03-08-05, 08:04 PM | And I wouldn't mind a new set of mithril daggers. G’eldriina smiles eagerly. the warforged whips around towards g'eldriina. his mismatched eyes glowing. do you wish death! if so then try me. do you think i have not faced threats before? i have seen the rise and fall of several lich-queens, the rebellion of the gith, and the betrayel of the drow. i have felt my very mind ripped from my mind and thrown into the infinite plane of limbo. |
| Taeldrin Laesrash03-08-05, 08:21 PM | :banghead: |
| Lord Tarran03-08-05, 08:34 PM | ((Tura, don't have a fit, I'll deal with this. Oh boy, I was hoping I would never have to give this speech. Ava is so much better at it than me. Taeldrin. You just broke the single most sacred rule of this board. Freedom of Destiny. You may NEVER under any circumstance say what another character does. This breaks the FoD law. Freedom of Destiny is the right for the player to always decide what happens. Your actions directly disregarded this. Now, since you are a newb, we will just pretend that that never happened. I suggest that you edit and clear your last post and make a new one. But remember, no matter what, you may never decide for another player what happens, unless you have previous consent, or it doesn't actually do anything (such as when Ele grabbed you character, but could have just stood up and looked at him, it was dramatic, but didn't do anything). You are forgiven this once, but please don't make the mistake again, no matter what the circumstance.)) Johnathon turns to the war forged, eyes gleaming. I would suggest you refrain from making any enemies in this inn, construct. If you were made by a god's magic, another god's magic, a stronger god's magic, could easily take you apart. If what you say is true, there is no reason for me to hand you in. However, if what you say is a lie, I will slay thee, and if I fail, this city will slay thee, and if that fails, my mother will throw you off into the Far Plane. |
| turalisj03-08-05, 08:49 PM | all i did was ask for a drink, and i get threatend.no wonder this place is nearly empty. |
| Arcuna03-08-05, 10:14 PM | I understand that you are very old, but there is more to me than my appearance. I have lived to see more than one war among gods, and I have had my soul seperated from my body on more than one occasion. The most previous seperation was even voluntary. However, I do not wish to fight you; should your words hold truth, you will be of great use in the upcoming battle. But should your words hold lies, your death shall be most untimely, as already promised. But, for the time being, let us not quarrel. Another epic war is about to begin, and fighting amongst our own could cost us our lives. |
| turalisj03-08-05, 10:22 PM | well then, could i atleast get an answer to my question, do you have moondrop wine or not? |
| Drizzt03-08-05, 11:27 PM | " well, it seems that this inn is a beacon for enemies of the drow, my, my my". Londo stands up, walks over to the strange living construct and starts inspecting it. " I have never seen anything quite like this, a living contruct, even my most sincere attempts at such a feat, granted they were years ago, but as I recall the most success I came up with was a clay golem that paced my room". Londo turns to john and asks " do you really think this being could have done what you say? and 600,000 years, I remember my sister trying to scare me with tales of a mithril man but I never put any stock into it." Turning back to the golem, Londo asks " tell me how did wizards from so long ago create such a interesting creature such as yourself, please you must tell me of how one can create a living construct". He looks up at the creature expectantly. |
| turalisj03-08-05, 11:48 PM | bah, they didn't even have fireball created back then. no, correllen tricked boccob into making me. there was alot of alcohol used. of course, that was about the time that lolth was planning to over throw correllen......i suppose that would make sense on what had happend, now woulnd't it. oh, and do you atleast have a pure grain vodka? |
| Taeldrin Laesrash03-09-05, 10:17 AM | "I dunno...Why would Boccob trick Corellan? That seems like a ridiculous claim. As for warring gods, I've seen it too. But really, the drow is right. If we fight with each other, we die. If you want peace here, all you need is one thing, which we lack: Absolutly no connection to the elves. I might atcually leave here soon. If you really are going to fight in this holy war, you might be better off somewhere else. The drow (and their gods) will kill you at first sight." |
| turalisj03-09-05, 05:28 PM | "I dunno...Why would Boccob trick Corellan? That seems like a ridiculous claim. As for warring gods, I've seen it too. But really, the drow is right. The drow (and their gods) will kill you at first sight." boccob didn't trick correllen, crrellon tricked boccob. anyways, can i please have my moondrop wine? i am getting really ticked off. |
| Taeldrin Laesrash03-09-05, 08:57 PM | "Fine, here's your bloody Moondrop whatsit." Taeldrin snaps his fingers, and a bottle materializes on a nearby table. "But really, tell us all. How did the noble Correlan Larethian, god of the elves, trick Boccob, the wise diety of Magic into making a warforged? Furthurmore, how did you get here, in a drow city, without being killed or whatever happens to constructs when they take alot of pain? Seriously, we'd all love to hear." |
| Drizzt03-10-05, 10:07 PM | " good questions, but I must ask you my lady, what epic war are you talking about?" Londo looks inquisitively at the young drow girl with the daggers." What epic war did you just mention?". |
| Arcuna03-10-05, 10:37 PM | The most recent one I was involved in, which took place several thousand years ago, was called the Xuyna Conquest. I doubt you've heard of it; it took place in a different realm, called Enorm. ((Enorm is my homebrew world that my D&D game takes place in)) Looking at it in retrospect, it was a rather silly war. In a certain prime material plane (there are more than one, you see), a series of gods created a powerful artifact called Xuyna. Xuyna contained amazing magics, and its sole purpose was to maintain the plane's balance while in high orbit over the surface. As was expected, some of the greedier gods got interested in it and attempted to steal it. Each of them quickly learned how big it was, and they realized that it wouldn't be so easy to steal something the size of a moon. They attempted to bend the planes themselves around Xuyna, so as to transport it quickly and easily. This led to unstability in many planes, and shifted around a good deal of denizens. Pretty soon, billions of tiny battles over territory broke out among the affected planes. Even the gods got involved. The war lasted for a couple hundred years. In the end, the supreme goddess of magic, Mar, destroyed Xuyna and did what she could to mend the planes. This obviously gave birth to many of her more formidable enemies, but seeing as she had brought temporary peace to the realm, they decided to "temporarily" cease their war. Things have been calm ever since, and Mar has gone into hiding. There are only a few mortals who even know of her existance. |
| Lord Tarran03-11-05, 06:27 PM | ((don't act like three year old god-moding monsters.)) Johnathon keeps quiet, watching as Eletia once again comes up next to the foolish elf mage. Tapping him on the shoulder, Ele's eyes blaze with the unhindered evil within her soul. Her voice, unlike earlier, is truly vile in nature now, causing even the drow, who looked up from their drinks to watch what was happening, to cringe. Dear Taeldrin, you failed to fuffill my request. That bit of your soul please... and some gift for my guardian. It would be horrible if I should have to give you over to the Matron Mothers as a pet. That would make me cry. Her eyes shine in the corruption boiling in her soul. Quickly elf, times a wasting. Don't try to convince me of no connections to the elves, the lie is written all over you, just like it is on the warforged. Johnathon smiles now, watching as Eletia goads the mage into a fight. How long was it since she had last been in combat, he wondered. Too long apparently. His smile broadens. She has no intention of keeping her word once Taeldrin fills her demands. |
| Taeldrin Laesrash03-11-05, 06:32 PM | "Argh! What do you want with me?!" Taeldrin jumps up, and draws out a longsword, seeming to be made from light obsidean. His tone is low, and slightly harsh. "I've alreday told you what I have. Epic spells, and tools of deception. If you don't want me, just let me go! I'll go somewhere else, and act as if this never happened. Just don't take my soul." |
| Lord Tarran03-11-05, 06:40 PM | You fail to understand silly man, I don't want your soul, only a small portion. And please, put away the pig sticker, or shall I take it from you? Eletia eyes are intent as she reaches to yank the sword, by the blade, away from Taeldrin. |
| Taeldrin Laesrash03-11-05, 09:51 PM | (Sigh, this isn't going to well. Can I just let Taeldrin go to the Darkhole, and I'll send another person in. Please?) Taeldrin is backing away slowly, with a look of sheer terror. He sheaths his blade, and raises his hands. "F-fine! I'll just go! Just leave me alone!" In a flash of light, Taeldrin disappears. But in his place is a slab of stone. |
| turalisj03-11-05, 10:25 PM | coming into the city isn't the funnest method, but i could manage it. i was trained in all manner of stealth and deception. i know nearly every trick a drow can think up. and i thank you for the wine, it has been a while since i have seen some. the fallen ones prefer ale mixed with spider venom, and i realy don't enjoy that kind of drink. zygax says as he snaps his fingers the wine floats in the air toawrds him. |
| Arcuna03-11-05, 11:04 PM | Noting the slab of stone, G'eldriina mumbles to herself, It might be better for us that he left. We have no use for people who are going to cause us enough toruble to keep us from getting any real work done. |
| Lord Tarran03-12-05, 12:44 AM | Eletia, highly angry that her prey ran away, began to smash to rock. Her small hands will have no trouble reducing the rock to nothing but dust. John turns to Avernus, in the drow's body. Nice choice, by the way. But I am inclined to agree. I have no use for trouble in this place. Which brings me back to Zygax. I need a token of good will, some proof, something, that can show me that you are not loyal to the surface. |
| Taeldrin Laesrash03-14-05, 10:28 PM | Slowly, the door opens. A chilling wind blows in, but the door is quickly shut. A small lizardlike humanoid walks in. He surveys the inn closely. The sight of a mithril golem drinking from a bottle and a small girl standing over some bits of rock gives him a small chuckle. He walks over to two drow in conversation. "Sorry to inturrupt, but I was wondering if you could get me a drink. This is a pub after all. If you wanted to know, my name's Cronir Veldsquar." (Is a kobold more welcome than an elf? This guy's an Urban Ranger of Loki.) |
| turalisj03-14-05, 10:38 PM | Eletia, highly angry that her prey ran away, began to smash to rock. Her small hands will have no trouble reducing the rock to nothing but dust. John turns to Avernus, in the drow's body. Nice choice, by the way. But I am inclined to agree. I have no use for trouble in this place. Which brings me back to Zygax. I need a token of good will, some proof, something, that can show me that you are not loyal to the surface. what token can be shown? i have not done anything more than incapacitate a few drow on my way to this tavern. besides, you wouldn't want to kill me, i have knowledge that could be the key to wiping out the illlithids. of course, they are preparing every warrior they have to attack. several drow outposts have fallen, and more are constantly under siege. if you ask any official they will, of course, deny it. but the illithids have come across an artifact that could destroy every living creature that is not thier own, the staff of penumbra. i wont say anymore for now though. i have already said more than would be needed. |
| Taeldrin Laesrash03-15-05, 10:16 AM | "That's your ridiculous claim for survival? The illithids may love conflict, but they're smarter than that. Now really, why? I'd love some mithril-tipped arrows. And the Staff of Prenumbra? Bah, I've heard better tales told by drunk dwarves." (Seriously though, Lord Tarran said, don't act like god-moding monsters.) |
| Lord Tarran03-16-05, 07:09 PM | John keeps a straight face, having informed the city of the illithid threat months ago. Eletia however, does not seem to care that she was aware. Dear, dear, Zygax. I think you fail to understand. Even with that information, what proof do you have that you are not loyal to the surface? Hmmm? The mind flayer threat has been present for years, and their current outreach is of no consequence. You may not be aware of it, but the gods are rounding up their minions in preparation for a grand war against the Hells themselves. The illithids are the last of our concerns. For all their genius, they are always put back in their place. Now, what can you offer John and I? ((Taeldrin, now is not the time for you to be saying that. Though the character is a good choice, by the way.)) |
| Arcuna03-16-05, 10:32 PM | The Annulus could do the same thing, and you don't hear people complaining about that. The Illithids are smart enough to know that they won't gain anything by attacking us right now, regardless of whether or not they really posess the Staff of Prenumbra. Our main priorities should focus more on the upcoming war. Zygax, you are obviouisly a powerful being, but what we are asking for is some form of proof that you aren't just going to turn around and stab us in the back. For all we know, you could be a spy sent to find a weak spot in this Inn's operations. Isn't there anything you can do to prove otherwise? |
| Drizzt03-18-05, 12:15 AM | Londo sat sipping his drink and watching the goings on, he finally pipes in saying "perhaps if he gives us the secret used in creating him, then we might let him live. hmmm?" Londo looks around the room for support of his idea" An army of him could come in handy in this war you say is coming, oh and you must fill me in after he is delt with John". Londo takes another sip of his drink as he awaits the creatures reply. despite the Kobolds entrance and comments Londo seems to ignore the small beings presence. |
| Taeldrin Laesrash03-19-05, 01:12 PM | Sigh, sorry. |
| Lord Tarran03-19-05, 01:25 PM | ((Please Taeldrin, don't overstep your bounds. I know you're new, but use some common sense. No one post, please, until Taeldrin fixes his post.)) |
| turalisj03-19-05, 02:31 PM | as i said, i have no way of showing you i am not loyal to the surface. as for mithril tipped arrows, the second a peice of metal breaks off from my body, it liquifies into molten metal. |
| Taeldrin Laesrash03-19-05, 02:38 PM | "No way? So if we went to sleep, we'd have no way of telling whether you'd kill us all? I refuse to believe that. And really, I don't give a thing for the arrows, I have plenty of my own." |
| turalisj03-19-05, 02:42 PM | i am not a drow, i don't kill someone while they are sleeping. i prefer using gas poisons. as he says this a vial drops out of his cloak and shatters, a lime green gas spreading. sorry about that, that was meant for somone else. he waves his hand and the smoke dissapears. |
| Drizzt03-21-05, 09:59 PM | " Hmm, your methods are...interesting" Londo says says looking distracted for a moment. He finishes his drink and glances out one of the windows, looking at Narbondel, the great spire that acts as the clock for the city and says hurriedly" I must be off now, John but I am going to send oliver here to see how this turns out". Londo then turns and nods farewell to Ele before leaving in the direction of Sorcere. John has heard only a few mentions of Londo's familiar Oliver, from what he has heard he knows it is a stark white raven that he captured from the above world on a excursion, He knows that the raven was black until Londo turned it white during a failed experiment attempting to give it infravision, Londo was eventually successful but the consiquences left the bird permanently white. John also knows that Londo rarely sends the bird anywhere because of the obvious give away of who its master is and so John has never actaully seen the bird. |
| Taeldrin Laesrash03-23-05, 09:41 AM | "I give up, I'll just have a drink." As he sips a flask of some small violet liquid, he muttered under his breath, but loud enough for everyone to hear. "Of course, I'll be leaving soon, to make sure that some people don't try to kill me." |
| Lord Tarran03-24-05, 08:43 PM | Eletia eyes the kobold hungrily, though she shakes her head, much preferring possibly taking a piece of the warforged. Suddenly, however, she crooks her ear, listening to footsteps coming down the lane. They are not drow footsteps, but some surface dwellers feet. Johnathon looked up, motioning for the drow warriors to scatter for a few moments. They file out as a human boy, a slave collar around his neck, comes into the tavern. John! Ele! Mother Baern sends her greetings. The human bows elegantly. Like Ele, he seems amazingly innocent, though it only is skin deep, if that. She says that Lady Lolth has answers your request to know what gods shall use the city as the base against the travails of Asmodeus. It appears that though the drow gods of course will use the city, those evil among the surface dwellers gods are more picky, and refuse to reveal to my matron who is coming. From the general guess, all shall be here, but there is to be no confirmation. Armies are beginning to be gated in, though. Bane, Cyric, and Malar's banners have been seen so far, though other smaller forces have appeared as well. Also, in other business, I require that Ele comes with me. Surface elves have somehow made their way into the city, and are slaying drow warrior without halting. Baern needs us as shockers. Ele looks pleadingly to John, who nods. She and the boy run quickly from the inn, as the drow warriors reenter. And so it begins... |
| Arcuna03-24-05, 08:56 PM | I dare those damned surface elves to come in here... |
| Taeldrin Laesrash03-24-05, 09:20 PM | "Elves? What in Niflheim would they be doing here? And right in the middle of divine intervention? Wait-Could they be tied? If the gods are evil, maybe they like the slaughter." |
| Lord Tarran03-24-05, 10:17 PM | I wouldn't worry about it. Ele is quite capable of taking any fool elf. Mordecai was aware that my darling was rather bored, and asked if she would like to enjoy the slaughter with him. The man laughed, polishing a glass. Placing on the rack, he came up over the counter. I'm sure that the two of them are quite covered in blood, and should be making their way back shortly. The entire building shakes as an explosion rocks the city. Two small forms are seen just outside the window, flying to a crash. Johnathon doesn't seem worried as he makes his way to outside the door. On the ground lay and Mordecai and Eletia, looking a little dazed. Ele stands, the malevolence in her eyes tripled. Johnathon asks, Are we quite done playing, pet? Ele laughs maniacally as all her fingers lengthen to claws, her teeth grow to fangs, and dark sigils trace over her body as she explodes towards the source of the explosion. Screams follow. Mordecai stands, blasted, but in good health. I think that Ele just needed a little carnage, how about you John? John shakes his head, somewhat worried. No, Mordecai, I believe she needs more than a little. She didn't spring into her full form, only what she needed to slaughter. We need to find her a true opponent. Presently, Ele returns, completely covered in the blood of the surface elves. Except for the gore, she has returned to her innocent appearance, entering the inn with a bounce to her step. John nods to Mordecai as he runs off to Baern, before following Ele into the inn, shutting the door behind him. He doesn't seem put off by the stench of red covering Ele, but instead pours a glass of water for his young friend. Neither speak. |
| Arcuna03-25-05, 12:57 AM | G'eldriina appears to dislike the stench coming off of Eletia. She hardly shows it, which gives the impression that, had she control of her own body, she would be much more disgusted, and Avernus is just having difficulty supressing the emotion. |
| Taeldrin Laesrash03-25-05, 09:37 AM | Cronir shows no attempt to cover his dislike. His hand bullets to his his nose, and his eyes are wide open in fear and awe. Still like this, he turns to Jonathan. "W-what happened? Is that girl some kind of weredemon?" |
| Lord Tarran03-25-05, 11:10 AM | Ele, go wash up. Jonathon watches as his charge runs up the stairs as a blur. He turns to the kobold then. No, Eletia is no weredemon. She is ... something more. As best as I can tell, she is evil incarnate. He laughs, shaking his head, as Ele came downstairs. Though all the blood was washed from her, it had stained her hair red. She seemes peeved at this fact as she leaps over the bannister, slamming into the floor hard, before sitting among the drow warrior patrons. |
| Arcuna03-25-05, 11:43 AM | Evil incarnate? G'eldriina whispers. And yet, you condescend to her! You treat her as your servant and refer to her as your pet! Don't you think that is a little dangerous? |
| Lord Tarran03-25-05, 01:31 PM | No, not really,The innkeeper smiles. Ele is younger than I am, and my mother is the source of evil in this world. No reason to be worried about lil' Ele. For all her darkness, she does hold a special place in her heart for me, as I for her. |
| Arcuna03-25-05, 02:05 PM | Nothing personal, but I think I'll just stay out of her way. So, what do you have to drink here? G'eldriina doesn't have much of a taste for alcohol, but I do. Perhaps it's an acquired taste. Have anything we could start her out on? |
| Lord Tarran03-25-05, 02:11 PM | I think a nice dwarven ale should get her into the alcohol, but mostly because it will knock her the hell of her feet. He laughs, instead pouring a glass of delicate drow wine. |
| Arcuna03-25-05, 02:32 PM | G'eldriina smiles. Sarcastically (but in a good mood, nonetheless), she says, Wouldn't that be fun? She takes a sip of the wine. A look of surprise covers her face. Wow. I knew taste was a physical thing and not a mental one, but I never had any idea how greatly it could differ from person to person. Don't get me wrong, it's good, but it sure tastes different in a first-timer's mouth. She hands John [the proper amount of gold to pay for the drink] and takes another drink. |
| Solmund03-25-05, 03:08 PM | the door opens and a strange creature walks in. his face, or what can be seen, looks feral. the rest of his body is covered by a cloak. "one spiderblood. now." he says to jonathan. a strange arcane sigil can be sen on his cloak. a number of scrolls are attached to his belt, giving hint to some arcane prowess. |
| Arcuna03-25-05, 03:11 PM | Foluss uriu inbalus natha myar tangi... She smiles and takes another drink. I think this stuff is growing on her. |
| Solmund03-25-05, 03:36 PM | "lu' foluss zhah aluin ulu inbal ninta ooble' harventh tir." the figure says, waiting for his drink. |
| Taeldrin Laesrash03-25-05, 03:40 PM | Cronir is still in major distress. He turns to Jonathan, shaking. "Evil incarnate? She could Hel in her place and start Ragnorak! I'm just a bit light-headed. Some of that wine please." ((What the heck are Arcuna and Solomund saying?)) |
| Arcuna03-25-05, 03:44 PM | G'eldriina can't help but smile again. ((You can use this translator (http://www.grey-company.org/Maerdyn/resources/translator) to figure out what we are saying. Basically, G'eldriina said "Someone's having a bad day..." and Solmund's character said "And someone is going to have their tongue cut off.")) |
| Solmund03-25-05, 04:45 PM | "waele ilythiiri h'ros tangis' kampi'un vel'bol udos ph' ezual. nindel lgoren." the creature says, laughing. "oh, and forgive me. i and saridth of the cliffwalker clan. i am here on strict orders from my commaner to keep an eye out for any suspicious individuals. of course, this place is a drow city, there is so much suspicioun you could climb it." |
| Arcuna03-25-05, 04:58 PM | I am G’eldriina Hunneld. I don't know what you have and have not seen in your line of work, but I think you will find this place to be very interesting. She takes another sip of her wine. John observes that she seems to be taking to it rather quickly. |
| Solmund03-25-05, 05:09 PM | "i work for my clan. my clan in turn is allied with this city. it is not my choice to be here though, my clan elder told me i must be here. i don't trust anyone in this city, no matter what race. and if i don't get my spiderblood you will see what kind of work i do." saridth said, reaching for a cruely twisted longsword. |
| Taeldrin Laesrash03-25-05, 06:16 PM | "Eh....Udos...xuat...ssinssrin...mal?" Cronir sips his drink, then gives up, speaking in the common tongue. "Forget it. Do you plan on staying long? Just to warn you, this placeattracts the, eh...Malign, you see." ((Thanks for the translator.)) |
| Solmund03-25-05, 06:23 PM | "seems to be the opposite, as that trail of blood shows." saridth said, nodding towards the blood trail going up the stairs. |
| Lord Tarran03-25-05, 11:32 PM | Johnathon calmly pours the spiderblood, waiting for the gold coin to hit the counter before handing it over. He polishes a glass, looking it over, as he threatens (though it doesn't sound like a threat.) Don't be rude Saridth. Ilharess Baern orn naut plynn valyrine ulu hawressae ulu l' m'thain dal l' Olath Ilhar phor. Nausbyr orn Usstan ja'hai l' hawressae. | Solmund03-26-05, 12:02 AM | (deleted, to be re-edited later) |
| Lord Tarran03-26-05, 12:56 AM | ((Did you bother to read the setting at all Solmund? Do so and then edit your post.)) |
| Taeldrin Laesrash03-30-05, 01:51 PM | It has been a short time, but Cronir has picked up some basic words of Drow and more, and can speak it fairly fluently. "Ji l' darthien doerrus, lu' Eletia lu' l' glennen elggen mina. Vel'bol huthin? Dal vel'bol dos inbal said ('zil al 'zil natha stath zanjuren), phraktos orn tlu ghil. Vel'bol t'yin?" He sips his wine, staring intently at the drow. "Vel'bol zhah nindol clan gil'ssrigghinn? Usstan neitar nym'uerus d' nomadic ilythiiri. Vel'bol valyrin d' buisness ph' dos ghil whol?" |
| Drizzt04-15-05, 12:22 PM | A stark white raven slowly descends through the city on it's way to its masters favorite tavern. He slowly glides to the right and begins his descent into a open window by the bar. As he enters he draws a few stares from the patron but lands on the shoulder of one that he thinks is John, one of his master's few friends. "Hello, are you John?" asks Oliver to the man who he landed on. " My master sent me to listen to the conversation here until he is finished with his..." The raven hesitates a moment before going on. "..business. do you happen to have a perch somewhere? and perhaps a bit of ale to sate my thirst? Londo will pay you when he returns if money is a concern". The bird looks over at the face of the person he is sitting on, awaiting his reply. |
| Lord Tarran04-15-05, 09:13 PM | I am John, Oliver. The innkeeper points to a bar poking out of the wall above the door heading upstairs. That would be a good perch, I believe. And that ale you asked for... A glass of good dark dwarf ale appears on the ledge. |
| Taeldrin Laesrash04-17-05, 09:26 PM | "Wonders cease to fail me. Oh wait, I've seen the 'Bird' act before. However, I think we have a bigger problem. If divine armies are penetrating the city, they'll be here any minute. Shouldn't we get ready?" ((I know this probably is unimportant to most people, but If anyone asks for his history, it might be. With the creation of my homebrew setting, Cronir has converted. He became a resident of the world of Sesor about an hour ago. Just thought it was important. This Asgardian Cronir is out of print, or at least he will be when he has a new adventure to attend.)) |
| Kir Morshea04-22-05, 03:16 AM | The door opens and two figures walk into the growing crowd. One is a tall human garbed in many ways as a wealthy drow merchant might be and the other definately a drow female but her features hidden by her hooded cloak. "inbau natha table lu' morfeth ol presentable whol uns'aa" The Human says to the female. She glides toword a table near the wall... The human then turns to John and inhales deeply. He pauses and than says "The dark mothers dark blessing upon you barkeep. I am known in these lands as Renor Barra. Could I obtain a a bottle of sil'iluuth ssinssrigg wine and your menu?" While awaiting a response he scans the other bar patrons with a intrigued yet passive look. The female has found a suitible table and cleared it, set the best looking chair of the lot near the wall and kneels down beside it facing the bar. |
| Arcuna04-22-05, 06:46 AM | G'eldriina watches the two uncomfortably, not sure what to make of them. They are obviously powerful, but what are their intentions? She finishes her glass of wine. |
| Taeldrin Laesrash04-22-05, 09:37 AM | "Hmmmm, humans." Cronir is in thought. "They should be easy to take down if they're troublesome. But how in the Abyss did they learn to speak the language here?" He notches his crossbow, and slides it into his hand, just in case. |
| Lord Tarran04-22-05, 05:07 PM | Johnathon is intrigued, as is Ele, watching from among her drow friends in the corner. A human, deep in the city, with a drow slave? The innkeeper fetches the wine, and a menu, placing them in front of the man, while giving Cronir a glare that could shatter steel. He turns to his guest, Tell me Renor, how did one such as you end up in your position? It is rare that we see a human in these parts, especially with a drow female in a subservient station. You are aware that this is the hub of Lady Lolth's worship, and that such lving could bring her wrath on you, correct? Despite his words, he smiles. There is no sacrifice he or Ele want this man to give, except for possible allegiance. Not that I care. My mother would gladly protect for what you have done. |
| Kir Morshea04-23-05, 01:34 AM | A mischievous grin slides across Renor Barra face. “Talent I suppose.” He draws from under his garment the traditional merchant neck purse. Attached to it are many small house insignias. At least 3 from Menzoberranzan, including House Baenre, 2 from Ched Nasad and perhaps another dozen from far flung drow cities. Renor Barra continues “ I suppose you could call me a facilitator. I deal in items both rare and mundane that beings ... need. Everyone has something they truly want. I am the one they come to when all avenues are exhausted or when it wouldn't be prudent to go through the normal channels, If you get my meaning. I have currently delivered my goods to an individul in your great city and am simply looking around for” His eys travel to G'eldriina, Ele and one of the Spider Slayers "... stock" He spills out a few gold coins and re-tucks the purse. The female rises and gracefully glides to his side. She reaches out and takes the bottle of wine and goblet provided. In doing so she ever so slightly is revealed to the barkeep. In that instant a new mystery falls upon him. It may have been the poor lighting or a trick of the eye but he could swear she wore the jewelry of a priestess of the Spider Queen! Renor Barra's voice suddenly breaks the moment. Looking at the menu he says “ Hmmm, I believe my pet will have the lichen bowl and a side of grubs. I'll have ...well anything you may recommend... as long as it is freshly killed and not soiled by flame.” |
| Taeldrin Laesrash04-23-05, 09:37 AM | Cronir snaps the arrow he loaded with a flick of his claw. "Point taken." He then turns to Renor. "I seem to have misjudged you. As of now, after your little rant, I am quite interested in these...wares. What's more, your connections with the houses are amazing (Something I should try). I suppose you even have the *cough* authority to have a slave from the house. I don't want to guess the, ah, politics nessecary to obtain said wares, but for the meantime, I have no reason to disrespect you." |
| Arcuna04-23-05, 12:54 PM | G'eldriina continues to silently watch. "I don't think I like that look," she thinks to herself as Renor glances at her. "I hope he doesn't intend to make me a slave like she is." She sits down in a chair near enough that they could comfortably carry a conversation, but not so close as to invade his personal space, let alone threaten it. Forgive me, but what exactly do you mean by "stock"? |
| Kir Morshea04-23-05, 05:40 PM | Renor pauses a moment, stares at G'eldriina inquisitively, and in a rather causal tone says “ Why my dear, simply anything could be stock. The planes are as varied and diverse as are the vices you find among them. Some crave the pleasures of the flesh, some seek one powerful artifact or another, some need a dagger put in their enemies back while others simply want an answer to that unanswerable question in their brain.” He closes his eyes and inhales deeply through his nostrils as near as she lets him. “Mmmmm, exquisite.” He relaxes back into the chair and continues “Pardon my rudeness, now where was I? Ah yes, stock. I can see in your eyes that you think me a common slaver, yes? Well that is true but also not. The slave trade is but a way to pay the bills and bribe the bureaucrats. I deal in far more than just that. Anything someone desires is what I hunt.” Again he leans toward G'eldriina with a mischievous smile “So tell me my sweet, What do YOU desire?” |
| Sidi04-23-05, 10:35 PM | The door opens, and a rather richly dressed human enters the inn. He goes up to the bar and, setting his staff against it, looks for the bartender. He notices a shot glass of Drow Spiderblood, and he smirks. "Half the reason I chose this location." He takes the glass, and downs it in a single gulp. OOC: Name is Sidi, drink is Drow Spiderblood, emotion is Anticipation, mentality is cautious yet ambitious. Is there anything else Jonathan's power can divine, such as if the person is meeting someone or not? EDIT: Adding to the same post to avoid double-posting. IC: After a few minutes, the human smirks as he hears something scratching across the floorboards toward him. He turns, and sees nothing. "Must you go to such lengths to conceal yourself?" A small, invisible hand tugs at his mantle. "Must you do the exact opposite? It's a wonder the bounties haven't been cashed tenfold by now." "My contracts keep me safe. They've all been marked with my seal, so the payment is sent to their greatest opponent should they break it." "I learned that after I got those souls from Y'gath. Great way to find traitors." "Only if they betray me first. On to business." "You need a contact with the Githzerai, but the Slaadi caught wind of the Githyanki bounty on your head. I can provide safe passage through the Limbo, for a... relatively small fee." The human shakes his head and pulls three gemstones out of a pouch, along with an unsigned contract. "Souls are hard to come by no matter who you are. I believe you will find everything is in order." The unseen hands grasped the document, then a sharp growl was heard. "Mortal cohorts? You? Why?" "As Y'gath has demonstrated, we don't know if your subordinates can be trusted. I want someone to cover my back who doesn't know about or value the bounties on my head." The voice hissed, then a thin line of spittle came out of nothing and flew out the window. "I'd refuse if I didn't know you were right. I trust that is why we are meeting at such an... insecure location?" "Exactly. Are we agreed then?" The invisible creature summoned a pen and began to sign, then offered it to the human. Instead, he snapped his fingers at the document. "Ganow." A simple mark appeared on the paper, seeming like a spiral set on fire. The human handed the invisible being the gems. "Three gems for escort and guide, plus whoever I hire among mortals, to a maximum of matching your numbers." "Correct. We move out in a week, at dawn of the launch site. Tell no one the launch sight unless you hire them, and only then the night before launch." The human nodded. "Now, unless imps enjoy the drink, I believe we are done here." He took the contract and stuck it in a pouch with several dozen others. The invisible being pocketed the stones. "I would like to know where you got the souls." "It's a remarkable system. The Illumians only want the head of the Githyanki. Demons and devils want souls. I figure, why not optimize a resource?" "What's remarkable is how you get the soul and the head." The human winked and started walking downstairs with his staff. "Tools of the trade, my friend, tools of the trade." |
| Lord Tarran04-26-05, 09:38 PM | John is intriuged by Renor's story, and decides to interrupt before the drow female could answer. My dear sir, I need to ask you a favor, before you continue your business with my guest here. Would you consider being taken underneath the wing of Shar, as a safety in this city of dark elves, as well as possibly a way I can contact you if needed? Your business would bring many patrons to my inn if you set up shop nearby here, and the protection of Shar would be a great need for a surface creature in this place. MEANWHILE: Ele has moved out from among her drow companions, stalking up quietly to beside Sidi. She has resumed her innocence act, and her red hair seems natural somehow. Whatchadoin'? She asks. |
| Arcuna04-26-05, 09:53 PM | Renor notices that he definitely has G'eldriina's attention. Unfortunately for him, though, she seems a little hesitant. As long as we have this upcoming battle to deal with, I'm afraid I will have to ask that we keep our business strictly to equipment. My daggers are pieces of shuu, and I would be grateful if you could craft me some custom ones. It would be preferable if they could be ghost-touched, and either corrosive or flaming. My daggers are kind of old, but they should be enchantable. Of course, I would pay you a good amount of gold, should you choose to accept. Interested? |
| Drizzt04-26-05, 11:26 PM | Oliver looks at the new comers and asesses them before flying to the perch and starts to sip the Ale. He looks up and says to John "This is delicious, some of the best I have ever had". He then turns to look at Renor, shakes his head and turns to Sidi, listening to his conversation and then asks " What business would you be in , my good sir?". |
| Kir Morshea04-27-05, 04:06 AM | Renor turns to the barkeep ((sorry, he still hasn’t been given names)) and bows his head in respectful acknowledgement “From the House Insignias you’ve seen you no doubt know I am in no danger in this land, however…” His face changes from inquisitive to dire seriousness. He continues in a tone more private in volume “You do verily reek of the Mistress of the Night and even one of my power and resources can appreciate alliances of that caliber. I am honored that you grant me that level of respect. Know that such an alliance would be one I would gladly have and reciprocate. As for reaching me, well that is easily enough taken care of.” Renor pulls from a pocket a pin mirroring a small obelisk engraved in runes with a small onyx gem at its zenith. He continues “Here, with this and any simple sending spell I can be reached anywhere on the planes. Very hard to come by these devices and I only give them to the best of potential… clients.” He turns back to G'eldriina, His inquisitive face returning “So sorry little one, now where were we? Ah yes, your need of new claws as it were. What you ask is but a trifle for someone in my business, not really your hearts desire now is it?" *sigh* "Well I guess every relationship starts somewhere now doesn’t it. I’ll fetch you what you wish easily enough but your gold holds little interest to me. I would find it a fair trade for something else though.” Long pause , Renor leans closer to G’eldriina “I can’t quite place your nature but I can tell you this. You are no more a simple back street cutthroat than the being at the bar is a simple tavern keeper.” Renor pulls back and looks to his companion. “Go to Vanlocks and see if he has something in stock that our new client may find useful my pet.” His companion rises and glares at G’eldriina as she exits the bar. |
| Lord Tarran05-17-05, 07:50 PM | John pulls the order together for Renor, taking and placing the charm away from the man, under the bar. Listening to the man's yell to his servant, John yells after her. Don't bother going to the shop, elf! Vanlock is out of the city for the next week, working in the gods' camps. Look around Bane and Cyric's camps for him. He turns back to Renor, whispering to the man before G'eldriina responds. My mother and I most humbly accept your alliance. |
| Arcuna05-17-05, 08:01 PM | The same goes for you, G'eldriina whispers, though you show it much more openly. As of now, I cannot tell you very much of my nature, but when the time is right, you shall know. Also, I can promise you that, when that time comes, I will pay you in the currency that you desire... ((It's times like these that playing a character of the opposite gender gets awkward... :P Oh well, that's all from me for tonight. I have lots of homework to do by tomorrow. But Summer's just around the corner!)) |
| Taeldrin Laesrash05-17-05, 08:38 PM | "Hmm. I know what you mean by a varied stock, I've a friend who's no stranger to planar travel. But if you're nevertheless going to Vanlock, or whoever, I wish you safety. There's no telling with beings like them, or their followers. By the way, if you really are as goods-loaded as you say, then I'd like to make purchases myself." The kobold moves his hand through a pocket in his vest for a minute or two. "I'm a bit short on components for some of my sorceries. If you could supply with components such as bits of an Anaxim, a few dragon fluids, and a celestial heart, I would pay you finely. |
| Kir Morshea05-24-05, 07:07 AM | The priestess nods to John and slips through the door Renor bows his head slightly and to John says " No, the gratitude is all on this side of the styx I assure you..." Returning his attention to G'eldriina, he chuckles "As you wish my mysterious minx, as you wish. " ((Ah, but what if he only wants you to THINK that is what he's interested in getting? Not everything is so pat, especially in this tavern. ;) )) Having been interrupted by the kobold he turns with a gracious smile and responds " I apologize but you misundersand. I'm not a merchant per se. I do deal in material items once in a while when necessary. Certainly I could recommend several people from whom you may obtain some or all the items you seek but I don't carry that sort around." He suddenly removes a small gem from a pocket in his cloak. The gem glows with a slight purple pulse. A smile comes across his face... "Ah, companies coming..." |
| Arcuna05-24-05, 05:26 PM | What...sort of company are you referring to? G'eldriina asks cautiously. ((Yeah, but still, she's seduced. That alone is awkward to play. :P )) |
| Taeldrin Laesrash05-24-05, 08:43 PM | "Hmm. I see. But what do you mean by 'companies'?" Cronir walks back to his table, disappointed. |
| Sidi05-27-05, 08:50 PM | Sidi smiles politely at the red-haired woman. "Oh, I was just on my way out. I was meeting an old friend to discuss some business matters. Knowing him, however, he's found some way to can me out of the sou- sapphires I paid him with." Looking around, he smiles slightly. "I guess I could stand to stick around for a drink, though." |
| Lord Tarran05-28-05, 10:28 AM | You were going to say souls, weren't you? Eletia giggles innocently. Don't worry, I traffic in them myself. |
| Sidi05-28-05, 02:57 PM | Sidi looks down in utter amazement. "Either you're older than you look, or you're a sorceror prodigy. Those are the only explanations for your statement I can think of." |
| Taeldrin Laesrash05-28-05, 06:34 PM | "She's evil incarnate." Cronir quickly hissess. |
| Sidi05-28-05, 06:56 PM | Sidi looks at Cronir, then back at the little girl. He then holds out his hand for a handshake. "Pleasure to meet you. I've always been a huge fan, personally." |
| Arcuna05-28-05, 08:58 PM | G'eldriina watches all of this in silence, apparently very discomforted by the idea of using souls as currency. The fact that Eletia is "evil incarnate" doesn't seem to faze her at all, however. |
| Lord Tarran05-29-05, 12:44 AM | Eletia accepts the hand, shaking it mightily. Her grip is strong, very strong, as if she squeezed any harder, the hand would turn to dust. She lets go, smiling vicously. Well, I wouldn't say I'm evil incarnate, that give me too much credit. However, mayhem, destruction, wanton violence, and treachery incarnate would be closer to truth. She glances at G'eldriina, then back to Sidi. I need souls to maintain my health, and my supplies are running low. The best of souls are those I rip from unwilling victims, but such a large, evil, depraved city is at an actual lack of unwilling, or untaken, souls. I'm sure you saw the blood in the central square on your way in? That was three idiot surface elves who made their way into the center city. They were strong... would you prefer a demonstration? |
| Sidi05-29-05, 12:51 AM | Sidi shakes his head calmly, trying to ignore the throbing pain in his hand. "That won't be neccesary. I've seen plenty in my travels, and from the look of the carnage I can get a fair mental image of what you can do." All the better she not demonstrate, if that image is right. "Unless you have business, ma'am, I'm going to go grab a drink." |
| Arcuna05-29-05, 02:35 AM | G'eldriina shifts uncomfortably in her seat. Perhaps this is not the safest place for her to be. |
| Taeldrin Laesrash06-09-05, 08:58 PM | "I know. Maybe I should leave this madhouse too." Cronir whispers to G'elidriina, noticing her growing discomfort at the situation. |
| Arcuna06-18-05, 07:32 PM | Parhaps we should speak to Jonathan. He may be willing to sell us protection from his...pet. |
| Taeldrin Laesrash06-18-05, 08:13 PM | "You do it." He jabs his finger in Jonathan's direction. |
| Arcuna06-18-05, 09:13 PM | G'eldriina tries to not show her fear, and shrugs. She puts on her best Damsel In Distress facade, walks over to Jonathan, and whsipers, Forgive my cowardice, but Eletia makes me very uncomfortable. Perhaps I could offer you money in exchange for my safety? |
| Lord Tarran06-18-05, 11:12 PM | Johnathon and Eletia meet eyes as he turns to face G'eldriina. No amount of payment of any kind could make Eletia not go for you if she wishes to. Even if I forbade her to. She will behave though. |
| Arcuna06-19-05, 01:17 AM | Forgive me, but what proof do I have that she won't decide that she's in the mood for a midnight snack and eat my soul whilst I sleep? |
| Taeldrin Laesrash07-16-05, 10:19 PM | "The longer we stay here, the more likely we'll get killed." Cronir quickly whispers to G'eldriina. "I'm going to leave, while my body, mind, and soul aren't threated." The kobold leaps off his seat. He walks up to Jonathan, and drops a score of gold pieces before him. He shakes hands with G'eldriina, Sidi, Renor, and Eletia, and walks to the door. (OOC: I'll probably leave this thread if it really is dead.) |
| Arcuna07-17-05, 02:46 AM | G'eldriina shakes hands with Cronir, bids him Farewell, and be safe. and continues to wait patiently for a response from Jonathan. |
| Lord Tarran07-17-05, 11:03 PM | Johnathon nods as Cronir leaves. " Be safe, and return if you can. " he says, strangely for the evil innkeeper. He then turns back to G'eldriina. "Eletia won't eat customers unless there are special circumstances, such as goody two shoes and spys. You are safe, unless you prove to be such. She will tease you, however, though her form is rather threatening." |
| Arcuna07-18-05, 01:53 AM | I will neither confirm nor deny that I am a spy, G'eldriina says cautiously (and perhaps a little playfully, Johnathan thinks), but I can assure you that my allegiance is not with the likes of Asmodeus or anyone else who would mean you harm. |
| Taeldrin Laesrash07-28-05, 01:13 PM | "I made it through this city once, it shouldn't be much harder. 'Sides, I've contacts in some outposts around what's left of Ched Nasad and one of the Underdark seas. By the way, why do you want me back? Are any of those infernal powers striking soon?" |
| Lord Tarran07-30-05, 11:06 AM | Johnathon looks kindly at the soul hiding within the drow female. "I am glad to hear that. Eletia shall behave, no worries. Neither you or the kobold has raised her ire, nor is she hungry, so worry not." Something, however, suddenly takes his attention away from this conversation, as something does for Eletia as well. Both glance at one another once, before Ele silently slides away from Sidi to out of the building, moving furiously fast away from the inn. John seems worried, very worried, as he makes a few motions with his hands, directed towards the drow in the corner. They nod to him, silently leaving, and following in the same direction as Ele. He then returns his attention to G'elidrinna. |
| Arcuna07-30-05, 02:21 PM | You seem a little preoccupied. Perhaps we should continue this conversation another time? Also, I am curious as to what is going on right now, if you don't mind my asking. |
| Keeper of Secrets08-01-05, 11:39 PM | A perplexing figure enters the inn. He wears black robes and supports himself on an obsidian staff. He has angelic silver hair and a radiance to him along with an unusually intense stare. However in contrast, he has demonic red eyes with only the slightest hint of topaz, and has pale skin that could be compared to a corpse. John determines the mans name is Lothiar, and he is a most unusual creature, equal parts angel and fiend, a contradiction. His mind is clouded with hatred. Finally, he wears an amulet that glows green. Occasionally a ghastly face appears in the amulet, its face twisted in terror. Hello. This is an interesting place indeed..... Lothiar sits down. |
| Arcuna10-23-05, 07:52 PM | G'eldriina suddenly starts, as if she was just shocked. It appears that she had been dozing off only a second ago. Lord Asmodeus' forces are gathering. I fear they may begin their assault very soon... |
| Lord Tarran11-21-05, 10:36 PM | "Most likely you are right," John remarked slowly, as Lothiar entered and sat. "But at this moment in time there is nothing to do. Patience, my lady." He smiled, his teeth gleaming. "Lothiar, is your name correct? What may I get you?" Ele is attracted to this new man. She sits silently near him. |
