| Lord_Naraku11-10-06, 12:23 PM | I was curious to know if anyone has ever seen or read the Anime/Manga Bleach. Would it be possible to do a D20 styled game based upon this show? I would like to hear everyones thoughts and ideas on this for a possible future game? |
| Piuro11-10-06, 05:18 PM | I hit with my Zanpakuto for 5079785069387456098374560934875609345930 4867034967034986730496734096734098673049 8670934867093486709348670937d6 damage. Oh look, I criticalled! Lets multiply that mother! |
| Lord_Naraku11-10-06, 07:04 PM | oookay.... |
| Kazeofwinds11-10-06, 07:52 PM | Well, there's a few Shinigami Class progressions over on the DnD boards, and I've got a basic write up of a Quincy class. Its doable yeah, but you need to write class an powers stuff first. I'd use the Tome of Battle manuver system for Kidoh and legacy weapon style style progressions for zanpakutos(Both would need to be custom made, though you could always use BESM d20). |
| Kitaki11-13-06, 12:30 AM | Could someone link some of the Shinigami builds that people have posted, I am currently searching for them myself, but without a forum search it is incredibly clumsy. |
| Lord_Naraku11-16-06, 12:01 AM | Anybody else have any ideas? Something along the lines as other classes and feats, I'm just intrested in what anyone else can come up with. I checked out the stats for the Quincy base class and loved it! |
| Darth Sephiroth11-16-06, 12:34 AM | Well the Zapato or whatever they are called are probably best treated as Legacy Weapons |
| SokenzanMarauder11-17-06, 06:39 PM | What about their Bankai (I love that word)? If the standards from the series are any indication of their powers I'd figure you'd need a legacy weapon with the polymorph ability cast on itself, or something along those lines. -Gene |
| Otogi11-19-06, 01:57 PM | I wonder how many times Rukia has failed a drawing check? "I draw a picture depicting the strugle between hallows and shinigami." *Rolls a 3* "Damn" |
| Kitaki11-23-06, 08:44 AM | I wonder how many times Rukia has failed a drawing check? "I draw a picture depicting the strugle between hallows and shinigami." *Rolls a 3* "Damn" Is it possible she has negative skill points in Craft/Perform (Draw)? PS i'm not sure which one drawing/painting would fall under. |
| Darth Sephiroth11-23-06, 04:45 PM | If I remember right, there is something else that's preventing her from being able to use it beyond injury at the beginning of the series. That could be something that negates the Zanpato abilities when she uses it and she uses the transfer legacy abilities or the shared Legacy options, with the soul candy and other similar things being usable as a way to negate the negative levels it normally causes with the Mod Souls being a larger one. With the first use being at low enough levels that Ichigo's natural abilities being strong enough to overpower that penalty. |
| Kitaki11-28-06, 12:22 PM | Ok, if you want to make your own Shinigami class, start with a Swordsage. I just got the Tome of Battle: Book of the Nine Swords. There are alot of similar abilities (Shadow Jaunt = Flash Step?). And creating Hitsugaya Toushirou's Shikai ability is easy, just use the Firesnake ability, it creates a 60ft long snake of fire that you can control and direct it where to go, sure sounds like that ice dragon he uses. |
| Lord_Naraku11-28-06, 01:22 PM | Would you recommend the Tome of Battle for stuff like this? I mean was it worth it to you? |
| Agent Rasp12-01-06, 06:19 PM | It's not mentioned under D&D rules, but in d20 Modern, drawing falls under Craft (visual art). So I'm guessing Rukia has a Trait or Flaw that imposes a penalty on Craft checks. Also, setting aside the fact that it would have messed up the entire storyline, I believe the reason that Rukia couldn't use her bankai when she met Ichigo was because shinigami officers (if not the entire corps) are prohibited from using their full power in the living world. The logic is that the craziness unleashed when a lieutenant or captain really cuts loose interferes with the natural development of human society; thus, the shinigami need to get special authorization to go over the imposed limit (I want to say 30%). Other thoughts: -- A feat or template granting the ability to see and interact with the spirit world (Ethereal Plane?) is a must for Ichigo. A different one is likely required for the people whose abilities developed as a result of being around him. -- Mechanically, zanpakuto as Legacy weapons sounds good, but did Rukia share her sword with Ichigo, or use it in a ritual to awaken an entirely different Legacy? My understanding was that the zanpakuto is a part of its owner's soul power, not an entirely separate tool that (s)he learns to channel that power through. Did I misread something? |
| lordmusou12-11-06, 09:51 AM | anythings possible so we can make it happen.l I am willing to help you out alright. So how bout my offer. Let me know when you get your character sheets and other stuff like that set up. |
| Lord_Naraku12-11-06, 07:00 PM | Awesome, I'm ready to go whenever! I sure appreciate the help anytime, I'll try and put up some of my stuff for the soul reaper class and stuff soon. I would love to hear some of your ideas as well. |

Or she just never put any ranks in that skill and is just coasting on her CHA, which I'd say is about 14 at most.:f: |

| stranger_among_us01-03-07, 08:33 PM | if you were to translate bleach into a kind of d20 modern system (or maybe psionics), perhaps you could use action points more to use some of the powers and abilites that the characters would get. soul reapers and such classes could get more action points (or maybe spirit points) to represent how in tune they are with the spirit world. normal people could get the normal supply. i'm thinking also of force points in star wars, as in normal people can only gain so many points while those that are spirit sensitive can gain an unlimited amount (even though force points aren't used to activate certain class abilities like action points). you could make spirit sight into a skill that would allow you to discern the location--by sight or sound or feeling--of a spirit. for those who are not trained to see ghosts or cannot see them fully, this could be used like a spot check in a way. for those that can see the spirit plainly, it would be more useful to locate a spirit from great distances (like detect magic or something similar). to determine who was capable of seeing spirits plainly, you could rule that anyone taking a class such as quincy or soul reaper could get a class ability that allowed them to see spirits as if they were not ethereal, and spirit sight as a class ability. everyone else could treat spirit sight as a cross-class ability (and thus having a harder time seeing spirits). for those classes that are gifted as feeling the presence of spirits but not the true sight that someone like ichigo has, spirit sight could be a class skill. |
| Evil_Overlord03-03-07, 04:18 PM | Btw! If anyone is interested... My friend and I are working on details for creating Bleach d20. Any suggestions, ideas, or requests... post them here. We're using Frankto's Naruto d20 as a core basis. http://bleachd20.orgfree.com/phpBB2/index.php |
| Holyslayer03-10-07, 08:33 PM | Well....I want to put some of my work here... I've designed some feats, advanced classes and a shinkaï and bankaï system, and a ''Reiatsu Pool'' system. Here's my shinkaï and bankaï systems: Basically, you design shinkaïs with 5 points and Bankaïs with 15 points. Power Point cost Added Damage.................................. .1/dice Spell effect.................................. ......Spell Level Reiatsu Boost................................... ..1/reiatsu point Short Range attack..............................1 Medium Range attack............................2 Long Range attack................................3 Grant Feat.................................... .......3 It's a little overpowered, but it works for my group. Shinkaï is attained at levels 7-9 for a normal character, but one in my group has attained it at 5th level....(trough boosting his Reiatsu with feats...) and Bankaï around levels 15-20. |
| Need_A_Life03-13-07, 01:46 PM | Heh, I'd prefer using Savage Worlds for Bleach to be perfectly honest... d20 works for quite a few things, but "Fast! Furious! Fun!" sounds like the three F's we're looking for in an anime such as this. It already has the framework, really all you need do is call "Spirit" for "Reiatsu", and add in some shikai and bankai (using the chapter on magic as framework). Then give more points for abilities and skills and add in Flash Step and Arcane Background (Demon Magic) and you're pretty much set. Races: - Shinigami [shouldn't it be "Shinikami", if it is to mean Death God?] would get a d6 Spirit, but would get the Outsider hindrance. - Hollows would use the Arcane Background (Super Powers) in the book as a framework, however each of their abilities should be individually flavoured rather than using the normal trappings. - Modified Souls get the ability to be inserted into an inanimate body (and the virtual invulnerability that potentially comes with it), but suffer -1 toughness. Zanpaktou's should be like the katana presented in the book, except it should use Spirits rather than strength (both for carrying requirement and damage) seeing as how it's pure spiritual force. Quincy bows would be a slightly modified Arcane Background (Weird Science), with the added ability of making that all-powerful last stand ability by sacrificing 3 bennies and losing the Arcane Background Edge after the encounter. That's what I can think of, off the top of my head. EDIT: Also, I hear some people dissing Rukia's drawings... now, I must admit that they seem malplaced considering she's usually talking about monsters of death and destruction and using cute figures to represent them, but can you honestly say that you could make a drawing on par with what she's doing, or even draw better? In 30 seconds or less? If so, good for you! |
| InkBlot03-13-07, 03:52 PM | Bleach is the best anime example of the 3.5 psionics system I've seen. Ichigo, a wild talent with huge but unreliable reserves of power. He could always sense the spirits of the dead, but it wasn't until he met Rukia that he learned to use his power for other things - like summoning giant swords out of thin air. Wilder, with Stygian Discernment and Expanded Knowledge (Call Weaponry). Alternatively, a Psychic Warrior using the Soulbound Weapon (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/psm/20070214a) variant, and with the feats Hidden Talent (Stygian Discernment) and Psionic Talent (taken as many times as possible). Uryu is a powerful holy warrior who uses a bow formed from spiritual energy. He's easily a soulknife/illumine soul/soulbow. One or two levels of ardent, and the Practiced Manifester feat, can give him his self-buff and spiritual detection abilities. Chad is preternaturaly tough and strong. Fighter 2/ psychic warrior 2. Feats; hidden talent (vigor), psionic body, improved toughness, improved unarmed strike, psionic talent, psionic talent, psionic talent. Powers; vigor, thicken skin, biofeedback. Chad has 12 extra hit points from feats, not including the temporary hitpoints from Vigor, and 11 extra power points from feats. Each time he manifest Vigor he can get up to 10 temporary hp. Since he has at least 12 power points, he can manifest Vigor at least 6 times (if he never manifests anything else). With average HD rolls and a +4 Con modifier he'll have 52 HP, 62 after manifesting Vigor, and DR 2/-- after manifesting Biofeedback. |
| Domriso03-13-07, 07:57 PM | As for Ichigo, isn't he actually a different race, considering he was born a shinigami, or something like that? Just my thoughts. Great idea. I'd love to see how it comes out. |
| zeone300003-20-07, 02:06 PM | No, he was born human, went through some extreme training to become a death god. That training led to him having a hollow mask being able to manifest every now and again when is in a tight situation, huge power buff. Then eventually he learns to control and manifest the mask of his own will. He is a vizard. That be a template, that allows them to get huge pluses for a long or short time, for Ichigo, like 2 rounds (I think he can only hold for like 12-15 seconds right now). Another vizard for his/her name can hold on it for hours. I'm really good a making classes and monster (points at KH board at videogames d20 forum), let me know if u need any help. Plus, i've read the manga, and all the episodes to date and wil in the future. |

Ichigo would get a bonus to reiatsu (either use Wisdom score or make a system similar to taint [D&D; HoH], except beneficial) for his race, and the ability to assume spirit form (with greater proficiency than a human, such as Inoue-san or Sado-kun) |
| zeone300003-23-07, 08:37 PM | Aww, yes true, but do u really think that explains y he's so powerful? Only reason he's so powerful is because is the main character. His dad regain his powers til quite recently. |
| Need_A_Life03-24-07, 03:43 PM | Aww, yes true, but do u really think that explains y he's so powerful? Only reason he's so powerful is because is the main character. His dad regain his powers til quite recently. Well, he's the son of a captain class shinigami and furthermore has been trained by the best people around (Urahara, Yuruichi etc.), and is (despite trying to fight it) a Vizard, disguised as a shinigami. |
| zeone300003-24-07, 08:29 PM | just saying all that wouldn't have happened if he wasn't the main character. Anyway, we r getting off point, who cares. What has been done, and what needs be done? |
| Silverthumb12803-25-07, 03:57 PM | Well the Zapato or whatever they are called are probably best treated as Legacy Weapons Legacy Weapons are a good idea, but since the sword itself houses a sentient being, they're also similar to Vestiges with basically two granted abilities each: Shikai and Bankai. And each granted ability has one or two smaller abilities. Oftentimes, the Bankai ability is treated as Gate for a unique monster, like Zabimaru(Renji), and Ashisogi Jizou(Mayuri). |
| zeone300003-25-07, 04:08 PM | Awww yes true but others activate Demon magic, or just transform the weapon into a different type of weapon but with other abilities, like Zangetsu(Ichigo). |
| The_Deathstalker03-25-07, 10:31 PM | Any idea how to build a Weapon of Legacy for Chad's arm(s)? |
| zeone300003-25-07, 10:35 PM | It would be consider unarmed strike legacy weapons. One would raise his offense, while the other raises his defense. So in other words he is his legacy weapon, or whatever else we could use for that, is himself. That is a tough one, i haven't seen like that excpet for the monk's ki strike ability. |
| Rzach04-01-07, 10:39 PM | I am working on a Bleach D20 game as well. I decided to create the game from the ground up. My way of doing this is to create a base class that all Shinigami have. This class is then modified by special feats each level. A player chooses which feats they want. It allows for characters to be extremely different even though they all have the same class. The class is not balanced against normal d20 or D&D classes as the game I am running is going to be set in the Bleach universe. I am using some stuff from BESM D20 to design the Zanpakutō Shikai and Bankai Releases. There are a ton of custom feats that, I feel, present the universe of Bleach in a decent way. I am currently working on the Demon Magic rules for the game at this point. I feel that the best way to do any Anime game is to select a ruleset that you feel will work best for it and then customize the ruleset to accomplish what you need. I choose d20 for Bleach because the anime has the feel of someone leveling up at times. I figured a fast level based action game could represent Bleach best for my game. Later on I will post some of the work I have completed. |

I choose d20 for Bleach because the anime has the feel of someone leveling up at times. I figured a fast level based action game could represent Bleach best for my game. Later on I will post some of the work I have completed. I'd be glad to see what you have worked out... Personally, I can't really imagine building Bleach in d20... it seems too static IMHO (the system, that is). Something like Savage Worlds (I won't stop talking about it, I know) has the advantage of letting you work with it without redesigning the ruleset... it's already settingless and shows you how to create things balanced against each other, without you having to reverse-engineer the system. Also, the "Bodyguard" power of "Savage Worlds Fantasy Worldbuilders Toolkit" (ironically, this can be used in any setting...) just screams to me about having an encounter with the 12th squad, who suddenly double in number, using their (now) superior numbers to challenge the players. Also, XP in this system is supposed to accrue pretty fast, so Ichigo reaching "Legendary" (the system's equivalent of D&Ds epic levels) in some 180 chapters (of the manga) seems about right... This would leave 7,2 chapters per XP he gained on average* Now, Bankai *would* be troublesome to stat out, and I am currently thinking of making it a seperate skill from Shikai (though this would allow someone to have Bankai without shikai, which is problematic) but I'll probably end up making it into an Arcane Background (Zanpaktou) [but allow people to also take Arcane Background (Hidou)] and make Shunpo a skill (making it effectively limitless in use, though possibly limited by your Rank). While in spirit form one would use ones Spirit dice instead of Strength or Vigor when making rolls based on this [though you still use your Vigor for determining Toughness], but when you assume a Gigai your natural stats reassert themselves, making it not entirely irrelevant whether you have a d4 strength or not. Zanpaktou's would therefore deal damage according to your Spirit dice rather than your strength (as would a Quincy's bow, though they're a special case...) I am developing a "basic" Hollow and have made a Gillian (used a Dragon as a basis, but lowered its intelligence), but have not created Greater Hollows, Arrancar, Vaizaardo, Bounto (just read the Manga, and they were absent!!! I liked that plot arc... except for the "new mod-souls"). I also created modsouls, Shinigami and have been brainstorming about Edges and Hindrances. *=1 XP is an uneventful session; 2 XP is an average session; 3 XP is the end of a story arc, according to the system's guidelines. Bonus XP is replaced with "+1 reroll/session." |
| Rzach04-02-07, 08:13 PM | This is the base shinigami class I worked out. Combat Feats are feats that cover one of the four areas of shinigami combat. Sword Techniques, Hand Techniques, Foot Techniques, and Demon Magic. Bonus Feats are drawn from the D&D fighters list and a list of general feats I have created for the Shinigami. Soul Slayer Feats are feats that improve your soul slayer or improve your ability to use it. I also have several other types of feats available. Shinigami are not human any more so they dontt start with the Humans free feat. Nor do they gain a skill point bonus. All Shinigami are considered ethereal for purposes of detection and movement in the real world. And all shinigami start with a Zanpakuto that they are automatically proficient with. Shinigami select twelve skills of their choice as class skills. In addition all Shinigami consider Spellcraft and Concentration to be class skills. Shinigami start with (6+Int Mod) x 4 Skill points Shinigami earn 6+Int Mod skill points each level Shinigami have d10's for hit dice. Shinigami Class Level B.A.B. Fort Ref Will A.C. | zeone300004-02-07, 08:18 PM | Shinigami is not race, it's a class and job if you will, so they would still get the bonus feat and skill points if they are human. |
| Rzach04-02-07, 10:37 PM | Shinigami is not race, it's a class and job if you will, so they would still get the bonus feat and skill points if they are human. Shinigami for the most part come from Soul Society. They are spirits who live in another world. I don't classify them as human as the extra starting feat would unbalance my game. The class I posted was not developed for use in a normal d20 or D&D game. It is instead my attempt to create a Bleach game using d20 rules. In my game Shinigami don't start with a bonus feat or skill points due to the fact that they are no longer human. Special exceptions can exist of course as Ichigo was definitely human when he became a Shinigami. If I was going to allow characters like Ichigo in my game I would come up with a mortal based Shinigami system to explain their existence. My game though focuses on Shinigami who come from Soul Society. Later on I will post some of the feats I have created. Also please realize that none of my material I post is in it's final form. It still needs to be modified and tweaked before it is complete. Thank you for your time. |
| zeone300004-02-07, 10:40 PM | K sorry, it seem u have thought all this through and just need to post it. |

| zeone300004-02-07, 11:00 PM | Then they should either get more skills or less skill points. Because right now all you need is an INT of 14 to max out each skill. |
| Rzach04-02-07, 11:02 PM | Many of these feats still need to be modified before the system will be balanced. Flash Steps in particular can pose many problems. One of the solutions I have to this is a new kind of action. When you enter combat with some one you may use your Flash Steps ability to keep pace with them in combat. I call this action Engaging the Enemy. You move your character if your opponent moves. You may automatically move up to your current movement rate. If you have to do this you may not take a 5 foot step or move action during your initiative order. This maintains the cinematic nature of Bleach fights where characters often Flash Step in combat. |
| Rzach04-02-07, 11:04 PM | I still have to modify the skills.. I may end up adding more skills to the list. Maybe allow them to take up to 12 skills as class skills. Edit: Consider this official. All shimigami choose 12 skills of their choice at first level as class skills. Concentration and Spellcraft are always considered class skills no matter what. |
| Rzach04-02-07, 11:10 PM | Here are more feats These are general feats that you can take as a shinigami.... These need to be balanced badly... | Rzach04-02-07, 11:31 PM | As you can see i have a lot of feats planned out. Many still need tweaking and such. I am currently working on the demon magic spells and Zanpakuto creation. I have some rudimentary rules for Zanpakuto creation based on the Item of Power and Special Attack effect in BESM d20. I am still modifying the system. One issue is Zanpakuto damage. I have a very primitive chart for it that allows a character to buy there Shi Kai and Ban Kai standard damage. It needs more tweaking and balancing for it to work. Back to the feats...... Many of the feats were designed to replicate certain characters from the show. The DR feats were meant to replicate Kenpachi while the Flash feats were meant to replicate Yoruichi Shihouin. I am also currently figuring out a feat tree to replicate the fourth squads ability to heal with Kido energy. I have a reiatsu chart by level figured out.. SP per Level Character Level Spirit Energy 1 5 2 11 3 18 4 26 5 35 6 45 7 56 8 68 9 81 10 95 11 110 12 126 13 143 14 161 15 180 16 200 17 221 18 243 19 266 20 290 21 315 22 341 23 368 24 396 25 425 Bonus SP is calculated by taking your Con modifier and multiplying it by your level. Every action in my Bleach game has an associated cost in Spirit Points. If you have no SP you are unable to act. This is shown to happen only once in the anime when Shūhei Hisagi is drained of his spirit energy temporarily. Comments and suggestions are welcome. Edit: Reiatsu Levels Weak 1 to 5 SP Normal 6 to 105 SP Strong 106 to 210 SP Distracting 211 to 350 SP Suffocating 351 to 515 SP Deadly 516+ SP |
| Rzach04-02-07, 11:37 PM | Oh... I almost forgot... Epic Levels start at level 26 for Bleach games... I am planning some Epic stuff. Mostly special classes and such. I figure that Aizen is around level 30 or so. He is supposed to be around twice as strong as an average captain. You must be 15th level to achieve captain rank in my game. |
| Rzach04-02-07, 11:51 PM | Also on the to-do list... A hollow creation system. I have some rough ideas on it right now. Basically I see hollows as having decent hp and strong attacks. Each hollow has some unique type effect they can do. I might write up hollows as another class. But instead of balancing it against the shinigami for player use, I will balance it as a monster. Basically give it two or three hit dice per level, but few feats or powers. I am not quite sure yet as I still have to finish the Shinigami system. One of my players wants me to make a Quincy class as well. Hope you all enjoy what I have posted. |
| Rzach04-03-07, 12:00 AM | Damage.... One of the big problems in a Bleach game is how in the anime characters do amazing amounts of damage to the enviroment around them. Kenpachi breaks a building with a sword strike....... So I am getting rid of hardness for attacks Shinigami make on objects.... Even the enviroment has minimal resistance to spirit attacks..... |
| zeone300004-03-07, 12:08 AM | well if he hit a character with would it cut them in half? There is alot to take into account with these type of things. A building is going to go down hard tasties balls, while some character would be like 'what was that? a bug?' A sword does different damage based on a characters STR. So with this type thing u would have to figures a persons defense, which is taken into account with DR. Then, u have to figure how much SP is going into the attack. For instance, Ichigo's Lunar Fang slow gets more powerful, but some characters take it and others get cut in half. |
| Rzach04-03-07, 12:18 AM | While there is plenty of structural damage done in Bleach, we never see a character cut in half or instantly destroyed. I would say that living beings are harder to destroy than objects. Objects have no will to live or exist. Souls are different in that they wish to survive. On a technical level the Shinigami strikes an object and the lesser spiritual force gives way to the stronger one. In this case the Shinigami is always considered stronger. But when a Shinigami strikes another living being that beings soul fights back against the damage. While a Shinigami could kill the soul, maybe even permanently with the right weapon, the soul does not just give in and break automatically when hit. In game terms objects have hardness... Characters don't. Hardness doesn't count against Shinigami attacks. DR and Hardness are different. Only living beings and souls can have DR. That should make it possible to have characters inflict massive damage on the enviroment but be able to survive extreme attackss |
| zeone300004-03-07, 12:21 AM | So they do more damage to objects, god u r taking the roundabout route to an easily solution. All that explaintions isn't needed. |
| Rzach04-03-07, 12:27 AM | It really doesn't matter that much for the game... It was just an idea I had. DM's could simply narrate environment damage instead.. That would work just as well. Anyways... Do you have any criticism of the feats I listed? Comments are welcome. |
| zeone300004-03-07, 12:28 AM | Well i read all of them after u posted them, but i haven't really thought about them yet. I'll get back to on that. |
| Rzach04-03-07, 12:28 AM | Oh and to answer the question for this thread. Bleach d20 is it possible? I believe it is possible.. Definitely. |
| zeone300004-03-07, 12:33 AM | In the class, at first level u have shiningami & combat form feat. What is the shinigami for? Also, shouldn't the player choose what there best and worst saves are? |
| zeone300004-03-07, 12:38 AM | Oh and I find the best way to see if something works, overpowered, or underpowered is to playtest it with multiple people. Best way to judge something is to see it in action. |
| Rzach04-03-07, 12:39 AM | Shinigami gives the player their death god status, a zanpakuto, and proficiency in it's use in all forms. And I hadn't really thought about the saves.... That is a good idea... Allow the players to choose their best, average, and worst saves.... Makes sense. Death god status is more of a rp benefit than anything else. |
| zeone300004-03-07, 12:40 AM | well more stuff to post then, like i said earlier u got the ideas, just make sure to post them. |
| Rzach04-03-07, 12:47 AM | I tend to test systems by myself. I run average numbers with the powers and see if they come out balanced. For example the DR numbers were based upon a average released Zanpakuto doing 3d8 damage with a 19-20 crit. I use different types of character builds to figure out the damage averages for each level. I will build a character who tries to break the system some how and then I go back and tune the system so that it is balanced against that happening. It doesn't always work and I don't catch everything... But I don't have a good playtest group here.... Most of the players don't want to test out new things over and over again. Especially when I have to change the rules game to game. Oh well. I will be back tommorrow. Later all. |
| Rzach04-03-07, 08:12 PM | A new General Feat.... Enhanced Ability Requirements: Level 5+ An ability score of your choice is raised by 2 permanently. You may learn this feat multiple times and it's effects always stack. |
| shadowstk04-03-07, 08:13 PM | Hello everyone :) I posted a Soul Reaper class based on the Bleach anime a few days ago. It has been relatively well received. Please feel free to take a look at it and make any recomendations you think will help :-) As you might expect, it is not a perfect representation of a Soul Reaper but I feel it is about as good as D20 rules can accomplish without going into epic. Here is the link: http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?p=11977603#post11977603 |
| Rzach04-04-07, 01:42 AM | I like the class. I assume do to the way it is designed that it is intended for use in a normal D&D game along side other characters.... My take is one page two of this topic... It is designed to stand alone. |
| shadowstk04-04-07, 03:17 PM | Thanks, im glad you like it. You are correct, this is intended to be used in a normal DnD game. All that would be required for most campaigns is to change the weapon names, the activations (Shi-Kai and Ban-Kai), and perhaps the class name and it should fit into just about anything. I like your class as well, it has lots of fun flavorfull ideas. |
| Skyrocket04-06-07, 11:48 PM | A new General Feat.... Enhanced Ability Requirements: Level 5+ An ability score of your choice is raised by 2 permanently. Dear Lord, that's pretty broken. There's a reason it's not easy to permanently amp up or ability scores in most d20 games; balance.:help: |

I need it to reflect the powerful nature of characters in the bleach universe. As such stat boosts are needed. I am still working out the details and some feats are being changed, but over all this game would not work as a standard d20 game. Characters are way to powerful. |
| dr0wwarr10r04-08-07, 04:11 AM | -- -- Mechanically, zanpakuto as Legacy weapons sounds good, but did Rukia share her sword with Ichigo, or use it in a ritual to awaken an entirely different Legacy? My understanding was that the zanpakuto is a part of its owner's soul power, not an entirely separate tool that (s)he learns to channel that power through. Did I misread something? I believe his original Zanpaktuo was a shared part of Rukia's soul that fed off of his power untill he was almost killed by her brother. Then his true zanpaktuo "Zangetsu" or "Cuttung Moon" was awakened during is training with Mr. Hat 'n Clogs. |
| SeijiTataki04-08-07, 05:04 AM | I've begun designing a Shinigami Prestige class that can operate independently of or with most any D20 system. http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=824648 Putting aside desires to push for manga/anime-like abilities, I'm trying to create a class that's more balanced without losing the flavor and style of the Shinigami. Currently, the class lacks Zanpakutō creation, which is still being worked on as of this posting. |
| dr0wwarr10r04-09-07, 03:51 AM | so basically the only thing we're really missing is an effective template for Zanpakutos. |
| WanderingGod04-09-07, 06:38 PM | Why don't people use the BESM D20 more. I mean it is D20 and it was created for these types of Anime based games, not to mention any other possible genre you could think of. The wicked cool stuff that you see in Anime and the like can't really be translated to a standard DnD system without dumbing the stuff down. So grab the BESM D20 book or the SRD and commense with awesome gameage. |
| Kazeofwinds04-09-07, 06:47 PM | To but it simply, BESM d20 was balanced by a drunken monkey on an acid trip. Well, in reality, I dunno, its easier to get homebrew dnd classes into a game than trying to start a whole new system? |
| WanderingGod04-09-07, 07:02 PM | BESM d20 was balanced by a drunken monkey on an acid trip. Maybe but that's what you need. When you watch any Anime, or even read any Manga, they do stuff that would blow the ******* out of the core DnD. Besides, if you know how to play DnD or any D20 game then you already know how to use the BESM D20 system. It's just going to be ALOT harder to capture the same feel as Anime/Manga by trying to stick it in with DnD. |

If you're running a pure BESM game it probably balances out fine, but It seems most people just want to play an anime character in a regular DnD game. BESM d20 doesn't work quite as well for that purpose. BTW, am I the only one that thinks the inclusion of classes in BESMd20 seems forced when comparted to old Tri-Stat BESM? Also, I've started work on a Shinigami Class. http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=826461 /shameless self promotion. |
| Rzach04-14-07, 06:13 PM | Here is a link to a web page where I have posted my most recent work on Bleach D20. http://rzach.007ihost.com/Bleach%20D20%20rpg%20UPDATED%20(4-14-07).htm I use Besm D20 as a starting ground. This is not the final form of the game. It is just what notes I have compiled. |
| Rzach04-14-07, 06:46 PM | I am currently working on a Zanpakuto Creation system that will cover everything we see in the anime. Right now it consists of a set of guidelines to follow when designing the special attacks. |
| dr0wwarr10r04-19-07, 02:28 AM | i've been working on a zanpakutou for my shinigami. starts as a simple katana with +1 for every 3rd lv and shikai at lv6. the shikai is a +1 katana (mine is a double blade side by side with a swept, extended handle) with a ranged lightning attack. bankai at lv 15 is a silver tai chi sword with a lightning dragon coming from the blade. (sentient like all zanpakuto spirits) all attacks do double damage to structures (to keep in the flavor of the series) still a work in progress. |

| Amrien05-09-07, 10:26 AM | I'm pretty much done with a Bleach d20 manual... If you're interested. I created another thread asking for art for it. |
| turalisj05-22-07, 04:43 PM | It says the link doesn't exist. |
| Geraturatu06-04-07, 11:25 AM | "You know, the bleach stuff, if made into DND, would easily be broken. So much power lies in this, that power gamers would concivably have an unending field day with this. It would be way to easy to beat a humongously powered diety with one of these characters. Just look at what the people in the show are capaple of in the very beggining, they would chew up and spite out characters made from the normal dnd rules. You really can't put a big limit on the Bleach abilities, because people are capable of so much that it's nearly impossible to put a leash on this. Unless you know what you're doing that is. Just by watching the first 50 episodes, you see how powerful the begginers are. Everyone would die against these guys. Not to mention how much power you have is supposed to be determined by if you're royal or whatever and by your self esteem (a.k.a. the part where Ichigo fights that giant muscle guy that hadn't been hurt for a long time), kinda makes alot of powerful people with high esteem. Though it is possible to do this, you'll just have to put alot of limits that aren't there in the show. It will not seem at all the same if you manage to get this to waork without it bieng uberpowered, I warn you" Any who's, I couldn't resist saying all that. All that built up really quickly. I wish you luck. |
| dr0wwarr10r06-04-07, 01:19 PM | that's hy lieutenants and captains get limits in the real world. duh! |
