Yep, this one's it. I won't be accepting people who didn't sign up originally, as we'll shortly be on the Shadow after a quick jaunt to Sigil.

You arrive in a surprisingly well-kept section of the city of Sigil. Whether through nature or illusion, the sun is shining brightly, and a lawn of honest grass, though small, stands before you. Syra snorts derisively.

"Welcome to my mother's not-so-humble home. Don't look her in the eye, and stay close."

The shadowmancer begins walking forward.

Doran looks around at the others assembled and shrugs his shoulders, shuffling his wings as he does so. He takes up a spot just behind and to the right of Syra.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Realizing that the trouble is still rather far away, Sevifor absorbs the daggers back into his skin and gestures broadly towards the fading backs of Syra and Doran. Looking at Neme he says "As they say, ladies first."

I'll normally post the responses of my charecters seperately, but for short replies like this I plan to separate them with a line. I may even steal Gideon's idea and make a second account for one of them so it's not quite as confusing.

Neme smiles and nods a thanks to Sevifor, "That's very sweet. Not many guys do that any more you know." She walks through the portal following Syra.

OOC: Just out of curiosity, what will happen if we look into your Mom's eyes? :OOC

Following her through the portal, Sevifor waves a goodbye to Torien, possibly never to see him again. He turns back to Neme and says "Well, talk to me in an hour and I can assure you, much to my distress, that I will not be much of a gentleman. My apologies."

The sandman emerges from the Sigilian side of the portal with a look of surprise on his face, he hadnt expected his daughter to pull him through the portal so quickly, her strength was surprising. He follows after Syra with his eyes kept to the ground so that he does not offend Syra's mother with eye contact, he also tries to make sure that Neme is close to him, sensing her curiousity of what will happen if she looks into the mother's eyes.

She'd obliterate us. She does not like strangers looking in her eyes, and she's something around 500 Wizard/100 Sorcerer/5 Archmage right now. Syra's mother is a badass. With a very short fuse.

Syra knocks on the front door, and her spitting image opens it up. Syra's mother looks exactly like her daughter, except that her clothing is a deep, royal red.

"I see you finally decided to call on your own mother, you ingrateful whelp."

"Be quiet mother. I found out the truth. Why the hell do you think I've been gone so long 'getting milk'?

Syra's mother looks shocked, then calm.

"Alright. Come on in, and bring your friends with you. But don't scuff the carpet; it scuffs back."

The two walk inside.

"That's OK because I'm sure when the fight comes around, I wont be much of a lady." Neme stays close to her father and try's to be weary incase of sudden attack, and walks into the house. She is careful to try to keep her eyes lowered as not to stair at anything but the floor.

02-14-07, 08:48 PM
Doran walks into the home, being careful not to scuff the carpet. "It would seem as if this is a women I do not wish to anger" he thinks to himself. He takes a moment just inside the enterance to re-arange his cloak so that it covers up his wings; he'd met too many people with predjudice against them and didn't want to meet another. "I must be an expert at this by now." he thinks sarcastically to himself as he continues following the mother-daughter pair.

Sevifor walks into the house just after Doran with no special occurance.

02-14-07, 09:05 PM
Syra's mother's voice slides through Doran's mind.

"There's no secrets or prejudice here. I screwed a shadow demon, you're fine."

Syra sighs.

"Mother, you're embarassing me. This is Sigil Prep all over again."

She takes you into a dining room and conjures some chairs, indicating that you should sit.

"Kilra Kavon folks, my mother. They can introduce themselves; I'd be doing them an injustice if I did it for them. We need your help defeating my father."
Sorcen_Anenooata

LeVeldrin bows and keeps his eyes from meeting the woman, "I am LeVeldrin the Somniscient, and this is my daughter Neme, we are pleased to meet you Lady Kilra."
ank

02-14-07, 09:56 PM
Doran is taken aback to find any mother who would use such language, but he mearly smiles and nods his head in acknowledgement. "Thank you madam, it is nice not to have hide these things." He unfurls his wing membrane and says "I am Doran, dragon mage, pleased to meet your acquaintance." He takes up a seat near the middle of the table, away from any potential reserved seat.

Sevifor enters the dining room as well, taking a moment to soak up the room around him. He turns to face Kilra, but remembers Syra's warning about her temper. He decides to pull and old trick and look directly between the two so as not to be addressing either while still accepting their presense.
"A wonderful home you keep. My name is Sevifor and I come from a rather unique backround which I don't believe we have time to go into the details on." He glances about a with a tinge of nervousness, as if unaware of where, or if, he should sit.
Lord_Gareth

02-14-07, 10:04 PM
Kilra nods her head at each of you without locking eyes.

"So, what do you expect me to do? I've already sworn an oath not to directly oppose him."

"I know you're a woman of your word, stupid as that may be.

"Girl, you will -"

"Mother, need I remind you that you've been my string-puppet since I was the age of twenty?"

Kilra growls slightly.

"Father will be anticipating a mass shift by me into his domain. I want you to open a portal into the Shadow yourself. I'm sure you can send us through, right, mother?"

"Fine."

"Good. By the way," she gestures at the aged sage, "This is Bartlemaeus."
Larz_Fang

02-15-07, 02:36 AM
The Ripper, though came with the others stays quiet and waits for Bartlemaeus to speak.
Gideon_Gideonson

02-15-07, 02:31 PM
Bartelemus bows deeply, although rather stiffly, and rises again, holding his back as if the movement pained him.

"A pleasure to meet you, my lady."
Lord_Gareth

02-15-07, 04:03 PM
Kilra smiles at Bartlemaeus, making eye contact.

"Now, my dear friend, that is an interesting mind you have there..all that knowledge -"

"Mother, you will keep your claws out of my friends."

Kilra frowns and looks at her daughter again.

"Fine. But I'm not sending you to the Shadow without a favor in return. And don't protest; my will is stronger than yours, you can't make me do something as complicated as magic. If you and your 'friends' are agreeable, we can discuss terms."

"Fine, you wretched scumbag. You should have died birthing me."

"I love you too."
Larz_Fang

02-16-07, 11:06 AM
The Ripper stands up to the others and speaks.

"[Click] Since everyone has introduced themselves except for me, I [Clickclickclick] believe that it is time that I give you my name. [Click click] I am known as The Ripper, and I am [Crrlick] the greatest Shaswai hunter alive today. [Click click] However, had I lived in normal conditions [Crrlickclickclick] I would have died approximately three hundred years ago. [Crrclick click] So, my lady, what is this favor that you [Click] ask of us?"
Lord_Gareth

02-16-07, 11:22 AM
"Excellent question, my insectoid friend. Something dear has been stolen from me, and I want it back."

Kilra snaps her fingers, and a mephit flits into the room, carrying a rolled-up scroll. She flattens it out on the table, dismissing the quasi-elemental.

The picture shows a trident, covered in designs depicting snakes, water, and frost.

"This trident is called Atlantica. She is an ancient Faerunian goddess, evil and twisted by all accounts, of the sea. I braved her tomb and found her, claimed her as my own. Her will was strong, but I forced her to submit. Now a thief has broken into my warehouses and stolen what is likely the single-most destrucrive force to be contained in a weapon. Bring her back to me, and I will open your portal. Do you agree?"
ank

02-16-07, 01:15 PM
Sevifor looks at the rest of his very unorthodox companions, trying to tell what they are thinking. After a moment, they all hear his voice echoing the same message in their heads.

"Lady Syra, other esteemed adventurers, do we have time for such a quest? I am ready and able to undertake such a task, it could even be fun, but I am unsure about the rest of you. If you wish to communicate with out arousing Kilra's attention, I advise you to tap your fingers once against your side for yes, and twice for no."
ank

02-16-07, 01:19 PM
Doran stands and takes a detailed look at the scroll, trying to memorize every feature about it. "Yes...yes it's quite extraordinary, even for me, and I don't take much interest in weapons."

Making sure that Syra is glancing in his general direction, he raises his hand to his head, taking up a thinking position, before lowering it slowly to his side to tap once. Without lifting his eyes from the parchment, he adds "I assume the that have located this 'Atlantica' or at least have somewhere for us to start?"
Lord_Gareth

02-16-07, 03:23 PM
"Of course I know where it is, fool. But I'm forbidden to go there, so I'm sending you instead. Do this for me, and I'll send you to the Shadow. Not before."
FallenVampris

02-16-07, 10:25 PM
Neme sees the image of the trident and leans over to it more to get a better look at it. She notes the beautiful details and designs over it. "I have heard of this in conversation, but thought it was just a rambling of a drunk old man. If needed I can tag along to help recover this weapon."

Making sure her words catch Syra's attention, she crosses her arms and taps her side once then goes back to looking at the image, Neme speaks telepathically to the others, "Just be careful not to get to quiet with talking like this. I'm sure she figures a few of us will be doing it or have the capabilities to."
Sorcen_Anenooata

02-16-07, 10:27 PM
LeVeldrin nods at this agreement, "Its not a problem to go and get this weaponry for you Lady Kilra." He looks at the trident in all its glory and stores the image into his memory, the complicated and overflowing memory of an immortal.
Lord_Gareth

02-17-07, 09:59 AM
Syra's voice slides through you, not in your mind, but in dark parts of your soul.

"She can't hear me. We'd best humor her, though. I'll agree. Just step through her portal if you want to go."

Out loud, Syra adresses her mother.

"Alright, open the damned gate. We'll be back with your trident."

"Excellent."

Kilra snaps her fingers, and a shimmering gate appears to the left of the table.

Syra steps through the gate.
ank

02-17-07, 08:21 PM
With a sincere desire to get out of Kilra's sight as fast as possible, Doran moves towards the gate.

"Alright then, lets get moving."

To Kilra

"Be back with the trident soon."

He takes the final step through the portal thinking "If a dragon doesn't scare me, nothing ever will, but that woman gives me a terrible feeling of forboding."
FallenVampris

02-17-07, 09:27 PM
Neme nods her head in a type of bow to Kilra then walks to the portal. Unsure f what will await her on the other side, she readies herself for anything with her hand on the top of her dagger and a tight grip to her trident. She passes threw the portal and follows the otehrs that have already went.
Sorcen_Anenooata

02-17-07, 09:33 PM
The sandman bows as well to Kilra and steps through the portal, he draws no weapons and does not appear to ready himself for battle as he follows through the portal after his daughter.

02-17-07, 09:37 PM
Sevifor also takes his turn. He bends strangely at the waste with a sickening slooshing sound, as if he has no hipbone. His arm comes sweeping around his midsection as he bows, and he rises wordlessly and strides towards to the gate. As an afterthought, he turns his head halfway 'round to gaze at the last member of the party. "Lets go Ripper, wouldn't want to keep the others waiting." Before he faces the portal again and steps through it with a peaceful look on his face.
Larz_Fang

02-19-07, 09:55 AM
"[Crrlick click] Allright, here we go again."

The Ripper runs quickly to the portal and vanishes.
Gideon_Gideonson

02-20-07, 09:55 PM
Bartelemus has been oddly silent throughout the conversation, staring distantly at the walls, but, as his comrades depart, he shakes himself and recovers his composure. Shaking his head at his own distraction, he bows once again to Syra's mother and then strides into the portal.
Lord_Gareth

02-20-07, 09:57 PM
You find yourselves immersed quite suddenly and completely in liquid as the gate shuts behind you.

You have emerged in the Elemental Plane of Water.

An air bubble forms around you with a shimmer, and Syra glares in the former direction of the gate.

"I hope that b*tch chokes. Come on. I can hear her damned nagging in my head. It's down."

The shadowmancer begins swimming.
Larz_Fang

02-21-07, 03:42 AM
The Ripper's anatomy seems guite well fitting to the watery enviroment, and he swims quite quickly right in Syra's wake.

"[Click click] Good thing that I can hold my [Crrlick] breath for a very long time, if there is going to be some [Click] underwater fighting."
Gideon_Gideonson

02-21-07, 03:47 PM
Upon entering the watery expanse, Bartelemus sighs deeply.

"Swimming? At my age? I don't think that's going to be possibl...oh. Just a second."

A brief flash of light surrounds him, and a small clownfish darts from the sudden vacuum where Bartelemus's body just was. It speaks in his voice.

"Irritating, that's what this is. Fins just never cooperate. And the scales itch something awful..."
FallenVampris

02-21-07, 06:12 PM
As Neme steps through the portal she falls into the water and looks slightly surprised. She materializes a sheath type holster across her back for her trident. She then transforms into her dolphin like state to make herself swim faster. She follows Syra closely, but also occasionally doubles back to the others to make sure everyone is ok and nudges the bubble to catch it up every now and then. She keeps her guard up for attack and is ready to transform back into her human form in an instant.
Sorcen_Anenooata

02-21-07, 06:17 PM
LeVeldrin stands calmly in the bubble but keeps an eye on his daughter in case she needs him. He entertains the idea of transforming himself into a novierre eladrin or a dolphin so that he may be closer to Neme but for now he stays in his natural sandman form.
ank

02-23-07, 06:02 PM
Those who care to look behind them see that Doran just isn't keeping up with the rest of the group. You can see that he uses the right strokes at the wrong time and vice versa. Noticing that he's lagging behind the others, he decides that it's just about time he did something about it. Accepting a nagging poke from Neme he says, louder than normal "Alright, alright already!" A shimmering glow surrounds him as he quickly undergoes a change. His neck extends, his arms and legs retract, and small, almost vestigial wings sprout from his back as scale ripple accross his body; he has transformed himself into a rather young oceanis dragon.

He circles the dolphin once before speeding to join the others. In passing, he says with just a hint of humor "I thought dophins were supposed to be playful creatures."
Gideon_Gideonson

02-23-07, 09:20 PM
The clownfish swims along doggedly, complaining as he goes.

"Kids...playing around being dragons...ha! Showoffs...dragons are easily seen here. They're to big, to clumsy. I can hide in an anemones...does he think I'm going to go out and save him if something attacks us?

Though I suppose I will, of course...
FallenVampris

02-23-07, 10:21 PM
"We are playful creatures, when we aren't on a quest and expecting attacks from any side." Neme keeps an eye on the lagging clown fish and nudges him back up to the bubble. "Just trying to help, I don't mean any offence." She keep swimming with the bubble and Syra with a watchful eye out on her father and looking for enemies.

02-23-07, 11:03 PM
"All this shapeshifting, can't you people just learn to swim? Surprising that even I, a collection of chaos, don't need to change form to swim. It's rather strange." As he swims beside the rest of you, keeping an eye out for the trident or trouble, you notice that Sevifor is being a bit of a hippocrate here. Despite his assurance that he needs no help to swim, if you look you notice that his hands and feet have elongated and are webbed.
Larz_Fang

02-27-07, 12:31 PM
"[Crrlick click] Well, to tell the truth I can actually fly, so I wouldn't [Click click] even need to swim."

That said, The Ripper springs up from the water, spreads his wings and begins to fly.

"[Clickclickclick] It takes a lot of training to learn how to [Crrlick] fly with wet wings, however."

03-02-07, 02:12 PM
Suddenly, Sevifor stops swimming and the others pass him by. After a moment, he collects himself and begins to swim again, the words coming from his seem rehearsed and distant.

"I'm going to be very distracted for awhile, please disregard any strange or unussual behavior for awhile, this is difficult enough."

His hands move like automations in the same prodictable stroke over and over, just barely keeping pace with the others.

Why isn't this thread making any progress?
Lord_Gareth

03-13-07, 05:04 PM
Syra leads you all down into the blackness, glancing about warily. Half-visible shapes play about in the depths, monstrous forms that you can only pray are too big to take any notice of you. The elf seems to increase her speed as you all keep moving, and soon it is evident why: the crushing weight of the water above drives you down.

Soon enough, she stops moving, her boots sinking shallowly into the muck.
Sorcen_Anenooata

03-13-07, 08:51 PM
The sandman watches the creatures around them with interest, the look of a scientist studying new lifeforms. He seems unaffected by the crushing water pressure and his form shifts in and out of the sand and muck.

Neme follows LeVeldrin closely. Upon reaching the bottom with the others, she morphs back into her human form carrying her trident and staying on guard. She watches the moving figures waiting for an attack from any angle.

The clownfish swims up to Syra, it's eyes darting about the shadowy waters nervously.

"Something up? Or is this our destination?"
Lord_Gareth

03-13-07, 09:45 PM
"No, this isn't our destination. But I think it will be easier to find her if we-"

"Who dares?"

"Nevermind."

A figure walks into view from the gloom, holding the very trident you are seeking. She is wearing black plate mail, which shines brightly in the gloom as it glows. Her unhelmeted face shows a striking resemblence to Syra's. As you look closer, you realize.

She and Syra are identical.

The two women's voices sound simoultaeneously.

"Who the hell are you?"

Even the sound of their voices is identical.

"Sh*t. Alright, what's your mother's name?"

"Kilra."

"I hate her so much right now."

The dragon Doran floats close to the bottom, hovering above the rest. He can only stare in shock at the developments.

Sevifor's limp form hits the murky bottom, limp and unmoving. As he lies there, his form becomes unconstant, changing frequently to all manner of hideous forms. The spots he touches are also affected. The sand changes color, the water boils up only to freeze into chunks of ice that float merrily to the surface. Just as it would appear that no life still there remained, the body makes one great spasm, his left...tentacle pointed away to a place far in the distance. A gate springs up where he points, and water flows through, but it is far enogh away that the crew of adventurers feel no adverse affect.
Gideon_Gideonson

03-13-07, 10:07 PM
"Well...that's interesting. Either of you have an explaination for this?"
Lord_Gareth

03-13-07, 10:11 PM
Again, they both speak at the same time.

"My mother sleeps with anything that has legs and tools between them."

They look at each other curiously.

"Umm...if you have a different father, why do we look alike?"

"No clue. Konvinax is my-"

"Son of a b*tch!"

"What?"

Syra rests her head in her hand in exasperation.

"Alright. Can you give me your name?"

"Sylavinavitara"

"Who the hell named you?"

"Dad."

"Figures. Bartlemaeus, why isn't she burning to ash in that light? The water ain't about to help."
Gideon_Gideonson

03-14-07, 03:19 PM
"My dear girl, that's because you do not burn to ash in the light. And, for all intents and purposes, well...she appears to be you."
Lord_Gareth

03-14-07, 03:33 PM
"Umm...Bart?"

Syra indicates her form, tightly wrapped in shadows.

"Magical light burns me to a crisp."

"So you're the one!"

"What?"

"Mother always told me that she drove me out of the house because I wasn't what she wanted. She wanted someone darker, someone more realistic."

"Well, at least we both have mother issues."

"Shut up! You got to live with her! You got to be loved by-"

Syra can't help it; the elf breaks out into laughter. She doubles over, clutching her side.

"Oh, that's rich. Love? Kilra doesn't know the word. You got lucky."

The two stare dagger at each other. Syra's twin begins to raise the trident as Syra forms a whip of darkness.
Gideon_Gideonson

03-14-07, 03:46 PM
The clownfish quickly swims between the two.

"No. You two are not going to attack each other. This doesn't have to go violently."

Bartelemus flips over in the water and glances at the other Syra.

"So you're her as well...except you were thrown out by your mother? Interesting..."

"So that would make you both...?"

"I wonder...there must have been a deeper reason, I think. Some reason for needing a darker version..."

Sorry guys, trouble in paradise. We will not trouble you with the arena match any more after this.
The wretched sight of Siventarr rises from the ocean floor in the distance and Sevifor's gate closes underneath him. He feels the immense pressure of an ocean bottom immediately but, fortunately for him, he doesn't have to worry about breathing. A rather exhausted and battered Sevifor looks up from his former resting place in the muck, where he has sunken shallowly into. Seeing his opponent in the distance he comes to his senses.

"That one."

He points to Siventarr

"Is mine. Leave him to me, do not interfere."

Leaving the others to their Syra v. Sylva match, Sevifor rises from the bottom, swaying from the exhertion, and begins to lumber toward Siventarr.

Syra shakes her head sadly.

"You do not want to be me. Trust me."

"How do you know? How can you say that?"

"Probably because he still has a shred of intelligence, you oversized fork."

Insolent little-

"Be quiet, Atlantica. If anyone is killing my twin, it's me. And I'm not quite sure I want to do that. What does Mother want with this thing? She never used it."

"Done, say no more. I'll be on it like white on rice. Portal us up."

Doran chimes in his in that

"Hmm, I should probably choose a form much more befitting to the plane of shadow then."

He thinks for a moment, you can tell because his eyes glance in a couple of different directions, mostly upwards, before saying

"Na, I'll just go as is I think. For now anyways."

He shifts back to his normal form and steps inside the bubble. Looking at the battle over yonder he finishes by saying.

"I do hope that one, errr, three will be done soon, but we've got ourselves a new recruit right here."

The last words his says come out a little hesitantly, realizing that he's very close to crossing Syra. In his own judgement, it would be a good time to shut up.

Doran takes one last look around the watery environment. He transforms himself into a small fish with transparent white skin. Thus protected against the pressures of the deep, he swims around and hovers on the spot where Sevifor left the area.

Something catches his eye, and he swims down for a closer look. Almost completely buried in the muck is a small broach that constantly changes colors, shifting even to those that Doran has never before seen. These unique patters burn his eyes, and he wishes now he had eyelids he could close. Grabbling the broach, he swims back to the bubble where he becomes himself against. Spitting the broch into his hand, he stows it away inside his cloak before following the other through the portal confidently, trusting his keen senses to let him know if anything should be amiss.

"Portals, portals, portals...what's wrong with a simple transport spell? Ah, well...in I go."

Bartelemus swims quickly through the open portal, and as he does his fish form grows and widens, until he stands once again as a man.

Sorry to have kept you all waiting for so long, but I was stymied by two things - some events in RL and the fact that my life is just plain messed up sometimes.

The portal deposits the group into a shadowed area that feels simply wrong. And it is clearly evident why - there is not a single scrap of light, and the coppery scent of blood is in the air. Revoltingly, you realize that it isn't air you are breathing.

You are inhaling gaseous blood.

However, you are capable of breathing fully, even in this horror. Any glows or colors are extinguished, and Syra's quiet voice floats to you.

"I can see. Stay quiet, and for the love of all that you hold dear, don't look. You wouldn't want to see this."

At his first breath of the bloody substance, Bartelemus doubles over in disgust, before a white light shines briefly around him, and the blood in his vicinity turns to pure air.

"Where are we?"

Bartelemus reaches ahead of him, searching the air for something to grasp onto.

"Syra? We're either going to have to grab hold of you or you're going to have to talk all the time. I'm blind as a bat at the moment."

Syra's hand latches onto Bartlemaeus's with a death grip, only the shadowy touch of her mind on his informing him that it is her.

"No light. At all. We can't afford detection right now. We have to find your daughter before we deal with my father."

The darkness around your wrists coalesces into a kind of link, and you can feel others attached to it - not their thoughts, but their state of physical health. You can now clearly distinguish each other from the surrounding blackness.

"Everyone here?"

04-21-07, 11:38 PM
Chocking on the air, it is all Doran can do to heed Syra's warning and not cough and wheeze.

"There are certainly some better forms for this kind of atmoshphere, but I'd better not. Wouldn't want the rest of them to mistake me for some horror that could be hiding down here."

He shivers in the blackness

"I don't want to be stuck here longer than I have to.

"Yes, I'm here, but we appear to have lost the chaotic one. Some vampire came for him before we left and he hasn't come back yet. Was it just me, or did that trip through the time-space continuum seem rather...extended."

As they enter this new place, Neme has to fight her curiosity of wanting to see what is around. Instantly she notices the copper-ish taste of the air and knows what it is. Syra's shadowy mind touches the group's, and you can see without seeing everything. She's illuminated the surroundings by letting you borrow some of her sight, but she's clearly edited out some things that she doesn't want you seeing.

Bartlemaeus, we'll need to conserve your light to deal with my father. Syla, you'll need to use that trident to face down the blood god without harming Bart's daughter.

How did you know she could do that?

I've been reaming through the dark parts of your mind, sister. I must say, I'm a bit..shocked. I didn't think anyone who knew our mother could be so much like her. Everyone else, help where you think you can help most. This won't be easy.

Slowly, the elf begins walking into the gloom.

Bartelemus looks around at the revealed area with some interest, and his light dims completely, immersing the group in shadows once more. Still, at least now they can see.

"Syra? What exactly can we expect to be up against here? You said your father...but you never told us much about him. I'd dearly hate to be the cause of any misfortune befalling us, so, as the saying goes, forewarned is forearmed."

Bartelemus then glances back at Slyva, his brow wrinkling slightly as he recalls Syra's words. Leaning close to Syra, he whispers quitely in her ear.

"And how dangerous is she, Syra?"

The group continues in the gloom, Syra's dark mind flitting this way and that as it contacts theirs. It is quite likely that she is sifting through your mind, though you can't confirm it - only the pure can keep her out. As such, Neme's contact with her is only tenuous - any closer, and the shadowmancer would burn.

My father...Konvinax is a being of living darkness. Shadow incarnate. The manifestation of everything that dark is. Or, he believes he is. He's a manifestation of everything we fear about the dark, everything we hate. He hasn't realized yet that shadows can be used for more than evil. After all, the sun burns you, but darkness will protect you.

The tiniest bit of light can keep him at bay, but watch out. He's much more adept at shadow manipulation than I am, and the brightest light casts the longest shadow.

In his mind alone, Bartlemaeus hears, My sister is carrying not one, not two, but three fallen gods. The circlet she wears, the trident, and the ring on her ringfinger are all gods locked into artificial shells as their way of surviving their fall. And I have seen some things in her mind...she's some kind of death priest, but she doesn't claim a patron god. She has an almost innate connection with death that she draws power from.
Gideon_Gideonson

04-26-07, 09:32 PM
"So, in short...we are travelling in the company of three imprisoned gods, carried by a priestess of death, walking toward a master of shadow greater than yourself, who is capable of turning even light against us?"

Bartelemus sighs deeply.

"And here I though my retirement would be fairly peaceful..."

"Ah well...here we are. I haven't waited this long to give up now. Lead on, Syra."

04-26-07, 09:43 PM
So my daughter finally returns to me.

Syra stops cold, fear echoing off the mental link as the shadows all around the group speak, a voice echoing with power, malice, and mastery. A cold laugh from a different voice echoes across the cavern you all stand in, and the body of Bartlemaeus' daughter steps through. Syra is blatantly editing it in your sight, the wave of disgust and horror coming from her all too evident.

Shocked? You shouldn't be. I was forced to take other avenues when you broke your mother's deal with me.

"Shut up! You're not my father! She's not my mother! Neither of you know what it means to be a parent, to care or love or anything else! You made me just to get what you wanted and she cast my sister aside because she wasn't useful! I don't owe you anything!"

Who said you did?

The elf is struck dumb by the statement, only able to stare in amazement and fear.

Do you, perhaps, feel that you do? That you've cheated me, Syra? Are you guilty because you've invalidated your existence? Because you have no purpose without me? That you are who you are because of me? I can sense it, Syra. I can see the darkest parts of you, the shadows of your soul. You know it is true.

"SHUT UP!"

The bloody air begins to tense as the shadows stir and lash out between the two. Motionless, locked in a struggle of will, Syra and Konvinax stare at each other, darkness writhing in and out of tangibility between them.

A strangled cry tears from Bartelemus's throat at the sight, and his spells burst once again into existance, cutting through Syra's concealing shadows. The aged sage glows brightly as he steps towards his daughter's form, hoping against hope that what he sees is not what he fears it will be.

"What a fool that Ripper is."

Thinks Doran

"He cannot step away from the girl, he must step outof her."

Doran "looks" around with Syra's granted vision, albeit edited.

"I should do something, not stand here gawking. Syra needs help in this matter."

Finding it rather hard to move for some reason, he lifts a hand and smacks himself on the face.

"Focus, man, focus. You're here because you thought you could handle this strange "pact." Did she say it was a shadow pact...perhaps it was a blood pact...Gah! Nevermind, I'm getting distracted again. Deep, steadying breath now"

Doran inhales deeply and gets a lungful of gaseous blood

"*Cough*"

"Oh right, thats why I didn't want to do that. Alright, here goes."

Doran begins to move his hands in some intricate gestures and he mouths some words of power. Trying to ignore the fact that Syra, Bartlemus, and the Ripper are all stymied by a single thing, he focuses on the task at hand. He focuses on the...it, and tries to trace the threads of magic back to their source.

"The girl's got to be in here somewhere, you don't just dissapear. If I can get to her, get a starting point, maybe I've got half a chance."

As the light pierces the shadows, Konvinax's treachery is revealed. Horrid amalgamations of blood and shadow chitter and slide wetly, revealed by the light. Making a collective noise that could only be laughter, they surge forward.

The Ripper. I've heard of you and your kin. However, the girl is here of her own free will. If you want her, you will have to claim her. And I don't think her creations are happy with that.

"You demented freak!"

As the light reaches him, Konvinax gains definition - a towering monster of darkness and blades, humanoid in shape. Two curved blades of darkness are in his hands as his daughter stares him down.

Now Syla! Strike him now!

Oh yes. I remember you, Sylavinatara. It seems you've found someone to steal power from in place of me. Always the little sneak, weren't we? I don't think Caben Duur will appreciate you siphoning his power from him.

"I'll ignore that statement for right now. Syla, concentrate on the girl. Dad is MINE!"

Daggers seeming to jump from their breast sheaths, Syra leaps forward. Konvinax parries easily, throwing his daughter backwards as the elf backflips to kill momentum. Shadows reach forward and enwrap her hands and spread over her body as she charges again, tendrils of darkness lashing out. Chuckling, her father steps forward to meet her fury.

OOC: LeVeldrin will take more of a protective role with Neme, so pretty much anything that should hit Neme will strike against LeVeldrin instead and due to his planeswalker abilities, he will be able to withstand anything thrown at him.

Those planeswalker abilities are a little unbalanced and too godlike to be used to their full power here, and LeVeldrin is the humble type, hence why he chooses to remain a servent/friend to Sorcen. If you have anythign specific for LeVeldrin to do then just ask but he will mainly be defending Neme.

BIC: LeVeldrin calls to the others of his group with his mind, a soft-spoken voice, Remember to watch the girl for attacks, be wary of the blood god.

Meanwhile LeVeldrin moves to defend his daughter, keeping himself as a near incorporeal human-shaped sandstorm, corporealizing only when he needs to block something from striking Neme.

I heard that, Doran. You were a fool to think your thoughts were safe, but right now we have a job to do. We'll settle that in the arena later. Let's see what you think after this.

From Konvinax's side, The Ripper launches himself to the fight. The claws of his blurry, unseen figure glows with green flame for a moment as he strikes with them towards the Shadow Lord's head. With an acrobatic, whirling move he avoids any retaliation as swiftly as a bolt of lighting, and finally, the insectoid becomes visible as he spreads his wings and flies 60 feet above.

"[Clickclickclick]Your death is near, Shadow Lord, and mine are the fists of DEATH! [Crrrlclackclackclack!!!]"

And there, The Ripper's claws suddenly shift into a pair of fists that open ready to unleash the very essence of death. Mystical energies from unknown realms of arcane power gather around his hands, forming two rather large pulsing red orbs that zap the air around them with rays similar to the proverbial bolts of lightning. Pushing his hands forward, The Ripper unleashes his power in form of massive, crimson-red lightning towards Konvinax. As he does this, The Ripper looks ar Syra and sends a telepathic message to her.

Hopefully that will provide enough distraction for you to finish this battle quickly, if not, I will have to bring forth my biggest weapon yet. I don't really want to use it, but I will if I have to.

The Ripper's attack is targeted directly at Konvinax's essence, so it shouldn't be able to hurt anyone else.
Lord_Gareth

05-12-07, 02:41 PM
The shadow lord easily, laughably, parries The Ripper's claws, and openly begins laughing as the death attack comes hurtling towards him. With an idle gesture, it fizzles out.

You're not thinking, insect. I have nothing but respect for your kin, but you are not living up to my standards. And you, celestial, are thinking along the right lines, but with the wrong use. Light only deepens my shadow. I am the shadow at the edge of all light.

His tone is educational, relaxed, and he parries Syra's next assault, sending tendrils of shadow to intercept his daughter's darkness and wrestle with it. And as he does so, the abominations of blood and shadow reach the battle, throwing themselves at Neme, the Ripper, and anyone else they can find.

LeVeldrin would have smiled at his daughter's ingenuity, if only the monsters of the blood and darkness would hold back long enough for him to. He grabs one being that gets too close and crushes the being's head with his hand that seems too small yet manages to accomplish the job. The beast collapses to the ground convulsing, his head a slightly more bloody perforated sac of ooze.

The sandman stares at his next opponent, this being drops to the ground immediately, holding his head and screaming in unimaginable pain. The sandman perks up for a moment and his corporeal body collapses instantaneously into a splash of sand that fades from view before it even hits the ground. He reappears even more quickly then he disappeared, beside his daughter and just in time to intercept the claws of one of the shadow blood monsters. The claws tear through him with the sound of rock scraping agaisnt sandpaper, LeVeldrin only looks at the shadow/blood beast.

The beast's last vision is of his claw marks reforming and the cold sandy brown eyes of the sandman. The beast suddenly explodes in a rain of gore and shadows along with three more of his kin that had moved within the sandman's ten foot patrol radius of his daughter.

Neme - and all others looking - notice two things. The first is that Konvinax is utterly unaffected by the light-based attack, indeed only seeming all the darker for the white light around him. The second is Syra's scream of pain as her shadows are stripped away and her skin begins to boil and burn.

It don't look like any of my ways are working." She turns him taking his place from protecting her and holds the attackers off of him so he can work with Syra to help her.

While protecting LeVeldrin from attack a swing cuts through her leg, but she isn't wounded. Seeing as her father is a sandman she has some of his abilitys, when the swing hit her that part of her turned to water and let it go through without harm. Over the time span of her protecting her father and having many more swings at he she slowly learns to control her newly found ability using it against them.

The sandman nods at Neme's words and mumbles a word. As he finishes this short hard word, a area of darkness surrounds the fallen and burned Syra. Satisfied that his spell is complete, he turns back around to see Neme kill one of the minions of blood and darkness.

He points his outstretched finger at another blood/darkness beast that had come up behind his daughter. From the tip of his hand flies a tiny projectile, a grain of sand shot forth from his finger and struck the beast straight through his eye. The sand zipped straight through his eye and exited from the back of his head with an explosion of brains and blood and the shreds of darkness and shadow that serve as skin for the beings.

"[Crrlickclickclick] Fine, so you managed to evade my first moves, but [Crrlick click] lets see how you like when I shower you [Clickclickclick] with unimaginable pain!"

As the blood and shadow creatures reach out to touch The Ripper, the insectoid's body glows brightly purple and yellow aura of light, utterly annihilating the essence from abominations of Konvinax. Those few who survive, The Ripper snags off with well-placed roundhouse kicks and claw strikes that burn and destroy the creatures with authority.

When the last creature falls, The Ripper's claws shift once again into hands. The insectoid raises his right hand above him as if to catch something that is falling towards him from the "sky".

"[Click click] Now watch closely, this is where your reign of terror ends! [Crrlick] Karashi the Godblade, the great overlord deity of all weapons! [Clickclickclick] It is I, your servant The Ripper! [Crrlick click] I summon thee to aid my quest in this darkest hour!"

And there in a massive flash of green light, appears a huge, nearly six feet long, green-bladed two-handed sword to The Ripper's enclosed right hand. The sword flashes again, but this time even more brightly. The flash launches a great shockwave that annihilates the rest of the blood and shadow creatures in the area, but leaves Konvinax unaffected.

Bartelemus has not moved throughout the entire confrontation. He stands in silent horror at the sight slowly emerging from the vanishing mists...

A slim figure, that of a girl still years from adulthood, steps languidly from the fleeting shadows. But if she is Bartelemus's daughter, such resemblance melted away long ago...for the girl is barely recognizable.

Her face, once obviously quite beautiful, is cracked and mangled, great ichorous splits tearing through her pale skin, staining her cheeks red with blood. Her eyelids are sown shut, crusted blood seeping from the corners where the frayed thread is pulling up, and crimson drops run from her nostrils and ears, falling down her tattered and ruined raiments to fall about her.

Her mouth is open in a silent, unending scream, as if she was in constant agony, but she advances nonetheless, flakes of skin falling her limbs as she walks. The raw, festering wounds barely have time to begin seeping terrible fluids before some unseen force seals them up...

And as she reaches out toward Bartelemus, he simply stands paralyzed, staring at the monstrous figure, tears running freely down his face. And then her hand touches his chest...and goes straight through. The aging man falls to the ground, doubled over, blood rushing out of his mouth, nostrils and ears in crimson torrents. His face blanches, and his thin limbs thrash once...twice...and then lie still.

Larz is taking a vacation, apparantly, so I'm going to put his character someplace safe.

It is a fortunate thing indeed that Syra is too focused on her father to see what has happened to Bartlemaeus. However, her sister is not. Syla barks out a command in a language that only her intended victim understands - the blood god possesing the aged sage's daughter.

The trident, her circlet, the ring on her left hand and her holy symbol all flash, some with light and others with shadow, and an incredible sense of power floods the room as four seperate blasts slam into the possesed daughter - the combined power of four gods behind it. With a raging battlecry, Syra's twin charges to the attack, goddess-trident swinging.

"Perhaps distracting it physically, will weaken its resolve."

He raises his arms, one at first and then the other, and turns them in slow, intricate patterns. He feels the blood in his his veins warm and sing the magic of his spirits. From out of his body crawl huge, etheral looking dragons. Syra looked at Bartlemaeus and cried out, but her father moved to intercept the girl, interposing himself between her and her friend.

The aged sage's voice echoed in her mind, saying the word over and over.

All at once, the darkness in the room flees, leaving only Konvinax. It is hard to tell why, until you look closer.
