| TheCrawlingSpleen07-16-07, 03:32 AM | As I've mentioned on the d20 Modern boards, when I see a cool monster in a movie, I often have the urge to stat it out. Well, I recently stumbled across Blue Gender, and was once again struck by the sudden urge to stat monsters! :D My issue is this: the Blue (large insectoid predators) all have a weak spot called a "core." The core appears to be a breathing spiracle like those on real insects, and is mounted on the head. Apparently, the core is also wired to the Blue nervous system, because destroying the core instantly kills the creature. Any ideas on how to represent this mechanically? The D&D rules don't really cover the concept of aiming at a specific part of a monster, and while I've gotten some good suggestions on the D&D monster board, I figured I'd pose the question here too, since the Blue are anime creatures after all. It's not essential, since you can kill Blue the old-fashioned way (hit them enough); it's just an interesting idea that I'd like to incorporate if possible. |
