| Shiladie09-10-07, 09:59 AM | I was reading through the books of vile darkness and exalted deeds, and came accross a set of feats. Essentially these feats give meta-magic a number of times /day to ALL of the person's spell-like abilities. This was obviously meant for creatures with inate SLA's, but since all invocations + eldritch bolt are SLA's these feats seem fairly broken on these classes. The feats also have no pre-reqs, and can be taken multiple times, it's times/day stacking. an example is quicken, every invocation you have can now be quickened 1/day, with no restrictions like the other version of quicken SLA i've seen. one that seemed even worse is in BoVD, Mortal bane, +2d6 5/day, and it's not even 'evil', throw this on the aoe's that sit and do damage (chilling fog, chilling tentacles, nightmare's made real) , and instead of the 1d6-2d6/round they start doing 3d6-4d6/round, and since it has no pre-req you can take it at level 1, and your bolts do 3x their normal damage 5/day as well. it has the downside of doing half damage to outsiders undead and constructs, but you simply don't apply it when fighting them, and you do normal damage. i may be off-base with the damage over time spells getting the +2d6 every round, but still, i am suprised none of the warlock or DFA handbooks ive seen include these feats a fairly sick level 1 dueler, quicken and mortal-bane on a human warlock, 2 ranged touch attacks at 150 ft range for 3d6 damage each in 1 round |

| deathwishjoe09-12-07, 06:37 PM | mortal bane is pretty standard for low level blaster warlocks and I believe the metamagic feats for SLA were reprinted in other books and many now have requirements and other nerfege. they can still be nice but they aren't over powered. |
| Pummage09-18-07, 11:38 AM | As a big DFA player, could you point me in the direction of those other books? Also, would it be possible for you to throw the names down of some of those feats please? Thank you kindly. |
| deathwishjoe09-18-07, 11:43 AM | I believe they can be found in the same book as the warlock. complete arcane. they are named much like the metamagic feats they mimic except instead of spell at the end it says spell like ability. maximize spell >>>> Maximize spell like ability. |
| Pummage09-18-07, 11:44 AM | Thank you very much. |
| CrimsonDeath09-18-07, 12:04 PM | There are a couple in the back of the Monster Manual too. (Empower SLA and Maximize SLA, I think.) |
| Pummage09-18-07, 12:37 PM | I've been poking and the Mortalbane isn't reprinted anywhere else, what's also very cool is the uses per day you get out of it. The empowered and quickened feel a lot more restrictive. I might try and knock out a list in a bit. |
| Pummage09-18-07, 12:52 PM | Boost Spell-like Ability; Benefit: Increase save DC by 2 against your selected spell-like ability; BoVD, p. 47 Consecrate Spell-like Ability; Benefit: Adds good descriptor to spell-like ability; BoED, p. 42 Corrupt Spell-like Ability; Benefit: Add the evil descriptor to one spell-like ability; BoVD, p. 48 Empower Spell-like Ability; Increase spell-like ability's variable, numeric effects by 50%; MM, p. 303 Heighten Spell-like Ability; Benefit: Use spell-like ability at higher level up to 3/day; CA, p. 80 Maximize Spell-like Ability; Benefit: Maximize spell-like ability's variable numeric effects up to 3/day; CA, p. 81 Purify Spell-like Ability; Benefit: Adds good descriptor to spell-like ability; neutral cr. take 1/2 and good cr. take no damage; BoED, p. 45 Quicken Spell-like Ability; Use one spell-like ability as a free action; MM, p. 304 Violate Spell-like Ability; Add evil descriptor to one spell-like ability, 1/2 damage is vile damage; BoVD, p. 50 |
| Shiladie09-24-07, 11:56 AM | yes, but the point of these is that they are for ALL your invocations, so with quicken you get 1/day quickened on each of your invocations. as well these have no restrictions or prereqs, the quicken SLA i've seen in another book had restrictions based off spell level and HD Taking quicken at higher level as a warlock means you get 12+ new swift actions you can use at no cost during a fight it may just be me, but they feel like very overpowering feats once you get more invocations at higher levels |
