In my opinion, d20 Call of Cthulhu was the best system for horror, due mostly to its simplicity and more streamlined rules system. However, it suffers from being based on the largely-flawed 3.0 D&D system, and is in need of an overhaul. Does anyone know of another d20 horror system that is as simple or as fun? I imagine I'm going to have to write my own system, but I just wanted to know if anyone else had any suggestions. Thanks. |

While I acknowledge the fact that you can run horror in almost any game, I'm more looking for something that's designed specifically for horror, or at least something generic that doesn't intrude too much on the horror feel. D20 Modern might work, but it, too is 3.0 flawed, and I have no idea when they'll finally get around to updating it. |

I want to mix demon worship and mental illness (DEMONIC POSSESSION) along with paranoid people that carry crucifixes who fear the dark. |

I've started on my own rules set for modern horror, mixing in part d20 Call of Cthulhu and part Star Wars Saga Edition (for the mechanics, not the material). I want to make a low-powered magic system that only deals with the supernatural-- i.e. no fireballs or magic missiles, just banishing spells, detection spells, and wards. I may use the incantations from Unearthed Arcana as a model. |
