| aravilar_holistacia02-20-04, 09:50 PM | It was all a certain archmage could do to keep himself from throwing out the furious diatribe he longed to shout at the man making his report, but the archmage silently fumed with anger. "And that, my lord, was why we could not retrieve the Scepter," the apprentice wizard said, nervously shaking. Aravilar Holistacia merely looked at the apprentice, his glare sending a more potent message to the younger elf than words could. "Jarial," the platinum-haired archmage said, not showing any emotions on his chiseled face. The elven high mage's mismatched eyes, one blue and one gray, sparkled with inner intellegence and wisdom, and the apprentice mage did not know what the master was thinking behind those shimmering globes. Aravilar stood and walked up to the apprentice. "Jarial, you must understand, you are my third apprentice. I do not expect you to be able to locate the Scepter of Life on your first try." The apprentice blanched and said, "Was this merely a test, my lord?" Jarial shifted from foot to foot nervously. "A test it was. A test you were obviously not ready for," the black-robed archmage said. On this special robe, points of light flickered like the stars above. Aravilar was very fond of his starcloak, given to him by his wife, Keya. Presently, a blond-haired human woman walked to the archmage's door and knocked. "Enter, Tessele," Aravilar said lazily. He flicked his eyes over Jarial's shoulders to the entering woman. "My lord, a visitor is at the gates," the fair-haired woman said, and as her eyes traveled onto the now-visibly sweating Jarial, she fell silent. Aravilar smiled and said, "Jarial, you are dismissed." "My lord," the apprentice said before stepping back and brushing past Tessele, and down the spiral steps from Aravilar's office. The woman, Tessele, said, "I did not inquire as to the person's name, my lord." She looked down to the floor and said, "I apologize." Aravilar said, "It is not a problem, Tessele." The Second Apprentice nodded and said, "I shall go open the gates for you." Aravilar merely nodded, and the girl swept away, closing the door behind her. Aravilar sighed and walked to the window of his office as the slowly rising sun shed its light upon the tower. The sound of a stiff door shutting broke Aravilar's pensive thought as he whirled about to face the newcomer. "Ava, did you see who was in the foyer?" the elven woman said. She ruffled her white-feathered wings slightly and shook her long, light brown hair back from in front of her eyes. Keya Moonstar flashed her dazzling smile to Aravilar, who smiled back. "I did not," the mage said, grinning as the girl radiated her beauty. "Make haste!," the angel said, raising an eyebrow. The goddess then smiled even more widely. "Go on, make haste!" Aravilar nodded and said, "My love, I shall return quickly." As Aravilar entered the foyer, there stood a messenger bearing a scroll in his hand. Aravilar's face turned from an expression of serenity to a countenance of tension. "Lord Aravilar, I am Leryn Hightower, messenger of the Princess Alusair of Cormyr," the man in leather armor said seriously. "My respects to the throne, messenger. What brings you to me?" Aravilar said, silently wondering about the duly noted tension in the air. The messenger hesitated slightly before saying, "In Cormyr, my lord, many famlies are even now attempting to overthrow the Princess. There are open battles in the nighted streets, and subtle conflicts of words in the Princess's court. And the rumor may yet hold true of the Sembians attacking from the east." Aravilar mildly said, "The Mage Royal must have her hands full." The other man said, slightly annoyed, "Lady Caladnei is more than busy, lord Aravilar. But that is not why I have come to you with tiding from the Princess." The messenger brandished the scroll and opened it, handing it to the archmage. Aravilar read the message aloud. "To the Lord High Mage Aravilar Holistacia: In about one day's time after you read this message, there will be a court ball held in the palace which all the high nobility and several others will be attending. I hope to see you there, as you have done much for Cormyr. Princess Alusair Obarskyr." Aravilar lightly rolled up the parchment and handed it to the messenger. "Tell your Lady I shall attend, with some much--" Aravilar's sentence was cut short, as a gleaming ball of white and red energy appeared next to him, shimmering madly. The obvious sending spell blared out, "Aravilar, the Princess is dead." The archmage blinked twice in rapid succession, not believeing the words of the female voice. "Excuse me, my Lady Caladnei? What did you say?" The globe sparkled and said, "Alusair was killed three hours ago by an unknow assassin. But it was drow. We found the insignia of House Despana on her body." Aravilar looked down and said, "Mystra aid me, but how did this assassin get to the Princess?" The messenger looked quite pale and very ill. Caladnei said, "I do not know. But I suggest you come here as soon as you can. The Drow have begun the attack on Suzail, and the capital will not hold forever." The globe faded out, leaving Aravilar stunned and the messenger, Leryn, in tears. "I must away to the palace," Aravilar said lightly, and he opened a portal, stepping through and appearing inside the most chaotic of households in all of Faerun. ((OOC: Welcome all, to my newest RP adventure. This is open to all who wish to continue this story... which is already set up for some intrigue and conflict. Most floating around him in a circle as he wrote down what he saw on parchment. This was one of many libraries located in the Palace, and Agudo had visited most of them. “I must say Elvin lore is such a wonderful thing to study when you’re standing in the heart of Elfdom.” At that moment, Lady Hoot who was having a conversation with a traveling Halfling scholar from the east. They had just finished and the short but sweet eastern woman gave Hoot a gift. “Why thank you Shanza, may I open it now?” For it was wrapped in that famous eastern silk that they were known for. Shanza shook her head smiling, explaining it was best to wait for tonight celebration and walked away. The wise snow owl then responded to the wizards musings, as Shanza walked away. “Yes knowledge is the key to wisdom, when used with prudence of Elvin lore” Agudo was reading quickly as he could taking in everything with great interest, yet stopped what he was writing as he looked at Lady Hoot. “Do you thing the we have time for a few more hours here? Or should we get ready for the party?” Lady Hoot considerd this and nodded her head. “We have just a few minutes before we need to go” |

Name: Liet Sou'kini Age: 24 Race: Human Class: Druid/Ranger (Sandstalker) Encounter Level: Adjusted, according to power required for both competence and challenge within the adventure. Standing in at a decent two metres, this figure's form is hidden by a heavily tattered, tan cloak hanging from his shoulders, concealing the athletic build within. Those granted a glance beneath his cloak see a snug body suit made of fine leather, which seems to conceal both moisture and sound alike. His boots are well-worn, yet aid in keeping his steps as silent as the shifting of dunes. His features are heavily tanned, youthful, and devoid of scar or scratch, yet his bright blue eyes have a strange look of calculation and intelligence behind them, as if assessing any who approach him. Straight, deep black hair which very faintly conceals his eyes is cut around the centre of the ear, and despite it's unruly appearence, remains clean, save for a few grains of sand. His hands are covered by dark tan gloves, a ring of sandstone with red and yellow streaks concealed underneath the left hand's glove, another ring holding a brilliant ruby within it's golden grasp underneath the right. Travelling lower, you notice two weapons that seem to blend in with his dark tan suit, an off-white dagger blade, and a straight, masterfully crafted scimitar, appearently made of a single chunk of granite. Adorning his hip are several small pouches of the same color. Along his left thigh is a leather toolkit of sorts, held in place by a belt, opposite it rests two delicate-looking daggers, seemingly made more streamlined than the weapon on his hip, and it doesn't take much of a guess to figure out their intent as throwing weapons. His voice carries a heavy accent of drylands decent, his R's rolling and inappropriate syllables being exxagurated, but his low, quiet voice manages to make it seem natural...and he honestly doesn't seem to notice his errors. | aravilar_holistacia02-22-04, 02:58 PM | It was the most hectic scene imaginable. Aravilar appeared inside the throne room of the late Princess, where a scene was unfolding that rivaled even the most horrible of halfling "festivals". Along the perimeter of the room, mages were furiously casting spells to discern the assassin's location. Soldiers were inspecting every possible way into the room. Servants were hastily bringing supplies into the room and taking messages out, and in the midst of all this, a sorceress clad in red and gold robes, and a very old looking mage in grey stood on the raised platform of the throne. The two arcane casters seemed as though they were conferring on something. Aravilar looked about, but when the sorceress in red caught sight of him, all the Nine Hells broke loose. "Aravilar!" the woman said, shaking with nervousness and slight annoyance. "You come at a very bad time." Aravilar raised a careful eyebrow and said, "You summoned me, my lady Caladnei?" The sorceress furiously stepped down from the platform and walked towards the elven mage. Aravilar bowed to the woman and said, "I come at your request." The woman said, with obvious disgust, "I know I called you. Get up." Aravilar rose and said, "How did a drow assassin assassinate the most protected woman in the Dales?" The sorceress' eyes flashed daggers at Aravilar. "If I knew that, the entire army would be in the Underdark by now." From the throne, the old, greying wizard chuckled slightly. "Aravilar, my lord, do not be troubled by the Mage Royal's brashness. She speaks from the heart, not the mind," the old wizard said, walking slowly towards the elf. "Vangerdahast, it is an honor," Aravilar said to the ex-Mage Royal. The grey wizard waved off that comment. "Please, Aravilar. Caladnei needs advice." "How now, my elven mage, do you propose I go about fixing this problem? Who now to sit on the throne?" the woman, Caladnei, said. "I was to suggest you, my lady," Aravilar said. The court became very quiet. All eyes were on the Mage Royal, Caladnei. The sorceress whirled about and stormed off into the castle, her cloak trailing behind her. Aravilar sighed and said, "Everyone, please continue with your chores. I will try and deal with this. And yes, the party will commence soon." The court rapidly became noisy again. Aravilar raised an eyebrow at the greying wizard Vangerdahast, and the wizard merely stared back at the elf. |
| aravilar_holistacia02-22-04, 03:23 PM | "It is not every day that the Tower is so full of people!" The white-feathered angel, Keya Moonstar, the avatar of the elven goddess Hanali Celanil, moved about the Tower that day with a grace only a goddess could possess. The elven woman smiled as she came into the room where Aravilar's third apprentice was sitting, looking through a book. "How did the Scepter search go, Jarial?" the girl said, ruffling her feathers a bit. "Very poorly, my lady," the apprentice said, before looking back to the book. "Do not fret, apprentice... Aravilar can be fairly stern in his teachings, but there is no better mage in the Western Heartlands to learn from." The girl then noticed another archmage sitting down near the apprentice. "Welcome to my lord's keep, mage! I am Aravilar's wife, Keya. 'Tis a pleasure to meet you. Pray tell, who might you be?" The girl nodded to the Archmage Mckinley. |
| kulideb02-22-04, 03:32 PM | Sams tummy moaned again, she only had a few coins left. She walked about the city, she had never been in such a busy place before. The people pushed past, not noticing her. Some thing seemed to have happened, she caught bits of conversations but it was hard to work out what was being said. The rumours ranged from a mad dragon to drow to a royal princess missing. Sam guessed that some thing had happened as the city was buzzing she just wasnt sure what, but if some thing had happened then may be they would need soldiers. And she could do with the money. She brushed her clothes down, ran a hand through her hair and walked up to the city barracks. She gave a cough, smiled at the man on duty. "Any work going?" |

Just yesterday, I cast my shaping spell slightly off and he was furious! But, I can expect he is better than some other master. After a few minutes, the mage walked to the throne and stood in front of the assembled crowd. "Let us away to the party; there will be no speech of this matter until the Mage Royal tells her part of the story. I will not suffer news of the Princess' death to be revealed by any in this room," Aravilar said, and when he finished, he walked out of the room through a door to the left of the throne, and down into the ballroom. |

(( Track Feat, and insane Wilderness Lore and Search. :P. As for why he spat at Aravilar...a sign of respect. His magic staff tapping away as he did so, then about half way in he stopped and took in the view of the ornate room.. The long thick glass windows arched upward as the sun rays filtered in. Nobles and royalty milled about with servants, who were dashing back and forth with refreshments for the guests. “Not a lot of people here yet, wise friend” Agudo said as he turned his head to look at the lovely white snow owl; who set comfortably on his right shoulder. Lady Hoot was not surprised for the tragic news had dampened the sprits of city dwellers. “The real question is why the celebration is happening at all?” As the wise owl spoke, he reached into the folds of his cape and took out his classic corn corncob pipe. As if it was always lit, the pip began to smoke even as it was removed from his pocket. Taking a few puffs that filled the near by room with the sweet smell of apple cinnamon. Agudo answered his companions question. “As you my wise friend already know, rumor has it,… and I believe to be true that Availar thinks that the *Murderer* is still here. The scholarly mage eyes the room and adds the last part for effect. “Most likely someone in this very palace…. or so we all hope.” Lady Hoot nodded her head, for that was the logical conclusion “I agree as well, it also says a lot about who does not come to the party. Aravilar may have had the city gates watched to see if anyone will try to escape. Agudo took a few more puffs then accepted a cup of Elvin Sweet Water from an attendant. Taking a sip he then reaches up and removes his classic floppy hat. “Unlike the fashion conches Elminster, I for one can remember my manners and remove my hat when I enter a room.” His owl companion could not help but give a small laugh, do to the fact that Agudo and Elminster had an on going, yet friendly competition on who had the pointiest hat. “Wizards and their clothing” She shook her head a few times then asked something new. “Speaking of competitive wizards! Where is Vangerdahast? For we have yet to give him the handwritten message from two old friends.” The Archmage remembered she was right and thought of something else as well. “Yes Vangerdahast had promised me an hour or two in private conversation, on his adventures against Khahan and the barbarian horde.” |

Aravilar walked quickly into the ballroom, his starry, twinkling cloak swirling about behind him as he walked onto the ballroom's dance floor. "Guests of the Crown, please be seated," Aravilar said, silencing the court with a glare. The mage looked around the crowd and as his eyes crossed a familiar face, his expression changed from serious to jovial. "Agudo!" Aravilar called to the Archmage of Light. "My friend, you have come! I was hoping you would take time off from the school to visit us." ((OOC: This takes place pre-War, same time as the School)) Aravilar made his way through the crowd towards the Archmage and Lady Hoot, but at that moment, the Mage Royal, Caladnei, stepped forward from a side door and the court quieted. Aravilar waited to hear her words. ~~~~~ Jarial nodded to Mckinley. "Powerful practitioners of the death magics often drain their apprentices life energies to power their spells, my lord Archmage." The apprentice looked back into his spellbook, studying. ((OOC: You guys *can* post without me! Sorry about the absence of myself... Busy week. :D)) |

Aravilar nodded to Agudo and looked towards the Mage Royal. "A dreadful turn of events has left the nation of Cormyr without a ruler," the sorceress began. A loud uproar began in the ballroom. "Quiet!" Aravilar said, and again the room was silenced. "There is no current heir to the throne, save the infant King Azoun," the sorceress continued. "In short, we are in need of a ruler." It was almost like a board game. Families crowded together in the ballroom, and began to shout at the Mage Royal. "We are the true heirs to the throne!" called one, and that began a long series of verbal warnings and threats against the sorceress Caladnei. Finally, Aravilar stepped up to the raised stage and said, "Silence, all of you! There is no cause for this arguing; the new ruler of Cormyr will be decided by people more trustworthy than a group of angered high nobles!" The warnings and threats were turned on Aravilar now. The mage, seemingly not noticing the scathing remarks against him, said, "I suggest you return to your homes." Aravilar caught Agudo's eye and said, "I would like my friends to stay here and counsel the Mage Royal." |

Just as the crowd was being ushered out a Elvin maiden came up and grabbed his hat and put it on Hoot. “Do I know you?” Agudo says as he takes out his spectacles and places them on. Lady Hoot peeked under the hat with surprise and wonder. Yet before anything else could be said, Aravilar spoke to them about helping in the matter. “Yes! Yes High Mage Avavilar it would be an honor to help guide a fellow practitioner in the Art such a the Mage Royal here” The Archmage of Light walks up and gives a polite bow. “Has anyone seen Vangerdahast?
