| RazielK01-08-07, 07:53 PM | I am trying to find a way to make Dante in my games, along with his weapons, but I find him rather impossible. I have several major questions and I was wondering if anyone can answer them for me, I have a few responses. Anyone who has made ANYTHING from DMC, please show off their work. On top of that, I would like to try and actually build him, maybe we could mix and match regular DnD with d20 Modern? 1. How do you do Devil Trigger (I was thinking of having him take the Barbarian class and making the weapons give him different abilities while he Rages/Devil triggers. Alastor would give him Fly, Fast Healing and a few Lightning Spells at will until the end of the trigger. 2. What TYPE of Demon is he? (I only ask this because I have a supplement that allows me to build customized Half-Fiend, but it is not that necessary. If nobody has an idea, then I just need to know how to appropriately reduce LA for taking away the spells.) 3. Finally: HOW IN THE NAME OF BAHAMUT DO YOU MAKE HIS WEAPONS!? I mean, Sparda is ridiculously strong, Epic at very least and Nevan is a friggin GUITAR! |
| RazielK01-08-07, 10:36 PM | Come On Guys I Need Some Help Here Lol! I Gave Some Of My Own Ideas, Doesn't Anyone Else Like Devil May Cry!? |
| RazielK01-09-07, 11:08 AM | Guys, 15 responses and no replies? |
| id33101-09-07, 11:44 AM | I have the same dillemma I like the rage Idea thou |
| Shin_Koryu8801-09-07, 12:37 PM | To create Dante you have to create a new template basing on Half-Fiend however. However, doing Dante of DMC3 is more simple... I suggest to start by DMC3. To start, however I have done Yamato, Vergil's katana.... (However, for devil arms, I think the magical bonus can be done in this manner: count the HD of monsters, and when Dante takes a weapon after killing the demon, the weapon has a +1 encha *Yamato = large katana keen vorpal berserker demon arrows deflecting +5 special attacks = 1) judgment cut = charging killing strike. If a enemy doesn't save a Fortitude check, he dies splitted in two. 2) thunder blows?? (I can't remember the name) = With a ranged touch attack (or something else), Vergil does 3d6 of sonic damage with a single attack. *Cerberus = three-sections nunchaku ice burst +5 (1d6) flurrying strikes berserker demon (it has the capacity to launch a flurry of blows). Ice damage: 3d6. *Agni&Rudra = two falchions of fire and wind demon berserker +3. This weapons deals +3d6 fire damage and +3d6 air damage. I need more concentraion to make them however... |
| RazielK01-09-07, 08:21 PM | I am trying to base him off of what I know for DMC4. He uses Rebellion (yes Rebellion, not Sparda) Ebony and Ivory and a sawed off Shotgun. So my only real problem is the species, Rebellion and Devil trigger. |
| RazielK01-11-07, 09:52 PM | Hello? |
| Shin_Koryu8801-18-07, 03:09 PM | Ehy! I'm here... For make Dante, I've created a new class, called Demon Hunter. Well, now I have a question.... Does Dante have levels from outsider class? I think yes.... or well, if he haven't it, Dante's class... Well, why don't we start to think to any idea to create DMC world? It's not to hard.... there many harder things to make in Dungeons & Dragons, like Fist Of The North Star or Dragon Ball. |
| Kaiosama21401-18-07, 05:50 PM | For the weapons....Weapons of legacy. Easy enough to make lots of cool special abilities for that. As for the devil-trigger, Create some custom Vestiges (from Tome of Magic) which the weapons each give use of once you complete the first legacy ritual. |
| RazielK01-19-07, 01:54 PM | Any changes to the half demon templates? I don't think he has the Spell Like abilities, is there an LA reduction for that? (Maybe swap it out for a rage?) Instead of Smite Good we give him Smite Evil. I am making an Epic (lvl 55) Gestalt campaign, and I think it can make him perfectly. (I would give the levels but I don't have the Tome of Magic on me) ?? Soulbinder (Is that the right name for it?)/Barbarian 30 Ranger (specializing in Two Handed Fighting and favored enemy of Demons and Devils)/Fighter 3 Exotic Weapon Master I would give him classes from D20 modern but I don't know how to convert it, lol. Anyone know how to? |
| Shin_Koryu8801-20-07, 01:30 PM | I have some sort of changings for half-demon template. -loses all spell-like abilities and smite good -gains no natural weapons. He has only unarmed strikes just like humans. -immunity to all poisons -fire, cold, lightning and acid resistance 10 -spell resistance equal to character level or hit dice +10 (max 35) -in damage reduction I need a help -fast healing 5 -Devil Awakening = I want an help to this ability too. -an half-demon can be of any chaotic alignment or any evil. He can be chaotic good (Dante), chaotic neutral, or lawful evil (Vergil), neutral evil or chaotic evil. -slowfall (?) -ehy don't you think at somekind of power that absorb demonic blood after defeating enemies? I think it can be a cool ability. -+4 or +6 natural armor I think |

I really think that Kaiosama214 had the best idea, making custom Vestiges that he binds with for Devil trigger and just say that ht binds them through the respective weapons. |
| Shin_Koryu8801-21-07, 07:13 AM | well, actually it can be hard to do.... and actually is only a game action! In mission 7, while Vergil defeats Dante with his katana, after being defeated, Dante wake up and become stronger and even his greatsword, Rebellion, become stronger. And in game terms, Dante starts to use Devil Trigger. However, this can be a normal experience-points based level up, but however I think it's pretty hard to do in D&D. Well, I think it's Ok to do Devil Trigger with Vestiges. Well, why don't we try to do anything? |
| RazielK01-21-07, 01:31 PM | This is from another Thread I am on: I'm going to have to call a temporary hiatus on the Samus build for a period of a week or two, due to real life circumstances. Those circumstances being, of course, the aforementioned insight into the Dante build, a discussion at a recent gaming session, and an unusual array of circumstances that resulted in what, for the lack of a better term, could be called a bet. In short, I'm going to be hammering out the Dante build before Samus. If this takes more than a week or so, I'll go immediately back to work on her, but for now this takes precedence. Anyways, The build will be more or less following Dante's incarnation in DMC 3. Instead of approximating the switching abilities that come with the different styles, I'll try to obtain all of their functions at once. Race: (Lesser) Tiefling. In D&D terms, the Half-Fiend's abilities are both much too overt and require too many levels to approximate Dante correctly. Hell, a normal human could work fine. Base Class: Psion or Ardent, likely the latter. Powers seem to work better for Dante's abilities than spells. Devil Trigger: DT gives several effects of note, including increased speed, increased damage, fast healing, some reduction in damage taken, and a look that wouldn't be out of place at either a modern art gallery or a rave. My current idea for this is to Link Power Planar Apotheosis to another buff power of some sort. Gaining Devil Trigger: Is there something that lets you leech power points on a hit? If so, spending the saved up points on the DT combo would work perfectly. If not, I'm going to have to figure out some other way of doing things. Devil Trigger Explosion: Simple; spend your DT combo power points on some sort of massively damaging emanation effect. I'll need to find an appropriate power, but I know that one is out there. Dual Wielding: Dante needs access to at least the first tier of the TWF tree. (Or maybe even MWF, if feet count in Beowulf's case.) After all, he uses both hands with Ebony & Ivory, Agni & Rudra, and Beowulf. Dash/Star Dash/Air Trick: You could cover these with all the different sorts of mobility powers out there, but Inconsistent Location should be enough for our purposes. Wall Run/Wall Hike: Up the Walls; simple enough. Really, I'm not sure on this one. Perhaps Hostile Empathic Transfer, combined with Karmic Strike and Opportunity Power? I'd like to say Temporal Acceleration, excepting that you can't physically attack while it happens to be in effect. A small melee nova may be a good choice here. Fission, no doubt. Next. Included in the relevant weapon sections. Tomorrow I'll be working on the weapons. The use of powers (especially of the elemental damage sort) look to be a must for these, at least in my opinion. (At the least, I'm thinking that Nevan is more a weapon better approximated by manifesting than attacking.) Here is the link: http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=424838&page=19 |
| Shin_Koryu8801-22-07, 01:30 PM | yeah... I haven't understood... Do you consider Dante a Tiefling? I think a tiefling for Dante is really weak. Considering Dante how a epic character however! |
| RazielK01-22-07, 07:21 PM | By DMC 1 and 3 (I don't believe DMC 2 ever existed.) he is a half-demon. However, from DnD stats, there are several abilities that Dante doesn't have altogether or just has during DT. |
| Shin_Koryu8801-23-07, 12:44 PM | Well, the archetype must be another, not the Half-Fiend! I think Half-Demon I have done can be good. I'm thinking about one thing... Instead trying to do games equals things, why don't create a world with many of special games' abilities, weapons and attacks but using other characters? This will be funnier and more simple. Answer me. |
| mikeloop8602-08-07, 08:47 PM | Dante: CN Teifling Fast Hero 2/Strong Hero 2/Tough 1/Gunslinger 5/BattleScion* 10 *BattleScion is from Unearthed Arcana, and is basically the original archtype prestige class for characters who focus in wielding a Specific, unique weapon. Basically, using the rules from UA, make a ten-level progression for Alastor, Ifrit, Sparda, etc, and give Dante the special ability to have his levels count for each of them but only 1 unique weapon at a time (No duel weilding Ifrit and Sparda! Bad Dante! Bad!). This way you allow dante to get all those cool abilities from Alastor and Ifrit, and yet make sure he has the awesome Gunslinging abilities. Hope this helps! |
| Striker502-17-07, 01:17 AM | Hello! I've been thinking about this for a short while (about 2 hrs ago) and have a slightly different take. I would have him as a fighter 15/soulknife 5 these are minimums of course. His mindblades would serve as ebony and ivory (in a D &D world with no firearms) At lv 5 soulknife he could throw as many as attacks he could have in a round. I would have him max out in two-weapon fighting feats and range feats to ignore firing into melee, etc. He would also spend as many feats in greatsword as possible for rebellion: power attack, weapon focus, weapon spec, cleave, etc. I wasn't sure how to do the devil trigger stuff. I had in mind the half fiend but it is a bit powerful to have all of the time. I was thinking to tone it down to a +1 level adjustment so that the benefits gained are enough to allow him to pass for a human. Some Ability bonuses, darkvision, etc (haven't narrowed it down completely yet) I thought a racial feat such as half fiend devil trigger would allow more significant benefits but for only 1 round per character level per day. It would be an immediate action and the rounds could be spread out during the day. Benefits during devil trigger could be wings for fly speed, DR, Resistance, SR, Natural attacks, spell-like abilities. I think a blood line could work as well, I think the rules are in the Unearthed Arcana. I'll check on it and get back... Striker5 |
| RazielK02-17-07, 12:48 PM | Major Bloodline in Demon? People have suggested him as a Tiefling... |
| Striker502-19-07, 09:59 PM | Demon spawn Race: Description: Demonic blood is in your family genealogy and has been latent for sometime. The appearance is identical to humans but they are more agile and stronger than most humans. They are often less concerned with their actions and are prone to be chaotic in nature: Racial Traits: +2 Str, +2 Dex, -2 Wis. Darkvision 60 ft. Medium creature, speed 30 ft. Demon Spawn FEATS: Demon Spawn Heritage: Pre-Req: Demon Spawn Race Your latent demonic blood is more prevalent and you gain the following benefits: Natural Armor Bonus of +1 +1 hit point for every Demon Spawn Heritage Feat you have including this one. Devil Trigger: Pre-Req: Demon Spawn Race, Demon Spawn Heritage, Character Level 3rd Benefits: 3/day can activate a devil trigger state as an immediate action (no AOO) that lasts 1 round per every 3 character levels you have. The devil trigger state can be ended early before all the rounds are expended but it still uses up one use for the day. Benefit: During devil trigger you gain the following benefits Similar to Half Fiend p148 MM- • Immune to poison • Gain wings and fly speed equal to base land speed (average maneuverability) • Gain natural attacks as magic weapons for overcoming DR (see pg 148 MM under half-fiend) • Racial ability increases of the following: Str +2, Dex +2, Cha +2 • SR equal to HD + 10 (max 21) • Resistance to cold 5, acid 5, electricity 5, and fire 5 • DR 5/ magic • Smite (good) =once per day see page 148MM. • Gain spell like abilities only through 10 HD. If an ability says only once per day, it can only be used once despite multiple devil trigger uses. See table on page 148 MM. Improved Devil Trigger: Pre-Req: Demon Spawn Race, Demon Spawn Heritage, Devil Trigger and Character level 11th Benefits: The following changes take place in your devil trigger state and supercede the previous benefits. • Racial ability increases of the following: Str +4, Dex +4, Cha +2, Con +2 • SR equal to HD + 10 (max 35) • Resistance to cold 10, acid 10, electricity 10, and fire 10 • DR 10/ magic • Can begin using spell like abilities beyond 11 HD Extra Devil Trigger: Pre-Req: Demon Spawn Race, Demon Spawn Heritage, Devil Trigger Benefits: Gain 1 extra use of Devil Trigger ability per day. Normal: can use Devil Trigger 3/day This feat can be taken multiple times, each selection offering 1 additional use of Devil Trigger per day. This is an attempt at putting DT (Devil Trigger) into D&D terms, any feedback would be appreciated. It seems on the powerful side but I’ll see what responses I get. This could also go for a Celestial Spawn Race Character with Angel Trigger Feats. I came up with this idea after looking through the Complete Psionic and seeing the Illithid Heritage feats/prestige class. I wanted to stay away from the prestige class scene to allow “Dante” to explore other classes while maintaining DT. I figure all the weapons he has are artifacts and give him extra abilities. There was a thread on here somewhere that had a pretty good breakdown of the weapons. Hope this all makes sense! :D Striker5 |
| Striker502-26-07, 04:17 PM | Any feedback from anyone? I would just like to know if this is too overpowered or if there are any suggestions... Thank you! Striker5 |
| RAGNAROKISCOMING200703-14-07, 11:35 PM | Nice idea! Lets collaborate and make DMC d20! well....... |
| Shin_Koryu8803-16-07, 03:59 PM | We must decide if make Devil Trigger available based on half-demonic blood of Dante or based on the devil arms. I think it's better based on devil arms, and make for example Rebellion (for sure) a weapon of legacy that turns Dante in Devil Trigger. - Half-demon template. I think damage reduction just as an half-fiend, immunity to poison and energy resistances equal to 10. He is a native outsider, he haven't wings, he has no more natural weapons (consider it the unarmed strikes as magic weapons). Well, then I think Str +4, Dex +4, Con +2, Cha +4. Then, a fast healing equal to half his hit dice (increased in devil trigger). One special attack, smite 1/day as the Destruction magic power of domain. SR just as half-fiend (hit dice +10) (max 35). Level Adjustment I think +4. What do you think about the template? |
| RazielK03-16-07, 04:28 PM | I think the Fast Healing based on HD makes the LA +5 or +6. Give him a fixed Fast Healing, like..5. Then have the varying weapons increase the Fast Healing. DT is NOT something the weapons do, it is a Special Quality. He just channels DT through the weapons to change forms. |
| Shin_Koryu8803-17-07, 01:33 PM | well I think the level adjustment will raise. Well, I think the Devil Trigger can be a barbiarian rage with an increased fast healing during one round. |
| RazielK03-17-07, 08:27 PM | Personally, I think you should make it a Prestige Class. (Sorta like the Epic Barbarian.) Prereqs are Ranger, Proficiency in weapon and like...21 ranks in Intimidate or somethin like that. You make it a rage and have it generic. Then you make different weapons that augment the rage appropriate. |
| the_unthinkable05-09-07, 12:39 PM | What happened? How come no one here is posting anything new? |
| RAGNAROKISCOMING200705-12-07, 10:35 PM | oops kind of forgot........................i'll post somethin soon though......... |
| the_unthinkable05-15-07, 11:45 AM | Ok then. Can't wait. |
| Kord's Boon05-15-07, 02:32 PM | For the weapons....Weapons of legacy. Easy enough to make lots of cool special abilities for that. As for the devil-trigger, Create some custom Vestiges (from Tome of Magic) which the weapons each give use of once you complete the first legacy ritual. Good call, on both counts. Though as far as the weapons go I don’t think you necessarily need to go out of core. For instance: Alastor: +3 Speed, Shock, Throwing, Thundering, great-sword. Ifrit: +4 Flaming Burst, Ki Focus, gauntlets. In addition, any character wielding Ifrit receive a +4 profane bonus to strength. Sparda: +6 Keen, Anarchic, Bane (outsider: evil) great-sword(?). Would also need to apply the intelligent item rules to these weapons as well. |
| the_unthinkable05-17-07, 11:45 AM | Remember that the Sparda sword can be thrown and when it is, it changes shape to a scythe, and when you stab with it becomes a spear. This could be just a guideline though 'cause when Dante first got the sword he tests the sword out and it changes shape to his will, seemingly. The Sparda sword is of course, the sword of Sparda, a demon who took on the legions of hell itself, fought the Dark Prince, Mundus, and defeated him. To me that sounds quite epic and should make the sword stronger than you have it down as. |
| RAGNAROKISCOMING200705-18-07, 10:01 PM | i have also done stats for the weapons........plz check it out and let me know what you think http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=809182 |
| the_unthinkable05-21-07, 12:20 PM | Those weapon stats are really cool. |
| RAGNAROKISCOMING200708-03-07, 10:11 AM | Devil Hearts. Not many know of their origin. The devil hearts have been around for ages. One thing is for sure; they are a great addition in any half-devil’s repertoire. These gems boost the power of one’s DT (Devil Trigger). They are divided into 3 groups, support, energy, and combat. These powers are automatically activated when, and only, in DT mode. Only one devil heart from each category can be equipped, meaning you can have up to three active at the same time. Combat These devil hearts boost the prowess of the half-devil in combat by enabling them to deal extra damage. Chrono- This gem is a white color. It grants the wielder two extra attacks without a penalty. Offense- This gem is a magenta color. Its bonuses include: a + 6 Strength bonus and a + 10 BAB bonus. *Dread- This gem is a gray color. While active, the first creature you hit, while Dting, is treated as if your weapon was a dread weapon against the type. For example: if you hit an evil outsider, then you’ll deal an extra 3d6 points of damage to all evil outsiders for the remainder of the DT. Energy These devil hearts grants the half-devil the ability to deal energy damage. Electric- This gem cackles with electricity. You now deal an extra 2d6 points of electric damage when attacking. Fire- This is filled with a raging fire. You now deal an extra 2d6 points of fire damage when attacking. Ice- This is filled with a raging blizzard. You now deal an extra 2d6 points of cold damage when attacking. *Dark- This gem is filled with dark energy. You now deal an extra 2d6 points of unholy damage when attacking. *Hellfire- This gem is filled with dark fire. You now deal an extra 2d6 points of hellfire damage when attacking. This damage ignores fire resistance and immunity. *Light- This gem glows a bright light. You now deal an extra 2d6 points of holy damage when attacking. Support These devil hearts boost the half-devil’s defensive capabilities and provide extra bonuses. Aerial- This crescent-shaped gem is a blue-green color. The wielder can now fly at 2 times its land speed. If the wielder already has a fly speed, they gain an extra 30ft to it. Aqua- This crescent-shaped gem is a sea green color. The wielder can now swim at 2 times its land speed and breathe underwater. If the wielder already has a swim speed, they gain an extra 30ft to it. Quick- This crescent-shaped gem is a magenta color. The wielder’s speed is doubled. They also gain a +4 bonus to Reflex saves and Dexterity. *Defense- This gem is a silver color. The wielder gains DR10/-. *Longevity- This gem is a golden color. The wielder’s DT duration is doubled. * These gems are my creation, therefore they are new additions to the original gems. |
| the_unthinkable08-09-07, 05:53 PM | I really like your heart stuff. |
| RAGNAROKISCOMING200708-10-07, 12:11 PM | I really like your heart stuff. thanks. |
| the_unthinkable09-12-07, 05:28 PM | Hey, if you can, can you write up the "Devil Bringer" from DMC 4? I now it's not out yet but look at the DMC 4 previews to see what the Devil Bringer is. (Hint it's the character Nero's right arm. Not Nelo but Nero.) |
| RAGNAROKISCOMING200709-12-07, 06:28 PM | i've seen that but i really dont know where to start. |
