| Green_eyes10-08-07, 07:46 AM | Is there any way to grow old really fast. Like magical aging and the like. More importantly, are there any player controlled means to do so? If there are then you can get arbitrary high mental stats abusing the spells Reincarnation and/or Last Breath. Last one is even better, due to lower cost per cast. One possible way is to use the wish trick with candle of incantation. P.S. The idea is generally described here (http://forums.gleemax.com/showpost.php?p=14000034&postcount=383). I just thought - why stop at living one life, when you could live many. Yeah, and if you don't think it works, explain, why. |
| Callix10-08-07, 08:27 AM | Depends on what you want. If you want rapid Material-time aging, spending a few decades on the Far Realms can age you in less than a round, but takes a lot of subjective time. If you want short subjective paths, you're outta luck; permanent ageing was one of the things 3.0/3.5 removed because it was too "screw the PCs", aimed specifically at the longer term of several, if not hundreds, of fights, while being of absolutely no utility to PCs. Unless they tried something like what you're suggesting, which would never have occured to the devs. |
| Green_eyes10-08-07, 08:36 AM | Hm... Permanent ageing would have been much better. Say, is it impossible to age via the Wish spell? |
| WombleHunter10-08-07, 09:10 AM | I think they removed permanent ageing effects-as-penalty because of the different lifespans of the races. Why play anything other than a dwarf or elf if your half-orc is going to cop it as soon as he sights his first Ghost, or steps through a Dimensional folding? I imagine a Wish or Miracle, costing XP, could age you. Expensive way to do it though... |
| Green_eyes10-08-07, 09:39 AM | Well there are ways to get a free wish. |
| Tempest Stormwind10-08-07, 03:07 PM | You aren't going to like playing through it, but the Metamind + Temporal Reiteration trick gives you an unlimited duration Temporal Acceleration. This gives you an arbitrary number of rounds to everyone else's one. To everyone else, you just get old very, very fast (although like most of the Font of Reiteration tricks, this involves not sleeping, ever, which impacts which race you can choose and conversely which age category you can reach. Some compatible races, such as warforged, also don't die of old age, meaning that you'll need to gain a level between each iteration of this trick.). |
| johnny_reb_2110-12-07, 04:39 AM | genisis lets you create a demi plane with all thetraits you want to include a faster or slower time flow... use candle of invocation to summon anything that gives wishes, wish for an unused ring of 3 wishes, wish 1 scrol of genisis (is a divine spell) wish 2 and 3 are to reincarnate yourself or last breath set with a contingency basically bring me to life when my body gets back to the mateial plane and the third should also be set with a contingency to teleport you to the material plane... get another candle and rinse and repeat |
| Lyinginbedmon10-12-07, 11:50 AM | Has anyone pointed out the issue that creatures who die of old age can't be resurrected? |
| PhaedrusXY10-12-07, 12:00 PM | Has anyone pointed out the issue that creatures who die of old age can't be resurrected?I think the idea was to commit seppuku (frisbee optional) before you die of old age, and then come back via Reincarnation, which gives you a new young body. |
| Green_eyes10-12-07, 12:30 PM | Right. Thus far the fastest way I thought of was drowning. |
| PhaedrusXY10-12-07, 01:15 PM | Right. Thus far the fastest way I thought of was drowning. It's not like it's hard to kill yourself... Why even devote a nano-second of thinking to it? |
| Green_eyes10-12-07, 01:32 PM | Cause I had nothing else to do, and my GF dumped me for another guy. That's a mighty good reason to think, how to kill yourself (= Actually the only problem is that this method while doable is just to unwieldy. Oh well, back to reading books on druids. |
| awaken_D_M_golem10-12-07, 04:47 PM | So you're 1st level. S,D,Co are 8. I,W,Ch are 15. Because of age - S,D,Co are 2. I,W,Ch are 18. Pool your starting gold, for one casting of Reincarnation, from a Druid using JulesCARV's thread, here on the TO-board. Now your 1st level S,D,Co are Badger-ific. Your armor might cost more, though I just guessing. |
| Green_eyes10-13-07, 06:57 AM | Not a badger ;) Not in 3.5 You're a humanoid. Which one is rolled on a special table. |
