| Emissary66606-13-07, 10:05 PM | Our second worst idea ever. How to make a d20 Doom. We only have doom 3, but fortunatly that is a remake of the original. The prime problem we are running into is the BFG. All help appriciated. |
| Holy_Beholder06-16-07, 05:07 PM | Second Worst? After what. And I think the BFG could be a line, everyone in that line has to make a reflex save against your attack bonus+dex modifier. It cuts through walls pretty well, so it would have to do a lot of damage. |
| Emissary66606-17-07, 05:47 PM | Second Worst? You don't want to know. But the BFG should have a higher reflex save, maybe dex mod.+attack bonus+10? |
| Xaer06-18-07, 12:49 AM | If you want the BFG to be the ultimate "YOU IS DEAD!" weapon, just go with how it actually works in Doom: BFG hits a target, and deals 100-800 damage in splash damage. After explosion, 15 smaller blasts in a cone shape fire out towards whatever you are looking at. In more d20 terms, thats a radius 30(40d6) followed by a cone 30(15d6). Even better, the cone can be directed at something different(watch a nightmare run video, runners constantly abuse it to "fire around corners") |
| j0lt06-23-07, 08:03 AM | Xaer's got it a little powerful, but going in the right direction. It should be a ranged area of effect (kinda like a fireball) |
| Holy_Beholder06-23-07, 09:33 AM | You don't want to know. But the BFG should have a higher reflex save, maybe dex mod.+attack bonus+10? Now I'm really curious. But that save will work if you want it to be the slaughter everyone weapon. I would use the burst then corner, maybe 20d4 then 8d4, that way it won't instantly kill bosses(It will come pretty close though, he he) |
| j0lt06-23-07, 12:38 PM | Who the hell has 20 d4s?! |
| Holy_Beholder06-23-07, 07:43 PM | 5d4x4=20d4. Honestly, why roll more than 5 dice? It slows down the game. An 8 die roll is just 4d?x2. A 17 die roll is 4d?x4+1d?. It really helps. |
| Strogg07-10-07, 04:49 PM | do not forget that when the BFG is fired and the ball is traveling that out from the ball it shoots a kind of lightling to ALL HOSTILES in the room or in line of sight of the ball. I also cant see why it would be a reflex save beside to maybe jump behind cover. make it a fortitude save to resist some of the dmg. dont know what the dc would be but if they make it give them only half dmg |
| Wolf_BladeGX07-14-07, 01:04 AM | I just counted them, and I have 33 D4's... why do I have 33 D4's? |
| Master_Vega07-14-07, 03:05 PM | I just counted them, and I have 33 D4's... why do I have 33 D4's? Caltrops! Make sure your players are barefoot when they're at your house. If at any time they try to harm you over a ruling, make a run for it and drop those suckers thirty-three little presents to step on! If the D4's are raw, all the better! :evillaugh ... Or you could just roll them whenever you actually need 33 d4s. |
| Mordrid Soud07-31-07, 11:07 AM | All in all I don't think it would be too difficult. I partially adapted DOOM into my Darwin's World game not too long ago. I made a "possesion" template for the soldier zombies, and used a few of the creatures as bases out of the monster manual modifying them as I saw fit, for the other creatures. I remember that for the BFG, I made it so that after the 4th use it burnt itself out, and that there was a chance for it to cause feedback to the user when fired, and made it an exotic weapon (it is a prototype after all). For the damage, all I did was multiply the damage code for a rocket launcher by 3, or maybe it was 4. Anyways, just some ideas. |
| jeepee08-25-07, 05:18 PM | Hello I'm new on this forum. I'm from Belgium (Europe) and I like d20 system. I have made a lot of settings and "home" rpg with this rules. I have made a Doom RPG, mix between the Doom III video game and the movie. It's here: http://www.jeepeeonline.be/index.php?param=P16 It's in french but I think that it's easy to translate the important parts in english. JeePee |
