Angelic Commander Rak-el, Servant of Torm, and Tyr through him, stood ready for whatever forces had decided to join her on the first charge towards the base about 10 miles away, the first attempt by Asmodeus to encrouch on the land of the Gods. Since the base had little time to be finished and prepared, Rak-el expected an easy victory. She awaits those whom she will command.

Taeldrin Laerash: Kito

Mazithra-Amakiir

04-12-05, 12:57 AM
Through the night, the Githerzai had chosen not to sleep, but to meditate and focus his mind for the upcoming battle. In his mind, he had brought to the front of his memory all that tactical maneuvers that he had learned from the Limbo. Would they be useful here? No, probably not. Yet, he would be ready nonetheless.
Early in the morning, Mazithra had made his way to the front lines where the angel had instructed all interested individuals to meet. The path was surprisingly easy to travel and, in no time at all, he saw standing ready.
Drawing his sword, he rested blade and hilt on both of his sinewy, finely-tuned muscles foreceps, and came to kneel before Rak-el.

"Greetings, my lady. Mazithra Amakiir, reporting for battle.
As I have forsworn, I have come to offer my blade and other services to this noble cause."
Taeldrin Laesrash

Reporting for duty. I will assist in any way I can. Kito awakens fresh and new from a night of rest. After announcing his arrival to Rak-El, he flies into a small area, seemingly peaceful. He crouches down, and opens the book he had carried. Flipping through the pages, he uncovers a small slot in the pages. He pulls out an amulet, shaped like an open book, made out of gold. He clutches it to him. He mutters prayers in a trance-like state, as he readies his spells for casting. He closes the book, and with a few gestures, it poofs away, into a storage space. He returns to the angel.

Donny walks over to the angel to annouce his presence"i am here to assist. may i ask do you know how big the opposing force will be?."

Rak-el smiles, nodding to each of the warriors as they approached. She looks down the tunnel now, as if to the base she knew was there. Closing her eyes in concentration, the angel whispers something under her breath. It sounds like a prayer and curse, in celestial, but her voice is too soft to be able to tell clearly, even with a wolf's ear.

It is a large force, a good three hundred strong for such a small base. However, I sense, and my intelligence tells me, that there are no truley powerful devils there. I hope that our luck holds out as such. Since we are going on foot to prevent detection, and to avoid teleportation traps, we will be traveling for a few days. If you haven't pack provisions for the next few days. We should be able to get food there after we conquer it.

Rak-el smiles as several large dog-wolves approach her. They converse in several clicking of the tongues and yips, she and the dogs, as they set themselves up in a pack formation, ready to move. Several other angelic creatures are walking over slowly, chatting among themselves, nodding to Rak-el, before also preapring to go.
god the giant

04-12-05, 07:14 PM
"well if its three hundred, then we should only need about one hundred and fifty warriors. please dont think im over confident, its just you said there are no very powerful demons there so we should have no porblem. well if we are already then i think we should attacknow before they get rienforcements. i am ready whenever you are."
Arcuna

04-12-05, 08:24 PM
((Wow, I'm oblivious. Sorry, I didn't even realize that this thread had started.))

A pillar of black smoke billows out from a nearby spot in the ground. The smoke dissiaptes, revealing a small, apparently human boy. My apologies for taking so long. My Master requested my audience before I came here. To be honest, I'll have to agree with Donny that we should only need 150 warriors, assuming none of these devils are anything special.
god the giant

04-12-05, 09:12 PM
(( dont worry about it.))

Donny has a pleasent smile on his face"boy, do i like when people agree with me. ya know, makes a turtle feel all warm and fuzzy. well, if we are all in agreement and i hope we are, then i say let us begin the attack. of course it is up to our commander. if you would like i would gladly sneak into the fort and try to take out a few demons before you get there. it would gve us a tactical advantage to create a blind spot. it is up to you commander."
Khaira

04-12-05, 11:10 PM
Mazithra arose, sheathing his sword in its scabbard once again. Looking to where Rak-el looked, Mazithra shrugged nonchalantly.

"I am surprised there are not more than three-hundred. We should be evenly matched then.
If there are devils...well, we'll have to cross that bridge when we get there. We can only choose to fight to the best of our ability. If death is our reward for this charge, then so be it. I have faced grim, dark mortality before, and shall probably do so again. I do not fear it.
I have said it before and shall say it again, my lady...my blade and my services are in your hands."
Taeldrin Laesrash

04-13-05, 09:47 AM
Three hundred? That's it? I bet there'll be more to finish us off once the first are done. They'll be dividing and conquering. Of course, they might also think that we've left inn completely unguarded, and would then slip in from behind, so we'll need to keep some fighters back. And we'll need a constant, stable food supply, so some fighters would have to serve as delivery. I say the best tactic to use when you're outnumbered is to skirmish when they're asleep and sabotage the equipment. And, He turns to Donny We won't be needed alternate stealth. That kid that just popped in-hissize and that teleportation ability make him far better for infiltration. And I guess that's all I have to rant about.
Lord Tarran

04-13-05, 06:13 PM
Rak-el smiles softly, nodding to the Githzerai

I thank you, warrior, for this boon. Worry not, the devil that await us will be easily defeated. They have not had the time to fortify the way the would need to keep the hounds and my friends over there out. It will take longer getting there than it will to conquer it.

Hearing the pseudo dragon's uninformed chatting, the angel turns towards him, speaking as one would to a small child.

The warriors here will be well enough to protect this cavern. Only you, this turtle, Mazithra, those hounds over there, and those angels are going on this charge. Three hundred will not hold us, worry not. I say pack enough food for the journey, for after that my patron and his allies will be able to get us the supplies we need to build a true fortress there. The fort we charge for is the first outpost the Dark Lord has built in between us and him, as a watchpoint for his forces towards us. He had hoped that it would be constructed quicker, but thanks to the efforts of certain dark gods far below, in the drow city of Menzoberranzan, the construction was halted, and only just started again. They do not expect attack, and are in no position to defend. This shall be an easy battle.

So finish preparing please, I wish to leave soon.
Arcuna

04-13-05, 06:19 PM
What shall I do, then?
Taeldrin Laesrash

04-13-05, 06:26 PM
Hmmm, I guess I have alot to learn about divine warfare. I suppose it will be easy with the unprepared fort. I can supply us with food, just in case. Is there any other preparations?
god the giant

04-13-05, 06:37 PM
"not to be rude but i grow tired of talking. i am going to walk ahead and hope to run into a few stray enemies. if anyone wishes please i like talking whilew i walk."

donny starts to briskly walk down the tunnel. he is humming a little toon, very relaxed and soothing, odd when one is about to start a battle.

Bump!!!
Lord Tarran

04-26-05, 09:41 PM
Time to move, I believe, is all Rak-el says as she and her celestial companions march forward, soon catching up with Donny. Then they stop, waiting for their other companions to join them.

Despite the fact that he is being ignored, Charon follows Rak-el. He draws his morning star, and begins to lightly meditate as he walks. His morningstar takes on a faint orangey-red glow.
Taeldrin Laesrash

04-27-05, 09:30 AM
Kito flies up to a spot near Rak-el. As Charon nears, he asks him a question.

You seem pretty shy. But methinks you've got a lotta potential. How'd you manage to teleport like that? And why is your mace glowing?
Khaira

04-27-05, 01:49 PM
Mazithra continues to march forward in quiet contemplation, having no trouble keeping pace with Rak-kel, his great sword, now beginning to throb and pulsate with a chaotic, abnormal energy rested easily on his s houlder. As Mazithra continued to walk forward, the blade of his weapon continuing to throb with further intensity as it seemed to draw the very essence of the Ever Changing Chaos of Limbo into itself...

"it is time for us to win a great victory."

donny draws the quater staff off his back and grips it tightly. the staff glows with an unmatched furry.donnies muscles are bulging. " i am ready."
Arcuna

04-27-05, 06:20 PM
Charon quietly responds to Kito, I am concentrating divine energy--well, not divine, but close enough--into it. In a word, I'm charging it. As for the teleportation, it's just something I learned how to do after a couple hundred years of training under my Master. If you like, I will fill you in later, but now is not the time. His morningstar is slowly taking on a stronger glow.

" any idea how long it will takes us to get there?"
Gallimaufri

05-06-05, 07:55 PM
Kuvas made it to the Inn just as the group was moving out. Not knowing who exactly the commander was, the Barbarian drew some discerning looks as he questioned those gathered. Once he found Rak-el and presented himself all things began to fall into place. Kuvas then quickly took up a position with the troupe.
god the giant

05-07-05, 11:35 AM
donny walks to kuvas to greet him. " hail friend and welcome.nice to see another warrior join our valiant cause."
Taeldrin Laesrash

05-07-05, 12:34 PM
Hmmm, this evens the score a bit. It's good to see a new fighter.
Arcuna

05-07-05, 12:49 PM
Charon pauses his meditation for a moment to look up at the newcomer. Hail to you. It's good to see that there are so many people who are willing to combat this evil. He smiles, then adds, Not to be cocky, but if too many more people join our cause, it might not be fair for those devils.
god the giant

05-07-05, 04:55 PM
donny laughs "actually i would say its already unfair for the devils."
Gallimaufri

05-16-05, 09:45 PM
Charon suddenly stops charging his morningstar and gasps. Wild magic?! We could have been killed! Charon regains control of himself, and says (apparently to himself), Thank you, Heimosu. You may have saved our lives. Everyone, disable any magic you are using now. We may be entering a wild magic zone very shortly. Most supernatural abilities should still function safely, just no magic. Trust me, you don't want to know what can happen to a wild magic zone if it's set off...
god the giant

05-16-05, 09:51 PM
donny stands for a moment.there was a link made between him and a friend.donny seems shocked at what their short lived conversation was about.
"well i may have just lost my best friend on this planet becuase i wasnt turtle enough to tell him about the loss of a friend."

donny takes his staff and puts it in a staff holder on his back and the magic seems to dissapear.donny is very uneasy"i have a sudden sinking feeling in the pit of my soul."
Lord Tarran

05-16-05, 10:20 PM
Rak-el smiles softly at Charon's warning about wild magic, having received word from Chris on such matters, and remembering the amulet she wore hidden beneath her breastplate.

Worry not, mortals. The wild magic that could possibly encroach on us will not be a burden. A... friend of mine once gave me a magical charm, which I still wear, that wards away wild magic, restoring Mystra's natural balance in my presence.
Arcuna

05-16-05, 10:26 PM
You're...sure? Charon asks uneasily, sounding for the first time like the age his body portrays. The way he's holding his morningstar, it almost seems like he's afraid to touch it, or perhaps a better simile would be that it's like it is covered in sticky slime.
Lord Tarran

05-16-05, 10:46 PM
Yes, I'm quite sure. My friend's trinket protected me during the Time of Troubles, I'm sure it will be fine now.
Arcuna

05-16-05, 11:24 PM
Alright... Charon continues to charge his morningstar, but very slowly. Soon, the whole weapon begins to glow, and the head shines like a miniature star. His body begins to slowly emit black smoke as he walks, and it seeps to the ground, forming a circle with complex symbols and inscriptions (for those of you who watch Fullmetal Alchemist, you could think of it as a sort of transmutation circle, except it's not part of the floor, it's made of smoke, and it moves with Charon so that he is the center of it). After another minute passes, the weapon stops glowing and the smoke dissipates. Charon nods to himself, partially because he feels much more safe with Rak-el around, and partially because he didn't explode or cause a rift in the very fabric of reality by concentrating and gathering his magic ability.
Taeldrin Laesrash

05-17-05, 09:57 AM
Okay, so the wild magic is not going to stop us, but how the heck did you find out...

Kito opens the locket given to him. He listens to the message, and snaps it shut.

Oh geez, Linian's at the Darkhole! I don't think Taeldrin was in his right mind sending her here, or properly anylyzing the situation. Wait...just calm down. Okay. But what did you say about a protective trinket? I believe we are not the only ones who can use magic. We're still in danger if the enemy has any mages.
god the giant

05-17-05, 10:12 AM
"kito my friend you should stay calm,we all should.think of this as just another fight.nothing extremely important and no chance of the devil him self taking the world.just another fight."

as donny walks he pulls another cloak out of his bag and puts it on.he takes two steps and something brushes by his backside.quick as lightning he draws his staff and turns but there are only allies near him."gohsts...i hate gohsts."donny thinks it may not have been a gohst but a certain someone fufilling his promise to watch over the group.
Lord Tarran

05-17-05, 06:46 PM
Worry not, young Kito. My amulet, though it does nullify all wild magic, will not endanger us. The enemy has not had enough time to get any truly worrisome mages up to the fort yet. We'll be okay.

((We are about 1/3 there now.))
god the giant

05-17-05, 08:14 PM
"well if your fancy magic amulet will protect us then i fell a bit safer."
Arcuna

06-05-05, 03:41 PM
Charon stops for perhaps ten seconds, apparently concentrating. He then runs to catch up with the group. Heimosu's getting nervous, he says to Rak-el. Do you think it would be okay if I scouted ahead? As long as I don't try to engage any of them in combat, it's very unlikely that I will trigger any wild magic effects.
Lord Tarran

06-06-05, 06:48 PM
Rak-el nods.

I believe that will be a good idea. Just keep within sight.
Taeldrin Laesrash

06-07-05, 09:12 AM
Sounds like a good idea. Do you want any enchantments?
Arcuna

06-08-05, 01:39 AM
Charon considers this for a moment, and then says,

If you have anything along the lines of Haste and Nondetection, I would greatly appreciate those.
Taeldrin Laesrash

06-08-05, 09:36 AM
Yep, I have those too. I'll start casting.

After about two minutes of incantations, Kito is finished with the spells. He whispers to Charon.

I gave you the hasting and nondetection as you asked, but I also gave you a fraction of my spellcasting abilities. Use them if you're in trouble.

(In game terms, this would translate to about 2nd-level cleric spells)
Arcuna

06-08-05, 03:56 PM
Charon smiles.

Thank you. I will use them if the need arises, though I hope to remain unnoticed by the devils.

And with that, Charon runs ahead 500 meters, or so (assuming he doesn't run into devils before then; should that happen, he stops far enough away that they would have a hard time noticing him), using his locket as a sort of beacon for the others in the party.
Lord Tarran

06-11-05, 09:54 AM
Charon sees nothing, though he can see the fires of the fort about three miles away, and spell seals placed down about a mile outside the fort. It seems better fortified than Rak-el had originally said...
Arcuna

06-11-05, 05:29 PM
Using his locket, Charon reports back to the group.

<Rak-el, I think you may have underestimated our friends. First of all, they appear to have spell seals in place around their fort. You'll be able to see them for yourselves once you get up here, but we should be on our guard. Furthermore, this raises an interesting point. If we really are in a wild magic zone, and I don't doubt that we are, that means that the devils also have protection against it. Give me just a second...>

Charon hides behind a large nearby rock and begins to cast Greater Arcane Sight and Invisibility Purge.
Khaira

06-11-05, 05:51 PM
As Mazithra continued to follow the group as they advanced on the fort, he began to wonder if they were all over reacting to this whole thing. They had already been marching for quite some time and still they had not encountered a single enemy. Where was the enemy?
A disturbing thought entered the veteran Githerzai Warrior's mind as he wondered if, perhaps, the whole army of devils were merely waiting for the opportune time to strike this small group of heroes. If they were to become ambushed by an entire army, how could this small group possibly defend itself?

Quickly, Mazithra moved up quickly besides Rak-el, his great sword still resting easily upon his broad shoulder.

"Tell me, Commander, do we know the enemy's location? Do you not find it at least a little odd that we have not encountered even a single member of the opposing force?"
Taeldrin Laesrash

06-11-05, 06:52 PM
This is another thing I was worried about,Kito mutters, in reference to both Mazithra and Charon's statements. Turning to Rak-El, he asks, Permission to dispel some of these enchantments?
Lord Tarran

06-12-05, 12:58 AM
As the dispelling spells go off, rushing over the nearby area, ridding the space of illusions and spells, a horrifying truth is revealed. Surrounding the group, on all sides, looking rather surprised, are Osyluths, Bone Devils, ready for the attack. Rak-el looks less than pleased, as he great blue crystal sword appears in her hands, her celestial friends freeing weapons for the attack.

I would suggest we defend ourselves.
Arcuna

06-12-05, 01:46 AM
Charon's glowing blue eyes shine like flashlights in the dark cave (Greater Arcane Sight) as he draws his morningstar. He looks at the osyluth closest to him, winks, and disappears in a puff of thick black smoke. Less than a second later, a second smoke cloud appears over said osyluth, as a morningstar swings out of it and bashes the demon in the head, sending it flying several feet. Charon lands where the osyluth stood only seconds ago.

I prefer the element of surprise, he says as he begins to draw energy into his morningstar.
Taeldrin Laesrash

06-12-05, 09:39 AM
Well, Kito mutters as he flies up above the devils, this really, really sucks. He thrusts his tiny claws out, producing a bolt of lightning. It zaps an unlucky Osyluth, and then the bolt jumps and electrocutes another dozen.
god the giant

06-14-05, 09:32 PM
fast as lightning donny grabs his quaterstaff and does a 306 side flip and smashes a nasty power attack on the beasts head, making an indent.then throws a swift kick to one standing next to i.

he points at the indented one"looks like this one suffered from shell shock.and well it was a shell of a good hit."
Lord Tarran

06-15-05, 07:07 PM
Three Osyluths surround Kito, two striking for the wings, the third for his head. Donny has four on him, all striking at him with their deadly tails. Three charge towards Charon, hoping to knock him off his feet. Others fight with the archons, being slashed and slashing in equal measure, as Rak-el skewers one on her massive sword.
Taeldrin Laesrash

06-15-05, 08:44 PM
Nimbly, Kito curls up and barrels out of the fray, passing one of the devils, but two of them hitting his body. In a heap, he lands ungracefully. He casts a spell, as shrouds of light clasp onto some of his wounds. The worse of the injuries are gone, leaving him with a few scratches and scale chips. Flying up onto a stone, he looks around; two Osyluths are menacingly approaching him. He casts another spell. A dark shadow appears in front of one of the devils. It is knocked back, and then runs away fearfully. The other one shakes its head, then leaps at the psuedodragon. Suddenly, another shadow appears, and the Osyluth is dead by the time it hits the ground.
Arcuna

06-15-05, 11:34 PM
Charon points the head of his morningstar at one of the devils charging at him. A thick black beam launches out of it and hits one of the osyluths directly, causing it to stumble, but not quite die. Charon fails to take care of the other two in time, but he does get a good hit on one of their legs as he goes down.
Taeldrin Laesrash

06-25-05, 11:41 AM
Kito flies over the battle, getting hit by a pair of projectiles. He awkwardly flies above Rak-El, and calls out.

Charon's in trouble. I know you probably are busy, but I'm going to see if anyone needs some enhancements. Wait, that's it! The spells!

Charon! Use the spells I gave you! Kito shouts out to the concentration of bone devils.

06-25-05, 02:57 PM
Charon stands up, and then becomes a blur as he bashes his morningstar into the near-dead devil. Without even stopping, he charges at the other one and knocks him prone with a hard kick.
Taeldrin Laesrash

07-01-05, 09:37 AM
Bravo, Bravo! Kito shouts from above. He quickly flies down near Charon, doing everything he can to keep up.

Need some healing? You look a bit shaken. Kito waves his hands, and flourescent red light forms where Charon's wounds are. When they're gone, Charon's wounds are healed.
god the giant

07-01-05, 10:52 AM
donny gets hit by all of them, under his breath says a bad joke and begins to use his flurry.the first one he smacked he hits a second and a third time to finsh it,then lays two shots into another one but its still hanging on to its life by a thread."come on just fall over already.why do i always get the most foes."

((becuase it amuzes you LT i know,i know))
Arcuna

07-01-05, 01:05 PM
Thnx, the blur says to Kito, as he quickly kills the prone devil before it can get up. Then, he falls into the ground, as if it were not solid, and a heap of thick black smoke takes his place. Roughly five seconds later, a smoke cloud, shaped like a spike, erupts from the ground beneath two of the devils close to Donny. When the smoke clears, both devils are dead, the ground beneath them has no scars from what looked like a powerful explosion, and Charon is standing there, panting heavily. Dnyaroo-- he starts to say, then remembers that he is under the effects of Haste. He tries again, this time saying it slowly enough for someone to understand. Donny, are you alright?
god the giant

07-01-05, 02:36 PM
"well,a slice in my shell, small cut in my arm,and a piece missing out of both legs but besides that everything is just peachy.thanks for getting rid of them for me.i wanted to save some of my talents as a surprise, but as you may have saw my flurry ability is out of the bag."donny drops to a knee,he must be hurt more then he is letting on."man i hate those things."
Arcuna

07-02-05, 02:09 AM
Charon raises his morningstar and points it towards Donny. It emits a warm red glow, and Donny can feel his wounds begin to close. The pain isn't gone, but at least he isn't bleeding and he can fight without too much hinderance.

Remind me to do a more thurough job after the battle, Charon says as he surveys the battlefield.

((In other words, what are the devils doing, LT?))
god the giant

07-02-05, 10:36 AM
"thank you." donny stands up and also looks around."what an amuzing battle."
Lord Tarran

07-08-05, 10:00 PM
The devils are all now dead, but there is a massive problem. The base is aware of the groups presence, and is beginning to gear up what appears to be a massive magical sigil around the entire building.

Trumpets blare from the angels as the charge the fort, Rak-el roaring at the fore.
Taeldrin Laesrash

07-08-05, 10:02 PM
You've got to be kidding me. Anyone else here able to dispel, or will I take this sigil on myself? I don't think physical force can do much against that.
Arcuna

07-08-05, 10:24 PM
I can try to help dispel it, though I'm a little uncomfortable with the fact that it might dispel Rak-el's amulet's effects as well...
Lord Tarran

07-08-05, 10:40 PM
Idiots!

Rak-el roars as she approaches the sigil.

it isn't up yet. If we get inside it before it's up, we'll be fine.
Taeldrin Laesrash

07-08-05, 11:15 PM
Ah, that explains it. Does anyone need a hasting spell? These enchantments can be very tricky. Wild magic or no wild magic, that sigil should go down as soon as possible.
god the giant

07-10-05, 01:48 PM
donny begins to run towards the base yelling back to the others"arent you guys coming?"
Arcuna

07-10-05, 09:42 PM
Charon makes a mental note to kick himself later, but for the time being, he runs along with the rest of them. He has his morningstar ready, in case any devils are unfortunate enough to cross his path.
Taeldrin Laesrash

07-19-05, 09:59 PM
As the army runs (Or flies) toward the base, Kito pulls out a pair of wrapped up pieces of paper, and tosses them to Charon and Donny. He casts a spell, charging his claws with electrical energy.

Do not EVER read those, he shouts. If you are ever threatened, have your enemies read them.
god the giant

07-19-05, 10:03 PM
"yeah ill just ask them to read it to me as they try to KILL me.but thanks it may come in handy."
Arcuna

07-20-05, 02:42 AM
Thank you for the warning, Charon says as he runs/phases toward the base. Are they Power Words?
Taeldrin Laesrash

07-20-05, 10:15 AM
No, something far more, ahhh, explosive.
Arcuna

10-23-05, 08:02 PM
Charon smiles to himself. Exploding runes? Wow. I have a feeling that these will come in handy very soon...

Seeing that the sigil is beginning to close, Charon launches a wave of negative energy at the guards and casters in an attempt to slow down the creation of the sigil. As he does so, he roars, You shall let us through! We will not be defeated!
